Visiting family in Elk Grove decided to go to breakfast. It had been many years since I've been to this little locals restaurant. The place was busy for a Thursday morning yet we were seared right away in a booth. Placed our orders of biscuits and gravy, egg and bacon for husband and Southwest omelette for me with country fries. Our meals were deliver hot and tasty. I tried husband's biscuits which were very tasty, of course food off someone else's plate has no calories. Wait staff was efficient, although she did not offer a refill on coffee. The food tasted great, however, the worst customer service I've ever experienced in MY LIFE. Food took a while to come out (which I did not mind), however, our waitress never checked on us or refilled our drinks. I asked for the check and 3 boxes for my leftovers then handed her $100 since she already had the check with her. I waited over 15 minutes. Saw the same waitress giving checks and to go boxes to nearby customers that were asked after me. Our waitress refused to make eye contact with us. It was extremely awkward for no apparent reason. After some time, I asked another worker for 3 to go boxes instead. She appeared confused. She asked if we already paid, I said yes - I'm waiting for my change and it's been over 15 minutes. She came back after dropping the boxes for me to verify my order ticket, left and came back to give me my $27 change. Her body language appeared flustered and irritated and said some smart comment under her breath. She did not apologize for her or her coworker's behavior/attitude nor acknowledged the $27 tip I gave her for $70 worth of food. That's over 35% worth of tip that was not deserved. Instead, she went to the back, which was directly behind my table to gossip and said very inappropriate comments about me to her coworkers! I was shocked and appalled from all the rude comments she said about me. My family (even my 14 year old daughter) overheard it and was also shocked from the unprofessionalism. This occurred on May 2, 2026. The waitress and the other worker are both young females in their late teens or early twenties. As an ongoing customer for many years, this has never once happened to me. Employees here were always so kind and sweet; but not today. I always supported small family owned business and as a military veteran myself, I always respected that they have family members that also served (pictures of service members posted on their wall). I had high expectations having gone to their other location in South Sac, and was hyping up our visit to my family. While we were seated quickly, the service after that was slow and it was difficult to get a workers attention. It was a busy Saturday morning, and there was plenty of staff available so it was hard to understand why service was slow. We attempted to get someones attention for a coffee refill as they walked by without any luck. Our server was nice, but they also seemed to disappear for a bit. When our food came out it was slightly warm but not hot like you'd expect it. Flavors and portions were good, which was the upside to it all. This place has been around for years, and I've got to make a trip down to the Florin location. That's the one I associate most with Stagecoach, the OG. We went here and were seated promptly on a Saturday morning. We were asked for our drinks order immediately, which was nice. The booths were surprisingly small in size. We got our orders in, and then after that it took a surprising amount of time for things to reach the table. Both drinks and food took a while to reach us, something to definitely be noted if you're in a time crunch. Refills for drinks--for the bottomless coffees we ordered--were slow to arrive at first. They had to be flagged down by several tables, but then the traditional service of them coming table to table happened later on. In addition to the long time it took for food to reach us, the food itself didnt blow me away. Despite it taking a while, the food wasn't even hot. It was warm, at best. The flavor didn't blow me away; comparatively not as good to other breakfast places. Toast was buttered by default; a noted for those who prefer it plain. Came in on a Saturday morning after wanting to try this place for a while. The wait was only about 20 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. I ordered the 8 oz New York steak with two eggs and potatoes, plus a side of ham. I also had coffee and orange juice. The drinks were excellent -- the orange juice was fresh and delicious, the coffee was great, and they kept refilling it, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my meal came out cold. I asked our waiter, Kyle, if it could be warmed up since I didn't want to eat it cold. When the plate came back, it was no longer a New York steak but a sirloin, and it wasn't cooked medium-well as requested. At that point, I didn't feel like continuing to go back and forth, so I just let it be. Overall, the drinks were good and the staff was friendly, but I didn't enjoy my meal, which was disappointing. My husband had the #22 omlette with ground beef, spinach, mushroom & onion without the gravy. He was super disappointed because it was the first omlette he has had that didn't have cheese making it super dry. The filling was overpowered with beef. He couldn't even eat half of it. His hash browns were ok as was the sourdough. He did love the orange juice too and enjoyed the coffee. read more

