Went here for a date on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious. Shana (I hope I spelled her name right) was excellent. Service was superb. We had the tom yum soup with chicken and duck curry. Finished off the evening with mango sticky fried rice. Loved the music and atmosphere. Will be back!
We were in the Torrance area and found this spot on a whim and I'm glad we did! Located in a shopping plaza and luckily there was ample parking. We didn't make reservations and I don't think we needed it because when we got there the place was pretty empty and we were seated right away. It got busy later on in the evening. We ordered the chicken satay and unlike other places, it didn't come on a skewer, rather thinly sliced. Loved the presentation of the dishes. They also have Puckett Thai tea which is a different leave and a little stronger but tasted really good! Service was great and fast! Inside was clean as well.
I feel bad leaving a mediocre review but that was my experience with the food here. Maybe bc of the close to 5-star rating, but I expected more. I ordered the tom yum soup and the red curry. Was thrown off by the tom yum. I was expecting the usual tangy lemongrass taste that I love, but was met with a more tomato base which was different. It kinda tasted like diluted pasta sauce met tom yum lol. Also there wasn't a variety of veggies. It was mostly mushroom and chicken chunks in the soup. The red curry was just okay. Not good, not bad just okay. The eggplant had so much oil coming out of it when I cut into smaller pieces. Sadly not sure I will come again:(
This is some of the best and most authentic Thai food I've had. The flavors are incredibly well balanced, and everything is seasoned perfectly. One thing to note: be careful with the spice level. Their medium is genuinely spicy and will probably be too hot for most people. The duck curry is unique, rich, and absolutely delicious. I also highly recommend the pork jowl and the papaya salad. Every dish tasted fresh, flavorful, and true to authentic Thai cooking. I'll definitely be back.
This is a thai restaurant loacted in a corner of a corner plaza of the intersection. The interior is given a modern flair with some admittedly strange choice of figures near the cashier stand. I came during a Monday near opening time for dinner. I ordered the shrimp paste fried rice (with medium spiciness). The rice has good flavor with the shrimp paste giving a salty savory flavor akin to fish sauce. The shrimp was well done, but definitely didn't jump onto the plate from the ocean. The texture is real dry which is okay... until you add the excellent seafood sauce that accompanies the rice. The seafood sauce adds a vibrant, acidic, and tangy taste to the dish while helping with the dry texture of the rice. The tang and acid helps cut the saltiness of the rice which keeps you wanting to eat more. This is the star component of the fried rice (which is likely why the rice is dry). I really enjoyed the shrimp paste fried rice here and it leaves me curious of the texture of their regular fried rice. As for now, this place gets a recommend on that dish and it certainly warrants a try of the rest of their menu.
Favorites: Grilled Pork Jowl and Roasted Duck Curry! These succulent meats came with rich, flavorful sauces that had us savoring every bite. Our server was friendly, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations. She checked in on us several times throughout the meal to make sure everything was to our liking. As a sweet bonus, the owner even sent us home with a bag of coconut chips to try out! This is exactly the kind of casual, delicious neighborhood spot you want to keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

