This company will not take NO! for an answer. These asswholes send mounds and mounds of junk mail solicitation to both the P O box and the residence. They call every day, the "Spam" phone calls never stop. I have asked them for two years to leave me alone. The people say they will put me on a list that says I do not wish to be called. They also inform me that it will be 30 days before they will stop calling me. Then they hand off your number to another call center in another geographical area. The most recent annoying ass phone calls are coming from Virginia, a number from the 434 area code. And yes I do know how to spell the 11th word in this review. If I could give Spectrum cable TV a negative five star review I would. I recently had to discontinue my service for financial reasons, and I asked them to refund my $146.45 that was remaining on my account. A woman on the phone refused to do so as did their executive escalation branch. I filed complaints with the better Business bureau, the FCC and the ftc. I also reached out to the attorney general's of connecticut, Missouri and California asking them to file criminal charges against their CEO Thomas Rutledge for grand theft and Anti-Trust law violation. I'm sure that their company policy to do this has netted rutledge and the other executives and their company millions of dollars over the years. I reached out to the governors of those three states as well. Their ceo, Thomas rutledge, pays himself 48.1 million dollars each year while price couching us for their services. And he's still refusing to refund my $146. Pretty unbelievable. I recommend that if you have lost money to Spectrum that you contact your state's attorney general and governor and local newspapers as well. read more

I had a problem with our cable box. I looked to see if it was something obvious that I could fix. I checked the connections with it, but couldn't see any problem. I called the Spectrum line to have someone come out. I told her that I thought my son hooked up an X Box to it once. (Turned out he never did.) Customer service gets 5/5 on their own. On the rare occasion we've had an issue, they always get it sorted out really quickly and politely. I could be biased, coming from having terrible, TERRIBLE, AT&T service in every way possible for the first 8 months we lived in Bakersfield. Spectrum/Brighthouse was just our only other option in our area but we really have no complaints. We don't use television, so internet is most important to us. Our internet rarely ever goes down, and when it does it always comes right back on. We pay around $40 for just internet which, especially when compared to everywhere else, is not too bad for the constant reliability and speed we get with their network. read more

Once they raise your bill up After the package deal , it's totally not worth the money , paid over $240 per month for just basic and unreliable internet . I don't recommend. There customer service can care less if you report problems , it's a best practice of there's to have you call every time there is issues with the internet so they can trouble shoot, I explained calling daily to have them do this just so the internet to work is just ridiculous, no one has time for that , I don't care how much time you have in your hands. read more

