Pleasantly surprised with the food here! It definitely gives off the most classic diner vibes. It seems like this establishment hasn't aged at all and is true for what they started with! It does feel a bit old in the inside, but food is really great here! Portions are huge so you'd want to share with a friend. We ordered a Texas omelette (which comes with toast too) and a blueberry waffle. The omelette was pretty hefty but very delicious! The hash browns were really good too. The waffle was so cute! I liked how the blueberry jam(?) was extremely thick and paired so well with the waffle. Truly a classic brunch diner. Sitting outside was also pretty nice and breezy. There seems to usually be a wait for this restaurant, but we honestly didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The waitress was also really perky! The German pancakes are sooo good. And the eggs Benedict. I Love the diner feel , servers are great . New Manager not so much. He's very rude . Always yelling at his staff , who I assume maybe his family because I don't think the other staff will tolerate it. But regardless I want to enjoy my time and my food without hearing and feeling someone be stressed and stress the staff. I don't want the bad vibes to go into my food. What a complete disappointment. This place used to be good, but my recent visit was terrible. I asked for my bacon well done which seems like a simple request but they couldn't get it right, twice! Instead of cooking it properly, they just deep-fried it and sent it out salty and hard. Then my eggs... I specifically asked for over-hard, and they came out runny and raw. At that point it was clear nobody in the kitchen was paying attention or cared. The quality has gone way downhill. For a place that once had good food, this was honestly one of the worst breakfast experiences I've had. I won't be coming back. read more

This place can get packed. I came here with my mom since we were nearby. I chose to get their Polish skillet ($17.99) with a side of biscuits and gravy. My mom chose to get their Denver omelet with a side of buttermilk pancakes. The Polish skillet came in a warm skillet with crispy hashbrowns and chopped Polish sausage was piled on top with chopped tomatoes and onions with melted Monterey Jack cheese. The biscuits and gravy was fluffy and soft and the gravy was a bit bland. My mom's order was filling with plenty of chopped bell peppers, onions, and chopped ham with plenty of melted cheese. The pancakes were fluffy and the syrup was not too sweet and they gave a good amount of butter. The staff was nice and the place was clean. Very loud though with a lot of family and large groups. Parking lot can get packed. read more

I've been wanting to try this spot for a while and every time I pass by it looks so busy! This week I finally had a chance to try it and I have to say, it was very. Bleh. I couldn't tell if the host was overwhelmed or just rude. The wait wasn't bad. The server was nice but you can tell they're disorganized, 3 different people asked us if we ordered and when we told them we didn't they said okay and left. Until our waitress assisted. I expected the food to have a home style taste to it, but it was so salty. At most we ate 1/4 of our food. The price was not bad at all, but the overall experience is a No, for me. read more

I loved Flappy Jack's, which is now called Stacks on Route 66. I was recently disappointed in the Chocolate Chip Pancakes (2 stars), which I used to love. The flavor was similar, but the texture seemed different. I'm not sure if it's because of the new ownership that accompanied the name change. It could have been an off batch. I don't think my pancake preferences have changed even though my last visit was eight years ago. Even though the pancakes were soft, they were more crumbly when I cut it with my fork. I remembered the pancakes used to be more fluffy and would not fall apart so easily. It seemed like two of the three pancakes didn't have chocolate chips in the batter and just had chocolate chips sprinkled on top of them. The Waffle (3.5 stars) tasted better with a lightly crisp exterior. However, there was nothing special about it that would make me crave for it. The side of bacon (3.5 stars) was crispy. The service was 3 stars, and our takeout was ready on time. It was still as busy as I remembered even on a weekday with a lot of people waiting outside the full restaurant. I don't think I'll return or wait a long time for this food like I used to. read more

