Since Covid-19, I understand that there is nothing on the table so I asked the server to bring me a ketchup and sugar for my coffee. But the server went different table to pick up the tip and start doing something else. I asked the server to get me one more time but it never happened. If I want sit down breakfast on the cheap, this is probably my favorite place. Too bad I don't live as close as I used to. Parking is always easy. They're quick with the coffee and the refills and the prices are the best around. They normally have combo specials that are an excellent value. The food is never going to be gourmet, and the decor is dated, but the average patron simply doesn't care. It just needs to be hot and consistent. I hesitate to say that the overall experience is a bit ghetto, but it's not a date place at all. I'm pretty sure that my wife won't come back with me, but if I want to head out with the boys and heal a hangover, this place works great! 2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the service 5 stars for the price. read more

I love this Spire's. I've been going since I was a kid and have so many good memories here (as in, numerous celebratory meals eaten within those walls and many, many friends have been turned onto this place by me). Truth be told, this was the very first restaurant my family and I ate at when we moved to the area. I agree that it doesn't have the most up-to-date decorations, but if you're eating at a restaurant for the interior design aesthetic, you're doing it all wrong - Spire's is fine enough as it is. Heck, I believe that the decor is part of its charm. The food is comfort food at its finest and the breakfast options definitely have a special place in my heart (and stomach). My husband swears by the pork chops, but I'm pretty fond of their Caesar salad with the small side of garlic bread. We both agree though that the soups are AMAZING. So here's to hoping that COVID doesn't wreck this place because if it does, I will truly be devastated. read more

Great location and very easy to find. Parking is ample and free, you'll never have trouble finding parking! Came here for Sunday morning breakfast and split the lumberjack breakfast with my boyfriend (for under $12 if I recall correctly?). This breakfast included 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 3 bacon strips and 2 sausages. Everything was cooked fine, the pancakes were quite doughy rather than fluffy, which is what I prefer. Again, nothing wrong with the food really. I've gotten the breakfast burrito before and I will probably get that next time as it was much more delicious and appetizing. The server was OK too. We had 6 people but we're only given 2 silverwares so even when we got our food, we had to wait for her to come back to ask for our silverware. For a large table I was surprised there were only 2 sets of silverware available on the table to begin with. No big deal, but the server should have been more aware when seating us or when serving our food. I'm not sure if the restaurant is meant to maintain the outdated look, but it did seem old and could use a little of an update to refresh the dining area. I still think it's cute to maintain the old decor and "dated" look but it felt a bit stuffy and reminded me of a grandma's house. I've been coming here for quite some time. I used to love it here. Until my wife and I have been having issues with a worker there by the name of Oscar. We're a gay couple as well and he has never been customer friendly to us. I've seen numerous times as well as experienced him never coming to check if my wife and I need anything else if we ask him he argues to us. One time I asked for extra ranch for my salad he replied, you have ranch on your salad. He will only talk and have customer service to Spanish speaking elder folk. I've been going here since the 80's I love this place for the best club sandwich I feel I had in my lifetime. It's a classic ! I also love the Chef's salad and Mushroom Burger on a wheat bun. But if your looking for a bargain go on the Chicken Fried Steak day you get salad,soup& dessert with your meal. All for a great price and it's tasty! I've been avoiding this restaurant for years and the dreaded day has finally come where I've been dragged to Spire's. I already knew what I was in for - dated interior, a ghetto atmosphere, and mediocre food. I wasn't even remotely hungry, but I reluctantly ordered coffee. The coffee tasted like it was brewed with water from a dilapidated fish tank. How can you possibly mess up coffee? I only took one sip and I knew I was done. The disgusting taste is still in my mouth as I sit here writing this review. The interior was an immediate turn off for me. Been to this Spires and others in the South Bay area several times now and I have to give a shout out to their fried chicken especially the Monday fried chicken special. They have the best fried chicken that I've had in a long time and the $9.99 Monday night special is fantastic. You get soup and salad followed by a half chicken with your choice of side dish, a biscuit or garlic bread followed by ice cream or pudding for desert. I give this a double thumbs up read more

If you want great food at a reasonable price, come to spires. You won't be let down. Some of my favorites: the beef eater sandwich served on parmesan crusted sourdough bread and server with au jous is simply to die for. The fettuccine Alfredo with chicken is also delicious. And if you want a good burger, try the San Franciscan, reminds me of a classic style burger my grandma would make. Worst bout of food poisoning I've ever had!! I ate breakfast here on Sunday, 9/26/21, and late that night I started feeling a bit strange going to sleep, and for at least the next 5 days (because I'm still dealing with it) I've been horribly sick with fever, chills, cold sweats, muscle and joint pain, and above all, incredibly explosive diarrhea! At first I somehow thought I'd gotten COVID, and had two separate tests done, and after they were negative I considered food poisoning and possible culprits. Due to the lack of cleanliness of the interior mixed with the strange taste of my breakfast, it's pretty obvious this place is responsible for giving me the worst food poisoning of my life. Last night I slept about 2 hours altogether, and over the past 24 hours I've passed diarrhea over 30 times. Now I'm on antibiotics. THANKS, SPIRES! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Spires is a very good restaurant. I can remember this place from the 70's when I was in high school. My girlfriends and I would eat the ice cream. Boy was it good! They had good steaks too. Or when we're in the mood to grab an inexpensive breakfast fast. For dinner, we usually get fried chicken, chicken fried chicken with gravy, or spaghetti for dinner. For breakfast, it's usually eggs or chicken fried chicken & gravy. We've been to a ton of breakfast places, and oddly, it's tough to beat this particular Spires' biscuits and gravy! It's just good at a good price. The dinner specials are ridiculous. Depending on what day you go the entre varies, but you always get a cup of soup, a small salad, entre, potato, veggie, bread (or biscuit), a drink and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. All that for well under $10. As much as I'd like to dine at Providence daily, I can't afford it! This helps balance things out! Service: Great! Always! Every waiter and waitress is really accommodating and friendly. It's a family atmosphere. Hints/Final thoughts: This is simply a guilty pleasure of un-fine dining! The type of food they prepare is done well, and it's comforting. The service is great and the price is equally great. We were trying to grab some breakfast before heading out to the airport. The food was decent. Nothing fancy about scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon. Good thing we planned for extra travel/traffic time. The server kept forgetting to bring stuff. She was worse than their other Torrance location. Service was slow. We almost missed our flight waiting for the food. It took almost 30 mins to get our food. It took almost 15 mins for the check. I gave this place one star for lack of service.
