Had a chance to pick up some food from square pie guys and this was a great experience! I had tried pizza from here from the SF location, and so glad they opened here in Campbell! We tried: * pepperoni pizza - the star of the show and so delicious. This was perfectly crispy and cheesy with crunchy pieces of pepperoni * fries - huge portion and crispy * Szechuan wings - these were the crispiest wings I've had and they were delicious. Well flavored and succulent as well * garlic bread - this was a cheesy bread with garlic oil on top and super juicy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back! Really delicious and cheesy pizza. We really overestimated how much pizza we would need based on the size of them. Each pizza will comfortably feed 2 people. Since we ordered more than necessary we were left with cold pizza for the next couple of days and I was not complaining. It reheats fine and tastes just as delicious. I am a big fan of the dough and the crispy fried edges that it had. I live nearby and have gotten coupons in the mail but forgot them when I was ordering online. Luckily their online ordering offered a promo that made one of our pizzas free. We ordered to go and picking up was easy, staff was very friendly and the order was ready right on time. Interior is large and very clean. I am a big fan of dipping my pizza into ranch and I was not a big fan of theirs. It had a lemony taste to it, definitely more intended for a salad. read more

We really enjoyed our first (takeout) experience with Square Pie Guys. Ordering on the app was easy, but note that NO modifications, substitutions, or requests are possible - except making a pizza dairy free or gluten free. We probably would have ordered a salad, but there wasn't one without cheese. We ordered the How Mush-Room (as is) and the Plant Supreme (dairy free). It took about 25 minutes from time of ordering to receive our meal (exactly the time quoted in the app), which was nicely packaged and bagged for us. The interior of the restaurant was clean with a fun vibe - they definitely made some major updates from the previous restaurant, Desi. We took our pizzas home and they were still hot and meaty, so we dug right in. The pizzas were both delicious and extremely filling. I only could eat one slice and husband had two. Loved the fresh toppings and the crunchy, cheesy crust. I did end up dipping into some marinara I had at home, which I would recommend for the white sauce pizza. I was really impressed with Square Pie Guys from the beginning while my wife remained somewhat skeptical - until maybe 3-4 orders ago. We had initially only had their Detroit-style pizza previously at Local Kitchens, where for me it quickly became a fave. Then our experience with this place came full circle when we started coming to this then new Campbell pad building location. I love the How Mush-Room (V) pie - the white sauce and cheese mix with the gooey chewy mushroom pieces and crunchy buttery crust, making for a decadent feast. So good! I've also had the Regular Square and other various selections including with sausage and/or pepperoni. I love their pizza - and their space too, which is white, light, bright and clean feeling with a convenient (inside) pickup window and an easy patio in front. My worry is from the last few times I've picked up because there has been a lockbox on the door. I associate lockboxes with store closings and re-leasing. Really hoping that isn't the case here. I kept seeing this place on Instagram but didn't realize they had a Campbell location until I happened to drive by this place and see the storefront. There's a certain frozen Detroit style pizza that I love and I figured something fresh would be 10x better. Square Pie Guys more than delivered on that. I got the spicy pepperoni. It comes with good quality pepperoni (as you can see by the way it cups), fresh jalapeño (perfectly cooked to retain some snap), and spicy ranch. If you're a fan of chili flakes on your pizza, you'll probably find that this one is the perfect spice level and doesn't need anything else, although chili flakes and Parmesan are available at each table. The toppings were excellent but I'd come back to try another pie because the basics were excellent too. The crust is soft and airy and the edges are shatteringly crispy, exactly what you want out of a good Detroit style. There was plenty of cheese, which gave a pleasant stretch due to how fresh the pizza was. What really elevated this particular pizza was the vodka sauce that they used: the sweetness and creaminess perfectly complemented the salty and spicy toppings. I wouldn't say that it cuts through those elements, but rather, they synergize to create a truly indulgent meal. They say that one pizza serves 2 people and I think that's perfectly accurate. I was stuffed after having half of this pizza. As a bonus, the staff were lovely. My wife and I decided to go to Square Pie Guys (Formally Desi's and Steak and Shake) 501 E Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008 For those who follow my reviews, I am not a fan of self serve business model restaurants, which