Sometimes accidents lead to tasty meals. When we made a reservation for Sunday brunch, my mom thought she was calling somewhere else with a similar name but closer to home. Later when we realized the error we decided that maybe fate was telling us to check this place out. So we made the 50 min trek south and the rest is history. Upon arrival you notice how beautiful this place is, a historic building dating back to the early 1700's. Inside the building is full of original wood,intimate dining rooms and a beautiful bar. Our server for brunch, Jimmy, was outgoing and personable and took great care of us. Now onto the food, so much food! Included in brunch was a build your own omelet station, waffle station, carving station with ham and roast beef, peel and eat shrimp, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, eggs Benedict, French toast, chicken piccata, Mac and cheese, veggies, salmon and tons of pastries and desserts. The amount of food was massive and the price was affordable at $19 a person. All of the food was delicious particularly the roast beef with homemade creamy horseradish sauce and the omelets. We recently dined at the Spring House Tavern. We stopped in for a late lunch early dinner this past Saturday. The place is beautiful and it's like taking a step back in time. The building goes back to the 1700s and a lot of the old charm is still left to be enjoyed. There is a ton of natural wood elements and numerous dining areas. Our server was great! She was very personable and accommodating. The crowd is on the older end but the food was worth it. I started with the French onion soup. It was good. The onions were perfect and the broth had just the right amount of spice and salt. My only complaint would be more cheese. My wife had the turkey club with tomato soup. The soup was delicious! Perfect amount of acidity and spices. The club was equally as good. The bread while good was a bit on the thin side and didn't hold up to the packed sandwich. I had the crab cake croissant. Wow! The crab cake was on point! It was packed full of meat, moist and delicious. I would go back just for that. Overall it was a really good lunch and if were back in the area we would stop back in. Took my wife here for date night, we had never gone before. Very nice ourdoor patio. She ordered the seafood combination. Lobster was great. Calamari was all breading and very heavy on the pepper. The crab cake, supposedly the signature item in this dish, was actually missing! We asked the waiter who said "hmm I knew that didn't look right" (but brought it to us anyway, perhaps thought we wouldn't notice?) I got the chicken parm, would not recommend. Sauce had no taste at all. Our waiter was not at all attentative, yet the restaurant wasn't that busy that night. This is a pretty expensive place, I expected much better. We haven't been out to eat (dining-in) since March. We have been reluctant and a little scared to get back into the restaurant game so coming here was nerve racking. Ultimately ended up being the best restaurant to venture to for the 1st time. This place is taking such great precautions. They take temperatures of all diners, all people are wearing masks, and social distancing is very appropriate. Their food was good. I wouldn't say anything out of the ordinary but definitely a good meal. I got the burger and was very happy with it. Their fries are delicious. They over cooked the prime rib a little. First things first, Ann Marie is the best! She is nice, attentive, friendly and a joy to have as a server for dinner. I live around the corner and have never been. I immediately noticed we didn't fit in with the average age of the crowd. But that's fine as long as the food and service is good and it was! Appetizers were great and entrees were delicious. My only complaint was the truffle fries had no truffle at all. and I told Ann Marie and she brought home out another batch which was better but I have had straight truffle, truffle salt, truffle oil and these tasted nothing like that. We have been going to Springhouse Ta Vern for years, probably 15 years. Saturday night , the night before Easter was quite a disappointment. My husband called for reservations and was offered 7:00 or 7:45. We took the 7:00, arrived on time and we were seated. We were a party of 6 celebrating my birthday. The snapper soup is always excellent. One appetizer, scallops wrapped in bacon were burnt. My mahi-mahi was mediocre at best. But the worst part of the night was, at 9:00 someone approached our table to see if everything was alright. It was obvious that they wanted us to leave. 9:00 on Saturday night??? I questioned the server and was told they closed at 9:00 because they had a brunch in the morning. I would think that should have been mentioned when we made the reservation. What would have happened if we took the 7:45 reservation?? I'm not saying we won't return but boy was I disappointed. read more

