We don't usually dine in Fall River, but it was 5pm on a Wednesday, we were hungry, and I was not looking forward to sitting in traffic on the Braga Bridge so we looked for something near by. I was intrigued by the reviews and wanted to try a Juicy Lucy, since I had never had a burger like this and probably won't be visiting Minnesota anytime soon to have one. It was early and the place was pretty empty but the waitstaff was very attentive, we ordered some beers, 2 juicy lucys, and house made chips. The restaurant itself is located in a basement and it feels like you were hanging out in your best friends basement in a good way. Oh if your meeting up with friends here make sure everyone is there before you sit down there was no cell service once you got downstairs. Our waitress was pleasant, friendly and very helpful. Service was very good just what you are looking for in a place like this, however from here it was all down hill. The first round consisted of 3 clam chowders, sweet potatoes fries, regular fries, onion rings and chips (I was in a group of 7. The chowder was very good 1 chowder was forgotten and brought out later after the waitress was reminded, the onion rings were some of the best I have ever had and the regular fries were great. The sweet potato fried weren't so great they weren't crispy and the middle was still hard and the BBQ sauce had way too much Jameson whiskey in it, their chips were more like round fries they were too thick and for the most part not crispy enough. When it came to our meals the kitchen must have been distracted because they didn't even make mine. That's right didn't make it. So I got to sit there for 20 minutes while everyone else ate. Then When it came out it still wasn't right. And all this over one of their standard burgers. The waitress was very apologetic but that only goes so far. This place is adorable. Okay, so you go in and it's like... in a basement. Which is cool. However, be cautious because the stairs that lead into the place get more treacherous as the night goes on and you get a few beers in you... it's suspicious. The waitress/bartender/onlypersonworking was super friendly. She came over a few times to ask us if we had decided what we wanted to eat and was very understanding when we said that we needed more time. The girlfriend ended up getting two hot dogs with BBQ sauce on them. She seemed to like them. I stuck to beer and gin and tonics. I can't really say much else about this bar because we came here solely to watch Bruins and drink alcohol. However, I'd definitely like to come here again. We are new to the area so we thought we could check out some of the local grub. I looked up this place, it had decent reviews so me and my partner decided to go. Sadly we didn't have as swell of a time as other patrons seemed to have. Upon arriving we were greeted with side eye glances and the atmosphere was pretty uninviting. The waitress was fairly attentive, but she really looked like she didn't want to serve us. I ordered the juicy Lucy and my s.o ordered the double patty burger. We also ordered some mozz sticks as an app. They were alright for cheese sticks that. Our food came out in a decent time but that's when things snowballed. My juicy Lucy had no cheese in the middle and was just a mess. Bun was too small for their burger so it just fell apart to the point of becoming almost inedible. The meat itself was meh at most and I just felt unhappy the entire time I had my meal. Honestly maybe it was a bad night for the place, but first impressions are everything so I won't be returning there. read more

Great place!! Doesn't look like much from the street, but once inside.....terrific. Beer selection was very good with several taps offering some different brews. Had a coffee stout that was excellent. The prices were reasonable as well, so you're not breaking the bank for a few pops. The wings were outstanding!! We tried 4 different types, all were cooked to perfection and delicious. And what a deal as far as price goes!!! Amazing. Our bartender/waitress, Daisy, was the best thing about the place. She has to be on the top of my list this year. Genuinely nice, knew her stuff and was always there when you needed something. The place itself was surprisingly good. Great atmosphere, large bar with plenty of seating and some cool stuff on the walls to give it that sports bar feel. No Keno...ugh. The only minor knock, and it's very minor, is the TV set up. They are kinda small and randomly placed, so you had to make an effort to find a good seat, if you were trying to watch something. Not a huge deal.... Highly recommend this place. I came in with my family for some wings just coming into this city, and I heard a lot of good things about this place from friends. I come in and was confused with the set up, do we wait to be seated? Do we get our own seats? I wasn't sure. I politely went up to the only waitress on the floor and simply asked "hi, do we choose where to sit?" She stared at me with disgust and says "yup". I seat myself and she carries on a conversation with the bartender while drinking her drink. She comes to the table and asks "what do you want to drink?" "A Pepsi and two waters please" she replies.."okay... well you need to order another beverage if you want the .75¢ deal with wings" so of course I replied saying okay no problem, then I'll order two Pepsi's and one water for my nephew, now there's an issue with that too lol. She says "well someone from your party alReady ordered a Pepsi so you don't need to get two you can get a water" okay well.. then just give me two sodas and water please. St. James is a no frills, sports bar-esque, Irish pub in downtown Fall Riva. Food is cheap (and not bad), beer is cold, and service was pretty darn friendly. My chicken sandwich was better then I thought it would be, and there fries were very tasty. I also liked that I only spend around 13$ for a Yuengling, sandwich and fries and tip. It's definitely a locals bar and anything but pretentious. My favorite part of my visit was when the bartender was asked by this dude if he could sample one of the micro brews and the lady said "We don't really do that here. His reply "You are a beer bar, aren't you?" (I believe he was asking if they were a craft beer bar) and her reply was "Well we are a bar that serves beer". So yeah, don't expect a bar that gives out tastings and/or is going to provide you with a wealth of knowledge on beer and spirits. Grab a pint, get some wings, and chill out.
