The staff were friendly and professional. The music is amazing and the customer service was top notch. One of the items I had fell off the table when I went to grab the rest of my order and he gave me a replacement free of charge. This is my neighborhood coffee house. It is the best place to get coffee, espresso and blended drinks in the city, although I would be doing a disservice to Caffe Aroma on Elmwood and Bidwell if I didn't give them a nod as well. But anyway, this is about Spot! Spot is quirky (note their in-house lingo) and is generally a relaxed place to hang out, although busy = noisy keep that in mind. The Spot on Elmwood is usually very busy, so seating space, especially in winter, can be at a premium - especially on weekends. Still though, they roast their own beans and offer them in the store, if you wish to buy bulk. Their House blend is probably my favorite local cup of any kind and is second to none. I drink iced soy chai from Spot all the time and I've yet to find a better one in Buffalo. However, by far my favorite and most guilty pleasure at Spot are the cincoshakes - trust me, they are brilliant. read more

I love coming here. First it was just for the coffee...(I always get a vanilla soy latte) and it's done well. I enjoy the atmosphere, how you can be by yourself and feel comfortable - or with friends. I have thoroughly enjoyed a few of their wraps...Hummus of various varieties..always so tasty I want to go home and make something similar! I also love their grilled cheese- on whole grain, yummy cheddar with small green salad - it totally hit's the spot! Spot is what it is: an urban coffee shop. Its execution is at par with Starbucks, without the consistency. They have my favorite carrot cake (dry but great flavor) and carry Republic of Teas Cranberry Blood Orange which is hard to find. In all though, I like their food more than beverages. The Spicy Tuna salad and Grilled Cheese Focaccia are worth the trip. The employees are your run-of-the-mill hippies and fledgling homosexuals. No big surprises, not great service, but it fits the bill. To note: earlier this decade, local owners sold this to Innomarque USA, Inc, which is the US arm of a Saudi oil comglomerate. Overall this is a cute coffee spot in Buffalo that offers good coffee, an eclectic decor and nice menu offerings. The Mike breakfast sandwich with the melted provolone and cream cheese is simply sublime. Service is average and the name calling system is not the most efficient on a busy weekend morning. Apparently, back in the day they used to give out a small toy to each waiting customer and would call out said toy when ready. Perhaps they need to bring that back to avoid confusion. read more

In a recent cross-country road trip (Boston to San Francisco), Buffalo was our day 1 lunch stop (day 1 was Boston to Michigan). We actually entered Buffalo planning to go somewhere different, but ended up parking in front of Spot Coffee and it looked super nom so we gave it a try. The food: We decided we didn't have time to sit down and eat, as we still had hundreds of miles to go, so we looked for things that we could eat in the car. I opted for a hummus wrap (black bean hummus with veggies and spring mix) since I was the one driving that leg and wanted something I could hold with one hand. Now while the wrap was tasty... it was SUPER messy and oddly greasy? How is a hummus wrap greasy? It made it difficult to eat... and wraps shouldn't be difficult to eat, so that sort of turned me off from it. My co-pilot got the quesadilla, which was very good... and he had the luxury of eating in the passenger seat, so no complaints there :-) The coffee: I will give this place a big thumbs up for their coffee. We both got the cold brewed iced coffee and it as SUBLIME. It was flavorful and the appropriate strength. The beverage menu was also pretty extensive and I would have loved to try some of their other concoctions. The atmosphere is very hip... so I could certainly see stopping in to enjoy some conversation over a delicious coffee. read more

I haven't tried anything else on the menu but Ive found the Breve and the Breve does me right. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff is nice. A snowy Saturday calls for hot beverages, at the very least. Wandering through Buffalo we saw what looked to be a nice, cozy... er, spot for a drink. Okay, it's WAY bigger than it looks and yet still kinda cozy. Settled in for tea etc. and free wifi, lots of people doing the same. Figured out where our next destination was, warmed up and headed out. There was a great array of baked goods, food and drink - but we were after donuts, and in Buffalo that can only mean one thing. Spot Coffee was filled with a huge range of people, students, couples on dates ( I am guessing), families, friends hanging out... it felt very inviting and open. read more

Hands down one of the coziest coffee shops I've ever been to. This place was my home when undergrad at UB and needing somewhere to study (that and the basement of Clement Hall...but don't let the secret out). Music is low and the large ceilings keep individual conversations at bay. Used and homey couches kept you firmly seated for hours while writing long winded papers. Coffee was awesome. Very strong and earthy with a nice amount of caffeine. I never ate the food tho. Too much of a cheapass. read more

This place is one of my guilty pleasures. The fact I walk by here on my way home everyday just makes it too easy for me to stop on in for there ice chia lattes and scarlet ice teas. I use to make all my best friend lunch dates here before I went gluten free. Wish they could add a few yummy gluten free options to the menu. This is my second favorite coffee shop on the West side. Really nice drinks, with a mix of hot frozen and cold beverages that are consistently good. They have nice baked goods and very good offerings for breakfast and lunch. Coffee art is very important to me, believe it or not, and on this front, Spot does very nicely. There is quite a lot of seating, with some of it at bars along the windows, so you can look at the pedestrian and bike traffic going by on Elmwood. read more

Having just moved from a very coffee-central city, I was pleased to find Spot coffee, even if it is a bit far from my house. Everything here is solid -- the coffee is good, the food is pretty good, the atmosphere is comfortable and their hours are great. The only thing is that their wifi is noticeably taxed. In the morning it is fairly functional, but come here on a weekend afternoon and most of the time it doesn't work. Fix that and I would make the trip here much more often. read more

