I called for a takeout order and waited on hold for five minutes before hanging up and just waiting until I got there. It's Mother's Day weekend, places are crazy busy, no big deal. Placed my order and waited. I was there for just over a half an hour which again no big deal, it's a busy weekend. However, during that entire time I was there the manager/owner (not sure of her role only that it was higher up) was not wearing a mask. She had some clear plastic mask-like thing dangling from an ear but never once was it on her face while I was there. She was in the window traying food, gathering takeout orders, talking to servers and cooks over people's food. All of the other employees were wearing them although some not correctly. However she wasn't even attempting to. We order from Here often through my office as well as my home but will probably refrain until the pandemic is over. I get that masks suck, nobody likes them or wants to wear them but if you expect your employees as well as customers to wear them you should at least make an effort. Especially indoors and especially in an establishment as small and as busy as this place. read more

FANTASTIC - I would highly recommend STACKED! As someone else mentioned - The Red Velvet French Toast IS TO DIE FOR!!! You think its going to be overly sweet/rich but not at all. You do not need syrup because the filling is a cream cheese swirl that is the PERFECT balance with french toast. My friend had the ham & cheese omelet and it was fluffy & DELICIOUS. Yes, upon arrival at 12noon on a Saturday, we did have to wait appx 15mins but well worth it. Our waitress was Kathy and very friendly, checking back with us a few times to see how we were doing. An awesome addition to the Oak Lawn scene! You know this place is popular when at 8:30 am, the waiting time is 20 minutes! We decided to wait it out since I had to try the red velvet french toast. We did have to wait a bit longer than expected, but the hosted was very friendly and the environment was comfortable so we didn't mind. I ordered the Crabby Benny (eggs benedict with crab cakes), my husband had the Country Skillet and we ordered a full order of red velvet french toast. The Crabby Benny was delicious and fresh; the Country skillet was hearty and didn't stop steaming until the end of our meal; and the Red Velvet French Toast... UNBELIEVABLE! I have no idea how they got these crazy flavorful french toast slices so amazingly fluffy and light, but rich and decadent! I thought about them for the rest of the day! My only complaints would be the size of the restaurant, which is too tiny for the crowd its pulling (which is a good sign!) and that they don't offer half orders on some of their more famous dishes - we would have easily ordered a couple more options if they offered this. Before I begin. I need to explain why I am giving this place 3 stars. The food here is absolutely delectable. I have never been dissatisfied with any meal I have eaten here. My problem is the wait time. If you've ever been here, you know exactly what I mean. This place is so crowded there are lines of people out the door waiting to be seated. Every time I come here I have never been seated without waiting at least 30 minutes. So if you have somewhere to be in 2 hours, i would highly suggest skipping this place. They need to expand to accommodate the inflow of customers that want to enjoy their delicious skillets, and pancakes and crepes! The service here is usually excellent, the environment is bright and vibrant. I would recommend for the food though, 5 stars. read more

