The service here is atrocious. I ordered 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches online. When I came in to pickup I went to the area with the big sign "Online order, pickup here". I stood there and waited for about 5 minutes. No one helped me. No order was there waiting for me. I saw a coffee that looked like mine on the other side of the counter. Went over and sure enough it was mine so i asked about the rest of my order. "Did you tell anyone you are here for a pickup?", in the rudest tone imaginable. I said I've been standing under the online order pickup sign. "Oh we've gotta get that sign taken down". Ummm, yeah I would think so. Why be so rude about it? I miss this place so much! I work next-door, at Jims Steakout for six years! And I would go here almost every day. The staff is delightful, the managers are even better and they really develop a connection with the customers and the people around them. Their food and drinks have always been on point, exceeding my expectations. I don't know what else to say except I love this location so much. They also have a huge sitting area that looks out onto the street and it is so beautiful! The bathrooms are clean. It's amazing place to study, get some work done and enjoy some great food read more

Loved it here! It's a big place with plenty of seating, some tables with wooden chairs, some leather cozy seats, and a back room and a separate roasting room. Nice pendant lights, wood counters, very comfortable! Loved my Mike's Sandwich - which tasted better than it sounded (egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese). My Japanese iced coffee was so good I didn't need creamer. If I were in Buffalo for a longer period I'd be back here to try something else! read more

Spot gets 5 stars on so many levels. First and fore, thank you from the bottom of my heart for serving Breakfast past typical "breakfast" time. I ordered The Mike Sandwich on a everything bagel and not only did it look beautiful, it tasted so amazing! My first thought when I bit into it was, "mmm this hot the spot!" Then I chuckled to myself (pun was not intended). Seriously though. Egg cooked to perfection for a sandwich, bagel crisped to perfection while still being airy and fluffy. The bite into the sandwich before even tasting the ingredients, was so satisfying. I also ordered an iced coffee to go along with it and another win- they have the lids with a drink spout so you don't have to use their gross tasting biodegradable straws. Lol. I appreciate their efforts to be eco-friendly and having the paper straws, but I can't stand the taste of those. I cannot neglect to mention the vibe here. First of all, baristas and bar in the middle, LOVE. This is one area I feel the larger coffee shops (like the disgusting one across the street) fall flat. It is so much more communal when it feels like the baristas and coffee making action is amongst the guests. However, don't fret if you like to be away from the noise. There's a separate section with plenty of seating in the back which allows you more privacy, piece and quiet, or just space. Speaking of seating - big and small tables with chairs inside(check!) Seating with tables outside(check!) Couches and comfy chairs for lounging with a coffee table(check!). Dang I wished I lived in the area because this would be my Spot!! Highly recommended by a self-proclaimed coffee shop aficionado; happily divorced from the Green Canopy since Feb 2017. Have never looked back in my pursuit of amazing coffee shops and local roasters. Read a lot about the coffee here and did order my mocha which I must was good. Also tried the chai tea latte and it was equally good. Ambience- huge sitting area. But this place is a little noisy so if you're planning to work here it may not be the best option. Also the wifi here is slow. They have self service set up. You order and get your food. Food- I went for the combo ( soup + half panini) I think it was full panini that I got. Very big portions. Panini has choice of salad/chips. FORGET THE COFFEE... get the Chicken Focaccia Sandwich. It's one of the best sandwiches in the area. If you're a coffee spotter, it won't take you too long, sitting across the street in your unmarked SUV or Hybrid Vehicle, peering through binoculars, focusing on the service desk inside this establishment, for you to "Spot Coffee". Which is how this place got its name. What to get: Chicken Pesto Focaccia Sandwich. I'm not a fan of the coffee at Spot Coffee (or of coffee in general really), but I have to say that in the long, long ago... in the before time... I used to come here all the time, and loved it. It was a nice refuge from the run-down and depressing neighborhood I lived in on the East Side. I spent far too much time in the warm, cosy innards of this spacious and eclectic coffee shop right in the heart of Buffalo, on the Chippewa strip. I am pretty sure that back in those days (99-01) there was only one Spot Coffee, and this was the one. The star of the show was the Chicken Focaccia Sandwich. It was one of the most delicious things that this young, inexperienced and foolish child loved to eat. I don't even know if they still have it... it was a melty luscious blend of pesto and cheese and lettuce and chicken. I'll have to go back and see if indeed it still exists. I'm sure it does, it was ridiculously popular. I wonder if it will still be as good, these days. If it is, I'll be bumping this place up to a 5. Edit: I have now been back to Spot Coffee and I sampled the new incarnation of the legendary Chicken Focaccia Sandwich just last week, and it is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It's off the charts yum. It's tender and juicy and luscious and pesto-y as always, but now it has this lovely red sauce on it too (that tastes like the sauce from Niagara Cafe that I love so much... what if it is!?!?!?!?)... and it's just amazing. It's actually one of the best sandwiches in all of WNY. It's that. Damn. Good. Later in life, I played a couple of mini-performances here and it went okay. read more