Well, from the outside this place isn't much to look at. You can sit outside all around the front. Luckily, I checked in through yelp and when I got there in about five minutes, they had a table for me and my husband. There were quite a few people waiting, so not sure why I was so lucky. They have a huge menu and the meals are huge. I had an egg skillet over hashbrowns with egg & cheese and a side of pancakes. Needless to say, I have lots of leftovers as I don't eat as much as when I was younger. Love the skillet dish the pancakes something was missing, they weren't real tasty. my husband had the omelette, the first one on the menu with three meats and four eggs. He also got fruit and an English muffin. He also has leftovers. We both had coffee, it was fine. Our server was Sophia B and she was very friendly made sure we had coffee, water. We were told the place is packed on the weekends and I could see that as it was a Sunday. For what you get the prices are extremely reasonable. You pay at the register. They have a large parking lot, but we had to park on the street as it was full along with a few others. read more

Although I feel like "there's no need" for these Folks have been here for quite a while and have a large number of repeat clientele, I'd still like to mention our experience and visit today... Foot traffic didn't stop on a Monday (Nov. 3rd); and eve a little before lunch time. Food was great, just as the service provided by Krystal. Because the food is genuinely good they still get 2 stars. If cleanliness, no AC in a packed building, and if you absolutely don't care about customer satisfaction then this is definitely your spot. Unfortunately for me customer service is a non-negotiable part of dining out. Especially if paying above average prices for a basic meal. Average plate cost is around $17. For example, a burger and fries here is $17 before taxes/tip. So it's expected one would be treated kindly and at the least listened to when making a simple complaint. That is not the case here. The people running this place are extremely rude. From their demeanor, lack of engagement with customers who ask simple questions or have specific needs, inability to engage in conversation as it pertains to one's meal or any of the things I mentioned above, dirty booths/tables/restrooms, problems with making reservations, etc. as examples. No one expects excuses for why things are this way when bringing them to the attention of the "managers", a simple "thank you we'll do our best to accommodate the issue" is more than enough in most situations. Even if you don't mean it sincerely, for the sake of simply making the experience a positive one for your customers, say something nice with a smile. It's not that difficult. In the restaurant/service industry, basic acknowledgment of a customer's complaint is really simple. I want to finish by saying that the food is good I can't complain about that at all. But I won't be coming back here anytime soon because dealing with the staff and upper management isn't worth it imo. Best of luck though. read more

5 stars Stacks on 66 was so good! The wait wasn't long at all, and the food came out quickly. Everything we ordered was absolutely bomb, and the prices were super reasonable--especially considering how huge the portion sizes were. We got one of the skillets (which already came with a side of pancakes), and we also ordered the stuffed French toast. Honestly, the skillet alone was big enough for two people! Next time, we'll probably split it and share the pancakes--it would've been the perfect amount. The stuffed French toast was amazing--super rich and heavy, but so delicious. Definitely recommend splitting it between two or even three people since each piece is pretty big. We weren't sure if we'd like the strawberry preserves, so we got them on the side for dipping, but they were so good we ended up drizzling them all over the top! The service was quick and really friendly--people kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. I also loved the ambiance inside--it had such a cozy, charming country vibe and felt really welcoming. We all had a great experience and can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! read more

Very disappointing. I went when it was flappy Jacks, and the food was excellent. Then Stacks bought them out and the food was still good! But somewhere down the line they changed the Hollandaise sauce to the packaged powdered stuff, and the omelette my guest ordered was made from Carton eggs. Do you know they begged me to pay half price for the meal? That was the last attempt I chose to make and promised the woman we would never be back. Sometimes the food is cold when we get it and when we ordered out I wasn't provided with the condiments that I asked for. This has happened several times. I'd rather go to Dennys their food is better. Good bye Stacks. Enjoy stealing from good people with your fake incomplete food orders! read more

Came here for brunch birthday. They have indoor and outdoor seating but make sure you come really early or else expect to wait awhile since this place gets really packed. Food portions are huge and freaking delicious. Staff is really friendly and hooked us up with 99% champagne and 1% juice upon request! The old school and Route 66 feel is awesome! Definitely an iconic experience. Will definitely come back again. read more

