I discovered this hidden gem, and it exceeded my expectations! The customer service was spectacular, and the staff made me feel right at home. The food came out quickly and was bursting with flavor--everything tasted wonderful. When I asked for a remake of my drink, they happily obliged without any complaints. If you're looking for fantastic food and outstanding service, great ambience for conversation, this place is a must-visit! I can't wait to go back!

Tucked away on a side street off 3rd Ave, I never knew about this spot until a friend told me! Really friendly staff, affordable prices, and vast quantity of food. Restaurant is large so good for big groups. Recommend: - egg rolls (good crunch) - Dan Dan noodles (veggie or regular both great!) - lo mein (thick noodles) - fried rice (perfection) Did not care for dishes like orange chicken as it's not tossed in the sauce (comes separate). Prefer it tossed and not dip like a chicken nugget. But still good quantity. Good spot for takeout or dine in. Order over the phone for a better price on food!!

My friend and I came by for dinner on a weekday and there were only 2 parties inside besides us. One section was roped off, the TV was on behind the bar yet nobody was there... it felt eerily vacated. We were seated and our tea cups were taken away (I think we were racially profiled, which I didn't appreciate). At this point I wanted to leave, but we were hungry. Good thing I had read some reviews prior and knew there was complimentary tea - so we asked for the tea cups back and our server brought over a complimentary hot pot of tea. I ordered the pork in garlic sauce and it was ok. I'd recommend ordering a side of white rice to eat with most of the dishes. My friend ordered the beef lo mein and said it was good. Overall, our server was friendly though absent and the several flies buzzing inside and around us further brought down the atmosphere and experience.

Definitely one of the better Sichuan restaurants in the area. Portions are great, lots of indoor seating, and cool memorabilia posted on the walls of famous people who stopped by. When I think of Sichuan food I think of mouth numbing spice and Spiceup truly delivers on that.

The food is excellent. Don't know why their rating is low on Yelp. Because of their low rating we went to the next door Korean restaurant who at 8pm told us they were closed for dine in! They close at 8:30 so anyway their loss. We ordered Cumin lamb and my husband's all time favorite boiled fish in chili oil. Food was actually good. Ambience was very good - decorated in Chinese style. Good lighting and spacious table setting.

Ambience -3/5 Food Quality - 2/5 Food Quantity -4/5 Revisit Again -2/5 Staff Service -3/5 Value for money -5/5 Ok for starters let me tell you that i am a sucker for Sichuan food!! I first tried it at the legendary THE Peter Changs Sichuan restaurant in Arlington (you gotta go there if in that area) and ever since have been hunting for that level of sichuan cuisine across the state. Peter Changs Sichuan food being the north star it cant get better than that! So when my friends raved about this place in Seattle I was all game to try it out! Now enough said let's jump into the experience. For a small pop up restaurant the ambience was surprisingly nice, and overall good. David the owner was warm and welcoming and made us comfortable with amazing customer service. Coming to the food, majority of us were vegetarian so we specifically requested David to make most of the food veg cause its been a common experience where sichuan chains mess up the order and serve ma po tofu with pork!! Not suprised this place goofed up too and served us mapo tofu with pork!!! Luckily we figured it out earlier and returned it for a veg version! Yes i was heartbroken cause im strict vegetarian and I completely get put off by such goofups..how hard is it to honor a veg request and not goof up?? David I give it to you though he went out of the way and apologized and gave us free desserts but it just doesn't fix the experience in my mind. Anyways, having said that the food portions were huge and filling so keep them in mind when you order! The veg lo mein was flavorful and so was the veg ma po tofu that came in later. General Tso tofu was nice. Veg rice and veg hot and sour soup were decent as well. My friends ordered the chicken and they said it was good too. Was not a big fan of the steamed or fried buns in dessert and could skip it! Our order: 1. Veg hot and sour soup 2. Veg lo mein 3. Veg mapo tofu (which they goofed up) 4. Veg fried rice 5. General Tso's Tofu 6. Steam + Fried Buns Now the price is a winner, extremely affordable food and totally will make your pocket happy for the quantity you get served! All in all ofcourse not to my expectation of Peter Changs standard and I have tried better in Seattle, but a decent place for a takeout or dine in when in mood for sichuan on a rainy seattle day. Remember to check your food before you eat if you are a vegetarian like me and also be specific to not use oyster or fish sauce!