what Square Pie Guys is. The restaurant is very clean, has nice big windows, and a good table and chair lay out. You pick where you want to sit, use your phone (QR code on table), order, pay (no cash accepted), tip is automatically put into the bill (you can delete it under custom-15/20/22%). The menu also states a 5% Employee Healthcare Fee is added (I didn't see it in my orders unless it's hidden or added later). When ready, an employee delivers the food. Beverages are self serve from the soda fountain (ice machine didn't work). The water station had complimentary soda water, which I thought was very nice. They do have beer that an employee serves. When done, you buss your own table, although other guests didn't do this. I only saw two employees during my visit who were very busy preparing orders, cleaning, and doing other things. My limited interaction with them revealed polite, professional individuals. Now to the food-OUTSTANDING! The sodas are from Alameda Soda Company, using real cane sugar and excellent taste (root beer was my favorite). The menu (see picture) is really good with 12 Pizza + Create your own, wings, cheesy bread, fries, burgers, salads, and desserts. We had the Ellen Supreme (red sauce instead of vodka sauce) peppers on side. cheese bread, brussel sprouts (no szechuan dry rub). The pizza comes in one size, is a square good for one or two, and is made Detroit Style. It was unlike other pizzas I tried-Excellent! The toppings, sauce, everything was first rate. The cheese bread with red sauce I had was wonderful, but the highlight was the crispy brussel sprouts-soft and tender inside, crispy on the outside and tasty-yum! My delicate stomach had no problems with anything I ate. If you bring a group of 4-6 people, plan on spending $75 for three pizzas, not including drinks and other items. The restaurant is family oriented. Some other reviewers talked about coupons, which would be to your advantage. I am giving this restaurant 4 stars only because of how nice the employees were and how great the food was. My wife wants to come back to try the hamburger. IF they provide table service, accept cash, and get away from auto adding in a tip/employee healthcare fee, I'll give Square Pie Guys 5 Stars. read more

Stopped by Square Pie Guys in Campbell after some fun at the park with the kids. Located across the street from Campbell Park with a good sized parking lot. SPG in Campbell has a great seating area with a soda fountain, still AND sparkling water options next to premade to-go pizza boxes. We ordered online at the park and then sat down to enjoy our meal. For 4 adults and 2 toddlers (plus one good eating infant), we ordered the Big Von (honey honey was nice but maybe could use a bit more), Ellen Supreme (enjoyed the pickled peppers) and the Hawaiian (needed to steal the jalapeños from the kiddos) with a salad. Pizza was great, Detroit-style with creative topping options (I LOVE ALL PIZZA though). Salad was ok too, which helped with the wife's salad cravings. Lastly, for the kids, they have a nice clean bathroom changing station in the Women's (wife and other mama noted) but NOT in the men's (beware if you got to change the little ones). You can order on your phone through the QR code on your table. We got the Create Your Own pizza with Jalapeños, mushrooms, and herb chicken as toppings. They were generous with the mushrooms and chicken but stingy with the jalapenos. But that cheese-lined crust is what you're really here for -- so satisfyingly CRISPY and cheesy on the exterior that you'll be saving that corner bite for last. There's only four pieces but they're more filling than they look since the crust is so thick. We thought we weren't gonna be full but after two slices each we were nicely satiated. There was one gentleman working when we came. We came right before the rush. I felt bad because we see him taking orders, having to fix the soda machine (their diet cola was weird and the root beer had a off color), bringing the orders out... One thing that I was not ok with was that my request to have the chicken on the side instead of on the pizza was denied. Be aware there's a separate window for pickup. *Service was friendly *Their app is simple and works. It will also alert you to any sales or special deals. *Buffallo wings were not bad but still not as good as Jake's. They could've been crispier and maybe a bit more heat to the sauce. The Meh: *Parking can be a pain on weekends, especially on Sundays when the extremely popular Campbell Farmer's Market is going on. *Prices are a touch on the high side for a pie ($20-25/ea) that they claim can serve two people. Ugh, literally already want to eat this tonight. Instead I decided to write a review. Came here on a rainy Wednesday night and it was very quiet inside. Which i prefer. They have so much seating and it is so clean! I appreciate the live plants spread throughout and the accents of their signature color. I tried the following: -house salad, OMG literally so good w/the perfect tang from the vinaigrette. -regular pizza, this was perfection, perfect amount of cheese, sauce, basil