I've committed to going out to eat only 2-3 times a month so I ended up on the tail end of August wondering where to go for lunch one day. A quick search for all-day breakfast, turned into a visit to Spoke & Hub. Located on Gov't St, this new fan favorite (it's me, I'm the fan ) is serving up your favorite Southern classics w/ a modern twist. I started off with a croffle. Part croissant, part waffle, all fresh and the accompaniments were delicious (Steen's Cane Syrup, butter, and jam). I ended up drinking a Queen's Tea (think mimosa but a hint sweeter) and after being told they were out of bacon sticky buns opted for the Shrimp and Grits. This was a decadent and flavorful portion with just the right size shrimp and the creamiest of grits. I even took a Wine on the Geaux (I chose the rosé in a can). The atmosphere of this place was great! There was plenty of parking in the front and on the side. It was bright, open, playing the hits from the 90's and early 00's and everybody was helpful. We were stuck as a fire stone 6 miles away with nothing but fast food around us and decided to use Yelp to find this restaurant. All though the picture of a half eaten burger was not appealing to my wife I checked out the breakfast menu and liked what I saw so I was with some cajoling and Uber we found our way there. First the service was spectacular Kia who I found out later was one of the managers and another gentleman who I get the sense was also a manager really took care of our table as they were pretty busy and got busier as the day progressed. We started off with Bloody Mary's asked for them spicy and that's what we got. Salty if you like them that way and I like The little details like a full stalk of celery in a hurricane glass. We had the bacon sticky bun which is basically a warm gooey cinnamon sticky bun with bacon how the hell can you go wrong with that it was awesome! The Boursin cheese tort with Focaccia toast points was killer. Tomato pesto scallions and green apple made the spread incredible. However, we continue to eat and had the signature couffle both sweet and savory and they were awesome as well. If I spelled the croissant waffle combo and correctly I apologize! It afterwards because our ride had not come to get us yet (our daughter) we spent some time outdoors on the patio with Madison who continue to bring us mimosas and was also kind, friendly and welcoming. This place was so darn good that I almost wanted to shed a tear (just kidding), but it was good. For appetizers, we ordered the 1. mighty lite (grilled cauliflower & Broccolini, gremolta, spice candied almond, shaved paramesan) and 2. Cheese Torte (Boursin cheese, Pesto, Provencal tomatoes, focaccio toast points.) For entrees, we got the BR hot chicken on a CROFFLE, which is a tasty waffle with a croissant dough and Seared Oyster mushrooms. The croffle was very unique, texture of a waffle but doughy on the inside, which is a good thing. The seared oyster mushrooms consisted of sweet pea cous cous, roasted squash, and pickle mustard. It was so delicious that it made me question myself if I wanted to become a vegetarian for a second. For dessert, I got the Watermelon dole whip. I love what they did with the decor. Service is fantastic, even when busy! We came for brunch on a Sunday, and even with my picky taste buds, I found several things to try. Bacon Sticky buns are to die for!!! They are a must when you visit. The bar selection is good and even have boozy milkshakes. We didn't make it to dessert but will definitely be back. Oh. Y'all. Get ready for your happy food dance with those glorious Seafood Stuffed Eggplant Balls! I love eggplant but am always hesitant to order it because some places just fry a slice and it's meh. THIS dish? Not even close to meh. It's a 10/10. The creamy texture of the inside with the crisp outside (think boudin ball, but lighter) and the sauce combine to bring a perfect umami taste. Also highly recommend the 3 napkin roast beef. My husband destroyed that! He had a tequila old fashioned (on their menu), and while it's good, we won't order that again. The Bushwhacker, though, I will order over and over. My wife and I really enjoyed our first visit so we decided to return. We had the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and butter beans, and the grilled cheese with red pepper bisque, all of which were great. I also ordered a meatball poboy, and when it arrived I immediately realized that the gravy that was mentioned in the description was missing. When I brought it to the server's attention, she also seemed confused because the poboy was totally dry. She said she'd go ask the chef for a side of gravy, and a few minutes later she returned; however, she didn't return with gravy, but rather with some pan drippings mixed with water. The flavor was extremely strong and off-putting and basically inedible. I wish they would've just been honest and said they were out of gravy or whatever the case was, and asked if I'd like something different instead. That's the only thing preventing me from giving the place a 5* review. read more

