My wife and I went here for the first time yesterday and were absolutely delighted with every aspect of our experience. We love Panipuri, but had not had it in a few years because it's not a common item on Indian restaurant menus. The Spice Room offers this classic Indian street snack and it was amazingly delicious! The menu is very diverse and they offer a wide variety of Indian and Nepalese dishes. We also enjoyed Nan bread, Manchurian mushrooms, and vegetable biryani. All of the food was delicious, the service was excellent and the prices were great. It was a Saturday night and they were busy, but the food came pretty fast and the entire staff was very friendly. I came here in search of great Indian food and because yelp recommended it. The place is kind of off a busy street and if I hadn't been looking for it, I would have missed it. The inside is very clean and it was busy but I found a seat easily. They have the option of a buffet or to order the menu. I knew exactly what dishes I Wanted and I wanted to have some leftovers for lunch this week so I ordered off the menu. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and aloo matter with some naan. The food was absolutely delicious. The perfect amount of flavour and spice. The service was a little slow but really friendly. For what I ordered, the price was a reasonable 33$ not including tip and i would definitely come back. Since moving to Colorado I think this is the best Indian I've had. read more

We were meeting a local friend here for lunch. We ordered two veggie Thalis (13.99 each), The veggie tandoori platter, the veggie noodles, veggie Pakora, and mango lassi. The thalis were the most underwhelming I have ever seen. First if all we were served a lentil soup but we were not sure if that was daal (to be eaten with rice) or a soup. after asking, we were informed it was to be eaten separately as a soup. The taste was pretty good The main curry in our plate was ok in flavor. a Thali usually has multiple curries and stews, but our thali only had one curry, one bowl of rice, two naan, and 1 samosa. There was no liquidy curry/daal to eat our rice with and The rice ultimately went to waste. the veggie pakora was pretty good , especially with the spicy homemade onion chutney ( which was super spicy)! Mango lassi was amazing! Coming from an Indian, this was a very average Indian dining experience. Would not return. read more

Well my goodness. This place impressed me so much! We searched for a vegetarian restaurant and this popped up! They have TONS of veggie options but also meat eater choices too! The malai kofta is my absolute favorite! The people working were super kind! The owner brought us out some desserts as we were celebrating our anniversary! came in on a saturday afternoon, was empty other than 1-3 other tables. we were seated v quickly and ordered a couple different items from the menu. really good: the tandoori wings; super moist and v flavorful and comes w a good amount for the price okay: the chicken tikka masala; tasted like butter alone, couldn't taste any tomato or spices skip: the rose lassi; you barely get any of the rose flavor and it's overly sweet the loss in rating comes mostly from the service. when we first sat down, we were given a platter of thin wafer crackers + dipping sauces. we thought this belonged to a different table since we hadn't ordered yet, so we asked the server what it was. she literally gave us a deer in the headlights look, said sorry, and left?? walked back into the kitchen and never came back. apparently it was complimentary and given to every table (we learned this later from a different server) secondly, we asked for some to-go boxes for our curry and were given boxes like you'd give for leftover fries or something. like bro the curry will spill?? how're you gonna give me a non fully sealed container for smth w a stew /soup consistency? we asked her for a diff container and she said "no that's what we give everyone." as we literally watched them box up doordash orders w the correct container types. generally just confusing service. read more

The food here is some of the best Indian I have had in Denver. This and Yak and Yeti in Arvada are tops. The lunch buffet is super delightful. They also bring you chai and naan with that. We have been here several times. It is a soothing experience with nature videos on a TV. I had noticed one of the staff from Yak and Yeti here and said hello. This is their new restaurant with their family recipes. I am super excited to have a restaurant this quality a bit closer to home. Spice levels are on point especially for buffet status. Tied with Yak and Yeti, this is one of the better Indian spots I've found in town (which is saying something. Denver is oddly not overflowing with amazing Indian restaurants). I judge an Indian restaurant by quality of meat and flavorfulness of sauces, and Spice Room holds up! Very glad to have discovered a good Indian spot that is not atrociously far away from me! (Insider info: I heard that Spice Room was created from one of the original leads at Yak and Yeti. If this is true, makes sense why they are the other top Indian restaurant in town!) read more