Their waitlist system is a freaking mess! The text says our table MIGHT be ready?! We waited another 15 minutes after receiving our text. I went to the front and waited there. They gave my table to someone else! I was waiting right there! Mind you I'm 5 '10 and not a small person to miss. SMH. They need to do better with their system. I really was very disorganized. My sister and I ordered the Monte Cristo. This meal was huge. It came with soup, salad and fries. We couldn't eat it with both of us. Our meal was less than $20. Came here for lunch on a weekend and there wasn't much of a wait, although the parking lot was pretty full. Sat at a table outside under the patio.. nice when it's good weather. Looks like you can also bring your pet because I saw someone bring their doggie. The menu was pretty extensive like a Denny's or IHOP. I decided to order a Denver omelet with hash brown and pancakes. Took a while before the food came, but when the food actually came, our table had food come out in waves?!? Usually the whole table gets served at the same time, but our food came out in 5 waves! Temperature of the food was warm when we got it. The server looked like she was new because she kept forgetting what we ordered. Another server had to help her, but seemed like he was frustrated with her since she wasn't doing a good job. The food tasted ok, nothing impressive. Hash brown wasn't nice and crispy even though my friend had asked for hers to be extra crispy. I think probably better off going to Denny's lol. Will I come back? This is my second time coming to Stacks, and the service has not been consistent. My family and I have been seated quickly, but getting in order takes about 15 minutes after experiencing two different seating areas, one more visible, and the second time today, to the back. The service has stayed consistent in not being served within the time frame. If you just came in, wouldn't you ask for the drinks, and the waiter will be with you shortly? When we declined having the steak re-fired or free dessert, we finished our wine and asked for the check. The $62 inedible steak was still on the bill, so I asked to speak with the owner. When I calmly explained the issues, the owner became angry that I didn't want the steak redone and walked away mid-conversation. He eventually came back, removed the $62 steak, and told us he didn't want us back in his restaurant. To top it off, for an establishment charging fine-dining prices where guests dress up, the owner was wearing shorts and sneakers. One chance is all a restaurant gets to make a good impression. Lincoln House missed the mark completely. We will not be returning.

If i could give this restaurant a 10 star review i would, this was my first time in this restaurant, i just moved to Pasadena so I'm open to new places, but I'm always excited for pancakes so i had to try the famous Flappy Jacks, me and my boyfriend checked in and the lovely lady told us is was a 15-20 minute wait, meanwhile we waited this older lady menioned that we came at a good time because the wait is usually longer, we got called in 10 minutes which was great, we got sat by this lovely hostess with a headband, never got her name but she was really sweet, she handed our menus and asked for our drink order, while that our server andrea came to greet us and asked if we are ready to order or if we still needed some time to look at the menus. we asked her if she recommended any plates since it is our first time, she recommended the FLAPPY SIGNATURE, STRAWBERRY PANCAKES and the FLAPPY SKILLET. We took all three orders she recommended and made some into combos, her attitude was amazing, she was so nice, checked up on us every time, got our things when we needed them, she really had great service, probably the best service I've ever had, we finished some of our plates because the portions are huge, a nice, older gentleman with an accent came up to us and offered to take our dirty plates out of our way and asked if we are having a good time, if the food was good and if the service was good, we told him it was the by far the best service, he was very happy, i did get his name and he said its Tiger, i made a silly joke if he's friends with tiger woods, and he laughed, he seemed a little different than the other employees so i assumed he was either the general manager or resturant owner just trying to help out. We did sit longer than usual, and observed our server and tiger picking up tables, cleaning and seating, she did come up to us and offered us boxes and drinks to go for the road back home, we said no because we were to full, but over all those two (Andrea and Tiger) really made our experience great, i will be returning again and will be asking for Andrea's wonderful service. read more

