The General Tso's Shrimp had a very thick batter which was doughy with a very sweet sauce. The shrimp were small and overcooked. I really like this place. I'm really happy with the quality of the food for the price they charge. Some other places are very greasy but they don't charges as much. So, I guess you get what you pay for. So do not be discouraged by Szechuan prices. You get what you pay for. read more

The foods taste ok, but compare to the price ( e.g. 20$ for a place of vegetable with meat????? wth?). it's really not worth it. So bad. Please, just stay away. Maybe you're stuck at work nearby, and this seems like an acceptable delivery idea out of desperation. I advise you, you should just stay hungry. The egg roll had a distinct cleaning-product taste in it. Sesame shrimp was so terrible I couldn't eat more than a few bites of it, and I am too poor to indulge in a luxurious option like that. I don't think they know what sesame is. Not only was there not a single sesame seed in sight, there was no flavor of sesame whatsoever. It was more of a vinegary kinda-sweet-n-mostly-sour sauce, which I don't personally like even if it was executed right. Shrimp breading was soggy, shrimp didn't even taste like shrimp, more like a dirty fast food fryer. Yeah, if a McDonalds using 20 year old grease cooked shrimp, and charged $10 for it, this is exactly what it would taste like. Crab rangoon was a rip off as well- wonton skin was crappy and pasty, and the scant filling was corn-starchy nastiness. I've never been so pissed to spend $18 (this is what it came to after $2 delivery charge). If you're desperate enough to consider this place, I suggest gnawing on your arm or your shoe until any other option is possible. read more

I have been to Snow Pea multiple times before, but this time it took the cake for "WORST!" The prices went up since I was last there. I got something different from my usual since the regular thing was too much for lunch prices. The chicken in my dish was AWFUL! My bf says they must boil everything. My dog will be the only one to like it. The sushi bar was CLOSED. The waitress had ZERO personality. This experience has ruined it for me and I will never go there again! read more

Since I moved from south Austin, I have had trouble finding good Chinese food. I gave up for a while, but tried Snow Pea at the recommendation of a friend. Turns out it was a good choice. They have a large selection of yummy food at fair prices. It is not the cheapest Chinese you can get, but the food is usually worth it. One of the great things about this is that they also serve sushi! I often get mixed Asian food cravings, and this is a place that can satisfy me in this regard. The first time I went there I got take out, and realized I had forgotten my credit card and was a couple dollars short in cash. The cashier did not even blink and just said not to worry about it. She was very friendly to me and the other customers waiting. The food I have had from them has been good. My friends had a bland experience there the other night, but it also seemed to me that they ordered something bland, so I am not sure if I should attribute this to them or not. Also it is hard to find, located in an out of the way shopping center with no big sign indicating its whereabouts. I am notoriously bad with directions, but I had to call twice to find the place. Just a warning. I recommend this place, and already have plan to get some take out again this Sunday! read more

Probably some of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I took a bite of my orange beef and briefly wondered if what I had put into my mouth was beef or an accident. It was dry, hard, and chewy. The food is okay. I guess if you compare it to other Chinese restaurants in the Austin area, it's decent. I ordered garlic chicken, beef broccoli, chicken fried rice, and fried tofu delight. Everything tasted bland, but I guess I'm grateful it wasn't drenched in sauce like some other restaurants. The chicken fried rice was literally that - there were no peas and carrots, green onions, or eggs. They call that fried rice? Once again, bland. None of the other dishes were flavorful. And it's pricey. I ordered hoping to get a good Saturday lunch, but they only offer dinner prices. I was assured on the phone that their servings are large, but when I opened the boxes I was greatly disappointed. In summary, it was definitely not worth my $50. Will not order here again. read more

We went to Snow Pea Chinese Restaurant for the first time a couple months ago, and we have gone back at least 3 more times since. Every dish we tried here has been spectacular. The beef bul'gogi was delicious and one of the best korean dishes available in Austin. The sesame chicken was the perfect amount of sweet. The duck was very tender and moist. The sushi we got one time was fresh and cheap during happy hour! We had the wonton soup on a couple occasions. The first time was very tasty and had good sized wontons. The second time was a bit on the salty side. All in all, this is the first place I think of whenever it's an occasion for asian. read more