Ok Yelpers, so I don't even know how to relate how bad of an experience I had with Spectrum (Aka Bright House) for the past two days. It all started last night when I received a letter in the mail stating that my service was going to be interrupted due to delinquent payments on a re-occurring payment card. I IMMEDIATLY called the number on the letter to find out what was going on as I had already updated Bright House with correct credit card information back in November when they CALLED ME TO TELL ME THE CARD I HAD ON FILE WAS EXPIRED AND WAS NO LONGER VALID SO I THEN IMMEDIATLY PROVIDED THEM WITH THE NEW CARD INFORMATION - 11/17/2016. Last night at the initial phone call I was told that I was three months behind and they demanded payment of $183.56 to re-activate my account with the next payment due on 2/14/16. I initially questioned why I was three months behind after I provided them the new credit card information in November but was give a response that the payments got returned. For there I quickly paid the $183.56 to ensure that the bill was paid so no other issues would arise as I always stay on top of my bills. Once I paid the amount I was ensured by the rep that the service would be turned back on in 2-24 hours and that the account was paid and current. So after the 1st call I just could not figure out how or why the auto billing did not go through. I was fairly sure that I had taken care of the issue back in November when Spectrum ( Bright House ) called me and thought that I had even seen the payments on my monthly bank statements. From there I decided to actually pull my Wells Fargo statements and saw that I had indeed paid the Nov bill on 11/17/16 at $69.00 and the same card was subsequently charged by Bright House on 12/11/16 at $61.35. After reviewing my bank statements I immediately called Spectrum (Bright House) back to find out what the hell was going on. Funny thing is no rep I spoke to could give me any reasonable answer, they kept passing me off to someone else and their explanations made absolutely no sense. Now I'm a reasonable business man who pays his bills and I also did accounting work for 9 years so I know a thing or two about numbers. That being said when I asked the reps questions about how they came up with the $183.56 amount I was immediately responded to with hostility. I was mortified by the way three different Spectrum representatives ( I made it through a few) were actually upset at me for not understanding there billing practices?????? All I was asking was for an explanation on how I could be three months behind when they clearly received proper payments every month. After and hour and a half of my life wasted Wednesday night on the phone I decided to just request to speak to a manager. Of course there was "no manager available" but I was ensured someone would call me back in 24 hours. From there I just verified that the service would be turned back on and awaited for a call. This morning I did received said call from "Wes" who identified himself as a Spectrum manager. When I questioned Wes on the same information (how I became 3 months late) he attempted to fast talk me about how there billing works, that I needed to go down to the local Spectrum ( Bright House) office to speak with a representative to get a detailed printout so that I would some how understand what had occurred. Wes too, seemingly had no way of answering me the most basic of questions?????? How could I have been current on my bill every month prior to the card change and then pay every month the correct amount after the card change and still be 3 months behind???? WTF? At that point I just became frustrated, and it take ALOT to make me this frustrated... Wes assured me that the service would be turned back on, but the $183.56 bill was my due to delinquent payments. So then I decided to just go to the local branch.... YEP I even Yelp "CHECKED IN" too...... So after waiting for 30min in line I actually got a rep who seemingly knew what she was doing. Well not at first though, at first she told me that the service was STILL OFF and I needed to make a payment in cash to restore it.. It took everything in me not to make a scene or an ass out of myself... I had to take a deep breath and tell her to please look further as I had just made a $188.18 payment last night to square everything away.... But to her credit she did what no other representative would do an really looked at the account. She found that in November no one had ever actually turned off the reoccurring billing on the old debit card numbers and squared that for me. She also saw that my account was STILL TURNED OFF and turned it on for for me. The local rep also told me that the payment I made last night paid me through March and I was not behind. The whole thing is absolutely Ridiculous!!!!!!! Spectrum you should be ashamed of the service you give your customers. read more

Update to my previous review. On Dec. 29th I received another call for the person that previously had my phone number! What a surprise the problem had not been resolved. I again spent an hour on the phone with a supervisor and requested a credit to my account for the utter frustration and now 10 hours on the phone and was offered $20! What an insult. She offered to escalate my request and I would receive a call back in 24-48 hours. As I did not receive a call, I once again called them. Yes, another hour on the phone to be offered $20! I was told that Spectrum does no pay for customer's time and when I suggested that as a customer, I payed for his time, he said that Spectrum pays his salary, not customers? I recently moved to Bakersfield from LA, i carried over my spectrum services and boy the internet is horrible, I do a lot of things online, real time and it fails often. I do Online classes, and testing is interrupted. If anyone else knows about a better internet and tv service I'm willing to try it. In front of a customer you will say out loud to your co-worker, "Come on, you really mean this people to have a nice day?" The entire time he was just chit chatting with his co-worker next to him. Wow, I see that lots of people here hate Brighthouse. I can see being irritated with the service they get but not the customer service. I like everyone else has had some problems with my cable but I've never had a problem with the people. Actually, for a cable company they're pretty darn responsive to their customer's needs. Ever call DirecTV? I've lived in several areas of the country and I've used Comcast, DirecTV, Time Warner, Charter, Cox and Brighthouse. Brighthouse has by far been the best provider. I currently only use the internet connection but anytime I've had a problem they do their best to get it fixed as soon as possible. I've been reimbursed for lost service time on my bill, and the last time I called them they offered me a better price on my internet than I was getting previously. Who does that? They gave me a faster service and lowered the price. Sure they have their problems, but in the scope of things I see them as being an excellent provider. read more

I had to get a new modem for the internet. I arrived on a Saturday morning and the line was down the front of the Spectrum building. Many people were frustrated. I just stood and read my book while enjoying the shade. Paul was recording the customer's name in the order that they arrived. Paul had a difficult job this morning. Paul was very patient and answered questions. I believe he deserves recognition. After I made it into the building, I went to the desk and was introduced to Mario. Mario made sure that I got a new modem and explained patiently how to set it up on my computer. Mario also deserves recognition for his patience on the busy morning. Two weeks later, I had to return a modem and router for my son who returned to Bakersfield from college. I was glad to see Paul again as I stood in line. When I got to the entrance, Paul took me in and personally explained that I needed to return the modem and router to UPS instead of the Spectrum store. Paul was very patient again. Paul certainly deserves recognition for patience. On both visits, customers were frustrated, but Paul stayed patient. read more