On a Saturday morning, it can be busy and had a minor wait. The wait wasn't too bad about 10 mins. I had a great chorizo scramble with potatoes and wheat toast today for brunch with a girlfriend. The food was hot, fresh and flavored well. The server was nice and friendly and speedy with bringing items when requested. The ambiance is a typical diner and can be busy but clean and not too loud. Was craving some southern style brunch and paid a visit to Stagecoach! We were immediately seated and welcomed on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were attentive and friendly. My mom is vegetarian so we appreciated that they had menu options for her. We did have to check in on our dishes a couple times (seemed like the staff forgot about a few things) but they were corrected quickly. The food was good but not great. The water (or maybe it was the ice) tasted a bit off. The grits tasted like the water so they tasted off as well. Its been a while since we've been here but it won't be long until we come back! Food was delicious! Coffee hit the spot on a early Sunday morning. The hostess was so nice and full of positive energy. My wife commented several times how awesome she thought the hostess was. Our server was a very tall young man. I forget his name but he did a great job. I visited this Stagecoach Restaurant back in April of 2022. I was going through old pics on my phone and realized I never wrote a review for this place, so here it is! This is one of those mom and pop breakfast/brunch kinds of places. It has been here for a while, as the decor is dated, but it gives the place that old timer charm. The service we received was very good. The food is very filling. They don't give you skimpy portions here, so if that's what you're looking for, go to a fast food place. You really get your money's worth when you come here. The Crab Benedict was reeeeally good, and so were the Blueberry Muffins. Their omelettes don't miss, either. They are stuffed, and the shrimp isn't puny, either. I really don't think you could go wrong here. Prices are good for what you are getting. Parking is not a problem. I would venture back here again if I'm in the area and need a hearty brekkie to start my day! read more

The food is yummy and I can tell the staff works hard but we did have to wait quite a bit longer for giving our order or getting the check because it was busy. First and definitely the last time coming here. My husband and I came here for breakfast. We were immediately seated, but took some time to get a waitress to take our order. I noticed a lot of regular old folks come here because the waitresses were talking to them by their 1st name. I also noticed that they would just chat and chat and ignore the other customers. After finally having the waitress finish her chat with some of the other customers, she came and took our order. Food came quick. Nothing special. After our meal, it was impossible to get service. These waitresses kept chatting up with the old folks just to receive tips from talking. What was shocking was one of the actual customers, who was eating, saw us asking for help and got up to get the waitresses attention. He asked us what we needed!! Seriously?!?! This man was sitting, having his breakfast, and he has to ask the waitress to come help us. Will never come here again. Terrible service. Get your shit together and do your job. read more

Although they are very good. I am a vegetarian and they have a few good suggestions but how do you "call to order" if they don't answer their phone, that is what's frustrating about this Resturant. No message to call another time or they close their phones early - just a message saying their voicemail is full so It would be nice if they updated their voicemail or their hours. Recently visited Elk Grove and wanted to go out for breakfast and finally chose The Stagecoach and was VERY happy! Large portions and full flavors. The 1st day I ordered Chicken Fried Steak. The steak covered my plate. They brought my hash browns and biscuit on a separate plate. I have to say I was nervous at my 1st bite. All I got was breading but as I worked my way through I got to a tender steak w/crisp coating and covered in a nicely peppered gravy. The hash browns were crisp and potatoey, yeah I know that's not a word, and they were nicely seasoned. The biscuit was light and fluffy and was wonderful. The next day I woke up and was craving the Corned Beef hash I didn't order the day before so I loaded up my mom and my buddy whose house we were staying at and dragged them back to the Stagecoach. I got the Corned Beef hash and was thrilled! Obviously it was made in house. Ground up but some small chunks remained, the flavor was salty and a little fatty and just what I was looking for. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Reasonable prices. Good service, although our waitress the 2nd day spent a lot of time chatting w/a regular while my water went unfilled and she never checked in on us after the food was dropped but it didn't matter because other than the water we didn't need anything. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have been raving about this place for a long time. Well, we finally met them there for breakfast. The biscuits are really good. My wife had an omelette, she said it was good and I can vouch that it was huge. I had the sausage scramble, it was ok. Service was fairly good, my coffee cup went dry a number of times though, which really shouldn't happen, especially several times. The place is decorated nicely, one might describe it as "Americana." Some older furniture and quite a bit of nostalgic pieces and memorabilia. I certainly won't avoid the place. I won't rush back, either. I've been trying to find a place where I can get chicken tenders that are not overcooked. The service is good, everyone has seemed nice.
