I've been wanting to come here for quite sometime since I love the other restaurants in this group. So I was super excited. The atmosphere is really great and I love what they've done to the place. The food was okay, but I was most turned off by the fact that our waiter kept wiping sweat from his head. He also wiped his nose once. Never once did I see him go away to wash his hands. He just kept working. I think this turned my stomach sour and probably made me not enjoy my food as much. read more

City Group has opened another great restaurant in the capital city. What a great, unique concept with dishes you won't find anywhere else. I really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant--though as a person who is hard of hearing, it was a little on the noisy side. The service was excellent--no complaints or concerns there. There are so many things on the menu that I want to try so we are already planning out what we will get next time. This time, the group of us shared the sweet vidalia onion rings that came recommended. If you like onion rings, these will not disappoint. They were not too thin and not too thick--they were battered consistently and the batter had great flavor! The remoulade on the side tasted more like a traditional aioli to me but regardless it was a perfect complement to the onion rings. For the entree, my date got the meatball stroganoff and I got the country fried brisket. Another party member got the stroganoff as well and one got the ciopinno. There were no to-go boxes needed here as no one left any leftovers. The stroganoff was described as "comfort food." The ciopinno had a variety of seafood that appeared perfectly fried and I was told it had a nice kick for those spicy food lovers. I am a huge fan of country fried steak and brisket, and really the potato pierogi had me most intrigued. This dish was delicious. Although the brown gravy was quite tasty, if I had one critique it would be that there was too much of it and I felt like my food was swimming in it. Nevertheless, the brisket and pierogis (I had two) were fried to perfection and really packed the flavor. The dessert menu looked quite impressive, so of course we had to try something on our inaugural visit. They rotate pies and cakes weekly. Tonight we tried the Swedish apple pie (not pictured). It had good flavor but unfortunately I was left a little underwhelmed. It was cold, which is fine, but I guess I'm used to apple pie being served hot, tasting fresher. It was just okay--and I probably wouldn't order that again. I think next time I might try a milkshake or the cake. In any case, it was a fantastic experience, and I will be trying the croffles next time! read more

Cute restaurant that serves southern food with a twist. I haven't had their brunch items but heard they were fantastic. I was able to get their Pastry Basket to try and OMG, everything from bread to biscuit to scones to jam and butter... so delicious. We also got the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and it was good. I just wished the tomatoes were a little more crispy. I ended up getting the Country Fried Brisket plate and to me, it's so comforting and satisfying. The brisket was tender and you don't see a lot of restaurants down south serving pierogis. Also, would recommend making a reservation before coming and parking is limited. read more

Food is just ok, nothing inspiring enough to make me want to run back or send friends. Sitting at My outside table on a beautiful day was the highlight but if the food is not exciting what's the point? Service was good. Kitchen was slow. Prices were reasonable. Biscuits - a little dry and ordinary at best. My savory waffles said avocado on menu which I pictured to be sliced fresh, but it was avocado mash instead which was a little disappointing and the dish just didn't come together to be very good at all. Food temperature was Luke warm. Wife said pancakes were just ok. The iced tea was good. Hashed browns were no different than Waffle House - which is fine because I like Waffle House hashed browns. I slid my fried egg from the waffle and made my own stack on the browns to salvage the meal. Another new BR restaurant that spends tons of money on remodeling and go through all of that trouble only to deliver a basic, unimaginative, and mediocre taste experience. The place was packed and will likely stay popular with diners that don't know the difference or have lower expectations. The one reviewer who said this was the best restaurant in LA has me concerned and feeling a little sad for him. read more

I've been to Spoke & Hub a few times now with my husband. Each time we've gone it's been such a good experience. We have only eaten there twice but it was delicious. I got a tasty burger and he got the meatball stroganoff which he really enjoyed. The other few times we sat at the bar and just ordered drinks. Their cocktails are very well crafted and always great service. We have been to the speak easy in the back and it's definetly a very unique experience. The bartenders back there are true mixologists. They really take pride in what they are making and I would consider it art. It's such a cool environment because I feel like I am transported into a different state. It's very dark and peaceful and overall just a great vibe. Best Martini I've ever had at the speak easy. The only thing I'll say is I wish they had more covered outdoor seating for hot days. read more

