Came here over the weekend to enjoy a lovely meal with my wife. The food was excellent albeit I wish I got one of the desserts! Food: we ended up getting the breakfast burrito (my wife) and I got a firehouse burger. The burger was made well and a unique aspect was that they provided you chili fries with them! Service: the young girl was nice that helped us, albeit a bit slow (only saw her three times the entire time), but she was super patient with us when she was with us and double checked everything. Aesthetic: real clean diner with two sides for seated eating plus a bar-styled seating when you walk in

    Grilled Steak Tacos

The grilled steak tacos were the worst I've ever had. The meat tasted spoiled, and I almost vomited after one bite. The kind server took it back, but I won't return. The service was amazing, and the staff were lovely.

Typical Jersey diner. Their food was good! Got the thanksgiving sandwich special. It's been one of the better ones I've had this season as I like to try them wherever I go since I love thanksgiving food. However, the service was kinda slow in the beginning that we had to go ask for a waitress. When our waitress finally did come over she wasn't the friendliest and it felt like we were bothering her. Towards the end of our meal she seemed to become more friendly.

Here's the deal... After a fire closed this place down for a year It's good to have this upscale diner back and better than before.

Met some old friends here for lunch. The diner looks very new on the inside and is very clean. Service was friendly but it was a struggle to get the orders in as there was a bit of a language barrier. I ordered a classic reuben and it was quite good. Others ordered tacos and other sandwiches. Overall the consensus was that it was above average. Definitely worth a visit but don't expect to be blown away.

Terrible service. Horrendous manager. My party of 5 got coffee from cloveberry and came here for food. We were sat at a table and ten minutes later the server came in asking for our order and ended with "also the manager is not happy because you came in with outside drinks" we were not told anything until after our orders were taken. The server continued " do you guys want to order anything to drink because you will be charged for coffee if you don't". So the manager was going to charge us for the drinks we paid for at a different store... stingy and unethical

Would go again - This diner is a gem in a quiet neighborhood in comparison to suburbs closer to NYC. Sparta is a very relaxing town and Lake Mohawk near this diner is such a good R&R place to visit. In addition, you have this diner that has many menu items fit for foodies. My friend and I ordered the buffalo mac and cheese, southwest chicken sandwich, and BBQ burger. Gosh...all 3 of these foods were delicious! They have so many other unique foods and their milkshake looks insane...given the amount of food we ordered, we had to skip it. The buffalo Mac and cheese was some of the best I ever had. Creamy but cheesy and it did not get dried up as most mac and cheeses do. Interior is very clean for a diner. It has a old school but modern vibe to it. Parking lot has ample spots. Visit Lake Mohawk after a good meal at this diner.

Been here 3x in the last 2 months. Brought large groups of family members and the food quality it top notch! Best quality diner food in the area! Their hot cocoa is not Swiss mix or hot water or hersheys syrup, no sir, it's the real deal with hot milk and premium Ghirardelli cocoa. Their oatmeal is with hot milk and no sugar so perfect for a healthy person. Their teas are all organic. This diner has spoiled me as no other diner can compete.

They start you out with in house made potato chips. They were crunchy and fresh and very tasty. Their specialty is burgers. I don't eat burgers my self but my buddy had one and he said it was "a hell of a burger" and "a party in his mouth". He was pretty thrilled with it. I had the chicken quesadilla. Was the best quesadilla I have ever eaten. Lots of cheese, chicken, fresh diced tomato, black olives, fresh jalapeño and a nice serving of sour cream and salsa, which I didn't find nesecary but only because the meal it's self really needed no enhancements. Wait time for food was very short considering the amount of people in the restaurant. Dessert was amazing. I had chocolate walnut pie. Large chucks of walnut and chocolate. Pie crust was also very good. Our waitress suggested ice cream to go with it. She was right, with out the ice cream the chocolate would of been too rich and overwhelming. But with the ice cream a nice balance was struck. Our waitress was very tentative and friendly but not overwhelming. If you go ask to be seated in Jen's section and you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and country. The noise level is loud but not over bearing. About what you'd expect from a place that is similar. The prices are also pretty fair. And their more expensive stuff is that way because things are made fresh. I would and will be eating here again and will tell my friends about it. It's a nice hidden gem!

