Usually always busy but don't know why. Lived in the city mostly all life, use to all the great brunch spots over there. This place is alright, the food is okay nothing to be like "This is the best breakfast" for suburbs it's okay. Service it usually decent nothing to complain there. Tried their skillets, omelets, pancakes and there's nothing really that stands out to make them great. I've driven past Stacked for awhile now and have always wanted to try it - it always seems packed! My hubby and I went on a Saturday morning at about 930 - there was a wait - about 15 minutes - but not too bad. We decided to split the breakfast burrito and a stack of buttermilk pancakes. The burrito was good, not great. It had chorizo in it which I am not particularly a fan of simply because I find it too greasy (personal choice but hubby enjoyed it). The stack of pancakes were delicious! I'm not usually a pancake fan (more of the salty breakfast type), but these were thick, fluffy, and delicious! Incredibly filling as well! They were the best pancakes I've had in a long time! The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and she didn't instantly top the coffee off, always asked. I just have a pet peeve about that simply because I don't drink my coffee black. I though the prices were good as well - nothing out of the ordinary. I have no problem paying more for premium ingredients but I can easily call out some local greasy spoon places for a much better price and perhaps better flavor (Skillet House, Lumes...) Also, I'm not a fan of who must be the manager. The staff is great, very polite and check in on your table well...I didn't appreciate the manager being quick to grab my card without even asking my wife or I how we liked our food...rather just shouting past us to one of his staff to bust a table. The restaurant was packed but the crowd was moving at a fairly good pace. We were acknowledged by a cashier upon entry; she greeted us, took our name, and let us know there was a bit of a wait. Honestly, we expected to wait due to the day/time. The establishment is VERY small, but the layout is effective. We were seated and the waitress was very thorough/attentive. There is a nice variety of food, but order at your own risk. We like to try new meals when patronizing new businesses. My friend ordered the Ole Omlette; a generous portion of Chorizo sausage, jalapeno peppers, topped with cheddar cheese, fresh avocado & served with a side of sour cream. DELICIOUS! Definitely planned to return and order one for myself on the following Saturday. I ordered blueberry pancakes and asked if they had compote or fresh blueberries. The waitress said they have both and I opted to have fresh berries. BUMMER! There were no more than 15 blueberries on the entire plate and 5 of those were mixed into the pancake batter. I am accustomed to blueberry pancakes that have a generous portion of berries in the pancake as well as on top of the pancake. The pancakes were buttery and fluffy... after two bites I was already making plans to return for more pancakes, but I wanted more blueberries. I asked the waitress for a side of compote and she informed me that there would be an extra charge. I was willing to pay the extra charge for a yummy blueberry compote (I am in love with the FRESH blueberry compote served at the Original Pancake House on 104th & Western). Unfortunately, what she brought out was NOT palatable... at all. Basically, their compote is a big, viscous, nasty glop of low-quality canned blueberry pie filling. YUCK! When the waitress sat the saucer of compote on the table, it wobbled/jiggled like pudding. I dipped the tip of my knife into the mound of "compote" and tasted it from the knife. One taste and I was ready to regurgitate the few pieces of pancake I consumed while waiting for this saucer of psudo-compote. I told the waitress, "I cannot eat that, please take that away." She said, "No problem, fresh was the way to go." We enjoyed our food and asked for the check. The check included the charge for the UNPALATABLE blueberry compote... despite the fact that I did not eat it and I sent it away from the table. The waitress said she could not remove it from the check because we "ordered it and it was delivered to the table"!!! I've dined in a wide array of restaurants, from five star to local dives, and I've never heard of the customer being charged for food they sent back. I spoke with the manager ans she said, "We have to charge you because there was no mistake on our part, we can't help it if you ordered something you didn't like. I could see if we messed up your order, but we didn't." Of course I contended, "I've sent entire unconsumed entrees back at other well-know restaurants (because I did not like the dish) and they did not charge for the meal, this is about a side of compote." She retorted, "There's a 1st time for everything." To which I replied, "This 1st will also be my last time here." I paid for the nasty compote and I will gladly patronize other restaurants with quality customer service and edible blueberry compote. Place should be called "Stomped and Frozen". Sure it's bitterly cold out, but I couldn't find releaf at the booth furthest from the entrance and windows. The kitchen was making so much noise at 6:30 am, guess they're pounding their meat? Prices for a breakfast sandwich at nearly $9 is #Stacked in their favor. Needed salt/pepper/cholula, but was decent. Coffee not super hot, but worked in a thermal cup I travel with. Not sure I'd go out of my way to make it back here. Service wasn't over the top, but good. The theme of this review is the word "too." Too utterly crowded on the days when you'd want to go to a pancake house. Too long a wait for seating, for menus, for drinks and food. The seating is too tightly packed, everyone is basically sitting in someone else's lap. The food was either too salty or too bland, and it was never what you'd expect those pitfalls to happen on. My omelette must have visited the seaside before getting to me because there was a Chicago winter's worth of salt in that puppy. Alternately, the Irish Bennie was devoid of salt and flavor. How? Too much chewed gum stuck under the table, some of it fresh. Gross. The waitstaff were pretty nice despite being slammed, and they have good coffee. The breakfast menu selection is good, and the lunch menu offers a variety of interesting sandwich