Yes, the decor is very 70s-80s and it doesn't have anything really fancy, but everything is clean and it's overall kind of charming. The coffee was good and the menu had the classic breakfast fare you would expect from a diner. The pancake menu is the one unique point, they have a bunch of tempting dessert-y flavors that, while they may put you in a food coma, are a fun indulgence. The pancakes themselves are good, what else would you expect? Our food was served quickly and our server was great and refilled my coffee promptly. I went to Stacks based on other Yelp reviews and the fact that I was hungry for a local diner. I can only give 3 stars because I am completely neutral. Let me explain why. We were seated in a booth directly across from the front entrance. The front door has this strange air/fan thing above the door that comes on drastically every time the busy door is opened. Since it was one of our first cold days, this created a super cold blast of air repeatedly during our meal. It was completely miserable, but I expect that other areas may have been much more pleasant. I am watching my carbs and am diabetic. As a breakfast place, I had good options. However, I was disappointed that I could not substitute my toast for a single pancake so that I could try the house specialty. I also could not simply purchase one a la carte. The waitress only pointed me to the menu with full meals. I do realize I was asking for something different, but that's also why I was at a local diner where this type of service is generally acceptable. I was also willing to pay or to be upcharged, but I had no interest in a full separate meal. When I finally got my veggie omelette, it was yummy and a great size. However, I requested salsa, which was a standard offering. I was charged $2 extra for a 2 or container. Bottom line: the food was fine. I wish I could have tried other choices. Stacks was out of the way for me, so no real need for a return trip. read more

My pancakes were full of blueberries, fluffy and light, accompanied by a warm bottle of syrup. The sausage is juicy,, crispy sear on the outside and very plump. The scrambled eggs are good and I doused them liberally with Tabasco! My hubby said his biscuits were nice and soft, sausage gravy good too& Finally. A place with worthy enough to splurge on pancakes! The hot syrup is delightful. My wife had the short stack with a side of bacon and hash browns. Both meals were very good and a standard diner fare done very well. I was very impressed with the cook on the hash brown; crispy on the surface but soft on the inside. Most places overcook them but these were the star of the show. One item could be improved and that is the temperature of the milk. I ordered a glass of milk and it was just cool, almost room temp when it should be very cold. Such a cute little gem! I love diners like this, to find one here in Denton TX was so cool. The diner is designed really pleasantly, it's nice and cool temperature wise, the seating is adequately separated, with the minimalistic Americana diner decor. Music isn't too loud but loud enough you can hear it. The food was delicious but i would recommend going earlier so it is not as rushed. The waitress was super attentive and kind! My daughter and I were craving some pancakes, I found this place on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. We walked in around 12:15pm. There was a short line, and everyone was seated within 3 minutes... except us. The woman at the hostess stand told me she would clean a table for us and be right back. Well, I continued to stand there and wait another 15 minutes, she never came back. I counted 7 empty tables, so I was confused why we were still standing and waiting. An elderly couple walked in the door and a server immediately came right up and seated them right away. Then another server noticed us, came up and asked if we were still waiting to be seated and I said "yes". She walked us to a table and wiped it down and put our menus on the table, she told us our server would be with us shortly. 5 minutes later, our server came over and took our drink orders. She came back with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order, we told her just another minute we would be ready... Well, she literally never came back. Another server kept walking by our table and 15 minutes later, she finally realized we still hadn't ordered and said she would take over our table. She was nice and friendly. Our pancakes came out within 10 minutes. My daughters eggs and bacon were cold, but the pancakes were hot, fresh, and delicious. The syrup was also hot which was a nice touch. I really enjoyed the pancakes, they were thick, fluffy, and really tasted unique. The interior of the restaurant had a down-home country feel. I did feel it was a little unclean though. Our table was a little sticky, there were crumbs in my booth, and the floor was dirty. Overall, our second server was friendly and very prompt. We spent over an hour here, and 45 minutes of that was just waiting, which was frustrating when we were so hungry. I cannot recommend, but think you should try it out for yourself. We had been thinking about going here for a while and finally tried it out today. We didn't have to wait to be seated but we were a bit early (9 AM-ish), I'm not sure if they are busier later in the day. Their menu is quite large! They have a wide assortment of breakfast items as well as sandwiches and regular lunch dishes. As others have noted, the coffee doesn't taste particularly good. I don't expect much at a breakfast restaurant but I wish they would upgrade it to better-tasting coffee at the very least. I ordered the Stacks Benedict, two poached eggs with spinach, grilled tomato, avacodo on an English muffin. It was good, it was cooked perfectly and held together until you cut into it. I would have liked some additional seasoning it seemed like if some seasoning was added it would be a great dish. My wife had their crepes and really liked it. It looked good, I may have to try that next time. The service was outstanding, you really felt welcome and we never had to wait on refills or anything else. I liked the additional amount of banana slices served on top of the french toast. I did not like what tasted like caramel sauce drenched on top. It was not mentioned on the menu. The pancakes had a really delicious satisfying flavor & consistency. The bacon was superbly cooked and tasty. I also got hash browns on the side. The hash browns were good after adding some salt & pepper. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice, which was very appreciated since I wasn't drinking coffee today. I liked how the food didn't feel overly greasy like some breakfast spots. Server was very attentive and re-filled my friend's coffee three times without him needing to ask. So what happens when you have jury duty in Denton and you arrive much earlier than expected because traffic was light, the best thing I could think of was to have a great breakfast at Stack Pancake House. I did not plan on visiting here but had about an hour to have a nice breakfast. Stacks is a good old-fashioned breakfast spot with all the great egg and bacon dishes you would expect along with big fluffy buttermilk pancakes. When I arrived there was plenty of seating available. The local coffee crew had their table and I had the pick of all the rest. The wait staff got me set up with a menu and I placed my order within minutes. I ordered eggs, bacon and some pancakes. The meal was prepared quickly and I was enjoy a solid breakfast. I liked the pancakes a lot. They were fluffy and had great flavor, what doesn't with butter and syrup? The eggs were cooked to order and the bacon was crispy. The service was very nice throughout the meal checking on me several times. I was able to eat my breakfast and was on my way in about 40 minutes, perfect timing to make sure I was not late for jury duty. So if you find yourself heading to Denton, treat yourself to a little breakfast. read more

The food was great, however our waitress charged us for a side of hash browns and for getting a Nutella crepe with a combo without telling us there was an up charge. When we ordered she asked if we wanted these, so we assumed they were included, not that we'd be charged nearly $7 extra.