on a soft and crispy crust. I also hate crust but ate this one. -buffalo sauce and ranch, can't go wrong -alameda coke w/a little bit of lemonade (trust the process) My partner really liked his wings and pizza (pictured) service was friendly and quick considering they make everything fresh The self serve water station is awesome, wish more places had that. Y'all... this pizza is The BOMB! If you've never tried Detroit style pizza (I'm a newbie) think about a focaccia crust with yummy burnt ends. Soft, crunchy, and exploding with flavor - I dare you to not like it! (In full disclosure, I'm not crazy about Chicago style deep dish. I've spent plenty of time in Chicago, so it's not from a lack of having the real deal. I'm a Neapolatin thin crust guy, and Chicago to me is "meh." Detroit on the other hand...) To be fair, I've not been to their place in Campbell, so this review is delivery-only. Still, the pies come to the door fresh, hot, and spot-on. So far, I've only tried their red sauce and their white sauce, but I'm keen to try more -- the white sauce blew me away. In addition to pies, they do fries, wings, etc. -- the wings are REALLY BIG, which I LOVE. They are a bit on the super crispy side, with a bit more breading than I prefer, but they are big and juicy, so I give them a 4.5 out of 5. (And I'm a pretty tough wing critic...) To be fair, SPG's are the second Detroit place we've tried in the South Bay... I have to give a shout-out to one of their competitors, "Slice of Homage" with locations in Sunnyvale and San Pedro Square. Homage's pies are epic, but they appear to be struggling with scaling. Square Pie Guys have a terrific website to order for delivery, with great customer service. Some reviewers will say the pizzas are pricey, and it's a fair comment. However, if you compare what you get from a Neapolitan (like Pizza Antica or Eataly) for $20+, versus a thin crust classic (like Round Table or Pizza My Heart) for $30, I think you'll find that a $25 pie from these Guys goes a VERY long way... we're typically full after 2 pieces! 5/5 This is our new favorite deep dish pizza place! Appetizer: Szechuan Wings - it's THE BEST wings I've ever had. The wings may look simple and normal on photos, but the taste is complex & well-balanced. It is sweet and also savory. The sauce that it comes with is also well prepared and compliments the wing flavors well. Pizza: Mush-O-Roni & The Spicy Pepperoni The first thing that came to mind when I tried the pepperoni from the slice was that it was so crispy like a Filipino Chicharon (crispy fried pork skin snack). It had the perfect consistency and crunch! Both pizza flavors were really good. I found that in some deep dish places, the pepperoni is too salty - but not this one! Each ingredient has its role in winning hearts! SERVICE: The staff (esp the young gentleman at the register) were so friendly. We could tell that they love what they do. I used their app to place a to-go order of the lunchtime special of half one of their standard pizzas (you can't do a custom version for the special price). I choose the How Mush-room. It was very tasty, though I wish I'd read the description more closely because this one has white sauce instead of red sauce and I would have preferred red sauce for it. What impressed me was that the mushrooms actually had flavor! I don't know what they do to them, but they're not just cooked mushroom slices like on a typical pizza. I also really liked the shredded grana cheese on top after it's out of the oven; I don't usually notice something like that, but it really impacted the taste of the bites that had the cheese on them. My order was ready slightly ahead of the projected time, which was nice as I'd gotten there early. The guy who gave me my pizza in the window against the far wall was very friendly, as were the guys back there who I believe prepare the pies. The restaurant itself is tidy and clean but a little sterile-looking, with those awful metal chairs that are never comfortable to use if you actually have hips! The chairs are a very nice shade of blue, however, which seems to be their signature color. They always have some good deals going on so it's best to wait for those times. Prices are a little high, but the quality is pretty good and you get full fast so there's a good chance you can turn an order into two or three meals. I love their szechuan wings as well! I will start by saying Detroit style is probably my favorite type of pizza and this is the best I've ever had. We decided to go on a random weekend and now Have been twice, Kid loved it so much he requested to go for his birthday. Kiddo is always a cheese pizza and both times I got sausage and pepperoni, the wife got spicy pepperoni and 2 different mushroom pizzas. Not the cheapest pizza but it's worth the price in my opinion. I will willingly drive from Fremont to grab some again I'm sure of it. Light Crispy crust and the little burnt edges are to die for. My favorite pizza in the Bay Area? Definitely! My kids favorite pizza? Definitely! Restaurant is nice and tidy. Staff is incredibly helpful and will offer up