    Grilled chicken sandwich, fries, coleslaw
    Jay T.

Really nice restaurant with good food. I enjoyed the chicken Philly and side salad, especially after adding some mayo and peppers to the Philly. The Mrs loved her grilled chicken sandwich and shoestring fries. The coleslaw was a little different but also good. It's a little on the pricy side, but everything is in the Keys so just accept it. If you're a tea drinker note that there's no regular tea on the menu, just a passion fruit version. Our server was great and super friendly. The inside is mildly upscale for the area, but not fancy; I'm calling it upscale beachy. They have inside and patio seating, with a view that overlooks the marina/boat ramp.

We were here in April and very much enjoyed the third floor. Next time we will try the first despite all the warning signs access after 6 was not an issue when we were there. Service was excellent! Everyone worked hard to make sure you had everything you needed. Old Fashions were very good. Stone crab claws are enormous and nicely done. Conche chowder was very tasty and pretzel was amazing.

Square Grouper in Islamorada is our family's favorite restaurant. We make the drive from Miami once a month for it. The fish is always fresh and delicious. If you're visiting me in Miami, I'm taking you here plus the staff is always amazing!

It's a cool place to eat at since you're in the marina. Other than that, it's a tourist trap in my opinion. They are super busy so service was not great. Of the three things we ate, the only one I could recommend is the appetizer which was the flash fried conch, get extra wasabi and order it at the same time. We waited 10 mins for the server to bring us a side of it. I ordered the lobster tacos and 90% of it was filler with scraps of lobster. Don't waste your money. I did love the sweet potato fries. Been there, done that, wouldn't go back.

Delicious food, nice ambience and good service. Had the special lunch panko coated tripletail with rice and a salad with their honey mustard dressing which was light and very good. Tripletail is a white mild fish. Glad I went with that! I will be back.

We were told to try Square Grouper from a truly knowledgeable source, who also helped us understand what a square grouper is. Who knew? At any rate, we headed to the Sunset Lounge that opens @ 4:20.We had seats at the bar and were frankly blown away by James, the bartender, the service, the food, it was all amazing. We started with the smoked fish dip - so good - the only thing is I wish the crackers were a bit more substantial. The dip was perfect with dry vodka martinis. I had a wedge salad with lardons and fresh shrimp. Yummy! Wayne had tuna tartare - and there wasn't any of it left. We toasted it all down with a lovely rose' and ended a perfect evening with picking up some awesome merch. Sorry we didn't know about it sooner, but a great place for great food, good service and more.

One of the best spots for brunch, lunch, or dinner--Square truly has it all. The ambiance is excellent, the food never disappoints, and the service is consistently great whether you're seated at a table or at the bar. I do have my favorite people there, though! Emily is hands down the best bartender for brunch, and Chris is my go-to bartender for dinner--both in the main dining room. They always make the experience even better. The place is usually packed, which says a lot about its consistency in both food and service. Honestly, I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about this place. It's just that good.

My favorite restaurant. Service is impeccable, bar is second to none food is outstanding and consistent every time. This is a destination in the Keys. Landed in Miami, drove 90 miles in traffic to Islamorada and went straight to the Square Grouper. Only way to start a trip. Food is amazing, drinks are expertly prepared and served. Dessert is splendid. The service is friendly and casual. Can't go wrong at this well run establishment. Place is always buzzing with energy and the Sunset Lounge upstairs is a great companion.

Absolutely insane. Food is out of this world, we had Grouper in a variety of ways, Tilefish, Seafood Stew, Yellowtail egg rolls and coconut shrimp. The location is great with an awesome view from the second deck.

Superb restaurant in Islamorada! My family ate here for lunch this past weekend and really enjoyed it. We had a short wait- 10 minutes or so- and when we were seated our table had a great view of the water! Our waiter was able to accommodate us with 2 high chairs for our kids and there was a great kids menu available as well. I ordered the blackened mahi fish tacos with a side of caesar salad- everything was DELICIOUS! My husband had the coconut shrimp and our toddler had the kids grilled shrimp which was a very generous portion. Absolutely recommend to those in the area!

    Do they take reservations?

Nope. First come first serve. Line out the door at least 30 minutes before they open for dinner.

Can we bring fresh caught fish and they will prepare it?

I don't think so ,, but if you go get the square grouper sandwich

Everything had either too much mayonnaise or too much sauce or was overcooked. It was like they're too worried about the quality of the ingredients or the food to let it stand on its own. This could also be as a result of the cooking of the region. It would've been great to have something light and fresh. I did order a Caesar salad salad, and the dressing tasted like somebody edited ranch dressing. There was no anchovy flavor. The servers are nice, the prices aren't bad, and there is plenty of parking if you don't go on the weekend. The view is nice as well. Other than that, I really don't know if I would eat here again.

My wife and I stopped in for a quick dinner before a sunset cruise, and unfortunately it didn't live up to the experiences we've always had here. The conch fritters, which are usually a must-order for us, were mostly filler and lacked the flavor we've come to expect. The mahi tacos were equally disappointing, each taco had only a tiny piece of fish, the tortillas were stale and crumbly, and they were overloaded with salsa, causing them to fall apart. Our server was prompt and attentive, but the overall atmosphere felt rushed. We understand it's the middle of summer and the heat can make for long days, but one of the things we've always appreciated here was the warm, friendly hospitality. This time, that welcoming energy just wasn't there. It's disappointing to say, but this restaurant simply isn't what it used to be. I hope this was just an off day, because we'd love to see it return to the quality and experience that kept us coming back for so many years.

Went in for their happy hour and ordered the smoked wings. It was a great deal for 6 good size wings for only $5. You can't get a wing for under a dollar anymore these days so I decided to try them out since they're a BBQ spot and probably smoked the wings pretty good. I was surprised to find out that they make their own blue cheese and ranch sauces. They were super good and haven't had great ranch and blue cheese sauce with a bunch of decent sized blue cheese chunks in a while. I also tried their BBQ sauce and it wasn't bad, not too sweet and pretty smokey. Great deals on a pint ($5) and pitcher ($16) of Florida Keys Brewing Co beers. I think it may even beat the actual brewery's prices. I noticed their AC was blowing pretty good and strong. It was a cooler day when I went so I got a little chilly but I'm sure that is a huge bonus when it's the hot summer time there. The bartender was busy with all the football games playing on the big TVs but she was attentive and seemed to have given me the best service she could. I was very pleased with this establishment and would like to come back again.