Our favorite place ever! The staff are super friendly. The food is amazing! Great vegan options. They even will do a mild/medium (mild plus as our waiter called it today.) or medium/hot mix for you if you need it just a touch hotter but not full heat. The samosas are the best I've had. They have a dusting of spices on the top that really sets them apart from the rest. Also they have many different options for naan. Coconut naan, potato naan, garlic naan, and of course traditional naan. I would also recommend an order of chai. Some of the best chai I've had. I ordered malai kofta through Grubhub. Midway through the meal, I discovered a large bug that appeared to be a cockroach in my malai kofta. I brought the remaining food and bug into the restaurant the following day to request a refund. The meal total was ~ $38. I didn't make a huge deal of the finding. I just wanted my money back. I was met with rudeness and disrespect. I was told to call Grubhub for a refund. Then I was told I was at the wrong restaurant. The manager ( I assume) was awful. Do not go to this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Indian food. All the food is americanized to serve American palate. I ordered paneer jalfrezi with Indian hot as I like it spicy, first of all that curry doesn't look like jalfrezi and the paneer was frozen or stale. So let me start with the positive - the food is quite good. I have been here a number of times and everything has been fine - good food decent service. Tonight, a Tuesday so not a crazy weekend, we had a party of six and the service was pretty bad. Took forever for the waiter to come and take our order. I had to flag him down and he seemed surprised when I joked that "we thought you'd forgotten us". This was a nice way of saying this service aint makin it. Takes our order and then we wait and .... wait. They serve only one persons food and then it takes another 20' to serve the other entrees. When I ask about the appetizer we ordered for the table the response was "it will be here soon". After the entrees - I said forget it. Now I appreciate that they comped it but we didnt eat it as - we already had our entrees. We ordered more drinks - nothing came. When it was time to pay the bill the waiter asked - "did you get your drinks?" No of course you know we didnt. Again I said don't bother. The server was nice and apologized and while I appreciate that the service didn't meet basic levels of competency while the bill was hundreds. I don't have a lot of Indian dining experience, but I know good food and experience when I get it. My friend and I met here for dinner last night. I biked there, but there's no rack, but locked up to their fence. They didn't mind. The servers were great to share some of their house specialties and my friend enjoyed a beer that was on special for only $3. We had the butter chicken and I wanted to drink the sauce it was so good. I smothered my potato stuffed naan with it. We also had the lamb tandoori and the season was really good. Most entrees were $15, breads $3, cocktails $6. There was enough left over to make a lunch meal for 1. They didn't have a lot of customers dining in, but many to go orders including food delivery services in and out. Our first time at Spice Room- I hear about it often in a Vegan blog I follow. We sat on the patio today and had a fabulous lunch. The waitstaff (always in masks) were kind and attentive. Lots of vegan options, but amazing menu for everyone. The food was incredible. We ordered Veggie Samosas, Sweet Potato Masala, and Veg Tandori. The Paratha bread was divine. It was all so good we ordered a ton more to take home and try, which was delivered to us in perfect timing. Highly recommend this place! read more

My girlfriend and I tried Spice Room last night for the first time and we were both so glad we did. The staff was very friendly, and really gave us a "family run" vibe. We were very impressed with the immense flavor of the food. Spicy and rich, deep, developed and colorful. All night throughout our dinner people kept coming to pick up their orders or sit down for dinner. The place was bustling on a Monday evening. It makes us so happy to see that a business with such good food is getting the recognition it deserves. As for covid precautions, we sat outside, but from the looks of things, it appeared to be safe to dine indoors as well, with ample room between tables and a hand sanitizer station at the entryway. This is our new favorite Indian spot in Denver now, and we will definitely be returning! read more

The naan was the best and most fresh tasting that I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I am super picky about food and I usually opt to cook my own food because of this. I, on the other hand, ordered baigan bharta and was extremely disappointed as I was when I ordered from another Denver area restaurant. I guess the style of baigan bharta in Colorado is just not baigan bharta. It's some kind of cream thing with some veggies in it and possibly no eggplant? I have fished around in the heavy dairy based curry from both places picking up random veggie shards and wondering, "is this a piece of eggplant?" Where's the spicy smokey garlicky eggplant goodness that is baigan bharta?! Please Denver Indian restaurants, white people are totally willing to try spicy (well flavored, not just hot) food! Friends, my fiancé and I have a problem. We are addicted to Indian food. That perfect spice. The exotic creamy sauces. The chewy, perfect for dipping naan. That fruity mango lassi to wash it all down. Mmmm... Luckily, this addiction is not harmful to our health, and Spice Room has opened close by, providing us with a new place to get our fix in the neighborhood! Raj, one of the owners of Spice Room greeted and served us. He was friendly and attentive, and obviously grateful for our business. The menu is extensive, and Raj happily made suggestions so do not fret if you have yet to try Indian food. My fiancé's request to add paneer (Indian cheese!) to his korma dish was easily accommodated, and they were on point with our medium plus desired spice level. My chicken makhani was probably the best I've ever had at any Indian restaurant! I appreciated the various flavors for naan. We opted for the garlic and cheese naan, which was magical when dipped in the sauces of our meals. Servings were generous, and I decided to save part of my meal for lunch the next day so that I could enjoy the sticky sweet Indian dessert called Gulab Jamuun. Yum! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better the Spice Room does it again. This is always my one and only go to Indian restaurant when in Denver. For me the reason is the sweet potato dishes which to date I have not found anywhere else in my travels from Colorado out West. It is always difficult to decide what to get because all their dishes are so good. Thankfully the new online menu makes ordering easy. In the past I would order the sweet potato marsala and Tandoori chicken tikka my two go to favs however it's a lot of food. Now thankfully I can order the chicken tikka and add sweet potato to it for a small additional charge. AWESOME! So today it was Tandoori chicken tikka with sweet potatoes, onions, bell peppers, peas, and salmon! All were add ons. Along with rice and Naan of course. The add ons do not disappoint either as they give you plenty. Not sure how long the menu has been this way but it is PERFECT! If you eat there you know the deal if not get there. read more

