I got the ultimate bomb platter. It was really goood! Its recommended for more than 3+ people but it was good amount for me and my friend. The papaya salad was very tasty and I loved the sauce it came with. The pork belly was crispy and the sausages were great. We went on a wednesday and it wasnt busy at all. Definitely recommend

We really enjoyed our lunch here. This casual restaurant is located in a strip mall with many food options, but this place should be at the top of choices. The Nam Khao/Crispy Coconut Rice Salad was extremely satisfying. The flavor was immense, and when wrapped with the lettuce, it was perfect. The Lao sausage Banh Mi was delicious. The pork sausage in it was tasty. There is a menu on the wall at the counter. There's also printed menus stacked at the counter. I think the printed one has other items. Ordering is done at the counter and you are given a number to place at your table. Your food is brought to you. There's about 15 tables. Some for two and most are for four. Larger groups can be easily accommodated by combining tables. If you go, check out the beautiful mural.

I came here for a weekday lunch, this is located in the Park & Shop near 85 degree bakery. This is the type of establishment where you ordered at the counter and they bring the food out. So you'll walk up and order there. If you are eating there, they'll give you a number and you seat yourself, and they'll bring the food to your table. Water is self-service at the front. So we ordered two dishes to try - the noodle soup (pork) and the drunken noodles (chicken, mild). I thought both delicious were excellent, there was a lot of flavors and very delicious. I enjoyed everything. I felt like the restaurant feels like a good size but at the same time, it is a little small because the table are tables of 2-4 so it may be more cumbersome for a larger party. I imagine it can still work for a larger party by pushing tables together and using the stool/bench seating too. I didn't have any issue finding a spot to dine in for weekday lunch. I had to use the bathroom here, they are all-gender single stall restroom - surprisingly very clean. I was thrown off by the sinks which are located outside of the restroom instead of inside. Overall, it was a good experience and I definitely plan to re-visit when I am in this area!

i came in a few minutes after opening to place a to-go order. i ordered a pork banh mi with no jalapeños, and decided to eat a few hours later. the banh mi was still soft, the pork was tender, and the vegetables tasted so fresh! i was pleasantly surprised with the amount of meat in the banh mi! i really enjoyed the sandwich. service was quick and friendly - it took about 10 minutes for 2 banh mi sandwiches to come out. although i did not eat in the restaurant, it was super clean and well-decorated. i loved the colorful mural on one of the walls. awesome restaurant with such yummy food!!

I had the BBQ pork Banh Mi. It's delicious, a good size sandwich and worth the price. I walked in and ordered, they told me it would be about 15 minutes since they had three orders in front of mine. I went and sat in my car for about 8-10 minutes and went back in, my order was ready. There's plenty of indoor seating and a beautiful mural on the wall, if you prefer to eat in. I took it to go.

I'm visiting from Seattle and have been sooo excited to try this Lao spot in Concord, especially after seeing it blow up on TikTok -- and it did not disappoint. I got the crispy pork plate with sticky rice and jeow... THE JEOW it was SO good. It honestly reminded me of my grandpa's. That flavor was nostalgic in the best way -- spicy, savory, just perfect with the pork and rice. The crispy pork was super flavorful with the right amount of crunch, and the sticky rice tied everything together. Service was nice too! It was a quick interaction, but they were friendly and efficient. Definitely worth the hype.