wraps. There is usually a 15 to 30 minute wait to be seated, due to the small dining room. My wife and I thought it was worth the wait, due to the quality of the food. However, I thought the prices were a little higher than other breakfast restaurants in the area, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Stacked was my go-to breakfast restaurant when I was a student at Saint Xavier University! Me and my friends looked forward to Stacked on our lazy Sunday afternoons for brunch! The service is GREAT and the food is even better! I recommend all of their skillets, the banana walnut waffle, and their stuffed French toast! And of course, their pancakes are amazing! Stacked is one of the best breakfast spots in Chicago, hands down! I have not tried their lunch menu because the breakfast is too hard to resist. The only negative aspect is the long wait to be seated. We always have to wait at least 45min to an hour. The waiting area is very small and usually packed full of people waiting to be seated or paying for their meal. We usually just leave and come back within the time frame. While Stacked is worth the wait, it would be great if they could expand the restaurant and offer more seating. Overall, five stars from me for sure! read more

I hadn't eaten breakfast and was in the neighborhood. I logged on to Yelp to look for the nearest restaurant and given their rating I decided to give them a try. I waited a while for a seating of one which wasn't a problem because I wasn't in any rush. While waiting I'd overheard the owner tell a joke to a patron that involved immigration and his staff which were of Mexican descent. I wasn't offended and don't mind racial jokes if they're said in jest and not meant to be hateful, but as an owner of an establishment it's not a joke you say aloud in front of others who might not find that brand of humor to be funny. I was called upon to be seated and was asked by the owners wife whether I'd preferred a table or a single seater at the window. When I'd chose the table she'd turned her head and gave me a bit of a snarky look. I understand that there were others waiting, but if she left the choice up to me that's her own fault. Also, the table could have easily seated four, but there were only two seats at the table which is why I'd selected it. Once I'd sat down I was promptly waited on by Christina K. and she was very pleasant and attentive. I noticed that all the other waitresses shared her same qualities and attributes with their customers as well. They definitely made up for the discourteous demeanor of the owners. I'd placed my order and it wasn't a very long wait given their busy activity so the kitchen did an excellent job. The breakfast was a little pricey, but it was a decent meal nonetheless. The one thing that spoiled my meal was the table next to me. A small group of three which one of them was loud and she talked more $h!t than a little. Other tables took notice and seemed a bit bothered by her and shook their heads. I tried my best to ignore her, but when she started telling her nephew that if they weren't related that he could, "Get it!", I wanted to asked to be seated elsewhere. She then repeated the story to her waitress when she'd approached the table to ask if everything was to their liking. I felt bad for the kid because he asked her not to repeat herself, but the waitress humored her by hearing her out and brushed it off by smiling and asking the nephew if he was enjoying his food. She handled it correctly because there isn't much she could have said to something like that. Aside from the owners disposition and lack of supervision over it's patrons the quality of service from their waitresses and the output from their kitchen was top notch and earns this establishment 3 stars. My only suggestion would be that the owners take notice and learn from their staff on how to make their patrons feel more comfortable by being more welcoming. read more

The food here is delicious and plentiful. I've been here twice and so far no one has been disappointed by their order. The first time I came, I kept it simple with eggs over medium, hashbrowns, and pancakes on the side. I'm not a huge pancakes for breakfast person, but this place could easily convert me. The pancakes were awesome: light, fluffy, delicious. The second time, I went for the breakfast panini which was huge. I was full after just half of it. There are a ton of things on the menu I want to try (red velvet pancakes!?!) so I see many return trips in my future. I am so glad to finally have a unique and creative breakfast place in the neighborhood! Be warned, this place isn't huge and it does get pretty busy (at least on the weekends). It's a gorgeou space, and service is quick and friendly. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have a good method of seating yet. They seem to seat people in the exact order they checked, which I understand and can appreciate, but I feel like you do need to deviate to make the most of your seating arrangements. Let me explain... Our party of 5 got there about 11:00 on a Sunday morning, and it was very crowded. All of their tables seat 4, they have two large boths that seat 6, and the window front bar that seats 5 (I think) side-by-side. There was a group of 6 seated at two tables pushed together, and one name ahead of us on the list. We assume they would go ahead and seat us at the two tabled pushed together, but rather they separated the tables, seated the party of 3 that was ahead of us on the list, and then offered to squeeze us in at the other table. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem but my boyfriend is 6'3" and my brother is 6'2" and was on crutches. There was no way there would be enough room for the 5 or us. We ended up having to wait for one of the booths to open (which thankfully didn't take too much longer) and they continued to seat other parties at the tables. We ended up waiting just over an hour to be seated. This is still a new business so I'm hoping as time passes they'll get a better feel for efficient seating in their space, but it was definitely an irritation at that time. Hands down a top 5 breakfast spot. The best in Oak Lawn. I've dined at Stacked numerous times and the food has always been great. The last time I dined at Stacked, I got the oreo pancakes and a bowl of cream of chicken soup which was superb. the only reason I gave this review 4 stars is because the parking while a pretty decent size; its always troubling finding a park because all of the stores right there share that parking lot, so you literally have to watch and wait for someone to come out and then try and hurry and grab that spot before some else does. You're pretty much playing musical chairs in the parking lot. And if its a Saturday or Sunday good luck because Stacked stays crowded on the weekends which brings me to the other reason I gave Stacked 4 stars; the waiting area. The waiting area is very small and always congested. While Stacked is efficient and timely in getting people seated; you still have people all on you invading your personal space until you are seated. Other than those minor issues; Stacked is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Illinois. read more