The food here was amazing! This will be my new go-to for Indian food. The pani puri was good -- there should be a bit more flavor in the filling, but would definitely order again. I got the lamb vindaloo and it was cooked perfectly, and it was enough for leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Fantastic. I'm bummed I just discovered this place. I got Indian twice last month from other restaurants not even on the same level as this food! I got the tandoori chicken wings and they're so flavorful and tender. Really delicious. And I got bhindi masala (okra stir-fry with onions and spices). The best I've had and this is always my go-to at an Indian restaurant. Flavors are so balanced and the perfect amount of heat (I selected "medium" heat and it's got a nice kick but not overwhelming). And I ordered paratha (wheat bread) and it's excellent! So happy with the take-out experience and the food. Can't wait to try more things! read more

Spice Room is off to a wonderful start as a strong new Indian food offering in the area. We dropped in for an early dinner on a non-buffet night, so it was fairly quiet. The service was on-point. They were quick to greet us, get us a table, take our order, and serve our food. While we were sitting there, the staff did come in and out a bit though, so a new couple coming in had to wait a bit to be seated. I think this was mostly just due to the quiet Sunday night, though. The food was also on point, with familiar flavors that had interesting twists. I cannot quite explain the spicing difference, but I can say that I enjoyed in immensely. We tried the vegetable samosas, the Chana saag, and the aloo gobi plus vegan soy chai's to drink. All of the entrees were prepared vegan on request. It appears that almost all of their vegetarian dishes (of which there are many) can also be prepared vegan by asking. This is awesome!! Even better, the staff didn't bat an eyelash when we asked for things vegan. This was so refreshing and felt right since they clearly marked vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Always happy when the staff has been trained on what a menu says. The vegan chai was one of the best I have ever had! The spicing was perfect and the creamy soy milk was the perfect match. It did take a little extra time to come out, but it was worth the wait. The entrees have a spicing level or mild-medium-hot. We tried the medium which was a little on the hot side for me, but my husband loved it. So I think their spicing is right where it should be, but if you are sensitive to spice, definitely get mild. We stopped in for a bite early, about 4:30. Hey, we're old. The place was formerly occupied by another Indian restaurant. The remodeling was done well. It is a little dark, but modern, clean and friendly feeling. I like the way the corner bar looks especially. We were greeted and seated and immediately were served water and papadam with three dips. Good start. I ordered a happy hour IPA ($4). I forgot the brand, but it reminded me of a Ratio Repeater. We looked over the huge menu, which includes some Nepalese specialties. Marilyn settled on a cucumber salad, a cup of lentil soup and butter chicken, which is chicken in a mild red cream based curry ($12). I went for broke and ordered tandoori lamb ($16). The soup was yummy, and had a rich earthy flavor that I really appreciated. The salad was mild and subtle, not salty, sour or strongly flavored ... nice restraint. Ah, the main courses. My tandoori lamb was spicy just the way I ordered it, served "fajita" style, on a hot iron skillet with a sizzling bed of green peppers, onions and tomatoes beneath. The lamb was tender and beautifully seasoned. Marilyn's chicken was excellent, the creamy sauce a perfect accompaniment to the tender chicken. The service was attentive but not at all intrusive. We were too full for dessert, of which they have many, and we took home about half of what we ordered. This is the one, the one that will stay and prosper. I am betting on it. Really good all around.