Tried Krata for the first time! Located in a strip mall, there's plenty of parking. The restaurant is nice and clean. We ordered 2 lunch specials: yellow curry with chicken and Hot basil ground chicken. And a Khoa Soi noodle. The lunch specials came with a nice spring salad and light crispy eggrolls. The chicken in both the curry and Khoa soi were exceptionally tender. We loved our food and the service and are looking forward to coming back to try more items.
This restaurant is in a small plaza with a small parking lot. I came here around 8 pm, so wasn't busy and parking was fine. Restaurant itself was also small. It took a while for our food to come out, probably 20-30 minutes. There were a few other groups there and some to-go orders. We had the following: 1. Grilled pork jowl: fatty as expected, but it was good. The sauce on the side was tasty and had some spice to it. 2. Red Chili fried rice with chicken: fried rice was good. The chicken was fried, which I didn't expect. It kind of tasted/reminded me of popcorn chicken. I would have preferred just regular stir-fried chicken. 3. Tom yum soup with chicken: the soup was not as sour or did not have as strong of a lemongrass flavor as I would have liked, but overall the soup was still good. Although the soup itself seemed a bit concentrated. The plating for this restaurant was very nice. It provided an affordable fine-dining type feel that elevated the dishes. Prices were reasonable. Overall, the food was good. I would definitely come back to try some other dishes. Other than the food took some time to come out, service was good and staff was friendly.
My friend had been eyeing this thai place. It seemed a bit more fancier than your typical thai restaurants. Every dish seemed beautifully presented. It's super nice that they gave salad as a free appetizer. We started with eggrolls. It wasn't the typical eggrolls I've had. It seemed like it had some kind of mashed potatoes inside? I don't know why but it tasted more Chinese dish than Thai? They cut it up and made it look super fancy. Personally, I feel like cutting it up in half would just make everything cool down faster, but I guess if it's for the presentation, so be it. It wasn't my favorite, but my friend seemed to enjoy it a lot. My friend got the duck curry and it looked so beautiful! It also came with a lychee, probably to offset the spiciness. Super cool! I got a regular curry with dark meat as option for the chicken. The chicken was super moist. I got a mild curry, but it was still super spicy for me. All in all it was super yummy.

The grilled pork jowl is delicious and should not be missed. I also enjoyed the eggplant with tofu and basil. On our second visit, we ordered the seafood with mixed vegetables and chicken pad see ew. Both delicious! The service is excellent and the servers are extremely helpful and nice! Must try!

Wanted to try out a new thai spot today and this spot came up. Wasn't expecting too much but it was really good! We had the squid leg appetizer, glass noodle salad, the chef special (crispy garlic with pork jaw), and curry noodle. All three were really good but the chef special was my favorite for sure. The only thing was the appetizer was pretty small, though it was nice and crispy. But they didn't really give that much sauce. The service was quite good as well even though there was a large party there and we were told it might take a little longer, it didn't take long at all. The restaurant is modern looking and clean and the dishes are presented really nice as well! Definitely a good spot and would come back!

Not a super fancy restaurant even though their plating is rather extravagant. Their food is great though!! Authentic yet still easy to eat even if you may not be used to many pungent flavors of thai food. I am Vietnamese and don't mind the strong and deep flavors. Love it actually. Staff is also very kind. -Duck curry was my favorite! So soft and you don't have to deal with picking the bones or anything. I never really had fruit in a curry before but I enjoyed it. Great balance of flavors -Lao Papaya Salad. Great for those who want a strong pungent flavor. If you're looking for something lighter and fresh, probably get the regular one. This may be too strong for you. -We did nam tok with pork jowl instead of beef. I think either would have been good. My first time trying this dish. The flavors are bursting, but I couldn't personally enjoy to the fullest because of the texture. This dish uses a rice powder I think for a but of crunch, but for those sensitive to certain textures, you may want to pass. Otherwise, it's a very good dish. Would try with beef next time. Great place for a date night or just a good meal out with friends/family. Family style is great to try all the different dishes. You can get your typical thai food here or be more adventurous with less popular but authentic food. read more