Now I really understand why it's called Spicy Joi - the food is spicy and brings joy! A friend and I came here on a Sunday for lunch, ~1pm, and saw a good crowd inside. The whole left side was occupied by a large party (lively too, which added to the ambiance) and a few more tables with 2-4 ppl. A woman - possibly the manager or owner - greeted us and said we could sit whatever. She served us waters and offered recommendations as we browsed the menu, knowing it was our first time. She was friendly and briefly chatted with us too. We got 2 orders of the Khaosoi/Minced Pork soup. It was well-rounded. I was drawn in from the first slurp of the tomato broth. There were also pieces of pork belly, which usually isn't my first choice, but I found myself relishing the crispy bits of skin. Good chunks of bok choy too. My friend and I wanted soup, and this place fixed our craving! We also shared the Oua Lao Sausages combo (the mild version), which we got with sticky rice, veggies and lime sauce. Glad we took up this recommendation - get the sticky rice over steamed. The blend of sausage, rice and lime sauce was a good kick, and the veggies helped balance out the spice. During our meal, two parties ordered the King's Platter that has most, if not all, of the proteins on the menu + noodles, rice and veggies that can feed up to 8ppl. It's a spectacle, with the server announcing to the whole restaurant that it's being served. It's epic and the top-priced item at almost $125. I've got my eye on that next time, and bring more people to come back with me ;)

Spicy Joi presents the bold flavors of Lao food in an approachable way in a casual, counter-service strip mall restaurant. We started with their Banh Mi sandwich with spicy housemade Oua Lao sausage, along with mayo, cucumbers, jalapeños, cilantro, and pickled carrots/daikon on a crusty, light baguette. Nothing to write home about, but this simple sandwich made for a nice snack. More memorable were the other dishes we tried, which each came in generous portions. The Khaosoi was a noodle soup made of wide rice noodles in a fermented bean broth, topped with ground pork, crispy pork belly, Shanghai bok choy, bean sprouts, and cilantro. The broth was spicy, oily, and umami, and the different forms of pork added a heartiness to the noodle soup. Next, the Jungle Fever Thummua was a pounded salad made of shredded papaya, vermicelli noodles, meatballs, shredded pork patty, shrimp, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, cabbage, and eggplant, all in a salty fish sauce dressing. Finally, the Nam Khao was a rice ball salad made of broken crispy coconut rice balls mixed with cured pork, peanuts, dried chilies, scallions, limes, herbs, and lettuce. The crispy texture of the rice and the crunchiness of the peanuts came together perfectly with the tart, savory, spicy, and herbaceous flavors of the ingredients! Overall, the food here was definitely on point and super delicious. The seasoning was a bit toned down (less spicy/funky than I'd expect from Lao food), but each table had a jar of spicy chili oil to enhance the flavors. The service here was exceptionally friendly and hospitable, and everything came at a good value in generous portion sizes!

First time at Spicy Joi and we had such a great experience! The owner was super nice and welcoming, and even gave us some freebies. The food was delicious! One of our friends couldn't handle the spice, so Joi was kind enough to make us a new batch on the house. Everything was so good that we finished every bite! Definitely coming back. Highly recommend!

I had the Khaosoi and it was amazing - super flavorful, cozy, and just the right kick of spice. The Khaopiak was also fire - rich, deep, and totally comforting. Both dishes had so much flavor packed in, I legit didn't want them to end. If you're into noodles and bold flavors, this is definitely the spot. Can't wait to come back and try more!

I figured I'd go with the $13 one, why not? Then I quickly realized that the ordering system was a whole mess. It gave me the option to customize my sandwich, but some of the required fields didn't make any sense at all. For example, I don't like olives, but it required me to select olives. Then there were 2 separate sections for extra meat and extra ingredients, and those were required too, and both came with additional charges!!! I thought requiring customers to add extra ingredients and charging them extra because of that was totally ridiculous. If I don't want extra meat or extra ingredients, I should be able to leave those options blank and still place my order. But I couldn't proceed to place my order if I didn't select those. I ended up trying to go with the $17 option instead with minimal customization options. I eventually just placed the order, went to the store, and picked it up. As for the sandwich itself, it was pretty standard in size and the quality was decent, but there really wasn't much going on inside. It was basically just bread, meat, and cheese. There weren't even any vegetables! No lettuce whatsoever. I thought that was really weird for a sandwich to be very bare like this, especially given that the final total cost was $19 for a single sandwich from a small deli. I expected a lot more from a sandwich at that price! Again, the sandwich wasn't bad, but I didn't think it was worth $19.