We came here for a musical show about a month ago. Typical coffee shop vibe with typical college clientele. The coffee drinks and pastry were quite good. Unfortunately we hadn't had time to stop for dinner before arriving and decided to brave the pizza. I was hungry and so I ate it but it wasn't good. The main issue was the sauce. It must have been dumped on straight out of a Ragu bottle. My fault I guess for ordering a pizza at a coffee shop. I'll be back to Spot in the future but I will be sticking to coffee drinks. I'm feeling a bit biased here, but every time I've been there since we've moved to Buffalo I have placed my order with the usually flippant cashier who is probably taking picture with her cellphone, and I have waited EACH time atleast 5 minutes while everyone else gets there drinks until finally I go up and ask for my Tea or Hot Chocolate or Medium House blend coffee and they look at me dumbly and say 'oh' then I wait another minute until my order is ready. I like coffee, I am sometimes a coffee snob. I don't like Dunkin' Donuts, I don't like to support starbucks. I've gotten a bit past the point where I like to hang out at coffee shops, but if I did this place seems like it would be nice. However I can't excuse the staff, they are bordering on moronic. A bunch of hip college students who would rather sit around and make inside jokes or hit on the young scene girls than listen to the cashier when she shouts my order to them. I would stop going but they do have a DAMN fine cup of hot chocolate. It's a good thing I am pretty patient. read more

Even though I live close by, I can't seem to fathom Spot Coffee being a part of my morning routine. No drive thru, inside service for just a coffee takes a while (too long when you are trying to get in and out to go to work), and frankly it's too expensive. I don't even think the coffee is that great for what they charge. I would choose Tim Horton's coffee over Spot any day. Its quick, inexpensive, and GOOD coffee! I guess I would only go to Spot Coffee if I had A LOT of time, nothing to do, and wanted to spend close to $5 on a coffee. Let's put it this way, I have lived in the area a couple years now and I've been here once. This Spot location is probably my favorite in the Buffalo area. It has the same spacious vibe, lengthy coffee menu, mouthwatering-looking desserts, friendly baristas, and Barbies on the restroom doors as the rest. But this one is the hub of Elmwood Village, and as such, has a certain je ne sais quoi. It's smack dab in the middle of a bunch of other great businesses I frequent (like the Lexington Co-op) and foot traffic coming from Allentown and Buff State. It's full of students and professionals working with a full cup of chai at their elbows, with a steady stream of people always coming through the door. The corkboard's always overflowing with interesting information about the B-lo community. And on nice days, the patio is a scene, with hippie moms and hipster kids packed in shoulder to shoulder, eavesdropping on eachother and enjoying their iced lattes in the sun. It's hard to spend an afternoon here and not be tapped on the shoulder by someone you know, which to me, is a great thing. If I wanted to toil away in solitude and quiet, I wouldn't go here. Instead, I come to feed off the amazing creative energy Elmwood Ave has these days (and usually a quesadilla-of-the-day). More often than not, this is what helps me get my own work done. read more

I used to Come here all the time when I was a teenage whore and I thought it was the greatest place on Earth. Now that I'm a slightly less whorey adult, I still think it's pretty good, but maybe not exactly the same. When Spot was connected to New World Records, it was the perfect marriage. I frequent Spot Coffee on a very regular basis. Today I went in the Elmwood location to pick up a drink for a friend. It was very quiet inside, yet I barely got greeted at the register because the two employees were too busy chatting with each other to focus on the fact that a customer had been standing at the register waiting to order. After I ordered my drink (a drink that I am unfamiliar with, as I previously stated because it was for a friend) I pointed at one of the two drinks on the bar, and attempted to get a baristas attention if it was my drink. The barista made direct eye contact with me, and proceeded to not say a single word, but take a selfie. Taking the eye contact as verification, I grabbed the drink and left. (I didn't want to disrupt his personal on the clock photoshoot) Turns out, it was the wrong drink. If the barista could have just put his phone down and taken the quick second to differentiate between the drinks, the mistake would not have been made. I worked for a local business for many years and know how important it is to confirm orders with customers. I am so disheartened that I had to waste my time and money because a Spot Coffee employee could not bring himself to be bothered with a customer, because a selfie took priority. This place is terrible. I wish I could find something nice to say about this place, but then I would be lying. First and foremost, the customer service is terrible. I went in there to order some coffee and the lady at the cash register, her name was Jordan, strongly suggested I leave a tip. I don't know if this happens to other customers, but it discouraged me from offering any tip. I was not aware that I was welfare state to spot coffee employees. When I was waiting for my drink to be made, I noticed that another customer's drink was made incorrectly, yet the Spot coffee employees rolled their eyes and seemed like they did not care. The food is way overpriced. Overall, I would not go in to this coffee shop, that has its representatives trying to ask for tips instead of doing their job the best way they possibly can. This one's a big location right in the heart of Elmwood. I always stop in here after Saturday morning workouts for my latte. It gets super crowded on the weekends and the lines are usually a good 7-10 mins long. The service is quick and the lattes are always rich and creamy. This Spot is wide open inside and has a great outdoor area to sit on. Right in the middle over everything on Elmwood so you can get a fair amount of people watching in if you choose to sit outside. Service was a bit slow and I also never heard them call that mine was ready despite being very near to the counter. Everu Spot location is good in my opinion, but Elmwood is the best. I like Hertel a lot too as well as Delaware.