I'm a big fan of this location. Aside from having great coffee, the staff here is incredibly pleasant. I've been coming for a year and today found out that one of the people at the counter knows my name and a bit about who I am..just from the times I've been coming here. I generally grab a coffee here and do a little bit of morning work and haven't taken the effort to get to know much of the staff, but they know and recognize me which is nice. Lunch time may be busy, but I generally come here for some coffee and meetings. The wifi is nice and reliable now that they've protected it with a password and you simply need to ask the staff up front for a password. It keeps the network fast for all of us, which is nice. I'm not a big fan of the sandwiches at Spot locations, but think they have some mighty fine soup so you may find me ordering that from time to time. Parking may be tough here because it's downtown and they don't have a private lot like the Starbucks next door, but if you're willing to walk 5minutes you can usually find free parking along Johnson Parkway down by the New Phoenix Theater. read more

I came to Buffalo for a conference, and this seemed to be the only breakfast place near my hotel, other than restaurants inside hotels. I ordered the matcha tea and a California veggie omelette, while my colleague got a regular coffee and a Mike sandwich. The drinks took a bit to get, but the food took a very long time (a little over 20 minutes?). I ended up throwing away my matcha drink, as the matcha was dark (not fresh) and not too flavorful. My colleague enjoyed his sandwich, and my omelette was okay, except that it had no salt on it. For a coffee shop, it was also very strange that they did not have stirrers. Stopped in around 8:30 am for food and coffee. It was my first time at this location. There was a little bit of a line but the staff was working hard and very friendly. I ended up getting a tall Guatemalan coffee (which had me awake all day!) with the Mike sandwich on focaccia. The coffee was very flavorful and reasonably priced and the sandwich was AMAZING! They asked if I wanted to add anything to it and I'm glad I didn't because it was great the way it was. Two fries eggs topped with melted provolone on buttered focaccia? spread with cream cheese... Oh my gosh my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The only disappointment I had was the wait time. It took several minutes to get my coffee, and 15 minutes from the time I ordered until my sandwich came out... Longer than I was anticipating but I made it to work on time so that's all that matters. Would love to come here again, but next time will give myself at least 30 minutes. read more

We visited Buffalo a few weeks back and was looking for a nice local coffee shop for our morning coffee drinks. I stopped into SPoT, the shop was comfortable and inviting. I was looking forward to a nice cortado (which is on their menu). When I placed the order I was advised they didn't have a barista working who could make it, so I asked about a latte and was advised that they could make the lattes. After about 5 minutes, one drink was complete and the staff member had to stop making my order to help the other 4 customers in the line that formed since I ordered. I looked at the one finished latte and it looked like chocolate milk, was luke warm and was pretty much warmed milk with espresso added. Not wanting to wait any longer for substandard drinks, I did advise the worker that I was leaving, she offered a refund but, I wasn't going to hold up the line any longer so I just left and went across the street to the national chain, that I had avoided earlier (there I got the raised eyebrow when I asked for a cortado). It appeared there were only two very inexperienced employees working, they both appeared to be doing their very best although they were set up for failure by their management, owners and/or coworkers. 8AM on a Friday morning here's an open coffee shop that can't serve an espresso drink. It was a welcoming little shop, I may give them another try next time in Buffalo. read more

Go to local coffee joints. The Spot has its roasters right there on premises. Nice selection of bakery and fast, polite service. My 4 shot latte was properly made, robust but not bitter. I really enjoyed it. Spot clearly has a local following - there's a Starbucks right across the street but Spot was moderately busy at 9AM on a Wednesday morning. No complaints and if I'm in town and in the neighborhood again, I'll be back. read more

This location is nice and large with several tables and an abundance of outlets. The staff is generally friendly. The prices are not horrible, for being a hipster coffee house. The wifi tends to be strong and reliable. My criticisms: the back seating area tends to be pretty dark and poorly lit. The tables/carpets/bathrooms are not the cleanest. The food and drink, on average, is not the tastiest - that hipster style of cafe food that tends to look pretty good but taste pretty bland. Overall, though, I keep coming back, because it's a decent option for staking out a table and doing some schoolwork when I don't feel like getting in the car to drive to Panera. read more

