Highly recommend! Dr. Patel is a great dentist - she listened intently to my concerns and provided great recommendations each time I've seen her. A year or so after I had a cavity filled, there was an issue with the filling and Dr. Patel was able to fix it right there on the day of my cleaning (same day as issue was identified) at no cost! The hygienists are well-skilled and knowledgeable. In addition to Dr Patel, I am so impressed with the front desk service. I came in for an appointment 20 minutes early just to find out they did not have me or my husband on their appointment book. I was frustrated but there was nothing to do but to reschedule in a couple weeks. I rescheduled only to receive a phone call the next evening telling me they were cancelling my appointment. I neglected my teeth for quite some time and as a result need several fillings, have two broken teeth, and recently started suffering severe pain from these issues. Having moved to Chicago less than 2 months ago, I wasn't sure where to start when looking for a dentist. I found Sparrow Dental a few blocks from my apartment and gave them a call. The woman I spoke with (I'm sorry I forgot the name) was extremely professional, understanding, and offered a very warm reception. I had a lot of stress and anxiety over my dental issues, however she immediately put me at ease. Thankfully, they were able to set me up an appointment for the very next day. The waiting room is pleasant, calm, and relaxing. They were very attentive and explained everything they were doing during the initial x-ray and exam. Dr. Patel was absolutely awesome. After the exam she not only explained in great detail where the problems were, but a variety of options as to how to take care of everything. Though I personally felt embarrassed and ashamed of my dental issues, she in no way lectured me or made me feel worse about the situation, while at the same explained to me the cause of the issues I have and future prevention. After giving me her recommendations, she made me feel in complete control in how to proceed with treatment without pressure. We decided to extract one of my problem teeth today, and setup a followup visit to continue with the other work that needs to be done. The extraction was as quick and as painless as I could hope for. Even so, she frequently explained what she was doing and checked to make sure I was doing okay. The cost of my visit today was low, and the cost of the work going forward was explained thoroughly to me, and I was given a timetable as to what order we can/should do things. I was very fortunate to take advantage of their $59 exam/x-ray offer. Furthermore they are very flexible with financing considering I don't yet have dental insurance. Overall, I feel much better about a situation that could have just as easily been extremely unpleasant. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Awesome dentist!!!! I am a complete and utter scaredy-cat when it comes to dentists, but Dr. Patel made me feel so comfortable. She makes me feel like everything is simple instead of using fear tactics, which I think most dentists use (unfortunately). Dr. Patel is friendly and she spent as much time as I needed with her. I never felt rushed. Everything was easy, easy, easy. Also, they were able to work with me since I don't have dental insurance. The whole staff was gentle and patient. That speaks volumes to me. I called today to find out about coming in for a consultation (another dentist gave me an outrageous quote for dental work, and what I thought to a misguided recommendation for treatment). 15 minutes later I was in Dr. Patel's office + the doc was having a look. 1 hour later, my consult and filling were complete! They seriously earn their five stars. I've had a lot of dental surgery and trauma in my lifetime, and when I saw an implant I had put in about five years ago was starting to look wonky, I immediately called Dr. Patel. I had never been to her before but they managed to get me in the next afternoon. She was very patient and thorough, and explained exactly what she thought was going on. She then recommended me to a specialist, who got me in two days later (Dr. Patel worked her magic to get him to fit me in). Thankfully, no more surgery is needed, but I'm going right back to Dr. Patel for a minor alteration to the implant and to get my teeth cleaned. Super soothing, really nice offices, great staff, and Dr. Patel knows what she's doing. UPDATE: I have my last appointment in my series to repair my implant today. Last week, they had to contour my gums with a laser scalpel. I have had bad experiences with laser scalpels. In fact, all scalpels in my face cause me to freak out. I swear to god, Dr. Patel puts this thing to my jaw, and what felt like 30 seconds later goes, 'That's the worst of it' and I hadn't felt a thing. Not a thing. I literally started laughing, I was so taken aback at how painless the whole things was. And no residual pain at all, whatsoever. She is a doctor for the squeamish, that's for sure. read more