Went to Spoke and Hub last Friday night for the first time and the experience for me gets 3/5 stars. The inside is very pretty which is always a nice addition. I got the fish tacos and curly fries. The fries were room temperature but got cold very fast. The fish tacos were really spicy because of the raw jalapeños that are on them. They are little pieces of jalapeño so it was hard to pick them out but once I got them all off, I enjoyed the tacos! My parents on the other hand had the crawfish bisque and they did not like it. The heads were stuff with cornbread which is not right. Also, it does not come with rice so it's more like a soup. We had the queso spinach dip as an appetizer and that was good, would recommend that dip. I finished off dinner with a strawberry shortcake sorbet. They vanilla soft serve that was in it was good but the shortcake at the bottom tasted stale. Overall, I would say give it a try but don't have too high of expectations. read more

I visited this restaurant before in the past and the chicken sandwich was delicious. However, I was disappointed during this time. My friend ordered shrimp and grits. Went here the other night with my girlfriends and had so much fun. Place was so cute and the food and service was great. Only reason I am leaving 4 instead of 5 stars because the bar took forever and on top of it taking forever none of us loved our drinks. We tried almost all of them on the cocktail menu and they were all good but none of them were great. All in all highly recommended and will be back. The food was so good! The service, not so much. My server was great. I ordered the crawfish bisque, I didn't like it because it tasted burnt. We asked for it to be taken off the ticket since I only ate TWO bites to try it. She said that she could do it for us and when she gave us our ticket, it was still on there. We asked her, gently, about it and she apologetically told us that the current manager said we had to pay for it. The manager did not come out to speak to us and explain. Then a different server asked about our problem, pretended like he would help, but didn't. My friend and I split the Shrimp & Grits & the Crawfish ettouffe, it was a great portion size & Tasty. Well if you have reservations for 10 they will tell you they dont want their waitress to have too many people in their section so they will split your party one table on one side of restaurant and the other table on the other side , inconvenience the paying customer and not have your staff working the reservation. Might have been because of our skin color because they sure were accommodating for other guest, leaves no other explanation so that is all I can assume. Even asking 3 times that having a reservation for a family gathering could they at least put 6 at one table and 4 at another close table, no they couldn't . We have eaten here a few times previously and thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. This time we were very disappointed with the menu changes and our favorite items no longer being served. The chicken fried steak was hard to find in the batter and the gravy was bland. The mashed potato gravy tasted straight out of a can. The Hub fries were greatly missed along with the other roast beef dish. The chicken cruffle and several items as well. Service was slow as well. We moved to the Brakes Bar as we always have after dinner and the disappointment continued. The vintage decor was reduced, the menu was nowhere near what it was previously and the drinks were just terrible compared to previous visits a few months ago. We were told that the bar was under new management. Hoping things are brought back for the restaurant and the bar. We loved recommending both places but not after this visit. read more

Went to eat there & was greeted with great hospitality. The scene was more of a 80s kind of vibe and it was very clean. The waiter was kind and came and checked on us periodically and didn't harass which was a plus in my book. I ordered the smother chicken plate which was a 10 out of 10. I also ordered the Mac and cheese which was also a 10 out of 10. Would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant. They will definitely be seeing me again real soon. read more

Such a cute place. Unfortunately, the service was not amazing. We did go on a Sunday right after brunch time, but they were not busy at all. We got seated and immediately got asked for drink orders so we had high hopes. After our first drinks we waited about 45 minutes for our food. (Salmon Cesar salad, Philly cheesesteak wrap, shrimp and corn bisque). During this time we had to call someone over to get another drink as ours had been out for 10 minutes. Once we received our food the salmon was completely raw with only the very top outside browned. There was also multiple hairs in the salad which enabled me from eating it. The corn and shrimp bisque was decent, but very thick so definitely a preference thing! Flavor was there. The Philly cheesesteak wrap included big tomatoes in it which I wouldn't have included, but it was very good!! I would love to come here another day and try other items as I've heard such good things. But these were not what we should have ordered. read more

Im obsessed with this place! So far I've brought my coworkers, husband, kids, sister-in-laws and everyone can't get enough. From the ambiance, to the food and the little touches they give...when we brought our kids they gave us board games to play while we waited and another time our dessert had a smiley face. Everything I've selected so far has been delicious and they have this milkshake moonshine concoction that I can't get enough of. It's just a fun place honestly (even when it's bustling on a Sunday afternoon...just have to wait a bit) and the staff is so friendly; we always ask for Jonathon (aka Johnny Boy) in particular...he's so funny and attentive, probably one of the best servers we've had. Taste was there, but meal came out colder than what I would like it to be, could have made a great impact. Fries are thin and tend to cool off immediately, and the aluminum pan was not hot which contributed to a colder plate hitting the table.