This place is solid. Not perfect. I really enjoy their prices, espresso during lunch. I wouldn't come here for a fancy date or to impress anyone, but for some quick good and affordable Chinese food downtown, this is the spot. Their menu has a good selection for for lunch and dinner. I would still come for a date. Just not a fancy date. I hope this review helps u decide when to come. Not if to come. You should flrsure come

the food was AMAZING! Get the chengdu cold noodles, walnut prawn shrimp, and the CABBAGE. So good!! And the service was amazing there - the staff was really nice and always offered a great discount :) The place and service reminds me of my family in China and it feels great to be there. I visited Seattle with my three friends and we went back two times in the span of a weekend trip just cause we loved the food and the vibes. They deserve to have a good review and better business for the food and service they give.

My wife and I loved this place! Great hospitality and service! Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good Chinese food!

I really enjoyed our time here. If you're a big foodie and you are looking for "off the chart food experiences", I'd bucket this closer to a 4 star. That said, let me explain why I loved this spot. In terms of breaking bread with friends, sharing laughs, drinking, and making memories, I haven't been to a better spot for it. The dining experience felt like we were at a Friendsgiving. We came in with a group of 7 on a Saturday night. Had no issue getting seated(, but even if you did, they allow reservations). Everything is so reasonably priced, great portions, affordable drinks, and quality food. Not to mention, the owner, David, is the most approachable guy and so friendly. Ask him about the movie days. He will talk your ear off about kung fu, jackie chan, Steven Seagal lol. We were loving it. For the record, Steven would win over Jackie in case you wondering. Such a great dining experience. We'll definitely be back.

COVID review: I can't even count how many times I have ordered from here during "COVID", but it is a lot because the food is always good. Living downtown, it is ideal to have a go-to Chinese food place that makes the basics and more. Some of my favorites include: chow mein, fried rice, and their orange chicken. I also really enjoy their chili wontons, dan dan noodles, and beef noodle soup for winter time. To place an order, you can just give them a call at (206) 728-2551. Typically when I place an order, my food is ready within 20 minutes. When you get to Spice Up, the workers wear masks and gloves, then place your food on a table and the check and they stay at least 2 tables length distance from you. The owner, David, is also very friendly. Spice Up is a great local business that I love to support that makes great food. I know that I will continue to order food from them.

    Singapore Noodles! Yummy
    Sue M.

The Singapore noodles here make my tummy happy! Such good flavor! My sister raved about it and the dish did not disappoint. The service is good, owner is super personable and gave us several recommendations to try next time! Will definitely have to come back when I'm in town again!

I had lived in Beijing for 8 years and spoke pretty good mandarin for a 老外 so I ordered for us. Our waitress, one of two sisters who ran the place, I call her 陈大姐, said to me, Wow, you can speak Chinese! You must be very smart! I replied, You must be very smart. You can speak Chinese! At first she didn't know what to say but then laughed. It was the beginning of a lovely relationship. However since the pandemic we had not been back. Perhaps yesterday we were in the spirit of celebrating the Spring Festival. We decided to go there. What a great choice! 陈大姐 by coincidence was working. She retired years ago. (Her sister opened another 老四川 in Bellevue but unfortunately has since passed away.) 陈大姐 immediately recognized us. She remembered our son and other family members who often joined us there. It felt like old friends getting together again. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only ones in our little group. It's better to have more people so you can order more dishes. We only got 4 dishes, 宫保鱼, 椒盐虾,干煸四季豆, 夫妻肺片。Gong bao fish, salt and pepper shrimp, green beans and "husband and wife lung strips"! Actually that's a beef and tendon appetizer. Everything tasted just like we remember. Well, the fish dish was wetter than before but still tasty. Flavors are authentic but a little toned down from the Sichuan food in China and in a few other local restaurants. The main flavor of Sichuan cuisine is 麻辣 or spicy numbing. It's not really so hot as it is numbing. Your lips tingle. Most people who didn't grow up with this aren't big fans. Their 水煮肉 or 水煮鱼 comes pretty close though. Leftovers with either of those and leftover rice plus whatever make the very best 烩饭, huifan! Just boil it. We arrived there early and there were just a few other customers eating. And they left soon after. So it was just us and a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in to pick up food to go. I would consider ordering on line like that but this food doesn't hold up well over the distance to our home. Although the interior had been remodeled since our last visit, the decor is fairly stark. Combine that with the location in a strip mall on the corner of Jackson and 12th, which has seen better days, ambience isn't a real draw. However if what you want is a very good meal at reasonable prices then you should go to the Sichuanese Cuisine restaurant in Seattle. (I prefer it to the one in Bellevue.) Too bad you probably won't get to meet 陈大姐。Now that we know the food is still great, we will return.

