Food is amazing. Every. Single. Time. The ribeye is delicious; a big, thick, bone-in cut served with sliced tomatoes, and a choice of side. All their appetizers are great. Love this place! This is my favorite place in Deep Ellum to get a beer/some delicious appetizers. I am very surprised to see so many complaints about the service - we have sat at the bar, in the dining area, on the patio and have always had outstanding service. All the food I've had has been delicious and I'm usually pretty picky about American/'bar food'. After living in Deep Ellum for over 2.5 years, we finally checked out St. Pete's. I'm not a huge seafood fan so I just assumed it was a seafood restaurant by the name. I wanted to try somewhere new in DE and this is one of the only places left I haven't visited - I checked out the menu and was surprised to see all the non-seafood options! Pizza, pasta, chicken, burgers, etc. We checked it out on a Friday night, sat on the patio and took our dog. Service was great and the food was good. Terrible service, if you come in from a different state they will not serve you! A group of us were in town for a football game and went to this bar to have a drink, she asked for ID's we all pulled them out, she went to the back, came back and said we can't tell if these are real or fake. (All 30-35 years old) I said "oh ok well there is a cop outside let's ask him" she said "no just leave, there are other bars you can go to" just so you know this was the first bar we stopped into and were not drunk or obnoxious!! This is the best place to hang out on the patio, smoke, drink, and eat! The soups of the day are awesome! My favorite is the beer/potato soup. Order it when available or you will regret it for the rest of your life, or just your next visit. My kid is a fan of the meatballs. The bartender was nice and the beer was cold. This place was recommended to us by friends and I seriously called them after we left and asked them if we just got punked. Lmao!!!! The food was horrible. I took a bite of my so called chicken fried sandwich and one bite was all I needed. Deep Elm offers a great variety of restaurants with great food but this is not one of them. I have been eating and drinking at St. Pete's since the Dawn of Man and have never once had a bad experience. The best part is when Pete is behind the bar and not too busy to talk to. This place is truly as good as it gets. It has everything a geek, law loving Texan could want. Free, fast wifi, excellent service, wonderful music that you get to choose, great food and a relaxed atmosphere. This will be one of my regular spots now that I live in Deep Ellum. We were waited on by Pete and he is truly a laid back guy who loves Dallas and has stayed through the good times and bad. I hope there are only good times ahead for Pete and the Dancing Marlin. Still a fan. Caught a game here a while back and had the fried ahi tuna sandwich simply because I was intrigued. I thought, no way can this good! It was pretty good. Though, I actually found the piece of tuna to be too big actually and it was cut a bit poorly which made it hard to eat, but that happens - the flavor was really very good. I would have liked it better if it was quite a bit thinner. Also, tried the chili and really really enjoyed it. Couldn't handle a bowl of it - a cup was more than enough. I went in last Saturday. I've been a fan of their Chin Chin's chicken sandwich and the chili for well over a decade. Normally I'm there for lunch. However, to satisfy a craving, I made the mistake of going there on a Saturday night, big mistake. I walked in and seated myself as usual. I actually passed a couple of servers as i found my table. One brunette with a zebra striped lanyard was one that stood out. I took my seat and proceeded to wait about 15 minutes before getting up and walking to the bar, not one server addressed me. The humor in the situation is they were all huddled together at the end of the bar along with the short haired blond bartender yapping about something that was obviously more important than serving tables. There were about 4 total servers active and about 4 total tables occupied inside and out of the restaurant besides mine, so it was a sad state of affairs. The only thing that marginally redeemed this experience was the older bartender who had served me during a few lunches before. He was a legit professional and made up what ground he could. I always speak with my wallet, so I may give them another shot, but that will be it, and that's only due to the time I have invested in the place. But if you're looking for a cool watering hole with great food, I must recant my earlier recommendations that highlighted my love for the place. This was an unacceptable and severely disappointing experience, an aloof staff and poor service spend your money somewhere else. read more

We came here with a group of other friends in an effort to fill a void in our stomachs after a long day. They were not extremely busy so we thought this might be a good place to wind down with our friends. We were told to sit wherever we wanted to and found a table in the middle of the restaurant where there were some other patrons. We waited for several minutes for anyone to come acknowledge us, bring us menu's, take our drink order, etc. Nothing for more than 5 minutes. One of the bus boys finally brought us menu's and then still no wait staff for several more minutes. A waiter finally decided to come to our table and took our drink order. We waited several more minutes and some of the 8 in our group got their drink order. The remainder got their drinks a few minutes later and then again we were ignored by the staff. After at least another 10 minutes our waiter finally came back to see if we were finally ready to order. We all placed our orders and thought that things were finally moving in the right direction. Was I ever wrong. The waiter brought out hummus appetizer and set it down at one end of the table. We all looked at it in wonder since nobody had ordered it. When we finally were able to flag down our waiter he called us liars about not ordering it and took it away. We waited another 10-15 minutes and finally got some of our entrée orders at the table. Our drinks had not been refilled at this time and we asked our waiter what the problem was that was making everything move at such a tortoise's pace. We were told that the kitchen was being slammed with orders. This seemed a bit far fetched with only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the tables with anyone at them and most of the other patrons at the bar. From where we were we could also see that our waiter seemed more interested in chatting it up with the bartenders. Still no drink refills... I finally went over to a table where somebody had left a pitcher of iced tea and filled my own glass. Our waiter came over and asked how the food was and if there was anything he could do. I asked for a glass of ice and our check. I had barely turned back to my wife and there our waiter was with our check. Yes, the only thing that came with ANY sense of urgency was our check in less than 2 minutes. I never got that glass of ice and something else that will never happen is my wife or I darkening the doors of this restaurant. To put it mildly they could care less about their patrons. Our meal with paltry service took over 2 hours. We won't be back! read more