Ok food, but stick to the breakfast items, not the lunch or dinner items. The walnut waffle is probably the best item here in my opinion. Everything else is overpriced, more expensive than Denny's, about the same quality as Denny's, but the good thing is they have big portions. Don't really understand the long lines at this place. Here's the thing: One of the men who work here (manager?) should really stop being so rude, namely to his employees. If he wants to be a Bully, he should become a police officer, jail guard, or prison guard, then maybe work at the Glendora Police Department jail, kitchen at Twin Towers, or the prisons, because that's the only place his attitude belongs, so he can contribute to America's 68% re-offense rate and *the largest* incarceration population in the world. My honest impression was that he gave off that 40%-Of-Cops-Beat-Their-Wives Type Energy (because *at least* two peer-reviewed studies and congressional testimony show 40 percent of cops beat their wives). Though that man's toxic attitude has no place in the service industry, oppressive "governments" love that kind of cold attitude -- and he'd probably get a promotion (and raise) from abusing incarcerated people if he were to go into "law enforcement." Also, I suspect some of the people that work here might benefit from seeking counsel from an employment lawyer because it screams "toxic work environment." There are no worse "human beings" than employers that treat their employees like garbage. Personally, I won't be coming back after my last visit. I'd rather eat without having to witness toxic energy, located in a toxic right-wing city (Glendora), with a toxic culture. Read the other reviews to see what I'm talking about, because apparently that was "not a one-time thing;" and Yelpers have tried to point this out in other Google and Yelp reviews, as well as Instagram, but Instagram comments bringing awareness to this issue have been reportedly blocked (according to another review). The food and service was stellar but the management was unparalleled. I had heard amazing reviews about the Breakfast here and I begged my boyfriend to take me. We had to wait for a bit but I didn't mind if the food was as good as they say it is. We were seated after about 20 min and as soon as our waitress came around she greeted us with a huge warm smile. My boyfriend and I ordered the Flappy's Signature pancake special and the Mediterranean Omelet with some hot coffee. As we waited to receive our food I made many good and not so good observations. The wonderful thing is that our waitresses along with the other servers were on top of it. They made sure drinks were taken care of as well as any needs from the customer and It was very clean for as busy as it gets. As far as the cons, well I noticed and I'm pretty sure EVERYONE noticed a very large party/family towards the back of the restaurant. Not a big deal at FIRST, until the ruckus that was made by the unattended children was making it very hard for me to enjoy my stay. The parents or guardians of these wild animals were paying no mind to them opening up sugar packets smashing jelly packets and having everything that you would have on your table top on the ground. I waited to see if anyone was going to complain and I noticed what I believe was the manager head in that direction. My boyfriend and I were relieved until we noticed nothing was done. UGH really? So a lil more time passes our food arrives and the beautiful sight of our food made me forget about the animals for a second. MMMMM MMMMM GOOD! All of our food was made to order! But there was one problem those damn kids!!!!!!! Honestly I can't believe that management didn't take in consideration the other paying customers that were there trying to enjoy Breakfast/Lunch. It makes me wonder if those managers have any clue about managing a well known busy restaurant. I left with a headache and a bad taste in my mouth. I had an early morning meeting at my company's Glendora office, and I wanted to get a good, reasonably healthy breakfast before the meeting started. On the advice of a friend and the strong Yelp reviews, I stopped at this location of Flappy Jack's Pancake House. The restaurant was almost completely empty and I was seated almost immediately. I had expect to order quickly, but, apparently, the restaurant was short staffed at the time. It took a while to get even a cup of coffee, but I had budgeted plenty of time before the meeting. So, it wasn't a big deal. After about 5 minutes, I was able to order the West Coast Omelette. I then relaxed a bit checking out the restaurant's interesting Route 66 themed murals and booths and listening to the 50s and 60s oldies rock tunes. After about 5 minutes, the waitress brought out the buttermilk pancakes that come as a standard side with omelettes here. After about 10 minutes, a waitress apologized that the cook accidentally missed my order's request for Monterrey Jack cheese instead of the Cheddar cheese that the cooks usually use when making that omelette. So, the cook had to start from scratch and make a whole new omelette. Again, I had some time. So, it was not a big deal. In another few minutes, my West Coast Omelette arrived with the Monterrey Jack cheese and egg whites, just as I had ordered. It was really yummy, very filling, and worth the wait, and the staff was really sweet. A lady manager even gave me a $10 gift certificate for my next visit, even though I told her it was not a problem. I came here wary of the potentially long wait during peak hours. So, I was prepared for the delay. I definitely recommend Flappy Jack's Pancake House, but come here expecting delays. read more