As a Thai American, honestly I would have never guessed that I would find an authentic Thai restaurant in Harbor City. Since the area is prominently non Thai or Asian, I had made assumptions about this Thai spot. I was wrong. I was so crazy wrong. Krata is actually cooking Thai food with authentic flavors. I was impressed! Krata is creative with presentation and introduces new Thai dishes that I never tasted before that my critical Thai mom would approve. Khao Soi with roasted duck breast, presentation was 10/10 along with concentrated curry flavors, both slippery & crunchy egg noodles, mustard greens and it was amazing. One of the best I've had. That roasted duck with crispy skin, yummy! For anyone who has a fitness goal and wants a chicken breast with thai flavors, get their chicken satay. Basically it's sliced grilled chicken breast that's flavorful. If you want something more tender, get the grilled Pork Jowl/Cheeks because that Thai dipping sauce it is paired with is damn spicy but so addictive. I noticed everyone ordered a different type of fried rice. I am so glad that I did. These are not ordinary types of fried rices. You can pick from their classic but have fun flavors like green curry, pineapple, crab, spicy basil but we opted for the red chili paste fried rice with fried shrimp. The presentation was magnificent and the flavors were wow. This spicy red chili thai fried rice with a mountain of fried shrimp. Loved the textures. Eveyone talks about Tom Yum or Tom Kha Soup (coconut), it was first time trying Gaeng RanJuan Beef Soup. Loved it. The flavors are comforting and the beef was tender. It's sour, spicy and great on a rainy day with steamed rice. This restaurant is welcoming. The service is attentive. It's a local restaurant that deserves more love and support. The restaurant is clean and spacious. You can't forget, you must order the roti with curry dipping sauce. So much fun to eat and dip into your curries and soup during your meal. read more

It's so good!!!! My new favorite Thai place! Spicy level was perfect for me (i like my food super spicy) It's located in a shopping plaza with a tacos el goloso, but there is plenty of parking even at dinner time. Service was great! Very attentive and super fast! Ambiance, I'd consider it a cleaner Thai place compared to your hole in the wall but the food is unbeatable! Seriously good was soooo good! They currently have a promo, idk how long it will last but it's BOGO Thai tea. But 100% would come again. read more

Krata Restaurant is a must-try if you're craving Thai food in the area! First time coming here, and we were welcomed so warmly. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing--we had roti with curry, chicken wings, pad see ew, Thai fried rice, and panang chicken. Everything was cooked to order, so it's fresh when served to you. The Thai tea is better than any ordinary powdered Thai tea; they use actual tea leaves. What's nice is they even gave our little kids some yummy marshmallows and Thai snacks, making it a family-friendly spot. It's truly a hidden gem. We will be back soon! read more

Don't let the area discourage you from trying this place. The quality of the food and service belong in a different tier. The inside is really nice, with nice background music, and the food is super tasty. We came on a Friday night and the place quickly filled up. The food took a little bit to arrive but the wait was worth it and the prices were very reasonable. It was our first time here but we'll be back for sure. read more

Came here on a quiet Tuesday night for dinner. Ordered the shrimp paste fried rice and also shared some of the Tom Yum soup and Papaya Salad. The dishes were excellent and had good depth of flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful, even explaining to us when the peak season for mango sticky rice was. There's soft lighting, clean tables and soft jazzy music playing if you eat in, though I'm sure this would be nice for takeout too if you live close enough. Ps: the pandan mango sticky rice was still pretty good despite not being in the best mango season read more

