I knew I was paying more because I thought I was getting the best service and care for my car. I was wrong. A couple of weeks ago, my Boxster needed a clutch/flywheel replacement so I had it towed to the Porsche dealership for repair. (The clutch would not engage.) Porsche quoted me a ridiculous amount; 60% more than what they initially quoted me a few months prior when my transmission was just beginning to act up. I stopped by Escondido German Auto for a second opinion. (I've read about their excellent reviews on Yelp.) Austin, the service advisor, provided me his best guess of the possible issues, without seeing my car, based on what I described to him about my car's behavior. He sounded credible and was very professional, and he also gave me a more reasonable estimated quote. I was also very impressed by their clean, open service bays. I took a chance and had my car towed from the Porsche dealership to Escondido German Auto. Escondido German Auto did a thorough inspection and a detailed breakdown of the proposed work on my car; way better job than the Porsche dealership ever did. They also discovered a rodent nest and damage to the wiring harness of my car that the Porsche dealership missed. Brandon, the technician, did an outstanding job repairing my clutch/flywheel, documenting (including photos) the rodent issues for my car insurance claim, and cleaning and fixing the rodent damage. Austin, on the other hand, updated me daily regarding the work progress. He was always accessible via email, text, and phone. The job was completed in a timely manner; within a few days of bringing my car in. They even cleaned my car prior to returning it to me. Additionally, they emailed me a copy of my CARFAX report a few days later; unexpectedly. (That was the first time I've seen a CARFAX report of my car.) Overall, I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Escondido German Auto! Customer service, quality of work, professionalism, trustworthiness, and price are unmatched!! They've definitely earned my business and I will no longer be taking my car to the Porsche dealership. My Boxster now runs, sounds, and feels like a new car again, and I can't help but grin each time I get behind the wheel; thanks to Austin and Brandon! They were awesome! My wife will also start bringing her BMW X5 to them instead of the BMW dealership for service.

Michael provided a much more reasonable quote, but what amazed me was after I arrived, he opened the hood to show me what was happening. Sometimes as a woman, you're never 100% sure the auto shop is being fair when it comes to pricey repairs, especially when you're driving a reliable car. I would give them 10-stars if possible! I have to admit I was a little nervous about the service when I explained to him that Midas had told me that I did need to replace my front brake pads and he told me he didn't even know who Midas was. He did the service in a reasonable time about an hour just like he told me. and the price was right. so far the brakes are working pretty good.

Hours went by without any update. Throughout the entire time my car was at the shop, I was never proactively contacted. Every time I called, I was told Chris would call me back, but I never received a call. The biggest issue came when I noticed my car had about 10 extra miles on it. When I asked, Chris told me it was just a test drive. After I emailed Paul, the owner, he later confirmed to me over the phone that my car had actually been used to run a shop errand. Paul even told me himself that there was no excuse he could give for that situation. What makes this even more frustrating is that my repair didn't require the car to be driven in the first place. I brought it in because the driver-side door locking pin was stuck. When I picked my car up, nothing had been repaired and the issue I brought it in for hadn't even been looked into. It's hard to understand how there was time to use my car for a shop errand without my knowledge or permission, but not enough time to inspect the actual problem I came in for. Since my car was driven for reasons unrelated to my repair, I have no way of knowing how it was driven during those 10 miles. Whether it was driven carefully or aggressively, I should never have been put in a position where I have to question what happened with my vehicle while it was in the shop. I chose HQ Auto Sports because of the positive reviews and expected professional communication and respect for my vehicle. Instead, I experienced poor communication, conflicting explanations, unauthorized use of my car, and left with the same problem I came in with. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this shop.

After informing Farmers Insurance that I planned on using them for the repairs, Basil immediately reached out to me and asked if I could send him photos of the damage so he could order the parts ahead of time - eliminating unnecessary wait time. The morning I dropped my car off, Basil had one of his employees (Jesus) drop me off at Enterprise, which was really helpful. Throughout the entire repair process, Basil was communicative, caring, and professional. When my vehicle was finished being repaired, Basil arranged to have it delivered to me, saving me a trip down to Escondido to pick it up. I couldn't have picked a better repair shop.

I called 2 days later; he said he would send me the estimate by end of the day. Next day, still nothing. I called one more time then gave up. If they won't live up to their word (3 times) to provide an estimate I doubt they would fix the car in a reasonable time frame.
