    Chicken Chow Mein

Had a great meal at Special Noodle. We ordered the chicken chow mein, pan-fried pork buns, and spicy wontons, and loved everything. The flavors were spot on, and you can tell the dishes are made fresh. The portion sizes are generous, which makes it even better value. Definitely a solid spot to satisfy noodle and dumpling cravings. The service was quick and the place is clean and well maintained.

Despite opening in 2024, the Newark location of Special Noodle feels like they are still getting things down: there is furniture that has not been set (outdoor furniture were crammed inside) and very limited staffing. That said, the food is very decent. The XLB and pan fried dumplings were great and their broths were balanced well, though they are a little pricey for their portions. The dan dan noodles were a much better deal and I would recommend for bigger eaters.

I think Special Noodles is my favorite place for XLBs and pan fried dumplings. The service is good. Ordering on the phone is easy. There are lots of tables. The only down side of this location is there is no air conditioning thus not really inviting to go there in the summer time. The food is good. I tried a lot of the menu. I think the only dish I've tried and could pass are the pork buns and cheesy fried shrimp balls. The prices are ok. Service is good. Solid place.

Was hopeful for an alternative to din tai fung and din din dumpling, but nope. Everything tasted like five spice. Nice inside and fast service but won't be returning.

This is a very tasty place, the dumplings and the buns are the best as the price, and the service, excellent! The ambiance is relaxing and calm and is very organized, one of my favorites places to eat dumplings.

Food is hot and fresh to order. Really enjoyed the chicken and veggies and bokchoy with mushrooms the most, tbh. Next would be the shrimp XLB. The fried pork buns could have more pork in them. The spicy noodle soup would be a 8/10 spicy, just FYI! The pork potstickers were pretty standard. Service was fast and courteous. Ambiance gives a pure family setting. Sounds Ike it's a new place, it's spacious enough inside and the wallpaper is gorgeous. I'd likely come back again if I was in the area.

Ordering online is quick and easy. I got the soup dumplings, spicy wontons and pan fried buns. The wait wasn't too long either. The staff brought my items to me as I waited at the bench. Customer service is really good here compared to Milpitas location. The restaurant was also clean. All the items I got were delicious and portion sizes were decent. The spicy wonton wasn't spicy, add some chili oil to make it spicy.

I have been wanting to go there, seeing their high ratings. Their crispy dumplings/buns are really good but rest seemed okay ish. Their woodear mushroom salad was a little too sour for my taste. Dumpling time woodear salad is twice better. And the kung pao chicken was sweet, is it supposed to be sweet? Service was quick and ambience was good too. But just the food didn't feel very authentic Chinese.

We live nearby so we come here a lot. Everything's when we want some noodles or dumplings, we will come here. The service is good and quick. The store is very clean and beautiful.

Absolutely love this chain of restaurants, they deliver on comforting Chinese dishes. I always order the pan fried dumplings, the best in the bay. They really know how to get a good crisp. The flavor is impeccable inside and you pair it with the vinegar, it becomes chef kiss amazing. I like ordering the eggplant too, it has great flavor and a good wok hay smokiness. Another good item is the stone soup, with literal hot stones at the bottom of the pot. The broth is light, but the Sichuan is strong and delicious. The service was great, very attentive to our needs and gave us more napkins without asking. The food comes out fairly quick and steaming hot. This location has a fair amount of seats with more in the back in you have larger parities. You can see them making the food through their glass window area. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant, in particular this location too. It's very centralized with a large parking and right next door is a feng cha too!

    thumb-sized pan-fried buns

Really enjoyed this spot! The thumb-sized pan-fried buns were super cute and packed with juicy flavor. The crispy bottom had that perfect golden crunch, and the soup inside was delicious without being too greasy. The ice flower potstickers were definitely a highlight -- beautifully presented with a thin, crispy lace that made every bite extra satisfying. Crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside. Also loved the stone pot rice noodles. Served piping hot, the broth was rich and comforting, and the noodles had a great texture. Perfect for a cozy meal.