I came to this place because this was one of the places on Yelp that opens at 6 am and I was hungry. I wanted to get some breakfast before heading to the goldline on Citrus Ave and this was the closest restaurant and the only restaurant I found within close distance and that was open at 6 am. This is a five star review based on my dine in experience today (June 23,2017) based on several factors. (1) The servers and hostess were very friendly and bright and very cheerful (especially at 6 am in the morning, that is very refreshing). (2) They have a variety of options on the menu and this also includes gluten free food options and menu items. They have all American breakfast options, waffles, flap jacks, and also have lunch options as well and specials and features on the menu. (3) The Louisiana Polish Sausage and egg are served with toast and hashbrown and serving portion is very good and it's very good. Coffee is good here too. (4) The ambiance here is like the olden days of the diner where it's like a family oriented and welcoming place. I feel like I was in the 1950s diner, but welcoming. So it was my first time trying this place. The services were alright until the food came out. I order a trị-tip and I asked for pinkish and the services said sure. But when the food came out it was well done and we asked the server and she said we don't do pinkish/rare. I asked her, how come when I said pinkish/rare you said sure instead of letting us know in the beginning you guys don't do pinkish/rare. Then she said she will ask the chef to remake my tri-tip which took 45 minutes later to get. I came to Flappy Jacks not expecting much. Wow was I wrong. There plates are HUGE not to mention delicious. They did have a pretty extensive menu, but they have everything for everyone. I wasn't sure what to get considering I wasn't sure what they were famous for. My waitress, Rachel, was very knowledgeable and catered to what I was in the mood for. I ended up getting the flappy signature with some eggs and bacon. And I have to say, WOW, this place really didn't let me down.The flappy signture was almost like a big pastry filled with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas. With a little bit of syrup and lemon, it was heaven. The eggs were cooked perfectly (most places make them too runny), and the bacon was nice and crisp. The waitress was very nice, patient, attentive and kept my coffee full. The atmosphere was much like an old diner I used to attend back in the day, almost like everyone knew each other because of the small city. We recently visited Stacks on Route 66 for the first time, after a recommendation from a friend. Overall, the food was amazing! I had the Stacks Signature dish, which was delicious, while my husband opted for the Texas Skillet, the portion sizes were very big and we had food left over. However, our server forgot to bring the sourdough toast that we ordered, and we had to ask another server for it. While we did feel a bit forgotten by our waitress, it was a busy time, so we understood. On the downside, when we first arrived, we were greeted by what I assume was the manager. He was very rude to the people ahead of us putting their names down and he made us feel like an inconvenience. The hostess who seated us also didn't look very happy, and he rushed through the seating process, dropping the menus on the table and walking away so quickly that he almost bumped into another server. Disappointing Birthday Experience We chose Stacks on Route 66 to celebrate our son's 4th birthday because he loves pancakes and was so excited to try it for the first time. While the food was good and the service was fine, the experience fell short in a significant way. Despite our son enthusiastically telling the waitress it was his birthday, there was no acknowledgment or effort to make his day feel special. Initially, we assumed the restaurant simply didn't do anything for birthdays. However, as we were leaving, we saw an adult receiving a special birthday plate. Our son noticed this too and was heartbroken. To make it worse, everyone in our party, including our son, ordered full meals--no shared plates--so there was no apparent reason for him to be excluded. This is a good place to eat. The food is amazing and the customer service is great. I only had one issue which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The wait is usually long for this place so I had called to put my name down to reserve a table; an outside table specifically. I waited patiently but when we were called to be seated we were seated indoors. When I had brought this to their attention I was told that there weren't any outdoors available but I could wait until one was available if I wanted. My family was already seated and we had been waiting a decent amount so I decided to just stick with the indoor table. If I had not requested this when I had called to put my name down then I understand that tables will not be available. I do plan on revisiting soon! read more