I hate giving bad reviews (in fact, this is my first), but this place was a disappointment. I used to love their salmon teriyaki bento box with brown rice. But they have recently increased their prices and now it costs $14 for the "lunch special" potion of this item, PLUS they tack on an extra $2 for brown rice. Boo! Too steep in my opinion for what you're getting. I've also tried the shrimp with vegetables in a white sauce. The waiter was nice enough to tell me that the white sauce was "slightly" healthier than the brown sauce and it doesn't have MSG, unlike the brown sauce. It was not good. Sorry, Snow Pea! read more

We tried this place out because it's close to my work and home. They had a surprising deal of any 3 rolls for 20$ which is a totally steal. We orders pork dumplings A+. Cucumber roll A+, hubby had pork Korean BBQ which he said was the best ever in his life. I had a crunch munch roll, rainbow roll, and another I don't remember the name. It was very quiet but not super busy. They were good for my rowdy 2 year old who hates to sit in chairs and would not get off the floor. On that note it was super clean. So we will be back. Server was a little cold at first but then warmed up to us. We really enjoyed this place. If you get stuck in Mopac traffic and get Hungry it's easy to get off and on to get to. This is one of my favorite Chinese Restaurant's I frequently dine at. Sitting quietly off of Jefferson and 35th Street, it has some of the best dishes of Chinese cuisine. I have seen it under go a new transformation that has made it extremely relaxing with the addition of the indoor waterfall, in which is also my favorite place to sit. I am not into sushi, but I know they have an extensive menu and I've been told by others that they really enjoy eating it. The staff is always happy that you're there and is always attentive and prompt. I've been going for years and it they always seem to find ways to improve, from chef's to lighting, they continue to improve the Chinese dining experience. read more

Not the fanciest of places, but the food is solid. This is a order, not buffet restaurant. Service is quick and friendly. We were seat, served and finished eating within about 30 minutes, so very fast during lunch. All the food looked great, and my meal tasted wonderful. I had the Bugogi beef box which comes with the bugogi, an egg roll, 4 peices of california roll and a really good salad (dressing was yummy). All for $11.50! read more

This is a nice little place! We came on a Monday evening during Happy Hour and were seated immediately. The interior is spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. There is a large patio for outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly, but not intrusive. the food came in a reasonable amount of time and the General Tso's chicken was wonderful. I like this place... it's not the best sushi I've ever had, but for the happy hour price (3 rolls for $20), you pretty much can't beat it. Tried a couple of cocktails and they weren't great, will probably stick to beer next time. Also tried the chicken lettuce wraps which were bland... wouldn't order them again. Since I live close I've settled with the mediocre, over-priced food from Snow Pea when I'm craving fast Chinese food. Last time I ordered from them I got the wrong soup. The time before that, I couldn't believe I had paid $20 for Chinese takeout for one person. Gave them one last chance tonight and after waiting an hour for my delivery called them to see what was going on. The delivery person went to the wrong house... Snow Pea is my GO TO chinese and sushi restaurant in Central Austin. They offer all of your favorite chinese dishes and some really original sushi rolls. The food is always fresh and the help is friendly. They also offer take-out for when you are busy and get your food ready really quickly! A great option for when you are super busy studying for finals! They also are a good choice for throwing private parties. I have thrown two different parties here - one large with a set menu and one smaller with saki bombs and both went off without a hitch and were very affordable! My personal favorite dishes here is the cashew chicken, the house salad ( they have a very original ginger dressing!) and the crunch munch sushi roll! Enjoy! read more

Very good hot & sour soup, Schezuan green beans and spicy Korean pork. Our kids loved the General Tso's chicken and edimame. Vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. I've never actually sat down and eaten at Snow Pea. I'm a single, working mother, with a kid in college and we both love the take out food at Snow Pea! They are always courteous when I call to place an order, since I usually call as I'm headed home, and the food is almost always ready when I arrive. The basil shrimp is simply to divine, their garlic sauce is the best I've ever had and my daughter loves their veg steamed dumplings. We haven't had anything that we haven't liked! read more