Called in for a Greek lemon soup. When I got home I realized it was the wrong soup but I live 25 min away so decided to try it anyway. Poured some into a bowl and found a hair in it. I was shocked at the disparity between my experience and the high yelp review. Then i noticed that the place has 7 blocked reviews for 5 stars by the owner or his friends. Perhaps another 7 made it through fine. I went here with my wife on a Sunday for brunch and it was pretty packed. We had eggs benedict and French toast with berries and yogurt. If you're trying to eat healthy by substituting ingredient's this is not the place for you. Even things as simple as cottage cheese on the side instead of hash browns are an extra charge. We asked for hollandaise on the side but since this place is not used to any deviations this was forgotten. The French Toast was great but the menu gives you an impression of this being fried with a granola batter whereas it's actually drizzled. There is a delicious item on the menu however. On the backpage you'll find a chilli soup. This is fantastic, the beef is juicy and the onions and cheese are freshly laid out on the side ready for you to mix in. Cute little place with lots of windows, which means a ton of nature light! I was afraid of the wait based on other reviews. But it was shorter than the 30 minutes we were told upon arrival (about 20 minutes). The food was good. Nothing overly spectacular but good. Between three people, we had crabcake Benedict, traditional breakfasts, and the red velvet pancakes. The crabcake was light and flavorful and the red velvet pancakes were tasty. I only had a taste...or three of the pancakes because I didn't order them. I must note that they were not overly sweet like some places. I don't want to eat cake with breakfast, so I really appreciated the fact that they only had a slight sweetness to them. Next time, I will probably order them with my meal or try the french toast. A few things to note: 1) The water is AWFUL! I don't know why it tastes like that but it's not good. 2) The hashbrowns had a funny taste. I'm not quite sure what it was but something was off. 3) I witnessed one of the waitstaff dig in her teeth. To be fair, she did disappear from view immediately, so I'm not sure if she went to wash her hands (Lord, I hope so)! I really need people who deal with food to be cognizant of habits (touching hair, fixing clothes, touching face). Saw them on Chicago's best, lines everywhere. I waited for rush to slow down. Finally I went there .food was good generous portions, tasted fresh. A small place but plenty of seating if you choose bar along wall as last resort. But I got typical breakfast 2eggs, bacon, hash browns , toast and coffee.....$17 !!?! Rather costly but up the worst was yet to come . If you use a charge card there is a $3.99 surcharge ! Service was great but tips will be sacrificed with that surcharge. I had enough cash so paid cash and gave generous tip as I usually do. Hoped for a new good breakfast place in area, the best so far is still Huck Finn on Cicero. For reference for excellent breakfast option, the best I've ever been too so far are #1 Burnt Toast in Elgin or Algonquin and #2 Egg Haven in Dekalb , also #3 Flappys Pancake house in Dekalb - great waffles there! We visited for a late breakfast on a Thursday. Our party consisted of two. There was a short wait for a table but we had the option for a table or a booth within ten minutes. After reading some good reviews I knew before we arrived that I was going to order the Red Velvet French Toast. The price of almost $9 seemed a bit high (most pancake and French toast options were between $8 and $9) but the quality was good with a nice red cake and smooth and rich cream cheese frosting. I would have liked more egg batter on the French toast and it was a bit sweet (chocolate and powdered sugar on top the already sweet cake and filling) for a breakfast offering. I wouldn't likely order it again. My companion ordered some wheat and berry pancakes. The stack contained five cakes and a good amount of berries. The restaurant was cold and a rush of cold air whipped through every time a customer entered or exited. At first our waitress came by and asked for drink orders, though it took her a long time to bring out the water. And finally, she came back for food orders. I went with the chorizo omelette, and asked if they could bring me a side salad instead of potatoes. Despite having salads on the menu, I was informed this wasn't a possibility. Whatever, despite repeated suggestions of hash browns, I went with the fruit, declining toast/pancakes. Now, at any breakfast place, you expect rushed service, they take your order, fill your coffee cup once or twice and bring your food out in a few minutes. It took 20-25 minutes for our food (two omelettes and banana bread) to come out of the kitchen, while we saw patrons who sat down after us being served. Once we got our food, all was well. It tasted great, was fresh, had large portions, and was affordable. However, the waitress also forgot to bring out my fruit, not really a big deal until we were charged for it. I have a feeling we simply might have had a bad server, when we went up to pay and I asked for the fruit to be removed, the hostess quickly did it, but clearly made a look towards our server. I was a bit hesitant after reading some reviews but very glad I didn't let it keep me from coming in. I didn't have to wait to get seated but then it was a weekday and just past peak times. The staff was friendly and helpful. They kept my coffee filled and were out promptly to take my order, and then back as I needed a few to decide what I would have. I ordered the Irish eyes skillet (might be called something else but close to this.) It was corned beef hash with shredded potatoes. Topped with 2 eggs with hollandaise sauce and 2 pancakes. The food was hot, I had to let it rest before I tore into it. The food was real good and the quantity was more than enough to fill me up with a few bites left behind. The pancakes were very good I had read a review that they were undercooked and can see where someone might think this. They use buttermilk and the texture is similar to cake and moist. In my opinion this is the only way to serve them and the same way I used to serve ours. The price wasn't too bad and I would definitely recommend it although can see how busy they can get so pick your time so you don't have to wait for a table. read more

We were searching for a breakfast place to inhabit after getting an oil change at the nearby dealership. Word to the wise, this is a breakfast/brunch place, which means it WILL be crowded on the weekends. If you don't mind smaller spaces, when the waiter says "would you mind sitting at a small table by the condiment rack?" say YES!! (because it's really not as bad as it sounds or looks) I ordered their Omelette with jalapenos. I don't remember the name, I think it was Ole, and Egg Nog pancakes. Not the best sounding combo, but I'm weird so that's besides the point. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the omelette was really good, but what really blew my mind was the option to have red potatoes. You usually only get shaved hash browns that are never cooked so well at normal restaurants, so to get this option and receive non greasy cubed potatoes was a god send - despite the fact i didn't see any red peel on them and wouldn't really know if they WERE red potatoes, but whatever. Still better than shaved greasy half ass cooked has browns! Our waitress was super nice and i give her kudos for putting up with my picky tastes. I always have trouble finding the right combination for what i have a taste for, and sadly this place fell into the category of having everything I wanted, but not on one dish. I had trouble deciding, and she had tried to rattle of items on the menu that met at least three of what I was craving. I sacrificed one of the items (sadly it was bacon. I really wanted the potatoes) and went with what I mentioned above. Started off by arriving to a 25 minute wait, I was hesitant to wait or order Togo but the guy at the front made sure that I was seated as soon as possible. Which showed he really cared. This was arguably the worst breakfast experience I've ever had. Servers were unaware and inattentive. Sat at our table for 10-15 minutes before our server even acknowledged us, in fact she actually served the table that was sat after me and left me sitting for another 5 minutes. This place is extremely unorganized and the workers last common sense and have 0 urgency to pick up the pace during busy spurt. I served myself and would handle anywhere from 10-12 tables at a time. Food is really good but place is very small. I thought since it's always packed it would be a good idea to order to go. A lady answered and is making us wait 30 minutes to order. They said we can go in and place the order. My husband goes in and tells me that it doesn't seem too busy and we could have went in to eat there. My question is.... why couldn't take our phone order after calling twice and making us go in since they weren't that busy? I noticed some reviews complained about the wait, my advice is to get over it. ... This place is popular and rightfully so. My mother-in-law had the corned beef hash and eggs with the gluten - free pancakes, my husband had the skirt steak and eggs, and I had the Iron Man breakfast. Everything was excellent, the service was great (and they were completely slammed! ), and we left knowing we must come back. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I'm hoping the owner reads this and considers making the corned beef hash from scratch (hint, hint), that would make the breakfast menu perfect. read more