I come to this restaurant often and for the past couple of times we've come in and we notice a declined in service. Today, we waited 20 minutes before the server came to our table. The restaurant was in full swing and you had very minimal staff running around. Past couple of times we been here we haven't gotten the customer serves we use to get. This place was always attentive, now the servers take your order and run to the next table. We often have to ask for silverware, syrup, sauce and "where are my pancakes". We come during the week to avoid the weekend wait but at this rate we might get faster service during the weekend. I love Stacks we been coming here since it was Flappy's not sure what the new owner's are doing but I'll have to take my business elsewhere. read more

This use to be my favorite local restaurant for breakfast until a few weeks ago. One of the new owner's Tiger was rude to us. I asked to sit somewhere else because where he wanted us to sit was too close to the table next us. It was a connecting booth and the other party was too close. Before sitting I asked if we could sit somewhere else and told Tiger I was willing to wait. He immediately gave us a bad attitude and told us that party was almost leaving which they didn't. He finally agreed and told us that now the other parties had to wait longer. He took us to another table and threw the menus on the table. He seemed to be having a bad morning and took it out on us. First time we visited Stacks and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. We where there for breakfast and the wait was not too long. he food was delicious and the portions were huge. There was this lady coming around checking to see if everything was OK and if we needed anything or missing something. We were missing some pancakes and she immediately brought them over. It was nice to see how she was talking to all the surrounding tables. When we finished eating, she came back around and asked if everything was to our liking. We were given only one plate. We were only charged for one, but because I was paying for four people and the total was already high, I didn't catch the mistake at checkout. Rather than make my 89-year-old father wait while everyone else ate, my mother split her plate with him. Then we realized they had prepared the eggs incorrectly. We ordered over-medium eggs specifically because my father loves the runny yolk. They served them over-well. He didn't realize the mistake until he had eaten much of the egg white and cut into the yolk. I told the server, and she initially said they would replace the eggs. Then she returned and told us they needed to TAKE THE HALF-EATEN EGGS BACK FROM HIS PLATE before they would give him the eggs we originally ordered. I was stunned. My father had already eaten much of the egg white. The remaining egg was sitting on top of the chilaquiles and beans he was eating. They wanted my 89-year-old father to remove the half-eaten remnants of their incorrectly prepared egg and hand them back before they would replace it with what we had ordered in the first place. I explained that the error was theirs, that we had not received what we ordered, and that my father had already eaten part of the egg before discovering the yolk was completely cooked through. The server still refused to replace the eggs unless we surrendered the half-eaten ones. What exactly were they planning to do with a partially eaten egg from a customer's plate other than throw it in the trash? That interaction was so petty, unsanitary-feeling, and inhospitable that it overshadowed the entire meal. The coffee didn't help. It was lukewarm and extremely bitter. Then there is the tipping system. You pay and are prompted for a tip before receiving your food or experiencing any service. We carried our own drinks to the table and got our own water. After the missing order, incorrectly prepared food, and argument over surrendering a half-eaten egg, I genuinely wondered what I had tipped for. Ringing up the order? Mistakes happen in restaurants. A missing plate or incorrectly cooked egg would not have prompted me to write this review. It was the way the mistake was handled. When your restaurant makes an error, replace the food. Don't argue with a customer over a half-eaten egg, especially while an 84-year-old woman is sharing her meal with her 89-year-old husband because his order was never placed (though requested). It was one fiasco after another. We will never return.