Let me start by saying it's been at least six years since I'd been to the dentist and two since my girlfriend had. That being said, we both agreed this was the best dental experience either of us has ever had! First, Suniya at the front desk embodied professionalism, helpfulness and friendliness. We set our appointments up an hour apart and while she was finishing up, I literally spent 30 minutes just chatting with Suniya. She explained all of the ins and outs of my insurance, what was covered and what was not. When I called 20 minutes before my appointment and told her I didn't know about my dental insurance (because of the provider I don't get a dental insurance card, just your run-o-the-mill medical insurance card), she took the liberty of calling my provider for me and gathering the necessary info. All in all, she served as a great introduction to the practice. The hygienist (sorry, didn't catch her name) was also extremely personable, friendly and very gentle considering i had to have 18 x-rays taken, which means 18 of those bites stuck in your mouth at various uncomfortable angles. Dr. Patel was also totally awesome! I've never been to a more thorough, informative and warmer dentist. She explained everything as she went and kindly obliged my ridiculous questions about the dental equipment. Speaking of which, I nearly forgot to mention the fact that this truly is a state of the art office. Massage chairs, TV remote upon sitting down. I don't get that at home! And obviously the "tools of the trade' were top notch. Feels a little weird raving about a trip to the dentist so much , but this place is legit. Go. I've seen Dr. Patel over 4 times now and am so very happy with both her and her staff. Everyone is so incredibly friendly. The office uses modern equipment, and most importantly, Dr. Patel and her staff take time to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. I've never felt rushed and everyone has always taken their time to answer all my questions. Dr. Patel has also worked with me to determine the most cost effective treatment plan whereas other doctors might just try to get the most money possible. The front office staff is extremely attentive and professional. The environment is fantastic. I just had my first appointment at Sparrow Dental this afternoon. I was there for about an hour and everything went as smoothly as it can go when at the dentist. I hadn't been to the dentist in a while so my cleaning was a bit more intense than usual, but the dental hygienist, Sonia I believe, was very sweet. I use a homemade tooth powder as well as a essential oil blend when I floss and as a mouthwash. They were both very understanding about me not wanting to use any commercial products and tried to help me think of alternatives to Sensodyne for my tooth sensitivity. Additionally, I still have a baby tooth (I'm 28...) that Dr. Patel suggested I leave be unless it becomes a problem. I feel like many other dentists might suggest having it pulled now and putting in an implant. I am very glad I chose Sparrow Dental and plan to be a long-term patient! read more

Sparrow Dental is the bomb. I hadn't seen a dentist in a long time (thank you, health care system) and knew for a fact that I needed a bunch of dental work. I went to Dental Salon first on a recommendation and walked out with a suggested treatment plan that included 4 (four. FOUR!!!) crowns. I wanted a second opinion, went to Sparrow Dental, and basically never left. They took outstanding care of my teeth for a fraction of the price and invasiveness that the other dentist suggested, and the treatment was easy (and easily scheduled), painless, and absolutely professional. I continue to have the most pleasant experience with the staff and Dr Patel at Sparrow Dental! Their front staff and hygienists are the most educated I've come across! I was a child of braces, a silver crown and bindings. I'm now an adult with veneers and more fillings than I can count! As an adult I've had continued cavities. I was told this is due to energy drinks in college. I'm learning now, many years after stopping those drinks with continued issues, this is actually due to lack of Floride. I grew up with filtered water and water bottles, which routinely I carried over to my adult life. The first hygienist I saw immediately had me change my daily routine. No more pampered water, and new toothpaste! Turns out Crest's little blue balls hasn't been helping my situation. Colgate is in my future. Dr Patel set up a plan of repair with Floride prescription toothpaste first. She then discussed 6 cavities I needed repaired immediately and 4 she plans to watch, hoping they can be helped with Floride. After hearing my flossing concerns and previous dental history, she examined and tackled fillings that were done too close and actually ruining the spacing between my teeth! She's gone, in my opinion, above and beyond any dentist I've had in my life....without bad mouthing professionals in her field! Such class!! This practice is highly unprofessional. I recently got a letter stating that I was no longer going to be asked to be a patient at sparrow dental and that I was terminated as a patient in 30 days. When I called to find out what went on, Dr Shah told me that I showed up late and that I had to reschedule a couple of appointments in the past year. I showed up 16 minutes late to my last appointment and they told me they couldn't take care of me and just gave me a feeling instead of a crown, so they treated me for reasons I did not need. I have never heard of this and it's again highly unprofessional the way they handled it I would never recommend this practice to anyone!!! read more

I just left Sparrow dental. I have been going to them for a couple of years now. Their cleanings are the most painful and harsh dental cleanings I have ever experienced in my life. I floss every single day and brush three times a day. I do not have any dental disease or defect. I had a lingual bar on the back of my front teeth on the bottom for over ten years that recently broke. Sparrow placed a replacement on my teeth and two days later it came off. I almost choked on it. I then went back for a second replacement. The amount of cement that they glommed onto the back of my teeth was so much that I couldn't even speak normally. Also, there was so much cement and glue all over my teeth- on the front of my teeth, in between my teeth and everywhere. The dentist drilled all over my teeth for close to 40 minutes. It became so painful when they hit a nerve root, that I got up and left. I will be going to someone who actually knows what they are doing! I will never step foot in that office again. I can't believe I had to pay for this! read more

I had a very thorough cleaning at Sparrow today. It was my first visit to this office. Racheal did an excellent job removing some pesky plaque build-up on the back of my bottom teeth. She was mindful of my gum sensitivity and was efficient with x-Rays and polishing. I was also very impressed with Dr. Patel's professionalism and genuine patient care. She recommended I see a specialist for a potential issue and explained the issue clearly and concisely. Props to the front desk staff too, they scheduled my specialist appointment before my cleaning was even completed. Going to the dentist is never fun, but I have to say it was a very pleasant visit today -- it may have been the massage chairs, I've never experienced that during a cleaning before...