What used to be known as Pan Fried Dumplings has now been renamed to Special Noodle. There are multiple Special Noodle locations in the bay, however, I prefer the Newark location. Nestled in a plaza, there is plenty of parking in the large lot. On a Saturday during lunch, there were plenty of tables available. I've come here multiple times and we've never had to wait for a table. Scan the QR code for the menu to order. Our favorites include: -Pan fried pork buns - these are a must get! These are my personal favorite. They're piping hot with a lot of soup inside, a crisp bottom, and juicy filling. -Soup dumplings (xlb) - these are larger than your average xlb with good flavor, soup, and meaty filling. -Salt and pepper ribs - the meat falls off the bone, has great salt and pepper seasoning without being overly salty, the addition of bell peppers and onions stir fried adds some fragrance and crunch. -Green beans or green beans with eggplant - both are great. They're stir fried with great seasoning; a little kick from the pepper. Really delicious and a great veggie to add to your meal. -Osmanthus cake - steamed to perfection, these soft and pillowy osmanthus cakes are a great dessert for the end. Ever so slightly sweet and fragrant! Portions are very shareable and are sizable! We always order multiple dishes and have enough leftovers for another meal. Service has always been attentive when we're here and they are quick to check you out when you're finished with your meal. Have been here multiple times and will definitely return!

When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

The rice cake (well not really a cake but inverted sticky rice cup) was cold and where is the pork floss? The chicken rolls were decent, the best dish. I didn't try the fried intestines but was told there were okay. The stinky tofu not really stinky. I think it is because we are in the US and many restaurants stopped selling this due to complaints. I can take that but the dipping sauce was lacking with no garlic flavor. The other items were nothing to write home about. We were waiting for our stir fried seafood noodles and finally waved down someone only to find out it is out, but no one told us. So we ordered pork chop bento as we saw the next table had one and the portion was amazing. Well, someone must have eaten our order in the kitchen as ours was half of the size as what we saw from the other table. The decor was very simple and as with most Asian restaurant it was noisy. The price is really good for lunch, about $30ish per person AYCE. There is simple selections of meat including chicken, lamb, beef, the sort. And there are a decent selection of soups. I tried the Beef Tallow Spicy Sichuan one and It was really well done. They also have lobsters and other seafood upon request, and they were really well done too for the price. The sauce bar is good. It has your typical Soy Sauce, Zhejiang Vinegar, Garlic, etc. If they added a bit more different varieties that would be great, like Ponzu or Hong Kong Soy Sauce. Of the times I came here, I never really needed to order more from the original order. They always seem to put out just enough. The most important thing for me though, was that their ingredients were really good. In most places that I eat, I typically get a bit bogged down/bloated or I might get some brain fog after. After eating here, I did not get that feeling at all and I feel much more refreshed/satisfied than usual. I know this is a personal thing, but that means a lot to me. Of the things to improve upon, I think the menu does need to be a bit more clear. There is a feeling that only the side food bar is unlimited, but the rest are not. The breakfast menu does not seem very clear, as I cannot tell if this is a one time serving or if it is AYCE as well. The rear area with the self-serving also is a bit confusing. Perhaps some more frills to go with it would improve the overall experience. The other reviews stated that the service was not very good; this may have been the case before but the times I been there the wait staff has been very attentive so maybe they have been listening. Jack's Restaurant tends to eat up a lot of the attention, but this little nook in New Park is sorely needed as the mall is pretty dead inside. I will definitely come back just because I don't feel bloated after eating. Please keep up the good work and hopefully what I wrote was able to help you in your business. Thanks! 我一定會再來。謝謝!

My husband cannot eat dinner with just water--he needs a soda--but when we asked for one, it felt like it was a huge inconvenience for the server to get it. The food, however, is really good. We especially loved the chicken chow mein again. The biggest downside was the portion sizes.
