There are so many people here at night... but it's all good. I was hungry during the night too. This is your typical donut shop; the ones that are usually run by Asians haha so it's pretty standard in its shop appearance and the donuts/food/drinks that they serve. Usually when I come to donut shops I just get a glazed donut ... this way i am able to determine how it compares to others like it. But this time, there were just... too many choices? I had a difficult time choosing. I ended up with a plain Cronut.... it was my first one. I really didn't know what to expect... but how I described it to my friend was "5 glazed donuts squished down together". It basically was how it looked like and is. It was really sweet and I had to drink something with it. However, it was fun to eat because it was semi hollow inthe middle. We also bought a bagel sandwich and the worker fried it herself with a george foreman skillet grill thing at the back of the counter. Service: it is extremely slow here at night. When I was here there was only one person working and I probably had to stand about 10 minutes in line to order. However, the worker behind the counter was very calm and collected despite the line of people waiting. She did her work and concentrated on what she had to do. And then when she served us, she was very nice. So I guess it's a nice trade off - they could afford another worker though. read more

I was craving donuts & my BFF encouraged me to try Spudnuts today since it was National Donut Day (June 5, 2015). I called & asked what time they closed (around 8pm) & I was informed 3am by a male staff. After reading a few reviews on Yelp, I just found out that they were open 24/7. So why was I informed a different time? Disappointed in their customer service. Myself & BFF finally came here at 12:45 am on Saturday June 6, 2015. We walked in & it was completely depleted of donuts. The nice female staff apologized but they were completely out of everything. An entire empty case of donuts! I wish I took a picture with my phone but I left frustrated & very unhappy. ADVICE TO THE OWNERS You should always have product in your shelves (especially after a donut holiday) no matter what time it is. This is UNEXCEPTABLE for a donut store to be out of products. Even though the female staff was nice, she never told me nor indicated that they were making more donuts. I didn't smell the fryer oil or any kind of donuts being cooked at all. I made a special trip from Hollywood to come here, which took me 30 minutes & only to find NOTHING! Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location. All the treats and sweets here are really good! Even the breakfast sandwiches are pretty good (not if you're in a rush and there's a line because they literally cook it on the spot with a real egg and everything). But aside from their fresh ingredients the biggest reason I come here and I'm sure s lot of other peoples as well (based off of the amount they have at the end of the day) are the cronuts! Which is that lovely combination of donut and croissant. It's so fluffy and crispy yet goey and sweet. It combines the best of both worlds! I came here a few times to satisfy my donut cravings. Plus, it's only 2 blocks away from USC. They use potato instead of flour to make their donuts, but it just tasted a little denser than your average donut. Eh, nothing special. My favorite kind of donut is donut holes. This review is mainly about the cronuts since the other donuts are average. I got a nutella cronut for 3.50. Tad too sweet but the texture was still amazing. I would tell the lady to go easy on the nutella next time. Girlfriend got the maple bacon one and it was not too bad either but again too much toppings masks the awesome crispy texture. They warm it in a toaster oven first so prep takes a while. Worth it for a cheaper cronut. Since it's on the sweeter side get a lighter topping and ask them to put less. read more

Today was the first time I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches; there was a TON of pepper in patches in the egg, which made it kind of difficult to eat at times, but the rest of the sandwich was really good. But what still shines bright for me is the donuts. They have every kind of donut you can imagin and they're cheap, consistent in quality, and tasty! Nothing to complain about there. They also have muffins and other pastries which I have not tried, but they all look amazing. They also have ice cream sandwiches, as well as just a bunch of other things on their menu that should be worth a try! Spudnuts Donuts is in the middle of Fast Food Row by USC on Figueroa. Donut shops are everywhere and other than location and a lot don't really stand out. They have cronuts, which was a hype before and you find them less frequently in other donut shops and have special donuts. They're open for 24 hours. If you're by USC and want a donut, do drop by if you're in the mood for a donut maybe at some late hour. read more