their favorites. Downtown campbell has so many pizza places as already is. And its such a shame for people who just drive pass this place because its a truly a gem within a beautiful downtown. I myself love pizza in any shape or form. My wife, on the other hand, is very picky and its rare for her to crave a slice Until she wanted to give this place a try and it has been a only place that I can pick up a pie without feeling like she is forcing down a meal she doesn't like because she loves their pie! The lemon pepper wings were really good, had a lot of crunch to it and was really flavorful. The fries were crispy and great and the pizza was okay! I don't like how they mince the mushrooms super fine as they got burnt on the edges and wasn't great, the pepperoni and cheese were fantastic though. I'm very happy that Square Pie Guys have made their way down to my neck of the woods, and I do hope they're here to stay. I've ordered delivery from SPG Campbell a few times now, and they've consistently provided great food and service. Just as good as my experiences in their SF Mission location. Having passed by the physical restaurant a few times now, they're in a great location, taking over the space previously occupied by Desi. Ample and convenient parking, with a simple interior layout. I love Detroit-style pizzas -- rectangular, thick caramelized crust, and plenty of sauce & toppings. I'm glad it's gaining popularity over the years, too. I prefer SPG over Slice of Homage because it's less salty, the crust is more stable, and the ratios are more even. My favorite pies are the Ellen and the Margherita. Super happy that the app's been offering great BOGO or 50% deals lately. I will say that it does have issues adding rewards right now, but Chat Support has been very helpful. I ordered online and had to wait an extra hour for my order. Aside from that we tried a few items from the menu. PLO pizza: 8.5/10 very flavorful and saucy I think there were many toppings making it the most worth for the price. This was the best pizza of the 3 Lemon pepper pizza: 3/10 the pizza was so dry there was barely any white sauce it felt like I was eating cheese bread with dry chicken Hawaiian pizza: 6/10 also pretty dry but the toppings were better. Szechuan chicken wings: 7/10 not very spicy and the ranch was sour not sure if that's normal. The flavor was ok it was like a powdery dry rub. This plaza is located near the downtown Campbell area but there is actually a designated parking lot here. This plaza gets filled up quickly especially on weekends. Placing an order online was easy and the estimated time was quite accurate so definitely don't come early expecting your order to be done. Pizza is a work of art that takes time and love- it is not to be rushed. How-mushroom pizza- This was my favorite of the two we ordered. The creamy white sauce was delicious, and the mushrooms were filled with umami and aromatics from the parsley. The grana cheese was mild yet enough to satisfy the savory cravings I had. The dough was soft yet substantial throughout the whole meal. I also like how the dough isn't overly greasy like Slice of Homage's detroit style pizza. The cheddar edge really makes the crust tasty and enjoyable. Pepperoni- This was on the saltier and sour side as the red sauce was quite acidic and punchy. I prefer a milder tone of red sauce that's probably why I prefer the mushroom pizza. The pepperoni was good just a bit overpowered by the red sauce flavors. Personally I would come back for the how-mushroom pizza alone. The pizza doesn't feel too heavy.. the base is solid with a high quality pizza dough, especially when paired with some hot honey or red pepper flakes. First visit to a Square Pie Guys and we were not disappointed! Atmosphere was open, bright and inviting. Restaurant was clean. Service was superb - very friendly and patient. Food was delicious. We first heard of Square Pie Guys when it was offered through Local Kitchens in our neighborhood, but were always hesitant to try them if we couldn't eat it hot and fresh right out of the oven. So I was happy when this new location in Campbell opened earlier this month! We ordered two pizzas: Pepperoni, and Ellen Supreme (note that "Vodka sauce" is like a slightly spicy version of the red sauce). All their pizzas are deep dish style, so they go farther than you think! We were able to easily share 2 pizzas among 3 of us. Also added Szechuan Wings (so yummy!) and some sodas (also great flavors, not your traditional Coke and Pepsi!). Everything was yummy. Prices were a bit on the higher side but at least things were tasty and the deep dish pizzas were bigger than they looked! Heard you can get savings by downloading the app, which I didn't do, so will have to try that next time. We look forward to visiting again! read more

Back again, got 2 pies for take out, the pepperoni and a custom one with red sauce, sausage and mushrooms - delicious! The day sucked but the moon seems to be hitting our eyes like a big pizza pie - that's amore! The dough is thick but light, the sauce is tangy and tasty, and the toppings are just right!