Robert was able to help us out and let us know some good deals if we were ever interested. No hassle in returning it like other big companies that make you go through red tape. Looking at other people's opinions, I can see that I am not alone with the frustration with spectrum. My service at home had been spotty at best. We've had techs over, but our internet is always down. Then we go to the spectrum office and they have the slowest response time... representative of the internet service!! We have been with them for a long time...things have been getting worse and worse. One of my pet peeves is when the lobby is full and only two or three reps are at the counter and there are tons of reps walking in and out of the door. Obviously customer service is not important to spectrum...they have a monopoly in Bakersfield which is not fair to us hard working citizens who just want promised services of cable, internet, and friendly customer service... read more

UPDATE: This update came after the review below under the stars. I tried to use my second telephone line. The 4th person I mentioned below also falls into the incompetent category. She disabled my second phone line. I had to call in a get it restored. Maybe she did not like the fact that I turned down the several offers for different packages. Or, maybe she truly is incompetent and/or vengeful. If not forced to use Spectrum I would flush them down the toilet! ******************************************************************************** I tried to change my account by removing TV services and retaining internet and phone. The reason for this was a 44% jump in monthly costs - all at once. We don't watch enough TV to make it worth the money and such a price increase is terrible. I had 3 morons spend an inordinate amount of time attempting this. Each of these 3 miscreants simply put me on hold after blabbing for a while and then a new person appeared. The 4th person appeared competent and ultimately did take care of what I required but it took their tech people an extremely long time to simply switch my modem over. This 4th person did give me periodic updates. However, over one hour to accomplish something that should take five minutes is ridiculous. It appears that Spectrum tries to keep you from downgrading services. Apparently incompetent people coupled with interminable wait times is usually a recipe for disaster. Unless you have a lock on customers who have few alternatives. They should do better. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Received call about going from 50-300 on our business internet speed for free $0 charge. They added another $11.04 to the service and once I ask to then change it back, the answer was we cannot, because we no longer service that plan. Plan! wait, I never agreed to changing our plan. I then checked our cable and found our channel line-up was completely different. I called back to ask them about it. They want to charge another $17. 00 to add the channels that we already had in our previous plan. I mentioned that non of this was explained to me that it would all be changed, it was only supposed to change internet speed. They apologized that it wasn't explained but could not give us back our original plan. Now one of our business phone lines is out of service, ahhhh! I called back and was told it is because our equipment does not support 5 business lines. I said we had never had a problem before. The tech ask if we had turned in any equipment, I said NO! Tech then said he will need to send out a technition, and apologized for the inconvenous for our business phone line not operating. Which doesn't help me in any way, one problem after another and for offering a free internet upgrade, I have been getting charge more for less or no service. What happened to providing that great service they so proudly advertise. Beware of receiving calls that give free upgrades, your probably on a list they have to con you out of more money and get you away from an existing plan thats been working fine. Brighthouse is one of those companies I just have to hate to pay. I love my cable and LOOOOOVVEEEE my wifi. My wifi is great in all areas of my house except for one. My bedroom. It sucks, it won't pick up signal there. When there is an outage I see no reimbursement on my bill though. Hmmmmmm Also wish my internet worked in my bedroom. It is fast in all the other rooms. For $140 a month I feel it should work in all rooms. they go up and up and up as each year passes. I see new customers getting the same thing I have for $80??!!! The employees rate ten stars but their equipment is pitiful. I have never had a issue with any employee of Brighthouse being less than a ten. Their main problem is their equipment is so dated. Their DVR only records two things at a time and boxes go bad frequently. They really need to invest in some new technology. Beware they advertise whole house wireless but it must be if only you have a teeny weenie house. Their own employees will tell you that you need to get another router to get whole house wireless. I have one router in the office and the other one in the family room and we had to buy the other router ourselves if we wanted the wireless to extend through our house. Paid double for slowest modem, when in to cancel and turn in modem they informed me they issued me wrong modem. No rebate no apology they acted like it was my fault they issued it. Three months later I am turning in fastest modem cause the WiFi hasn't worked for the last four days and they can't deliver it til next week. It's ok only 14 people a head of me.
