Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Roll & Cream Cheese Rangoon
    Stephanie M.

Came in for lunch and we're seated promptly for a table of 4. It wasn't very busy around 11:30 am. I can never make up my mind and always want a little bit of everything, so I went with the Happy Family lunch plate. It has beef, chicken, shrimp and veggies in a brown sauce. Instead of rice I asked if I could substitute with lo mien and they allowed it no extra charge. It also came with a soup, egg roll and cream cheese rangoon. Everything was delicious and service was prompt.

My favorite spot for Chinese food me and the wife have been coming more lately but it always worth the 1 and half hr drive from Copperas Cove. We always get the combo fried rice and whatever main dish and have NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. Service is always good too a can't miss Restaurant

ONION (aka chicken) Chow Mein lunch

Austin just fails consistently with Chinese Food. I give four stars for friendly, attentive waitstaff, good value and generous portions. $12 Chicken Chow Mein lunch came w/a delicious hot and sour soup, mediocre eggroll and cream cheese wanton. The chow mein was overpowered with green onion tops and white onion. 'Just too oniony!! Huge scoop of perfect steamed rice. Food was ok, didn't want to take the leftovers home... will try again, order something else. They were busy at 2pm.

I am having a hard time writing this review. It sits between a 4- and 3-star review. On the plus side, everyone working there is super nice, helpful, and friendly. The food is good. I do wish their wonton soup had more than one wonton. My dish was ok; I have had better elsewhere, but my father's was better than others. The food comes out really hot --steaming hot. They seem to be doing a booming takeout business. Maybe that is why the food is so hot: they are making it for to-go orders vs dine-in. My father and I were one of only three tables eating in on a Sunday night. My biggest issue is that the place needs a thorough cleaning. The floors are beyond gross. The knick-knacks are full of dust. I really hope the kitchen is cleaned better, but I would rather not think about it. The staff helped me get my father out by holding the door open for us--a bit of an afterthought --the little concrete to make the door ADA-compliant. So I appreciate the help.

We have never been here before but we seen it for many years so today we came for lunch. We had sesame chicken rice egg drop soup and moo goo gan pan fried rice hot and sour soup. Sesame chicken was too sweet to eat hai pan chicken tasted powdery. Restaurant had an odd smell about it. We were really hoping this would be our new to go too place but it's not

This is a quintessential Chinese restaurant with foods reminiscent of that of my childhood. It's flavorful, greasy, and salty-- all good qualities of a Chinese restaurant in my opinion. The sesame chicken was great, crispy, and sweet. The combination lo mein was greasy, salty, and exactly what I was looking for, and the Mongolian beef is a bit tough, salty, and sticky. The service was kind and I'd come here again! Cheers!

    Spicy Green Bean Crunchy Noodles

The egg drop soup is the star of the show! It's filled with silky ribbons of egg and the broth has that thick salty flavor. We order the crunchy noodles as well to pair with/throw into the soup. This is a favorite combo of mine especially on a rainy day or when I need a comforting meal. Ordered the chicken fried rice without veggies since we're not a fan of peas. Very reliable fried rice! This place is our go to. This was our first time trying the spicy green beans and they were good but not great. They definitely aren't spicy and could use more garlic to enhance the flavor. They did have a nice crunch to them. We have only done takeout but the online ordering system is easy to you, you pay when you pick up, and our food is always ready when we arrive. They have a designated pickup station in the restaurant for takeout orders. There were multiple pest traps when we went this time so just something to be mindful of.

    Crab Rangoon

Was craving crab Rangoons and these have no crab, seasoning, chives, and all it has is cream cheese in it. Went back to the restaurant to complain/ask for refund and the lady told me "for $6 why would you expect it to have crab in it" and I said "because it's called crab puff on the menu and nowhere does it say that there's no crab inside" also mentioned that so many other local spots have crab Rangoons with imitation crab for $6. She was so rude to me and didn't offer anything for my frustration and refused a refund.

Hunger definitely gets humbled here. We came around lunchtime and caught what felt like the perfect balance of energy. Busy enough to get a feel for the restaurant without being overwhelmed, but by a little after 12, the crowd started pouring in, and the line nearly stretched out the door. That alone says a lot about how loved this place is on an ordinary day. I also appreciated the atmosphere -- it looked like parts of the space had been renovated (especially the tables), the warm wood tones made everything feel cozy and homey, and I loved the cultural wall and self-service stand. One thing I really enjoyed was seeing such a diverse crowd dining here; people from nearly every background packed the space, which felt like proof that genuinely good food knows no ethnic bounds. We started with the Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings, and wow -- these came out hot. Like, proceed-with-caution hot. But the flavor payoff was worth it. The broth inside was amazingly potent and flavorful enough that I genuinely didn't feel the need to dip them in sauce. The filling had this pleasantly crumbly texture in the best possible way, and the pork and crab felt incredibly well blended. An excellent starter choice. The Flavored Black Fungus w. Onions ended up being one of the most refreshing dishes on the table. Flavor-wise, it reminded me of Vietnamese gỏi -- bright, acidic, and refreshing. The red onions had been tempered through pickling, so they brought flavor without overwhelming sharpness, and the vinegar-and-oil dressing tied everything together beautifully. It's a smaller plate, but comfortably shareable between 2-3 people. The Hot Spicy Stew (Malatang) was honestly one of the most sensory dishes I've had in a while. The spice smacks the back of your throat the second you inhale it -- though "spicy" almost feels like the wrong word because it leans more tongue-numbing than heat-heavy. The Sichuan peppercorn usage here is fantastic. Super aromatic, deeply flavorful, and somehow every time my BF lifted the noodles, another wave of spices would hit the air and smack me in the face (in the best way possible). Between the bold colors, aroma, and flavor, this dish felt impactful from every angle. As someone who loves lamb, the Lamb Stewed Noodle Soup was probably my personal winner. It reminded me of a cleaner version of miso soup (which already tastes clean), but with an added lamb richness that made it so satisfying. The broth had this flavorful fattiness from the lamb that made me immediately think, "Yeah... I'm going to need 20k steps after this." Zero regrets. I would order this again in a heartbeat every single visit. The Suan Tsai Spicy Beef Rice Noodle was the accidental order, and unfortunately, my least favorite. My friend actually wanted the spicier beef noodle option above it and ended up nuking this bowl with chili oil, which he swore improved it a lot. For me, the sourness leaned unpleasant rather than balanced, and compared to the Malatang and Lamb Noodle Soup, the broth lacked the same richness and depth. Overall, Julie's Noodles absolutely delivers on comfort, flavor, portions, and value. Come hungry -- and maybe with friends, because these bowls do not play around.

Nice and crispy. The good old Hot Spicy Stew #25: 5/5 still incredibly filling and they're so generous with meats! I keep forgetting to ask for swapping the glass noodles with their regular hand pulled noodles, would do that. Friends had other noodle soups and enjoyed them all, as I thought. Julie's is still probably one of the best noodle shops in Austin. Amazing value, amazing service.

The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. Because the restaurant is rather small, I had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. Jim, one of the owners, said if I had ordered 3 items it would take about 45 minutes, that's why I went with one. The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.
