The food was phenomenal. Every time I come, it's cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious. Some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten. The servers are genuinely the most polite and considerate of any restaurant I've ever eaten at. They are extraordinary. One gentleman, I think he's the owner, came by to ask how our meal was, if we'd tried each other's dishes, which one was our favorite, etc. He was funny, kind, and made the experience wonderful. The restaurant is quiet, even though almost every table has been full every time I've been. It gives a feeling of quiet privacy, which is perfect for a romantic date. The free tiramisu at the end is a nice touch as well. In all, Spumoni is a fantastic restaurant in every regard, and if I could give it a sixth star, I would in a heartbeat. read more

My favorite place for Italian food in the Valley. The restaurant is quaint, and it is just a joyous place to have a meal. I appreciate that the owner remembers me by name, even if it has been more than a year since I have been there. My go-to favorites are the Farfalle alla Vodka and the Linguini al Pesto. Can you say amazing service? Seriously, even from calling I could tell the person who answered the phone was so sweet and accommodating. I was craving a lemon pasta, so I called and he accommodated a version of the salmon limone to fit my palate with chicken instead. He also asked me how I like it, and what else he can do to make it how I'd want it I ordered and sent my husband to pick it up. 20 minutes later my husband comes home in tears after speaking to who he believes is the owner or manager. He had tears of joy of how special the service is - they don't make restaurants like that anymore where people seem to be happy spreading the joy of good food. We also couldn't believe that he was sent home with free tiramisu as well. The lemon pasta is absolutely delicious and I can't wait to dive into the tiramisu next. Thank you! read more

The food is super authentic. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken(not on the menu) and the chicken Boccaccio and they both came out hot from the kitchen and they were delicious. The bread and olive spread was so tasty to start with. I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was good. Everything is perfectly priced. The taste of the food was soooo good. It's a hole in the wall but the host may even be the owner and he knows his stuff. He told us a story about his childhood and gathering fresh berries to eat. It was a nice touch to the experience. . The place is cute & well lit inside and feels like home . There isn't much of a IG vibe which I like because I feel like that's how it is dining it Italy, it's about the food and the experience not being on your phone. I've actually been here but it's been years since that last visit. As I remembered from the first visit, the staff was quite friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure if it was the owner of the place, but he was so sweet. Friendly and sweet with that welcoming soul. We got there still pretty early before the dinner rush. People started to arrive halfway through our meal. I'm not quite sure if the menu is limited now due to covid, but what was on it still all looked pretty impressive. The bread and olive tapenade that was brought out to the table was great. Great starter while looking at the menu. The wine list was good. So . . . I pick this place out of a blind Apple map search. Wanted something nearby me and my new date. This lovely gal I hit on at Costco (long story). ANYHOO . . . I arrive at Spumoni 10 minutes ahead of time because I am nervous. At 43, I'm not exactly spry dating age but I'll quit digressing. I had called for a reservation, but the nice man who answered said "First come, first serve. There are plenty of tables." Anyway, what happened next was . . . . anybody ever seen the old Lady and the Tramp cartoon? Where the super kind and charming Italian restaurant guy serves the dogs a big heaping of spaghetti by candelight? That sweet Disney scene? That's basically what happened; except we didn't have to sit outside in the back. I asked for some bruschetta and caprese salad for the table, and a San Pellegrino. Immediate response and action. This guy became my partner, wingman and trusted big Uncle immediately. He knew I wanted to impress. The appetizers and waters were already there seconds before she arrived. "Espresso too??" I asked nervously. I wanted to be energetic for my date. "Eh--waaaaiit, for theeee espresso, mon ami. You are at the VERY TOP of the date. Wait for espresso for at the bottom. You ehh trust me!" With a big smile. (And yes, I'm phonetically imitating Super Mario, but bare with me) And he was right! I just relaxed and stopped playing activities director like I would have been forced to do at a lesser, franchised restaurant; or worse; one where they hire some disinterested help to just rattle off the menu. Or refer me to the QR code. Or force me to download the app. Or express bewilderment when I throw them a curveball or ask them for something special or off their script. Not here! Not at Spumoni! Warm, fluffy squares of Italian bread topped with olive oil and a DROP of balsamic, heriloom tomatoes over fresh mozzarella on a bed of greens, and a diced potpourri of tomatoe puree over toast where presented to me before I'd ever bothered to LOOK at a menu. Class! Our new friend scurried past with three bowls of glorious, bountiful pastas before pausing and showing them off to us first "This eeeeez the carbonara. You like eeet, eh?" My date asked me if I knew the man serving us. "No," I said, "But he does know me. And I him. He is a romantic. Prepare for a wonderful time, my dear." I got up about halflway through; "A Sangovese Cabernet for the lady, sir?" I whispered. And it was produced to her within about 6 seconds. Magically. NOTHING magical ever happens on Ventura Blvd these days that doesn't involved Cannabis Oil. But here I was . . . in old Rome on the streets of Trastevere. Transported by the attitude and charm and attention of one restaurant who does it all so, so right. Yelp's forcing me to truncate my review, so I'll end it before the tiramisus and the smiles . . . of which there were many. A wall between my lady friend and I; made of espresso dipped lady fingers, marsaropone cheese, and chocolate quickly vanished, and was replaced by the kiss that Spumoni helped me to earn. read more

Wanna take a little trip to Italy? Head to this place! Small cozy restaurant full of love coming from owner and staff. It's really rare to find places like this anymore. The owner is very active going table to table checking everything. Plenty of parking in the rear. They start you off with a warm bread basket and chopped black olives in olive oil. It's just magical. I had to get another basket of bread and olives. It was just that good. I had the Linguini Pescatore, one of the best seafood pasta dishes I've had in years! Felt so good to eat really good pasta. Food is very good they have some hard to find gnocchi options which is a plus for us but what really sets them apart here is their hospitality, the owner makes it a point to stop by each table at least once to see how everything is going. I ordered cannelloni florentine and my better half had the eggplant parmigiana. My pasta dish had spinach and ricotta filling inside cannelloni pasta tubes, topped with a homemade tomato basil sauce and melted cheese. Both dishes were very hot, like it should be. There was only two waiters on the floor, so service was slower than what I had remembered which is understandable. We were waiting an hour and a half for a party of five in addition to having multiple lags with them us getting bread/drinks. We ordered the carbonara which was okay. My sister and I returned 3 years later and the quality of the food is still just as good. We shared a linguine entrée and they were gracious enough to split it into two dishes for us to share. We ordered tiramisu to finish the meal which is a must. The housemade tiramisu has a delicate mascarpone taste drizzled in chocolate liquor. It is fantastic!
