This is a Northern Chinese Cuisine. Their special dishes are braised beef noodle in soup , pan fried pork bun and skewers . The braised beef is rich in flavor , tender and the noodle has the right texture, not too soft and a little chewy. The pan fried pork bun is my favorite. It has a crispy layer at the bottom and inside are filled with super hot juice and a seasoned meat ball . It is so hot that we don't recommend to take a bike when served . You should make a small hole on the top or side to lower the inside Bao temperature, before you can eat it without burning yourself. The skewers section are new addition on the menu. It tastes amazing with beer or cold drink . We order the lamb skewers and the chicken skin skewers . Very easy to find parking. It is located inside a huge parking lot with other restaurants. The service is good and they are very friendly and attentive on any requests . We have been to this restaurant a few times. Would like to keep coming back for more items on the menu . read more

Pan fried dumpling has a crunch at the bottom, beef wrap is a bit crunchy with tender beef. Second Special Noodle I've seen in the area. Gave this place a chance after a good experience in the other one closer to south Fremont. Went here on a weekday dinner time, not busy at all, signs outside said grand opening. It was also very close to one of my favorite milk tea place. We got seated immediately and looked at the extensive menu. We ended up getting pork buns, XLBs, and chowmein. Overall, I think my favorite was the chowmein. The xlbs are fine, nothing like DTF or Din Ding but not as bad as Pearl Bay. The pork bun was okay, not really alot of filling just mostly bread. Reviewing this place as current Special Noodle and not the previous Pan Fried Dumpling. Cut to the chase and the food is not good! The XLB and most of the dishes are off and no flavor. The General Chicken was overly sour and chicken is very dry and tasted of old cooking oil. Overpriced and the somewhat tall lady/server very rudely forced me to pay a tip. She says it's mandatory. There was only one other table eating. The have a lot of tables inside dining and outside dining available. They are good for groups. House music playing were songs from Air Supply, Phil Collins, The Bee Gees, Foreigner, The Beatles, Elton John, etc. obviously my genre. Pressure Cooked Pig Feet (No spicy). This takes some time to cook. Maybe 12-15 min. This was ok. I am glad we tried it, but maybe I am more familiar with the pig's feet with vinegar/ginger. Beef Wrap: Tender slices of beef, iceberg lettuce, green onions, cilantro wrapped in a thin green onion pancake wrap. Oh man, this was so good. The GOP was crispy, fresh, and delicious. The hosin sauce tied all the ingredients together. Beef Stone Pot Noodle Soup - This was filled with a vietnamese beef meatball, fish ball with roe, honeycomb tripe, tofu cake, tendon, AA choy, and several thinly sliced beef. I LOVE Special Noodle. It's probably my favorite chain for Chinese food. We have visited a few locations but frequent this one most often because it's closest to home. All of the locations have been consistently good quality in my experience. The most popular dish here is the pan fried dumplings, and they are an absolute must order item. These always come out steaming hot with a perfectly crispy bottom, and filling and broth inside are so flavorful. We get these every single time we come here, and we have also ordered them to go as well. I've enjoyed pretty much every single thing that we have tried here. My other favorite dish here is the spicy eggplant. They make it really well and it's so comforting with a bowl of rice. I also highly recommend the ribs over sticky rice, but be warned - this can sometimes take a while to come out. Their noodle soups, other dumplings, and a cumin beef/lamb are also really good. The restaurant is pretty casual. They have large tables at the back which are great for groups or families. The menu is quite extensive so you can usually find something that will satisfy everyone. The servers are friendly, but service is hit and miss in terms of speed depending on how busy the restaurant is. They also have online ordering and are very fast for takeout! read more

Seems the 'Panfried Dumplings' that I went to several times specifically for their amazing spicy beef noodle soup is now 'Special Noodle'. Their menu seems similar but expanded and food is slightly different now, many of the food items from before are still here in addition to new ones. I once again tried their spicy beef noodle soup and the portions are now significantly larger with more materials, but the taste, while still good, is not quite as good as before and it is less spicy as well. Came here Friday night and I don't know if this is a regular thing or we just came on a good night, but there was a man singing karaoke for the whole restaurant and it was so fun! Theres plenty of seating and all the neon lights make it feel like you're in a night market. We were seated quickly and placed our orders through our phones. Very generous people here to give 5 stars for this place. Right off the bat, walked in on a Friday for lunch, after we sat down, my kids start complaining about the smell, the smell I am use to from a hole in the wall restaurant with one waiter that do it all: severing, cleaning dishes, busting tables, washing the toilet and use the same mop to go around the whole restaurant, yea that smell!! But with all the great reviews we decided to stick around, sometimes the dirtiest place has the best food, but boy was I wrong?! XLB is juicy but both of my children stopped after eating one, usually I have to order 2 baskets and refrain myself from eating any for them to tear it up. I was surprised they weren't interested. same for the potstickers. The fillings just mediocre and very close to frozen one anyone can buy from the market. Noodles were not bad, but the pork belly was super chunky - not sure if the restaurant purposely did that again family wasn't impressed, we were sharing and did not finish. Beef wrap, the wrap itself was well made but it was ruined by the beef and random tossed greens that caused it to fall apart. Similar to XLB the technique is there, the meat or fillings ruined it. Pan fried bao saved the day, very juicy, fluffy, and a little crust was very tasty. Well that's what the restaurant was named after, so at least you did that one item to perfection. read more
