    Happy hour

I love this place, it's quiet, ducked off and has AMAZING food. I'm just in town and googled it and figured I'd give it a try. The happy hour is killer and the service is 10/10. Definitely recommend.

Everything about our visit was nothing short of amazing. The drinks, food and most importantly the service. High five!!! The cocktails were strong, well-balanced, and expertly crafted. I casually mentioned to our server that I should've ordered my second drink without the sugar syrup and without hesitation, he had it remade to my liking. That level of attentiveness and proactive service is rare and truly commendable. Kudos to Rex's for genuinely taking care of their guests. Tried the tuna nachos, smoked salmon appetizer and the redfish with beans & cheesy grits. Everything tasted exceptional. The restaurant is conveniently located, with ample parking and a warm, inviting decor. A quick tip: make a reservation, as it tends to get busy every day of the week. Pricing: It's not inexpensive, but absolutely worth it for the high-quality food and top-tier service. Will I return? Without a doubt - absolutely!

THE SOFT SHELL CRAB! Mamma Mia! So good.

We dined with friends who just moved to the area and we love a good seafood house and Rex's in North Dallas did not disappoint. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the fresh oysters and the massive variety! They place a label so that you know which type of oysters you are eating. They were delightful with the beautiful mignonette sauce. So good. We also shared appetizers including crawfish hushpuppies, fried oysters and the tuna nachos. My favorite was the tuna nachos. They were super! When we were there, they were offering fried soft shell crab as one of the specials. When they have soft shell crab.....YOU MUST GET THE SOFT SHELL CRAB! However, my husband got the halibut that was also a special and it was outstanding. The sides were really good. Hubby got red beans and rice and sauteed spinach and I got the spinach and the cheesy grits. I was very impressed by the beans and rice. Good beans always make hubs happy! We both ordered the blood orange mule cocktail and it was strong enough and delicious! The service was very friendly and the ambiance is just what you would expect and very clean throughout. Next time, I want to order some items from the seafood market within. Absolutely everything looked divine. I will be back!

Easy breezy sipping on Rosè while I wait for my table!

What have I been missing all this time?! I travel to Dallas often for business, and as always, I'm on the hunt for the best local spots to try. A good friend recommended Rex's and told me I had to check it out--I'm so glad I listened! The vibe is casual yet refined--humble, but with a touch of sophistication. I didn't have a reservation (Resy showed no availability), but since I was dining solo, I decided to take a chance and go anyway. The hostess at the front was incredibly kind and assured me she'd take care of me right away. She offered me a drink while I waited, and I went with a glass of rosé. I sat outside and sipped peacefully, and within minutes, she had a table ready for me. The place was packed! As I walked to my table, I glanced around--left, right--and everything looked amazing. I treated myself to a bottle of Prosecco, half a dozen oysters, the tuna nachos, and the sea bass with sautéed spinach, rice, and red beans. Everything was absolutely divine. I took my time, popped in my AirPods, and caught up on Real Housewives of Atlanta while enjoying every bite. I seriously can't wait to come back!

My family and I were in town and loved our dinner at Rex's. We had no reservations but were immediately seated even during a fairly busy weekend. We first split their ceviche which was very refreshing. We also tried their blackened redfish, seafood pasta, and wedge salad. Their portions are huge! The redfish especially was very tender and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and it's a beautifully decorated restaurant without it being too fancy. Would absolutely recommend Rex's!

    Something like a French 75
    Johnetta H.

I would say this was a good choice for fish and seafood. I enjoyed my cocktail which was a twist to my fav French 75. Lobster bisque and tuna tacos for appetizers were really good. I got the red fish, red beans & rice, and broccoli for entree. The red fish didn't taste seasoned at all, not even salt. The broccoli was heavy on the garlic but tasty. Loved the red beans & rice. For dessert I had the fudge pie which was pretty good. I'd come back and try something different next time.

Loved loved loved! The customer service was amazing, ambiance 10/10... and if that isn't enough, the food is amazing! We will be back 10/10

Ask the Community - Rex's Seafood and Market

Wear is the new location not at the farmers market?

Hi Robert, We are currently located at 6713 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas TX 75225. We are near the corner of Northwest Highway and Hillcrest Rd. Hope to see you soon!

Is the NW Hwy location fairly casual (summertime shorts) or is it more dress-up?

    Yes, casual. No dress code

Do they have a full bar?

I believe the new location does as it is in a larger space. The Farmer's Market location does not have a full bar, only beer and wine.

