I am Indian and grew up on authentic Indian food. I used to have to go to Edison, Manhattan or jersey city to get good, quality Indian food. Now I can go right to Parsippany to spice grill! I've tried other places in Parsippany only to be disappointed. As far as nonveg Indian this place is hands down the BEST in the area. Don't waste your time and money going anywhere but here. My favorite is the biriyani. All ingredients cooked together harmoniously. My husbands is the chicken tikka masala (he's Italian so this is not too "exotic" for him). My 7 yr old daughter loves their naan. I'm so happy the quality of food here remains consistent also. Keep up the good work! read more

Met my Indian friend Neela for lunch. Location is convenient for her from Jersey City heights and I'm in Montville. Large dining area. Buffet was good. Some dishes that were new to me. We needed to ask for naan. When it was delivered to the table we were pleased with it's freshness and flavor. Only one dessert. Lately, I've had urges for India food. And India food is expensive to eat and also I have no idea what is good to eat. Most India restaurant at lunch has buffet which solve both of my problems. The food here is good but not as good as Aroma Palace in Montclair. The bread (Naan) is not as good and there are less selection. Maybe by one. I visited the Spice Grill today in an effort to introduce my mother (now 86 and in a wheelchair) to Indian cuisine. First, the staff was very courteous, and even met us as the door to help with the wheelchair (they must have seen us coming from the parking lot) The food was excellent. The Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka Massala were probably the best I have ever had and the Naan was perfect. During our lunch, the owner even stopped by! He is a nice man and it was obvious that he does all he can to make the customer experience excellent. Sandeep (our waiter) had gone into the kitchen for a short time and the owner helped clear our table as he chatted with us. Truly a great friendly place!!! The price is great also: my wife, my mom, and I ate for under 50 (with a 20% tip). My mom can't eat that much at one sitting and when we requested if they would let her take a doggy bag, the waiter (Sandeep) encouraged her to get more food and even brought over a new large piece of Naan wrapped in tin foil for her to take home! We came here based on other Yelp! reviews and were not disappointed. Spice Grill is an unassuming storefront in a strip mall but through its windows we could see a tastefully decorated dining room. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday and it was fairly quiet. However, it quickly became busy both with others dining in as well as for take out. The papadum and samosas we ordered were fresh and not at all greasy. For dinner we had lamb seekh kabob, hariyali chicken and lamb palak, all very good and likewise not greasy. The hariyali chicken in particular was tender and delicious. Service was extremely attentive with multiple water refills, while not in any way rushing us. All in all, a very nice dining experience. I had a great meal at the Spice Grill. The food was really good. The girls went out for a birthday dinner and both the service and the food was above what I expected. We had an assortment of appetizers samosas and a spicy cauliflower that was wonderful. The entree choices were lamb curry, chicken tiki marsala and one of the less spicy pork dishes. Everything here tastes amazing. Curry chicken - chicken tandoori and my friend had a spinach dish. The servers are really helpful and nice. It's BYOB so stop at joe canals before you head over for a date. It's a tad expensive but worth jt. Don't forget to order nan bread. read more

Couldn't believe how bad the service was .it was a lunch time so many people were there for their buffet service but that doesn't mean you don't take care of customers who are there for regular menu food ..I have ordered Paani poori..they gave me mixed Paani-extremely tangy and filling was just plain potatoes -no salt -pepper given -when I asked the waiter to give me regular green /spicy Paani rather than the tangy one, he gave me a look , brought the Paani I asked for and said 'here' and left .Tht is the customer service I was provided , extremely disappointed -never going there again..save your self time if you believe in being treated well and want to get better taste and food for the price you paid . worst taste read more

By far the worst Indian food I have ever had.Perhaps being a Brit. I' m use to better quality. I have never written a review before but this was just bad . First no beer! Ok try water with meal not bad,bit like bud lite. The popadams,stale Samosa ,greasy Chicken vindalo,the chunks of potatoe,old ,tasted like left over buffetFrom a week ago. Chicken also had That warmed up taste,sauce bright red,very tomato based, Kemam Nan ,rank. I guess we ate. 30% and left the rest,rice clumped together. Always take left overs home not this time. This was a very good indian place, they're many in Parsippany but this ones my personal favorite. I really wanted to enjoy the food and get the most out of the visit. So 3 of my friends and I went here for dinner. Its very nicely decorated and clean. First we ordered the samosa chaat and 2 chicken pakpras as appatizers. It was just our table that day but it still took long for the food to arrive. After we ate I ordered the goat vindaloo and 2 naan. My friends ordered many sizzlers and curry based dishes. The food was very good, it was also a little spicy, and I did not order it spicy. Other than that it was fine. It also took them a whie to get u some more water. Mediocre at best. Not sure who is rating this place 4 or 5 stars, but clearly they don't know great Indian food. Service was slow (entrees arrived 50 minutes after ordering with two tired, hungry kids at that point). They clearly weren't expecting us even though I called and confirmed a reservation 45 mins prior. So they made up a random, uneven table for 6 in the back next to the service door for the party room (that loudly banged every minute or so when they kept going back and forth to serve a party that's going on). The food was as average at most and we ordered 5 items and 3 apps. Nothing terrible but nothing outstanding either. Then to top it off, after complaining about how long food was taking, they still automatically added a tip of 18% for a table of 6 where 2 kids are less than 10yo. Couldn't be more disappointed with this "highly rated place". Unfortunate, especially considering how many amazing restaurants are within 2000ft of this place (Shan Shan, Leyendas de Mexico, Hwang Bu Ja) and a number of Indian options within a couple miles. read more

Terrible! We ordered Chicken Makhani /Tikka Masala and we were given a dish which contained a meager amount of grisly pieces of dark meat chicken which were not edible. When we told the staff about the grisly chicken pieces, we were told to order it with white meat chicken next time. The only problem is that there will never be a next time. read more

This review is for catering: On a recommendation from a family friend, we decided to use Spice Grill for catering an important party we were hosting at our home. We've used different caterers in the past, and this was by far the worst experience we've had. 1) They showed up late, and our guests were served appetizers an hour later than planned which was extremely embarrassing for us. 2) They changed the menu that we had pre-decided in writing, without even informing us. They didn't even bother to inform us during the party, and we found out when he looked at the plates of our guests. The caterers were supposed to bring moong daal halwa for dessert, but instead, they took it upon themselves to switch it to raas maali which we did not order. Also, we ordered kulfi falooda, and once again without telling us, they switched it to the ice cream bucket you can buy from your local indian grocery store. This is not what we asked for and definitely NOT what we paid for. 3) The quality of the food was definitely below average - the naans were NOT cut into the standard quarters, but instead were cut into small skinny strips which were bite size. They were uncooked, not fluffy, and stiff. The aloo tikkis were boiled potatoes, hard and tasteless. The ghobi manuchurian looked like mashed potatoes. 4) The set up of the entire buffet was very unprofessional. For example, they used take out containers to serve the chutneys. Also, there were no labels for any of the dishes which left many of the guests confused. It was overall a very poor presentation of the food. We definitely do not recommend them for catering as this was such a horrible and stressful experience. read more

Don't ever go here if there is a private party in the side room! They can not handle it. We have been here many times and have always liked their food - but tonight , there was a private party - and the service was horrible. All our dishes arrived to the table at different times, missing the rice, missing the plates, cold , we could not get a refill on water. We ordered a salad that we had to ask for about 6 times before we finally got it. The music from the party was so loud, we had to scream at each other to hear. I don't think we will be back - but if you do - always ask if there is a private party - if so - definitely choose to go across the street instead. read more
