An above-average sandwich shop in Chico. It's hidden away, behind Kathy's Sew & Vac, but worth the extra effort to check it out. Restaurant's interior has a rustic look. And it has a refrigerator section in back where you can choose from a variety of drinks. The sandwiches offered are tasty and fresh. You can customize your sandwich to your liking. They also offer soups, and, if I'm not mistaken, desserts. Service is fine - employees are ready to serve you and make your experience here worthwhile. Catering is available. I know because my work ordered from them. We got a wide array of delicious sandwiches.

We were pleasantly surprised when we came in and saw the interior. This little sandwich shop/delicatessen is tucked away in a back location and from the outside doesn't necessarily looking promising but is a delightful hidden gem. We ordered the BYOS (build your own sandwich) both roast beef, one with a sourdough roll and one with the sourdough bread. We also ordered a side of the macaroni salad and a pickles. Everything was delicious.

New York Style Pastrami (Wednesday only)

certain places for certain things... at Spiteri's Deli? everything they make is outstanding -- but what MUST you order? on Wednesday's only, the "New York" Pastrami. again, it must be Wednesday, and you must say "New York Pastrami" -- the difference between their regular daily pastrami and the special is like the difference between Walmart and Nordstrom's. okay, maybe not quite that drastic, BUT! my pro tip: get the full sized sandwich on a French roll, everything on it but hold the onions, ask for Swiss cheese. I asked for au jus because I always like eating any pastrami sandwich "beef dip style" and dunking every bite -- Spiteri's only has au jus on Thursdays and Fridays, however, I'm very happy to say that the NY Style Pastrami did not need it, it was perfect as it is, savory and juicy... what I may do next time? add some Thousand Island (or Russian) dressing, not sure which one they offer. Spiteri's continues to be an amazing Chico icon... much like The Donut Nook across the street from them, but that's a different review!

Sourdough roll with roasted turkey and swiss!

First-time trying this deli and was not disappointed. The customer service was great and the sandwich was great! Will definitely be adding this shop to the rotation. My only recommendation would be to potentially toast the bread but other than that it was good.

Wow. I read the Yelp scores and had to come visit for myself. My l had a Corner Beef and I had Turkey on a fresh Dutch Roll. Incredible wild rice soup. This place is excpetional. A hidden gem. Locally owned.

Hi, I'm back! I felt the need to update this review since my last one was over 3 years ago. Since then, I've moved out of chico, and even California and now live in NYC. (The deli capital of the USA) but still..... a sandwich from here is unmatched. It's always my first stop whenever I'm back in the area. I can't express into words how happy I am when I get the chance to come back. A sandwich from Spiteri's is what I crave the most when I'm out of state. I really do love this place so much, and I hope it's always here and never changes.

I wish this place was next door to my house. It is one of chico's best kept secrets. Awesome sandwiches with tons of sides to order, and they do pitchers of sierra nevada for like 6/7 bucks. They also have a nice outdoor area when its not raining. If it was closer to downtown it would be a homerun. read more

I have gone here a few times and I absolutely love it!!!! The service is soo polite and upbeat. The food is INCREDIBLE. I usually get the turkey with smoked cheddar on dutch crunch with lettuce, pickles, onions and mustard and mayo. Sooo freakin good. I have braces and love to eat ice, so their ice is great way to end a full cup of soda, which washes down this amazing sandwich. I try to get my sandwich made by Andrew. He is such a sweetheart and always gives me just what I like in perfectly sized portions. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to eat. And did I mention the egg salad? O.M.G. to die for. Plus my husband likes to have an ice cold beer with his sandwich, and they offer a WIDE range of ale and beer. Love it here. read more

Super delicious~! The place is well kept and clean, also has a great range of different sandwich ingredients. I recommend the Dutch Crunch (think of it like sweet sourdough) and cranberry sauce personally. The portions are also pretty big and the staff is friendly/competent. read more