I came with my brother & sister-in-law. I ordered the Irish skillet and upgraded the side of pancakes to Oreo pancakes. My brother had the chicken breakfast burrito & his wife had the steak skillet. I've never seen these 2 NOT finish their meal, this was a first as they both took the leftovers home. My Irish skillet tasted ok but after I left I kept spitting up tiny pieces of all I could describe as "bony rubber" which I'm guessing were the so called potatoes from the corned beef hash as it was the same color and size. The Oreo pancakes were fantastic, a 10! I would go back for the pancakes but would hesitate to go back only because knowing that something wasn't quite right in the kitchen pertaining to my other meal which once again I'm pretty sure specifically pertained to the corned beef hash. My brother loves steak & eggs but their price was $27 for their steak & eggs which was way overpriced so he settled for the breakfast burrito. He said he frequents other places in the area where he can get a steak & egg breakfast for under $15. Overall I would come back again for the pancakes only. I give the Oreo pancakes a 10 out of 10 but the Irish skillet and more specifically the corned beef hash get a 1 out of 10. Best & worst in one dining experience which just doesn't happen. Overall I give Stacked a 2 1/2 but there are no half's so I rounded up to 3 because the Oreo pancakes were so delicious. read more

What? A breakfast place? Where? I am a lover of all types of breakfast foods. My favorite meal of the week is our Sunday morning breakfast out. I noticed this place along 95th street one day and made a mental note. Then my Grandma started raving about this place one day, and I finally put my foot down. I had to try it! We came on a Saturday/Sunday morning and there was a wait. The place is more popular than it can handle but I did hear they are expanding the place and that's good to know. We waited for a table and I'm glad we did. The food was delicious! Dan got a breakfast panini that he let me try and I was impressed. The service was awesome. It was a little too hot in there but we always had a full cup of coffee and a friendly server nearby. I ordered a french toast dish and was really happy with it. The staff were super friendly, the place is very trendy, but almost everything on the menu was a repeat of the same breakfast items that I can find at ANY breakfast place. The coffee was ordinary, the omelette was good, and the pancakes were as expected. I wouldn't mind eating here again if I happen to be in the neighborhood, and there is no waiting, but won't go out of my way to try it again. Those 15 pass by and I took the buzzer in and left. No names had been eliminated in front of us. I stated how long I waited and wouldn't wait any longer. I received an "okay" and I was off on my way. I understand the wait. But I just ask for a reasonable time to wait and the establishment stand behind it. Or admit it'll be longer. That never happened today. The food looked great on Yelp and in person. Would love to have tried it. But I won't be back to wait again. The staff seemed uninterested in clearing tables to get to the next customers. This place clearly does well enough to not need new business. Nor care about serving the customer quickly and effectively. There are plenty of breakfast joints inside a five-mile radius of Stacked. However, today when we went to breakfast the water served to us tasted terrible. I asked the lady who managed the restaurant, why they didn't serve filtered water to their customers? She said she didn't know, but would ask the owner. Which, I could've swore "she," was the wife of the owner. The fact that she also laughed about the question really concerned me. This little breakfast spot on 95th is well worth your time. I walked in as a single and had to wait a bit on account of the popularity of this place. I obviously used Yelp to source this place and it definitely did not disappoint. You will definitely want to order the pancakes, any style, and enjoy the fluffiness that will surely ensue. I ordered a scramble with feta and tomatoes that was simple, fresh, and delicious. My coffee cup was never less than half full and I got service with a smile. In a busy restaurant environment it can be difficult to provide that level of service happily, but these folks did a splendid job. I've got nothing but good things to say about Stacked. This was my first time here and I'm already looking forward to going again. Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9:30am, and I expected to wait. We were quoted 20-30 minutes and were seated about 25 minutes later. This place is much smaller than I had anticipated and there's really nowhere to wait for a table, so keep that in mind. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, MIL had the plain crepes, and my son got the kids pancakes. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fast. The biscuits and gravy were fab. Sausage gave it a bit of a kick and the gravy was flowing. The pancakes were the fluffiest ones I've ever seen. Thankfully my little guy is only 2 so I was able to help him finish them off. Diners next to us ordered the french toast and that's definitely what I plan on ordering next time...if I can convince someone at the table to order the biscuits and gravy again so I can have a bite. Prices were reasonable in my opinion and the service was stellar. The manager/owner even stopped by our table to say hi to my son (in all fairness, he's adorable so I really can't blame her).