Since it is a small establishment, I am a bit hesitant to give it three stars, but it was underwhelming compared to what I had expected after reading rave reviews. The inside was very welcoming to me; it was homey, giving similar vibes to my grandma's home/kitchen. There is very limited seating. FOOD: The food is definitely fresh and authentic, but I think I just prefer stronger, bolder flavors. The food here was very light and had a sort of healthy taste to it? Pan Fried Dumplings (3.5/5) - The fried dumpling skin had a nice texture to it, and the filling was juicy. It was okay; I didn't have strong feelings about it. Pork and Chive Dumplings with Hot and Spicy Sauce (3/5) - From the name, I was expecting a stronger flavor. The sauce was on a milder, vinegary side, so I was rather disappointed. Xiao Long Bao (4/5) - Juicy and came out piping hot (as reflected by the steam blurring my photos of it). Probably my favorite thing from what we ordered. Would've paired nicely with some ginger, but I forgot to ask if that was available. Szechuan Beef Noodle with Soup (3/5) - A cleaner, slightly herbal type of broth compared to what I am used to. SERVICE: The person helping us was nice. I don't know if they were having an off day, but it took a really long time for us to receive our food, despite it not being busy. The prices and portions here are really reasonable. Note that they only take cash or Venmo payments. TLDR// Being transparent, I found this place to be a bit underwhelming, but maybe I came in with too high of expectations. I would still recommend trying it to see if it's your cup of tea. It's always worth supporting local businesses.

Parking is available in the lot next door but you must park in spots for the restaurant. Otherwise you'll get a big fine. You have to ask for a piece of paper to put in your car on the dashboard. You will be led to a table by a no nonsense person. Each table has a place for the pot filled with whichever soup you choose to cook your food in. Ordering is done on a iPad. Straight forward, again if you know what you're doing. Otherwise just ask questions and take your time. Choosing meats is simple. Pork and lamb are my favorite. Meats come sliced very thin and rolled up and placed on wooden rings that surround the hot pot. Good luck choosing the other items. Green vegetables, tofu, noodles, turnips and dried tofu rolls to name a few. I personally stay away from the coagulated pig blood. After you type in your order, go to the self serve bar. There are plates there if you don't already have them at your table. It's near the front with various salads and other snacky items, such as peanuts. Somethings to enjoy before the hot pot is ready. You also will concoct your own dipping sauce from the several choices of ingredients available. People usually combine four or five different kinds. You can always go back later and try different combinations. Also there are small cans of sesame oil that I like to add to my sauce. A server will bring the very hot pot of soup you asked for. Let it return to a boil. Using chopsticks pick up one or two rolls of meat and wave them around in the boiling soup for just a few seconds until the meat changes color to gray. Dip it in your sauce and eat. Repeat. Gradually the soup will take on flavor from all the meat you cook. Add some of this other things you ordered. I usually cook leafy greens and noodles later. Take your time. It seems like you are eating more than you actually are. Payment is at the end because you might choose to order more food to cook.

The chicken pieces were of decent size. I did not care for the sauce. The white rice was well made and fluffy. The rice was probably the best part of the dish. About an hour later, we ended up throwing up the food. A complete waste of $31 dollars (which is pricey for what was supposed to be a lunch special).