Great pastrami, really nice & lean. Good quality smoked cheddar too, & the Dutch crunch is amazing. The piroshki was DELICIOUS, fluffy & warm, but full of meat. German style potato salad was good too, needed a pinch of salt. Best deli around. read more

Our company has had the opportunity to use Spiteri's to cater some events for us and they have been wonderful experiences. The owner Nicole is a pleasure to work with and always has a smile on her face. She personally took care of us from start to finish including delivery, set-up, and clean-up of our event. We enjoyed a variety of sandwiches including vegan and gluten-free, three types of salads including Asian Cabbage and Tortellini Pasta, and some yummy cookies and brownies. Everyone raved about how delicious everything was. We look forward to working with Spiteri's for future events. read more

First off, I think Spiteri's is average. One of the bad things about it is that the mac and cheese taste like it's been in the freezer for about a decade it's stale. One other reason is that there's to much like fat people here just like chugging down there food chips and soda and it makes me loose my appetite and it just disgust's me. read more

I had my very first trip to Spiteri's today and I was more than happy. I had a garlic rosemary turkey sandwich. I was about 4 inches high and thy did not scrimp on the meat. I must say everything in the deli case looked so good. They offer a variety of items to go with your sandwich or other goodies if you don't want a sandwich. I just wish they were closer to me. I would be there everyday trying everything. Line was short when I arrived, but very long when I left. That just goes to show you, they are worth the wait. Great Job!!! read more

I was on a hunt for a good veggie sand which since I moved to Chico. After a few kinda disappointing experiences I found this place-and my taste buds are so happy about it. The veggie sand which (I got it on a wheat roll) has sprouts, avocado, cucumber, typical sand which toppings and your choice of two cheeses! So good. Service was fast and very friendly. I also got a small side of Mac salad and red potato salad. The red potato salad is great once you add some salt. The Mac salad isn't anything out of the ordinary. But they have two other potato salads I'll have to try. read more

Downgrading my 2 stars review to a 1. Would be less as they say. But that's the minimum. This place is full of fast food employees who act irritated to have to make a sandwich. Which is pretty bad. In a sandwich deli. I will officially never be back here. They need to get rid of every irritable, unhappy, disgruntled person behind the counter. $25 is too much money to spend for two meals when you can even crack a smile. That's why S&S and Fast Eddie's are always busy. read more

Amazing selection! We go here for the Dutch Crunch! It's soft and doughy on the inside, crisp & crunchy on the outside, great produce and deli meats. They have fresh made guacamole that is smooth without all the extra garbage like huge onion chucks to distract. Pulled pork is also surprisingly good. Wide selection of sides like fresh fruit, pasta salads, potato salads, never disappointed in these! Tons of refridgerated drinks to choose from (sodas, teas, juices, lemonades and beer) or the option for self serve water and fountain drinks. Amazing crushed ice! Spiteri's is a decent sandwich place. It looks like the place hasn't changed in 20+ years. There always seems to be a line out the door, so obviously a lot of people like it enough to keep coming back - myself included. For the price, I would probably give Spiteri's 4 stars, but overall, I just don't think the sandwiches are good enough, so I give it a 3. There is nothing really to dislike, just a solid average in the sandwich category. Even with the long lines, the service is pretty quick. DISAPPOINTING - employees are not wearing masks! Spiteri's employees continue to work side-by-side with each other behind the counter - no social distancing, no covering their mouth or nose when preparing customer sandwiches, no gloves. I asked the Manager why Spiteri's was not providing or requiring employees to wear masks in order to protect both their employees and customers from COVID-19. The Manager said she was not required to period. Wrong answer and choice. I regularly chose to support local Chico businesses like Spiteri's - not anymore. read more

I came into Spiteris again the other day, and thought I should say a few things. This place has got to be one of the best sandwich shops ever. The staff is clean and efficient, pumping out sandwich after sandwich for all their loyal customers. The portions are great, I always walk away satisfied, and I know I always will.