Do they have a gluten free breading option?

We do not carry any gluten free breading options at the moment. I haven't found one that we are in love with! However, we can prepare any fish any way you like it to match your dietary needs. We try to keep everything simple and to the point. Salt…

This place is located in Asian Times Square which I've never been to and embarrassingly didn't even know was there, it's a Plaza with Hong Kong market and the equivalent of a bizarre inside with a bunch of little shops offering different services and merchandise. The Plaza also has shops like Paris Baguette, 85° Bakery and several restaurants including an Asian food court which regrettably I did not check out before we left. The good news is I found the wrappers I was looking for and we bought some yummy Asian snacks while we were there as well, this Market has a large selection of Asian Foods, fresh meat and seafood. If you'd like Asian markets or you're looking for a specific Asian item that is difficult to find and if you just want to check out a really cool Market I would definitely recommend checking out Hong Kong market

I make beef jerky at home and need very thin, consistent slices of beef, and they're always happy to help when I ask. They do an excellent job and it makes a huge difference. The store is also well organized, with shelves consistently stocked and a wide variety of items. Produce is fresh, and another big plus is that checkout lines are usually not long, which makes the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Absolutely worth the drive and easily one of my go-to Asian markets.

This is, by far, the best 大排档-style Cantonese restaurant to open in DFW in recent years. There…read morearen't many places here that serve this style of Cantonese food authentically, and this one easily stands out for both quality and execution. The prices are slightly on the higher side, but the ingredients are fresh, the portions are reasonable, and every dish we ordered was cooked exceptionally well. As someone who cooks Cantonese food regularly and has eaten extensively across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Malaysia, and Singapore, I can honestly say the standard here exceeds most Cantonese restaurants in the area. The chef is from Guangzhou, and it definitely shows. The Beef Hor Fun (Dry Fried Beef Rice Noodles) was excellent. The wok hei was fragrant without being overly smoky, the noodles weren't greasy, and the bean sprouts were still crisp. That's the benchmark for a well-executed hor fun. The Salted Fish Chicken & Eggplant Clay Pot was another standout. The eggplant had clearly been lightly fried before being braised, giving it a wonderful texture--soft but not mushy, fragrant, and not overly oily. It paired perfectly with a bowl of white rice. My only minor comment is that I personally prefer a stronger salted fish flavor, having enjoyed this dish in many places across Southeast Asia. That's purely personal preference rather than a criticism. The biggest surprise of the night was the 香顶面. I didn't even get a photo because we finished it before I remembered! It was incredibly fragrant, the shrimp were very fresh, and the flavors were unlike anything I've had elsewhere in DFW. Definitely a must-order. The restaurant itself is small, with only about six tables, giving it a cozy neighborhood feel. Despite its size, they offer impressively fresh seafood and dishes that are prepared with great attention to detail. Overall, this is a fantastic find. The pricing reflects the quality of the ingredients and cooking, and it's well worth it if you're looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine rather than the usual Americanized Cantonese fare. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu. 5 stars. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates true Cantonese cooking.

Highly…read morerecommend emailing or calling to make a reservation especially at peak times because the place is pretty small and service can be on the slow side. - Pineapple pork ribs: table fave first and second time, super flavorful but not too saucy or overly sweet - Typhoon prawn fried rice: also super flavorful and loved the pop of salt from the black beans. Lots of jalapeños but they weren't really spicy so it wasn't detrimental to enjoyment of dish. We got a small our first time and it was definitely enough for 3 people - Salted fish chicken eggplant: tasty and aromatic dish, Angela one of the owners said it's a super traditional canto dish. Eggplant was well cooked and the flavors were solid. Nothing mindblowing but good home cooking, prob would've been better over white rice. - Scallion chicken (half): pretty tender but flavor didn't really penetrate all the way through... probably the weakest dish both times we came. White meat not the juiciest I've had sadly. - Garlic fried eggplant: had this the second time we came because of a seafood allergy at the table and it was so good, one of our faves for sure. - Laziji (spicy fried chicken): MIL said this is probably the best version of this dish she's had in DFW. Really good and quite spicy so beware! - Razor clams: on the pricier side but really well flavored and super fresh. - Garlic butter prawns (or something like that): so well fried, huge, and delicious. You just can't go wrong with anything prawn related on the menu. Love that white rice is priced super reasonably here (50 cents for a decently sized individual bowl). Will be back!
