Winner was the key lime pie (did plain with no berry drizzle). 5th one we've had down here- the filling was a great consistency and tartness with a crunchy graham crust. If I could give this place 100 stars I would! Not only is this my absolute favorite restaurant in the keys, but it's one of my top in the whole state of Florida! We have never had anything short of an incredible experience at the Square Grouper. Everything from the coastal chic ambience to the beachy outdoor area, to the bathroom sinks and incredible details make each experience special. The food is to die for. Truly. The cocktail menu is also extensive! Some of our favorites and must-haves include the fish dip, grouper francaise, and scallops. You will never order wrong on their menu. The food was ok, one of my best friends loves this place and highly recommended it but I think it received too much fame and now they just throw subpar dishes together. The food presentation is nice, but lacking flavor and finesse. Ambiance is wonderful. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the upstairs restaurant was fabulous!!! It has a different name, I think it starts with sunset something but wow!! Best oysters ever, ambiance is sexy but they are mainly appetizers on that floor, but honestly the drinks and appetizers are so worth while we should have just stayed there!! Fresh lobster claws and great oysters for sure!! I truly miss that piece of it and would go again just to sit upstairs, such a beautiful and sexy area, with great views of the sunset. What a great spot!! We were welcomed by the friendliest hostess and elected to sit out on the patio as there was no wait outside an over an hour wait inside (due to a tropical storm), but we did not get wet at all despite the crazy wind thanks to their screens they put down to protect guests from the elements. Still had a view of the water! When it time came to order, they had a great selection of fun drinks and delicious appetizers. The grouper bites were among the apps we ordered and they were to die for! Definitely order some if they do not sell out fast! Went for dinner and the food was amazing. There will be a wait but it is worth it. We showed up at 4:30, got a drink from the upstairs bar and were the first in line for their 5pm open, very worth it. Small interior dining room so you will probably be sitting outside with no A/C. Love, love, love, the square grouper. Great restaurant located at a Marina. Parking is cool because it's underneath the racks, holding the boats above. The parking example. The restaurant itself is awesome because you check in in why you wait for your table you can go upstairs to the sunset lounge. You can order a drink up there and enjoy it while you wait. The restaurant has great seating and the tables are really nicely spaced so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of everyone else. The menu is pretty simple and straightforward, but everything is awesome, especially the grouper Frances and the mashed sweet potato. The place is typically very busy and once you eat there, you'll know why. read more

PERFECTION. Tucked into a quaint marina, they offer indoor or outdoor seating overlooking the water. The service, fast and super friendly. Josie was kind and personable. I felt welcomed and catered to. Finally, the food. Come on guys, this was a homerun on all accounts. We started with conch chowder, flash fried conch, and tuna avocado egg rolls. I really enjoyed the conch chowder. A touch of spice and a great warm temperature, this tomato based soup was divine. The conch was unique as it was a LARGE piece, and they served it with ponzu and wasabi; unexpected flavors that complemented the dish very well. As mains, we enjoyed the square grouper sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich with some buffalo sauce on the side. Pelicans were swimming and around the marina in a bunch of places...really enjoyed the view! We had best Mai Tais that we have had in a long time and they came in a cute tall Tiki Glass. I had the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich which came with shoestring French fries and coleslaw that was delicious! My husband had the lunch special - California chicken club sandwich with bacon and guacamole...so delicious! Both our meals were very generous. Let's start with the parking. The signs that say no trucks or SUV's are REAL. They will ask you to Move if your vehicle gets in the way of the marina moving a boat off the racks. We were a table of 7 and all wanted the lobster max and cheese - so we split an entree as our app. It was to die for. Agreed it would have been rich for a meal, but the flavor and creaminess was perfect! Dinner for two of our party was the grouper piccata -which was so light - and the capers were so flavorful with the meal. Husband ordered the short rib special and couldn't say enough about the tenderness. Another in our party ordered the Hogfish special and loved it.