For a little mom&pop type store close to USC, this place is good. My bf had their lemonade which was more sour than sweet (I like) and they have a variety of donuts to choose from. I always come here for their cronuts because I've always wanted to try the NYC famous cronuts but never could. I stumbled in here one night, more than a little drunk, accompanied by a girl in zombie make-up. I'm still not quite sure who she was or how I ended up with her. I'm think dueling pianos figured into the night somewhere. I don't really remember what transpired, other than the employees were very nice to me. Or maybe that was a bush outside. When I woke up the next afternoon I found an atm receipt from Spudnuts with a phone number on it, fake blood was smeared all over the place, chunks of fake skin were in my bed and pieces of doughnuts littered the floor of my bedroom. In the living room I found a pack of cigarettes. Odd because no one in my apartment smoked, but probably a purchase from SpudNuts since they do sell cigarettes. I went out onto the balcony to have one and there I found some cold coffee and a miraculously whole, unmolested, non-damaged doughnut. In spite of sitting out for hours exposed to the elements (incl. morning dew, one would think) the doughnut, this glorious spudnut donut, was as fresh and tasty as when I was drunk the night before. When a doughnut left outside all night can taste good - that's goddamn winner, right there. But when a doughnut left outside all night not only tastes good, but tastes drunk good - well that's a Raider's of the Lost Ark doughnut. Beware!! Make sure you check your order! I did, but still feel like I got cheated!! Last Friday I was craving some maple/bacon cronuts that I tried from my bro-in-laws a few months back. So I called and asked him where he got them from, and he said spudnuts on topanga canyon. So I google a closer spudnuts and came across the Fig st location. I called and placed an order for 8 maple/bacon cronuts & 2 nutella cronuts for pickup after 3pm. So when I got there the lady shows me my order. Strange, the maple/bacon cronuts was a bar instead of round shape. So I asked her if those are cronuts, and she said yes!! So I paid and headed home. To keep this review short, my maple/bacon was no more than a maple bar doughnut with bacon on top. Not even close to tasting like a cronut. The two orders of nutella cronuts was indeed correct and was delicious. Im still just giving them 1 star for claiming I'm getting cronuts but instead it was just donuts. =( read more

I've been coming here for 4 years now and this year is the first time I've had their donuts. I must say I'm surprised that the donut is still yummy after 24 hours from purchasing it. I used to come here for the ham & cheese croissant and it was the best in town. I tried every donut place en route from home to work and this place was the best. Anyway, my experience was less than stellar. My friend was craving donuts so I took her here. We ordered two each since they were so cheap. I also ordered boba. Warning! Do not order boba here. It was so gross. I watched the girl working there scoop out the boba from this brown murky water and all the boba was struggling and clinging to each other. This might be a "Broke" List review only for the USC-ers (I'm not sure how far the Empire of Spudnuts stretched) but on my way to the Zemeckis Center in the morning I used to love, love, LOVE picking up a $1 croissant here in the mornings. Mmmm-mmm! But here's the real "Broke" tip - come here for the coffee. It's way better than the convenience store's, and at 80 cents a cup, much easier on the wallet than the Coffee Factory across the street! I'm so dissapointed. I loved the location on Venice & Sawtelle, but I found out they sold it to a Jolly doughnuts. So I came here and got excited to see all the flavors. Especially those cream filled ones because they were always sold out on Venice. We had chose about 4 donuts and couldn't wait to start biting into them. Boy was that excitement short lived. We couldn't bring ourselves to pick anymore and just stopped at the four. They weren't worth paying for, but since we bit off of them we went on. I guess I should have read and realized that the reviewers for this location were mostly drunk. (Alcohol damages taste buds). Out of those 4 donuts, only one was decent and that's the apple fritter. Everything else was dry and blahh. The cream cheese croissant barely had any cream cheese in it, the bavarian cream was nothing special. Asked for more icing and for the girl to heat up the cinnamon roll, the skimpy extra icing didn't help and it wasn't even warmed. I Definitely won't be back.