Nice interior. Walked in place not full. No one was at the front to seat us. We were looking around wondering if we should seat ourselves. Almost 3 minutes later someone came from the back near kitchen then we were seated. If you looking homey style meals you won't find many as breakfasts seem to be thing. The waitress was very polite. Arrived on time for a 10 am reservation on Sunday march 23rd. I was in a party of 4. There was one person taking phone orders while our party and several others waited for 15 minutes while she got off the phone. It was ridiculous that the management let customers stand around waiting for phone orders to be completed before seating waiting customers. The first thing that caught my attention was the ambiance. It was unexpected but a pleasant surprise. I was also impressed with the outside seating area although it was raining. My husband came for the pancakes and wasn't disappointed. His only complaint was that the food wasn't hot. This maybe the fault of the server. I had the burrito and it was huge and delicious. I've had much better luck at this place before. Perhaps I should stick with their breakfast offerings. But I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak PoBoy and it was, quite simply, a mess. The bread to meat ratio was all wrong with a meager amount of shaved beef. And the "queso" was half spread on the sandwich and half on the plate. Haphazard presentation that was totally off-putting. It had the consistency of the spray can cheese. What's happened here? New management that is missing the mark? It used to be a favorite but it will be a while before I return. Service was unbearably slow. I almost walked out. Food was not good enough to justify waiting over an hour for our food. The waters alone took over 20 minutes. Had the seafood eggplant, grits and shrimp, and chicken biscuit. All were ok, nothing to talk about. Service is top notch here. Jonathan was attentive and accommodating without being overbearing. I would ask for him if you have a chance to eat here. The croffles (croissant waffles) intrigued me when I saw them on another reviewers post so that was the driving force behind deciding to dine here today. They were a little more dense than I anticipated but that made them that much more filling. The fruit was fresh and tasty. Overall I'd give it a 4.5 out of five stars. My husband had the Rancheros Hueveros. He said there was a bit of spice to it and when mixed together (it's a layered hash brown bowl), it had a lot of flavor. I would return to try some of their non breakfast options. Note though...if you're looking for breakfast, they serve it all day so no need to limit your visit to the AM hours! read more

We hosted a gathering for 16 people after LSU graduation. The entire experience was outstanding. Our waitress was top notch. She handled a table of 16 with perfection and attention to every detail. The food was incredibly tasty and fresh. Some guests had breakfast while others ordered lunch. Yet everything came out together for us at once. I highly recommend this restaurant. Tried this place out for the first time. The building is nicely updated inside. Plenty of outdoor seating. The food was good. We had fried green tomatoes for our appetizer. They were good but would've been a little better if sliced a little thinner to make them more tender but the flavor was great! New restaurant that open not long ago. I was in the area and decided to check out this new venture with a friend. This space is very inviting. Spoke & Hub has a bicycle theme. They even sell bicycle accessories which is pretty neat. The bar, in the area where they make the deserts has like a movie theater vibe going on. It's like the old school theater that has the signage kind of like where you were read the names of the movies that's lit up. But in this case it's the menu. Inside of the restaurant it was pretty chilly. So I wanted to sit on the patio. Not long after it started to rain so we had to move indoors. The service was good. Except for I asked for a special request. The waitress said it wasn't a problem. But she didn't do what I asked her to do. I asked for a fresh slice of cake there were two cakes on displays one was a brand new one, the other one had one slice left and the presentation wasn't the best and it didn't even look like a full slice of cake so I didn't want that one. I wanted cake that was not cut into yet.....But other than that my first visit to Spoke & Hub was good. I wanted a light snack so I got an appetizer which was the "Mighty Light" Grilled Cauliflower & Broccolini, Gremolata, Spice Candied Almond, Shaved Parmesan. And it was happy hour so I definitely had to take advantage of that. I got the drink called rest stop fruit cup which was really really refreshing. They have some great options for desserts. They offer featured cakes/pies. I decided to get the feature flavored which was chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was just OK. My friend had the nectar boozy milkshake which was pretty tasty. Went to Spoke and Hub on a Saturday morning around 10 am and was pleasantly surprised when we were able to walk right in and be seated immediately. We got the biscuits for an appetizer, I got the savory croffle as my meal, and my friend got the fruit croffle. To be honest everything was mediocre. Both croffles could've been better.
