This was my first time here and I have to say, I am super glad that I can get Indian food in Fontana now! Not only was the food delicious, but it was affordable and I got a lot for the price!! The man at the front counter was very nice and kindly explained to me what was vegetarian and what was not. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but I don't want this place to ever disappear so please give it a try. I will definitely return to Spice Jar.. likely tomorrow! read more

Had the food a couple of times decided to come in and try the actual spot out. All there is to say after that is holy noncow this food is bomb..not much indian food options around so this place is about to fill a void with some oversatisfying, soupy varieties of curry and some very flavorful rice...wait.. "hole up hole up" before i forget. This naan though...this naan is something SO serious...the garlic naan is sinfully TASTY. Your gonna just look at whoever your with like "forreal?" Cause its that dope. I used to go out to Rancho Cucamonga to go to the Indian restaurants out there but it looks like I have a new favorite! First off, the guys who work here are super nice and really proud owners. Secondly, yummm definitely hits the spot for an Indian food craving. I had the Tikka Masala, which had great flavor and was truly comfort food, and the Paneer dish, which had a real kick too it that made it spicy but perfect to dip their homemade naan in. My meal was so cheap, only $5.99 for a two entree combo that came with rice and a huge piece of homemade naan (which I got the garlic one). This is about the best Indian around and it's so cheap! Talk about a hidden gem in the rough! Saw a co-worker eating a piece of garlic na'an and he offered me the other half. Of course every good na'an deserves some rice, some meat, and some sauce. Oh was that delicious. I threw away the salad I had brought for lunch and headed right to the Spice Jar. I had the Chicken Marsala, Chicken Curry, and some spinach/cheese something. Every bit of it was awesome. This is now on my semi-weekly rotation for lunch and possibly a pickup place for dinner. Do yourself a favor and try it! First impression as I walked in this place reminded me of the Indian spice store by my work. They have a lot of the typical indian grocery items that I've seen at the store by my work. However, they have a plethora of delicious snacks and food items that sets them apart from any store I've been to in the I.E. My daughter and I came here after I picked her up from school. The lady was very friendly and helpful in choosing items we'd like. Side note: they allow you to sample to make sure what you choose to eat will be something you truly enjoy). We chose a 1 and 2 item plate, garlic/naan, and ordered samosas. Everything was absolutely outstanding. The Tika Masala was soooo good, chickpeas, and dal were also delicious with the right amount of spice. The samosas and chutney were also delightful. In closing, if you're hungry, want to try a new place, and maybe feeling adventurous (you normally don't eat indian food or never have) stop by and try this place. You won't regret it. This place was awesome. My fiance and I love Indian food. We sat on the restaurant side during the lunch buffet. They had a large selection of food for such a good price. The goat was nice and tender and so was the chicken. Everything was very flavorful. Our waiter was very kind and gave me a different dessert to try when I mentioned my food allergies. This was awesome since our 10 day old was in PICU. His kindness went along way at are rather hard time. We didn't get the chance to check out the market part just yet but we will be back. read more

I don't like how when you ask them a question and you've NEVER ate or had Indian food, they either ignore you and then get mad we ask questions . Like dude for real ? We've apparently never ate here so what's the problem. We walked out. How are you going to get frustrated with someone for wanting to know the food. The WORST customer service by far . Food was good, I've had better Indian food but this does hit the spot. It's mild tasting meaning it has flavor but not the punch of flavor most Indian food does have. The nan was great. The portions was ok, I think it upset me that the man who made my plate made the vegetables I chose the biggest portion. As far as customer service I didn't get the friendly aspect that other did. I felt like I was bothering them I was there and they were rushing me away and had me repeat my order a lot even though I'm sure they heard me because they repeated it after me. Amazing food! This is the perfect place to go if you want delicious food and are limited on time. They have several choices for us veggie heads and several meat choices as well. There's even a bonus of having a market with imported foods if you want to venture in to making your own dishes at home. They are very friendly and welcoming too. I'm not an expert in Indian cuisine, but I do enjoy sampling different cuisines from time to time. Thanks to the Yelp community, I decided to be venture out and try something different for lunch with my co-worker who happens to be native of India. The Spice Jar is a mini market filled with imported spices and ingredients found in Indian Cuisine, with a third of the location set up like a walk up deli with 5 -6 tables. Alot of the entrees are premade setup for express dining & high volume take out so DONT EXPECT much for Ambience OR Atmosphere. I ordered a 2 item combo with the Chicken Tiki Masala & Lamb Curry which comes with Basmati rice & wonderful warm Garlic Naan bread. I found both of the stews to be amazing delicious, well prepared lamb & chicken tender, moist and not too overcooked as if it had been recently made without sitting in the steam table too long. I paid $15 for a pair of 2 item combos I felt portion to price ratio was slightly dissapointing, the containers used were black plastic which are cool looking, but are too shallow and don't hold as much vs Styrofoam type My co-worker thought the rice was greasy which I guess was not traditional way to prep, so he was not super impressed with the food. In the end I was satisfied with the change I experienced and ultimately we both ate every drop and I found myself wanting more rice to soak up the exotic deliciousness found in the sauces that my tummy couldn't get enough of. I would have given 3.5 out of 5 if I could have but felt based on food alone, was deserving of 4. read more

Flavor explosion--seriously. Spices were on point beginning with the eggplant dish that had the most savory and burst of spices with medium heat; lentils were delicious, just the right amount of spice, and last but not least the lamb dish-- the mildest of the three dishess, but only a few pieces of delishiously tender pieces were served.
