Garlic sausage pizza was great! Wasn't delivered with wheat crust as ordered. BBQ chicken salad was okay, it was fresh, but lacking chicken and other toppings, bought the large salad. 2 small salad dressing cups weren't enough and the ranch dressing tasted like bottled...not homemade which I was told. We ordered take out since we were on that side of town. We had never even heard of the place before. Pizza was amazing!!! We ordered a Hawaiian Detroit style and the supreme original crust. Very rude unprofessional owner. He sets up his "office" on the bar. He is rude to his customers and lied to me about the readiness time of the pizza and the other customers who were waiting for 30 min. The staff seemed nice and the pizza smelled good, but I left without my pizza simply because the owner was rude and disrespectful to me when I simply asked "do you have an eta on the pizza?" (I had been waiting for 20 min, when he had told me it would be 8 min, so I was checking in 12 min after the promised time, which was already 8 min late) and, he disrespected me as if it was my fault for nicely asking the readiness of the pizza. No excuse for anyone to treat someone else like that, especially the owner. He should know better. Advice for the owner... STAY OUT OF IT and let your employees do their job. If you have to come into the restaurant, keep your mouth shut and sit down in a back office or at a table and just observe. Don't interact with customers. You have no interpersonal skills. Stick to the books. Also, it's better to not know something rather than lying because you think you are smarter than others'. Finally don't disrespect anyone, especially your customers. We stopped here after we arrived at Boise Airport last evening because it was close and we were really hungry! This pizza is just AMAZING, and took me back to my childhood of growing up in the Detroit suburbs. We had the Detroit pizza but with sausage, mushrooms and olives in addition to the pepperoni. The pizza is caramelized on the edges, the bottom of the crust is crispy, chewy in the middle and the top was caramelized, crunchy. They put sauce on the top--which made it a beautiful site. It was a taste you can't forget! We had it for lunch today and still want it again! We will have to go back, even though it is an hour drive. It took 45 minutes to get our pizza. They kept bringing out the wrong pizza and asking if it "looked like what we ordered?" Found spitfire using Yelp on a pass through Boise. Detroit style caught my eye, so I thought I'd try it out. Just came back from a week long trip with a group of vegetarians, so the all meat pizza sounded like a good plan. I really liked the edges of the cheesy crust crisped up on the sides of the pan, but they were pretty stingy with the toppings for $30 IMO. Pretty good, but I'll probably try the thin crust next time as the Sicilian/Detroit thing did not knock my socks off. We ordered the small Detroiter and wheat pesto cheese breadsticks. Everything was delicious and very filling, my favorite was the pesto breadsticks, the pesto has amazing flavor! We had leftovers & everything heated up nicely in the oven the next day and still tasted great. We will definitely be going back. read more

I'd heard and read about the newest pizza place in boise featuring Detroit style pizza so I decided to try it with my movie group crew. First off, if you are a group of 4 or more this is not the place (the seating is very limited and they do not have tables you can easily pull together for groups). So their systems are still a work in progress; it's an odd set-up. It's clearly a sit down restaurant yet they don't have wait staff so you have to go up to the counter and order. Another oddity they have water in a water cooler-literally haha I've never seen that before at a restaurant. The water was out and I asked; they were so overwhelmed they just forgot so I had no water for my meal. The GOOD!! The pizza crust was unique; crunchy and with a nice bit of char/crust it was a delicious spin on pizza you don't normally find in town. Everyone in the group that ordered pizza raves about the crust. My major complaint with the pizza was the topping distribution; we ordered a Detroit supreme some pizzas had no sausage or pepperoni on it many just had one pepperoni or sausage on it. The sauce on top of the pizza was a nice touch too. Lastly, the decor was very odd and eclectic I couldn't figure it out I guess they are trying to be a sports bar. Anyways..This being a newer restaurant they have some obvious issues to address service and food wise (hire a server, have water for the customers probably get rid of that water cooler haha, better topping distribution) fix those and you'd be a five star in my book. I'd add I won't be back with a group it's not conducive to parties over 4 which is sad I'd love to support a local spot with large group business. If you are looking for a unique taste on pizza this is the spot to try maybe give them a few more weeks to work out the kinks :) read more

This Detroit style pizza has officially changed my pizza life. We ordered the BBQ CHICKEN pizza. ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL - life changing really! The crust has cheddar cheese baked into it so once cooked it has an amazing crunch and texture to it. The staff are so easy going and attentive. If we weren't just passing through, this could easily be a week night dinner go to! Also, LOVE the massive tap beer selection! We've eaten at Spitfire four times and ordered take-out once. We've only ordered the vegetarian pizzas. The Detroit-style is amazing. The crust is thick but light and fluffy. A decent selection of beers. Restaurant is still working out some service issues. We're not always sure where we should order pizza and beer (at our table or at the counter?) and whether is it open seating or not. But these are minor issues as the pizza is excellent. read more

I had never heard of Detroit pizza... and was a bit skeptical. We tried the Detroiter. This pizza is fantastic! Chewy, with a tangy almost sourdough-like crust, amazing cheese that gets so crispy and delicious on the corners, and great sauce. When this place opened some friends and I wanted to check it out, but couldn't get a table. I understand why... The pizza is great and a different style than what I'm used to. It's a style that's perfect if you like crispy, crusty, cheesy edges; if you love cheese in general; or if you like saucy pizza. They also have a large beer menu with a lot of local favorites and seasonal brews. Any of the dark stouts have been delicious. A few big screen TVs showing different sporting events in the dining area. Separated from that, is a bar if you'd rather be closer to the tap. I'm a big supporter of individual mom/pop places to eat and will rarely do the chains. That's why I was looking forward to trying Spitfire. I ordered the Detroit All Meat pizza. Unfortunately, the ingredients were extremely high in sodium and not sure if this is intentional by the owner to encourage more beer sales. Some people might not care about sodium levels, but this was an issue for me personally. I would definitely return if you offered products with less sodium. read more