***1 1/2 stars***…read more It's pretty rare for me to go below two stars, but we literally couldn't find any redeeming qualities other than a kid-friendly chalkboard off to the side. Rough, rough lunch and I'm picking the places going forward. I came here with my top-tier chum and #1 honorary young pup chum for a midday meal yesterday. This was an unfortunate recommendation by my chum, but in her defense, the biggest selling point was that they had a young pup section of the menu (which many of my suggestions didn't). This may have been a sign that it's time for the young pup to just order off adult menus going forward. This is probably a weird time of year to be over here anyway; this restaurant recently moved next to the baseball stadium, and December just isn't the greatest page on the calendar for America's pastime so it feels a little wasteland-ish right now. There were also a few random amusement park rides that we had to walk around to access the entrance (apparently more for a nighttime winter festival of sorts?) so the vibes were a little off to start. The interior was fine though - there's an interesting looking bar off to the left and high ceilings, so it feels more spacious than it actually is, given the overall square footage you're dealing with. I also enjoyed the cow decor, though I might be missing the joke with some of the cow/pig hybrid animals on display. My chum remarked that it seemed like the menu was designed by someone who'd never actually tasted the food, and certainly wasn't the same person who cooked it. Definitely a possibility, but my general impression was that this is ostensibly a family restaurant (remember the chalkboard?) with a menu only targeting young female adults, from the bar food to the cocktails. It's very strange. I wish there was a nicer way to say it, but the cocktails were terrible. I had their version of an Old Fashioned, which had coffee in it. Just did not go well together at all; there's a reason why Irish coffee with Bailey's was invented - not every dark spirit is going to work with coffee. I find it hard to believe this was taste-tested before being added to the menu. Never again. I felt worse for my chum though, who got a holiday twist on a margarita with cranberry. It was so beyond tart I could barely swallow it and it honestly tasted like cough medicine. In a quasi-NSFW comment, my chum mentioned that this drink might be helpful for a UTI, but alas, we were at a restaurant, not a pharmacy. At the very least, they need to retrain their bartenders on basic portions of a cocktail, but when the ingredients clash, that's a management issue. We got the Cow Wedgies to share as an app - basically, flattened mozzy sticks. I like the flattened concept but these were pretty bad. I'm assuming the issue here is they were in the deep fryer for too long because they had pockets of grease that would pop when you bit into them, almost like a pimple. One of those pockets exploded and stained the front of my hoodie. Not great - an unappetizing appetizer. The impression I got was that The Barnyard were pretty aggressively touting the chicken/waffles section of the menu. I went with the Winner Winner, which was another example of not understanding basic palates and taste profiles. This is a savory item - it has chicken, mashed potatoes and this gravy/corn concoction. Inexplicably, they then added this weird tangy sauce that would be better served on a bang bang shrimp app that completely ruined the dish. It's such an unforced error I don't understand how it happened. It's going to come as no surprise, but the service matched the overall quality of the meal. There were very few customers on the premises and yet our waitress was mostly MIA. She never came by to check on us after serving the food, despite making multiple trips to a table near us to inefficiently clear it practically one item at a time. It's very hard to give constructive feedback when an experience is this bad, but to me it starts at the very beginning - make sure the items on your menu taste good and that your staff is properly trained on basic hospitality concepts. The Kingdom of Sussex deserves a lot better than this.

You order at the counter and are given a placard for your table and your food is then brought to you. The biggest complaint from our party would be all drinks are for purchase not even tap water is given. Which is fine we had our own water. We ordered a side of waffle fries and the sloppy tots for the table. The side of waffle fries could've definitely been larger. The sloppy tots were delicious as the tots were well done and topped deliciously with beer cheese, bbq sauce, pork, and sour cream. They just needed a little salt. Everyone ordered a burger and they were good just super greasy. I ordered the pub burger in which the Irish cheese was definitely an acquired taste but the pretzel bun was delicious. The ya filthy animal burger I think would've been between with the coleslaw on the side as it made a mushy consistency. The stampede burger and bacon mushroom Swiss were both good. I will say for $15 per burger a little ridiculous it doesn't come with any side and just a pickle. The inside has almost a diner vibe to it but all the staff were friendly and polite.

ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL SERVICE AND QUALITY!…read more This review is being posted only after we reached out to St.Moritz using their feedback forum, waited 5 days and there was no response. We are utterly appalled by the experience we had at St. Moritz. We have enjoyed meals at this establishment for other occasions, but after Sunday brunch I am completely disgusted. We ordered two orders of the 'Avocado Toast' which according to the brunch menu costs a whopping $24 and is explicitly described as "two slices of multigrain toast, topped with mashed avocado, fire roasted tomato salsa, crispy prosciutto and two eggs." What we were actually served was a complete insult. Round 1: The plate arrives, and the toast is literally BLACK. Burnt to the healthy carcinogen it morphed into. How a chef looks at charcoal bread and thinks, "Yeah, send that out to a paying customer," is beyond me. Toast should NEVER come out of a kitchen black. We were informed that all the toast is prepared over a fire roasted grill. Perhaps this establishment should invest $39 and buy a toaster rather than relying on medieval culinary practices. Remember, we're talking about bread, not a 5 pound lobster that has to be remade. Round 2: We sent it back. When the replacement finally returned 25 minutes later, it was a total joke. Instead of the promised "mashed avocado," they slapped down straight-up guacamole. To make matters worse, the salsa was dumped on the side, and there was NO prosciutto whatsoever. If I wanted a chip-less guacamole dip on burnt bread, I would have asked for it. When a menu explicitly states 'mashed avocado' it should simply be that! When we called over the manager, Shannon to address this disaster, her response was completely jaw-dropping. She looked us in the eye and indifferently told us, "Well, this is just the way we make it.", " perhaps your idea of what this should be is different than the way we make it." I'd like to personally thank Shannon for the cost free lesson of how to eloquently demeanor the customer, talk down to them, and try to flex her superior culinary skills, all in a very public setting where other patrons looked on with amazement as she skillfully demonstrated how to deliver a very poor customer experience. Excuse me? We have eaten avocado toast at dozens of other places, on different continents and different islands, and it has never been guacamole, nor has it missing half the ingredients listed on the menu. Shannon's demeanor was incredibly negative, her attitude was profoundly unprofessional, and she could not have cared less about our experience. If you are going to charge premium prices, you need to deliver premium food and professional service. Absolutely unacceptable. Never again.