This is a very clean restaurant with very welcoming service and hospitality. The food is really good with flavors very much authentic to Thailand. Their noodles are consistently fresh as well! TL;DR - my favorite spot for authentic Thai food. BOGO promotion for Thai tea. Spicy minced chicken ball and crispy combination seafood were really good. The aromatic shrimp paste soup with beef stew had a light sour/acidic taste with very tender beef (think beef noodle soup). Grilled fish salad was delicious and NOT fishy. I'd get the fried rice again. There was SO much of it. The Thai tea cheesecake and coconut ice cream was very unique and delicious! This is my favorite spot for authentic Thai food. I've been back twice and see myself becoming a regular. They recently opened in August and specialize in a modern approach to authentic Thai food. The food is delicious and the aesthetics are to the level of fine dining. They have a current BOGO promotion if follow their social media. They have two thai teas you can get with this promotion: Phuket and Bangkok thai tea (both very different in taste but they're delicious) Highlights: The spicy minced chicken ball with northern chili and Thai herb was really good. It was savory and a little spicy if you like the heat. My partner happily finished this plate. Crispy combination seafood. Not spicy, very crunchy, savory and soft on the inside. There was crab inside (not sure if there was something else given the 'combination' in the name). Aromatic shrimp paste soup with beef stew was surprisingly good! It has a fair amount of vegetables inside, a little more on the acidic/sour side that is characteristic of Thai soup. The highlight was how much soft and tender beef was inside. It reminded me of the meat in beef noodle soup. Had left overs for the next day and was happy to eat it for lunch. Grilled fish salad with roasted chili jam. Outstanding dish! The fish was grilled perfectly. It had a beautiful orange/yellow on the exterior. No fishy taste at all. Just a wonderful dish. E-sarn fried rice with crispy tonkatsu. I'd get this again. There was so much rice and tonkatsu that we had to pack it up for the next day. Multiple layers of flavor. No overpowering ingredient. Just well balanced, delicious, and no complaints at all. Thai tea cheese cake with homemade coconut ice cream was very pretty and uniquely flavorful. I had never eaten coconut ice cream before so I didn't know what to expect. Imagine vanilla ice cream with a nice kick of coconut. The Thai tea cheesecake is exactly as you'd imagine it. It was on the dense side with that signature Thai tea taste. It complements VERY well with the ice cream. It elevates the entire experience IMO. The ambiance was nice. Really good place for a family dinner, date, or just to get food by yourself. Authentic Thai restaurant in a cozy and more upscale environment. Good place to sit down and eat. Roti with curry sauce: very flaky but too greasy, had to pat it down with a napkin to soak up the extra oil. Curry sauce was delicious though Tom yum soup: would get this again! Duck curry: beautifully presented, and the curry was very tasty, I liked the addition of whole lychee. The duck was a tad dry I believe we ordered the drunken noodles: this was ok. Noodles were an overcooked so there wasn't enough of a bounce or chew to them. Prices were on the higher side for the portion. An Absolute Gem of Thai Fine Dining: Krata The Kreation of Thai Dining is hands-down one of the best Thai dining experiences I've had anywhere. The moment you step in, the elegant decor and warm lighting set the tone for something truly special - it genuinely feels like fine dining, but without any pretension. Every single dish was flawless: - Crispy Combination Seafood - an unbelievable contrast of shatteringly crisp exterior with soft, juicy seafood inside. Easily one of the best bites of the night. - Grilled Pork Jowl marinated with spicy & sour shrimp paste- perfectly chewy texture, incredible depth of flavor, and just the right kick of heat. Still thinking about it days later. - Clear Tom Yum Shrimp- incredibly fragrant, clean, and packed with authentic flavor. One of the most aromatic tom yums I've ever had. - Tom Yum Fried Rice with Crispy Fish paired with Grilled Squid in mild curry sauce - this combo is pure genius. The tangy, smoky rice with crunchy fish bits and the silky, gentle curry coating the tender squid created absolute seafood harmony. - Dessert - Matcha sweet sticky rice with homemade coconut ice cream was the perfect sweet ending. Spent most of the day in the ER at Kaiser nearby and when whatever I needed to get done there was done, I realized I hadn't eaten all day! Needless to say, yes, I was STARVING! Hubbers said he did a bit of search and this is one of the places he found interested during his Yelp search, so his interest sparked the want to come through. We came through post lunch-rush weekday afternoon. I must have been really hungry because I just wanted to order pretty much everything. Hehe... But common sense kicked in. The two things I wanted to try was the Roti and the shrimp paste fried rice. I left it up to Hubbers and Mom to pick everything else. Our severe, Yoko, introduced herself and asked if we had any questions about the menu. She also asked if any of use are on social media. I pointed at me, of course. She asked if it isn't too much trouble to upload a picture of their current promo: but 1 Thai iced tea, get 1 free. (Easy enough and it being a good deal, I did it. Also ordered it. Heh...) Yoko later came back with our drinks and we were pretty much ready with our order at that point: ROTI WITH NORTHERN CURRY SAUCE: I've had my share of this dish, but this is the first time I've had it so flaky and delish! They stood on their own but the curry sauce elevated it to another level. Not necessarily better, but different. Either way, they were good. CRISPY COMBINATION SEAFOOD: Huh. Egg rolls. (I was expecting something else.) But enough of that - these things packed so much flavor! Presentation was impressive, flavor even more so. Liked this a lot as well. GARLIC AND BLACK PEPPER SHRIMP: Generous with the amount (and size!) of the shrimp they served. There was plenty to share between my party of three. The shrimp retained their main essence while the garlic and black pepper helped elevate its overall flavor. Hubbers said this was his favorite dish out of everything we got. SHRIMP PASTE FRIED RICE: I've once made shrimp paste fried rice - but it's not even close to the version they have here. Theirs was much better, so much more flavor and whoa, spicy. (Didn't expect that either.) If you're feeling adventuruous, might be something to try. KHOA SOI: Skipped it. Mom and Hubbers loved it. KRA POW BEEF: For Hubbers only (he ordered it spicy!) He loved this as well. FOOD: 5. For the ones I tried. SERVICE: 5. Yoko is perfect. VALUE: 4. A bit on the pricey side, but you get more with what you pay for. PARKING: Shared with other businesses. Plan accordingly. OVERALL: 4.5. If there was something I'd point out are a bits of discrepancy on the descriptions of two of the things we ordered. 1) I didn't know the crispy combination seafood were egg rolls. I expected a calamari type of plate. Don't get me wrong: it was delicious, but had I known they were egg rolls, I might have ordered something else. 2) Nowhere in the description of the shrimp paste fried rice indicated it was spicy - there was a strong kick to it, for sure. Also delicious, but after the heat build up, had to pull back a bit. The iced tea helped a lot! But otherwise and amazing stop! Glad I have them in my radar because I'd like to come back and try more dishes! Hopefully sooner than later! read more