I attended a Baby Shower here a couple of weeks ago, Doug was our contact person and I think AnneMarie was our server. Both Doug and AnnMarie were very helpful and professional. We provided our own desserts but the food they provided was very good. My husband accompanied me to the Shower to help with setup and hung out in their bar area with some other guys that came along, they all ordered food and gave the food a good review. Their only complaint was with the service in the bar area, it's possible that the bartender was a little overwhelmed with the amount of people in the bar that day. He was very polite to me when I came in to get a drink and the drink was good. If I were to offer any constructive criticism it would be on the set up of the event room that we used which was the Gwynedd Room. I felt the flow of the seating could be improved on to provide a place for the person/persons that are being celebrated to be more center stage. I would definitely recommend this venue for family gatherings and celebrations. In addition to that, my husband and I are looking forward to going back for a Sunday Brunch experience. Stopped for dinner after some shopping. It's very quaint and cozy on the inside with dark wood and exposed brick. Sat at the bar and was greeted promptly by a very sweet female bartender whose name I did not get. Had the watermelon cucumber margarita to start. It was tasty! Followed up with the New England clam chowder which was one of the better NECC I've had in the area- it was fresh and spiced perfectly although the bowl was very small. Followed up with an order of BBQ wings and some fries. Both were average and decent sized portions. Service was good, food came out quickly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Went here for thanksgiving 2017. The menu options were great and service was excellent. It took a long time to be seated even though we had a reservation, but I didn't mind, the place was packed. The only issue was the beer...I ordered a draft and it was BAD, as in flat and gross. It was replaced without issue. My husband and I are regulars...we even got engaged in the bar! I just hosted a baby shower for my sister in the Hunt Room for 30 people, and it could not have been more perfect! Made a reservation for a large party and then were turned away when we arrived, maybe because we had children in the group. We had added comments to the reservation to accommodate a high chair and children. The host claimed he was "confused" but didn't bother reaching out. The host was not accommodating, there was practically no one there, and he refused to seat us and turned us away. We had received a gift certificate as well but will not be returning back. Been meaning to try this place for a long whole. Seeing how it's Friday before Easter, so no meat, we decided to try this place because they are known for their crab cakes around this area. Ordered: started with bang bang shrimp, shrimp was more breaded than I liked. Main dishes were broiled lightly breaded crab cakes, side of beets and cole slaw, seared ahi tuna special topped with crab with cole slaw and potatoes. The tuna was tasty, however the crab topping was salty. The seafood is already naturally salty. The crab cakes were good, it's their specialty. Ask for them broiled rather than the fried. All the sides is not worth the price point, either came from a can or plastic container. Service: slower not very attentive service. Waters were not filled when empty until asked. Food took awhile to come out. Dishes were not cleared until asked. The runner who assist the waiters missed these things. The waiter was decent. Overall: good bar scene with large variety of beer. Wouldn't make a special trip out here tho. Prices are high for what you get. Prob a good lunch spot. read more

I'm not concerned, I'm letting you know your own servers were commenting the private party people were drunk, not my words; words from your people. The servers waiting on tables near the bar couldn't get through, they were constantly tapping shoulders to get by. We were not the only people forced to leave the bar when the cigarette stinking drunks swarmed the bar, other people exited early as well. The person I was with suggested this place, so I stuck it out; never again. This appeared very mismanaged and the dinner was mediocre at best. One would think a manager would tell the swarm they can't block aisles, they can't stand 4" behind a person they aren't with, yelling and breathing their cigarette breath all over the place, and they can't encroach on others personal space. I guess the 3-4 hour holiday party wasn't enough for them or your cash registers. I travel for business and visit many restaurants, the Springhouse Tavern was the worst experience at a restaurant I've had in many, many years. read more

I've been here twice, the first as for a work dinner and I returned for another dinner with my husband. I wanted to come back because the crab cakes were so delicious, but that was probably the best part of the meals. The first time we had a large group and it was Friday night. The service was a bit iffy and the food didn't seem like it was cooked properly. We shared apps which were all delicious (BBQ bacon wrapped scallops, crab dip, bruschetta). Soups and salad came nice, nothing to rave about. I got the seafood platter for my entree which included a crab cake (delish even the next day!), lobster tail (overcooked), fried shrimp (overcooked), flounder and scallops. It also came with the potatoes and veggies of the day which were pretty good. I looked around at the other folks dinner, most got some sort of beef. I saw 4 filets, all ordered the same (medium rare) and all 4 ranged from medium rare to medium well. Service was okay, they didn't fill out waters for those who didn't drink alcohol and didn't replace utensils that were taken away. The second time we returned on a Monday night, it looked pretty quiet in the dining room. Our waiter had 4 tables by the time we were done. He seemed pretty frazzled and took awhile for him to stop by to take our orders. The food didn't take too long to come out but it took awhile for them to clear away our plates and only refilled my drink once (didn't refill my husband's water). At another table it looked like the kitchen messed up an order, so one person didn't have his entree, and by the time we left about 15 mins later it still looked like he didn't. We shared the avocado and crab stack which was pretty good. Large chunks of crab meat but the avocado was extremely unripe. I got the duck and a side order of crab cake and my husband got the cowboy steak and side order of crab cake as well. My duck was a little too overcooked for my taste, but the skin was crispy. My husband ordered medium rare for the steak and it was medium well. It looked too thin to properly cook to medium rare. Crab cakes were very good again. The veggies were okay but the potatoes needed salt and more seasoning. It just tasted like boiled potatoes. We decided to get dessert - pecan pie and snickers torte cake. My husband said pecan pie was good, but I thought the snickers torte cake has too much cream, and it was definitely not a "torte cake" maybe just chocolate cake. The only snickers was a piece of candy on top. I might return one more time to see if the food and service were just flukes, but I think I will just stick to crab cakes. read more

Springhouse Tavern has been greeting travelers since 1719. It was and still is situated on the Bethlehem Pike which connected the city of Bethlehem with Philadelphia. Besides its history Springhouse Tavern has a lot going for it. The bar area is very attractive and a good place for a beer and a light bite to eat. There are several dining rooms - some older than others. And then there is the food. If there is one specialty at Springhouse Tavern it is their crab cakes. They are fantastic .... made with a secret recipe that uses little filling and lots of crab meat. Mondays are crab cake night as they are on special but they are served every day & night of the week. The crab cakes come with a potato choice and a vegetable. The salad was only passable but I did like very much the dressing of cranberry citrus. Bread was of good quality. I don't want to forget the service which was friendly and efficient - especially I noticed to the many regulars dining here. Springhouse Tavern might just be around for another 300 years although I can't tell you that for sure! Tip - They have a nice outdoor deck in warmer weather. read more