Great alternative to the usual coffee, espresso, java, tea you will find elsewhere. These locations are a great place to come and be social, do work, study or read. The ambience is low key and the vibe is chillin. Very warm and welcoming. However, if you want something to eat here, expect to shell out some serious cash. It is NOT cheap, but the quality is decent and lots of healthy options. I noticed SPoT now offers catering. Although I didnt really read to deeply into it, there were catering menus on the counter. What happened to the Spot coffee shop? I have been coming to Buffalo a few times a year for close to twenty years and the Spot has always been my go to, ah -- spot. I can remember the first time I walked into the place. It was so counterculture and hip, much hipper than I could ever hope to be, but it was also inviting. You would order your coffee and "Mike" from a pleasant tattooed and pierced barista then take a seat on an ancient crushed velvet couch and sip your joe while looking at edgy art in the back room. Cool alternative music would fill the space and I would think, "damn I wish I had cool music like this on my ipod (this was when we still had ipods--and you couldn't sound hound a good song) Today I walked into the Spot and noticed a distinct difference. It took me a few minutes to put my finger on it because certain tenants were still intact. Chipper tattooed barista named Sara was there pleasantly taking our order and preparing our coffee. The "Mike" sandwich was still on the menu and served hot and delicious. The awesome almost Daliesque mural that I have studied so many times still took pride in place upon the wall, but that was all. In place of comfy rumpled second-hand couches and chairs were generic wooden tables probably purchased at restaurant depot. Instead of unique and edgy art and artifacts there were god awful cutesy chalk boards and Ikea looking lamps and globes. And this one gets me the most, instead of enviable alternative music filling the room there was the twang and triteness of modern Country music. I think I'm gonna be sick... Whoever took over the management of this wonderful place went through it like a seek and destroy cool missile and systematically eradicated everything unique about this place. Its like the CBGB club being take over by Carrabba's. Like Trent Reznor becoming the frontman for Florida Georgia line. Sara was friendly and efficient, the coffee was good and the Mike was as delicious as ever, nonetheless I walked out of there feeling like I had lost a friend. The service was a bit slow even though there were only 10 people in the entire cafe at 9pm. I just wish they gave me a ceramic mug instead of a Styrofoam cup for my drink. This place is so clean the bathrooms and the floors and this food is unbelievably amazing

I was so optimistic and hopeful for a great meal here and was completely disappointed. The coffee was good the omelettes that we got we're good but the service absolutely unequivocally was horrible! The other person in my party got the same meal I did which was a veggie omelette with bacon in it. When we finally got our plates which were sitting at a counter, we took them back to our table and noticed that bacon was not in the omelette that my friend was having. He went back up to the counter and told the people and they took his plate away and put it into the kitchen. About 10 minutes later, my friend happened to look up at the counter and saw his plate sitting there with no one telling us that it was sitting there at all. So the bottom line was they did not remake the omelette all they did was put a couple pieces of bacon on the side and put it back up at the counter and did not tell us when the food was ready. We went up to the counter once and was trying to get the attention of somebody working there but they had headphones on and could not hear us trying to get their attention. The general attitude by all the employees there really really sucked! There was absolutely no level of Service in anyway. When we were speaking to some other friends who work across the street they also confirmed that because of the Inconsistent service there, they Will only go there every couple of months. It's a true shame that the service level is keeping people away from their food because the food really is not bad it was actually good as well as the coffee. But by having people that don't care about giving great service and acting like they enjoyed being there and serving that product I gave the restaurant two stars. The two stars were purely the level of food but I cannot give any more stars because of how bad and how non-caring The staff is that works there. It is amazing that the entire staff could be so bad but there was obviously no one there in charge inspiring them, greeting guests, and showing any type of appreciation that people are spending money in their restaurant. I enjoy this location because of its convenience being downtown. Staff here is pretty solid getting food and drinks out fast. Sometimes at high traffic times it can be a challenge to find a seat here or a long line, also parking at this location is probably the worst of any spot because it's downtown. However it's a cool atmosphere to hang out on a work break or get something good to eat. It is a bit on the pricey side compared to other food spots downtown but the coffee is worth it. read more

Poor expectations were set for timing by the online system and they have failed to execute. They may have received a best of WNY in 2019 but those days are behind us. This place really hit the spot lol. I got a raspberry scone and a coffee with a splash of almond milk, and it was perfect. If you love scones, I suggest getting one from here! My scone was excellent, especially when I dipped it in my coffee. My only complaint is the service here. The staff has an attitude and made me feel like a piece of shit for asking a question.