Food was AMAZING as usual but service by the new wait staff was terrible. I wanted to order the Garlic & Black Pepper shrimp with shells on (it wasn't available last time, only with no shells) so I asked the waitress, "Is this available today?" She said, "Yes." Then another waiter took our order. When our food came it wasn't what was in the picture. I said, "This isn't what I ordered." He said, "Yes, garlic." I said, "No, the dish I ordered has shells on." Him, "We don't have that. Do you want it?" He's pointing to the dish he brought. I said, "No, I don't want it." He took it away & never asked me if I wanted anything else. In fact he never returned to our table period. I left without eating a main dish. The 3rd waiter who charged my card returned with the receipt & stood just staring at me, like he wanted to see how much of a tip I would leave. I said, "Thanks." (LONG PAUSE). He finally left. When we finally got up to leave (this is a tiny restaurant & only 2 tables were occupied), they said nothing. The other waitstaff who served us before were super friendly & wouldn't have brought us food we didn't order & then tell us we ordered it. We decided to check out Krata on a rainy evening due to the great yelp reviews. It wasn't crowded due to the weather, which was nice. The service was excellent too. Three stars because the food was a disappointment. The Thai iced tea was delicious and it was nice to receive a free one with their social media promotion. We ordered the khao soi and crispy egg rolls. The egg rolls looked nothing like the photos on yelp, they were soggy and tasted like they were frozen and reheated, poorly. Worst part is this tiny appetizer was $15 Unfortunately they were out of beef for the khao soi, which was a big disappointment. We had to go with chicken. This change had to be made after we had ordered or else we may have not ordered it. It arrived with the chicken skin fully on, and it was hard to decipher skin vs noodles in the dish itself, plus the khao soi had too much of a chicken taste, it's truly a beef dish. Again, the service was good, the inside was clean but we were disappeared with the quality of the food, as we expected it to be top tier due to the great yelp reviews. read more
