I was actually craving Banh Mi for awhile since the shelter in place but majority of restaurants closed. Then I found this place and decided to see what they got. I never had Lao food before and the pictures made it look really good. Decided to try it out since I wanted to order a sandwich from them anyway. The Banh Mi was good. They didn't cut the meats super thin like other places trying to save money. It was a good ratio of veggies, meat, and spread. But I personally like more pickled veggies and stronger pate flavor. The sausage and chicken skewer was really good. When I took the first bite it punched me in the face with lemongrass but afterwards it was fine. I ordered mild and it had pretty good heat. I have a low tolerance for spicy food and this was not too spicy so I can taste the food still. I wish there was more meat. Purple sticky rice was really good. I never had that kind of rice. It went really well with the meat. Don't eat it separately, it tastes better together. I didn't care for the roasted pepper sauce it came with but the sweet/savory chili paste was tasty. I used very little on each bite and it had a nice heat. It made me think of when I sit in front of a fireplace a little too close. Kinda hot but didn't burn. The sweet soul lao dessert was good. The trio was the best. It reminds me of my grandma, she always made these but I don't know if its the same thing but with a vietnamese name or she made a viet style of it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the pandan custard. My grandma made it better, sorry. It was a little too mushy, I like it with more bite maybe more gelatin? But then again it is called custard on the menu. Price to me was a little high because I'm used to Asian food usually being really cheap. Or maybe I'm just cheap and ordered too much food. Finally tried Spicy Joi, and it's a gem in the new Asian business lineup at Park N Shop! Visited around 5 pm on a weekday, and the relaxed atmosphere was perfect. The decor is lovely with ample seating. As a fan of Lao food and banh mi, I went for the BBQ pork banh mi with an extra fried egg, totaling $10 - a reasonable price for such a flavorful banh mi. I found a spot near Joann's, and once I bit into the banh mi, I was in heaven. The BBQ pork was incredibly tender and juicy, bursting with flavor from the marinade. The pickled vegetables and the bread were equally delightful. I was so engrossed in my meal that I barely noticed Joann's surroundings. I ordered a Nam Khao salad with tofu to-go at opening, my third consecutive day visiting. Unfortunately, when I returned to work, I discovered it had pork instead. I called the restaurant and was told they'd call me back, but I never heard from them. I returned in person, and the staff acknowledged the mistake, saying they would remake the dish. I waited 25-30 minutes while others received their orders, but mine never came. The owner passed by multiple times without addressing the issue. I eventually requested a refund, which they processed with little apology or concern. I wasted over an hour and left without any food. Whenever I go here, I get the tomato broth with different veggies--bok choy, seaweed, lotus root--pork belly, fish roe balls, and fresh ramen (my fave). The TLDR report is: Fantastic, delicious, plenty of high quality ingredients... and big servings! Here are the details: Last week, we popped in to get take-out for the first time. Many people may realize that this is the space that 'Los Panchos' inhabited for literally decades, so having gone there for so many years I have to say that it was a bit surreal to enter the space we'd known as the former eatery - now transformed. This new-(ish) Chinese food establishment definitely specializes in SPICY. My gosh, it's so good! As we walked in, we were greeted enthusiastically by the hostess. We planned to order food to go, we explained, so she had us get comfy at a table and we were served hot jasmine-scented tea and a dish of tasty salted peanuts which we were thankful for! The hostess had such an air of sincere hospitality. The floor-plan in the space has been completely redesigned, and now there is a ton of indoor seating for diners. The overall ambiance of the establishment is bright, acoustics are a tad loud (but fine), and there is what looks to be a little private room for banquets which I'm sure will be a hit for big groups. A TV on the wall was showing videos of food being enjoyed. So, the menu is extensive and leans wonderfully towards spicy options. Do not expect Cantonese food; that is not what they do. There are plenty of items that are less common, and there are also dishes that will make a more adventurous eater cheerful. One thing that's interesting about how the menu is organized is... there is a menu category called "Chinese-American" dishes. Most of the dishes in this category (such as Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, etc.) are normal to see at lots of Chinese food places, so getting a reminder that "these dishes only exist outside of China" is honestly pretty neat. We ordered Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce & Dry Cooked String Beans, plus steamed rice. The pork was such good quality -- tender, plentiful... there were tons of slivered wood-ear fungus which I LOVE... and the dish had a vibrant 'Medium' spicy level. A level of spice that will make you pay attention! The string beans were succulent! Not 'saucy'... and I mean that in a good way, for sure! So much flavor, and each bean was trimmed with care. They were tender/al-dente and bursting with concentrated goodness. It's been a week since we were there and we can't stop thinking about how good everything was. Mmmmmm. Don't expect elegant ambiance... just phenomenal food, and friendly staff! We will be back OFTEN.

The food is excellent. Highly recommend the hotpot for $20, you get your pick up three meat and three veggies and it's good enough for two. Steam soup dumplings and mapo tofu were awesome as well. Service was great, the ladies who worked there kept checking up on us to make sure we have everything we need. Served us tea, water, a little plate of peanuts without even asking. I think it's safe to say you can order anything on the menu and be happy with it. The only downside/tip I have is to not sit by the door. Their door slams super hard every time someone comes in and it's very distracting, other than that fantastic place to come back

The chicken dumplings were okay not my favorite, but they still tasted good. The hot and sour soup looked unappetizing and had a slimy texture. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but it tasted okay. Overall, I don't think it was worth the $11.
