We called Speedy Restoration for a leaking water dispenser, and were immediately called back by Susie, after explaining my concerns, we both felt that the damaged may not need actual water mitigation, Susie walked me through the process over the phone on how to check for possible damage. Needles to say the only thing affected was a 2x2 area of carpet and pad. I removed the pad and set a fan to dry the carpet. During the process of remodeling our nursery for it's soon-to-be resident, we pulled up baseboards and were shocked to find a mold bloom. Being that we're already falling behind schedule and are merely weeks away from the room needing to be finished, and with no experience with this kind of thing we were quite scared at what needed to inevitably happen next. Our first attempt had us at home advisor sending out automated contacting to the void in the hopes that someone would get back to us, our second attempt had us looking for people locally ourselves. That's where we found Speedy Restoration. We gave them a call, and almost immediately the receptionist had us talking to Gus, a project manager. Moments later I was texting Gus photos of what we were seeing, and after finding out that we were 10 minutes away, Gus decided to come over and take a closer look himself. Gus showed up, entered the room, and surprised us by assessing the bloom, checking for moisture in the wall, and explained what he was seeing and how this mold most likely came to be. More importantly he told us that it was surface level and that we could take care of this ourselves quite easy. He told us what to get, what to do, and that was it! We were pretty much at his mercy, if he wanted to cut the wall, the subfloor, whatever, we probably would have not blinked an eye because of how under the gun we were to get this room setup, but Gus came out, assessed, and explained that it wasn't that serious. And just as fast as he came, he was gone! Later that evening we did as he showed us and we will be back to work on the room in less than a day. We noticed that the hardwood floors in our basement were wet due to the Jan 2023 storms. I noticed Speedy's website and Yelp photos showed drying mats designed for our problem. I called 10-15 services and all of them were understandably overwhelmed with requests, not to mention not all of them offered these drying mats. When I got in touch with Speedy's dispatcher, Suzi called me within 15 minutes and said she could fit me in the next day. Their crew arrived on time, the work was done quickly, and the result was exactly what we had hoped for - dry floors. The service we received was so superb that I didn't even mind the flooding that happened to our apartment that much. My roommates and I are students at UC Berkeley and in the middle of midterms and assignments, and this flooding was a huge inconvenience. Speedy Restoration was there that night to tell us exactly what to do while considering our concern. I was mostly impressed by how well they were able to comfort our emotions since we are relatively unfamiliar with how to deal with such problems. It's the fist time I've had to really "adult" things out. Not only did they tell us what we needed to do, they gave us tips on the steps to claiming reimbursements for when we're dealing with any company without renter's insurance. I was lucky enough to find Speedy Restoration in a pinch. Not only were they QUICK to respond to my initial inquiry, Elias took it upon himself to escalate my situation to a same day response. Once the issue was evaluated, Elias had his crew show up first thing in the morning (on a weekend, thus also making it less than 24 hours that I had to stress my "new" situation). The initial quote wasn't unreasonable. Originally fitting for the situation as it was believed to be. Speedy Restoration did a great job for us! We had a slab pipe leak in our house and Elias was Superhero! We had a severe slab leak and had water under our wood floors in our dining room and kitchen. Elias and his team came out to our house immediately and started to do damage control. He set up a containment of the areas affected in the house. Then set up the dryers, blowers, dehumidifiers, floor mat heaters, air filtration system and big truck mounted unit to start sucking out the water. Elias knows how to work with the insurance companies and also met our claim adjuster onsite. There was an undetected water leak in my attic and it ended up saturating the insulation and then the saturating the drywall causing the ceiling to collapse in my sons bedroom. Our 3rd floor bathtub had started leaking once we filled it up (first time used in years), and we noticed leaking on the 2nd floor ceiling immediately below. After stopping the leak & starting initial dehumidification, we sent multiple requests for quote through Yelp. Elias called us within an hour and was out at our home by the next morning the inspector the damage. They were fast coming out to put out a few fans and removed the floorings and ceilings for us. But other than that my overall experience was bad. 1. Regardless of what the restore tasks will be, they always told me it would take 45 days!! With other contractors I asked it would only take less than 2 weeks given the water damage we had. 2. I agree with another reviewer here, they damaged my walls (with big holes) which were not damaged by water and far far away from the water damage. And the fix was terrible, wall was not even and the paint was not matched. 3. Baseboards: I don't why they tried so hard to reuse the damped damaged baseboards on my house and I had to insist very very hard to use brand new baseboards because they were not good anymore. 4. Hardwood floor: their subcontractors did a terrible job in my house. They overused at least 5 boxes of hw floors compared to my old contractor who did the flooring for me 5 years ago, one man and 2 days (whereas Speedy contractors have 2 people and spent more than a week and had me repeat ordering hw floors extra 2 times!) total waste of my floorings and money. Now I can see some gaps on my hw floor and I called the project manager, numerous emails with pictures and they still don't want to come after 2 months. Forget about the warranty they said, if they don't come to fix what good is the warranty, it's a joke. 5. HVAC: don't let them or their subcontractors to touch your HVAC. A guy called Jaime is absolutely terrible, my AC wiring was done incorrectly, first floor AC won't turn on, and they put a lot of insulating tapes to cover things up, when I opened it I found they didn't even put the screws on, and the tapes were loose. Air and even rats can go in and damage your HVAC system. And not to mention the AC is dripping water in my garage now and I called them to fix it. My new contractor found that the pipes didn't even have sealant on it and. An be pulled out easily. Speedy said they already sent a guy here last time and wonder why he didn't fix it, I told them the AC guy would need Speedy to contact his boss before he can do the job. Long story short, Speedy asked me to pay half of the cost if I want them to send the AC guy to come, are you kidding!? Forget the warranty they said. They won't even send back any guys to fix the problems they made or they will ask you for extra money. Long story short, I hope you never need to use a restoration company, but if you are unfortunate to have a water damage and need a restoration company, I won't recommend Speedy. I am very very frustrated and fed up with these guys. read more
