We have been going here for years and we always go for Christmas Eve. This particular year was fine but honestly has been going down hill over the past few years. Place always use to be packed but now it's easy to get a table with service lacking. Decor is starting to become run down. The booth we were seated in right next to the kitchen was torn separating between which made seating interesting. My daughter asked for a cold latte and it came out hot and my son's soda never came even after asking about it. The breakfast eggs rolls use to be our favorite with the gravy but they must have went to a different frozen supplier or they haven't cleaned the grease because they were over cooked, soaked with grease and inedible with I am guessing was ranch because it definitely wasn't sausage gravy but something ice cold, watery and flavorless. All the other food was ok except for my croissant sandwich which had a rock hard croissant, my guess happened when it goes from frozen into the microwave to a rock hard piece of sausage that I couldn't cut. I think since they started expanding the overall restaurant started its downfall.

Food was great. Really good service. Had the pancakes and breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. One odd fact. We absolutely heard someone having sex in the back. Wasn't our server and wasn't the cook as we had eyes on them the entire time. Noises were coming from a back area and were definitely loud. Shortly after, a female in her Stax uniform appeared and looked a little disheveled. Good for her!

    Cinnamon Roll Stak- delicious

I ordered the cinnamon stak pancakes which was a LOT for me by myself but oh my it was so delicious. I also ordered a French vanilla latte with almond milk it was messy but so good. My waitress was very nice and was always checking on me. It's a cute, relaxing place. My only complaint is that I smelled like the food when I left the restaurant.

Great food and clean. Service was good also. I had the taco trio and it was fantastic.

The food and service was good! Outdoor sitting was good as well! Came here for my birthday .

    Cold pancake and overcharged

I was extremely disappointed today. Stak's has one of my favorite coffees the cafe brûlée and it came with no brûlée- no foam or caramelized sugar. I asked what about the sugar and she said she sprinkled it on top. Then I ordered 2 scrambled eggs and 1 pancake (which was supposed to be $2 on Tuesdays, today is 12/30). The pancake was cold, literally the butter wouldn't melt. My eggs were luke warm at best. When the server, Mullin G, returned I said the pancake was cold. She said she could heat it up. I said no thanks can you just take it off and she said that wasn't possible once the food hits the table. I've never heard this before.. I decided to take it home where I could warm it myself. When we got the bill was charged $3 for the pancake. Not worth arguing about a $1. Just very disappointed. Worst experience I've ever had here. It'll be awhile before I come back

Really enjoyed the diner feel of Staks and the service was on point. The servers and hostess were very attentive and followed up with status on orders to ensure we knew what was going on. The cinnamon roll latte was the best latte I have ever had! It tastes just like a cinnamon roll from Cinnabon. The breakfast burger was a lot of food, but very satisfying.

My family and I went here on May 11th, 2024. The restaurant was very busy when we got there, so we had to wait a little bit on the wait list. Once we was notified that it was our turn to be serve the hotress told us what our table number was, and we went to the counter to order our foods. When we sat down and waited for our foods I just noticed how beautiful and clean the restaurant is. I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes and Candied Bacon. It was my first time trying Candied Bacon and I was so surprised how good the brown sugar goes with the bacon. The Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes was just freaking amazing. It will remind you of eating a regular strawberry shortcake.

The Menu needs to have more information on what's in the food. I got the protein pancakes and they had NO flavor at all and were way too over priced didn't come with a side and I spent 31 dollars on something I didn't like. I work in food I'm definitely not one to complain about the food but not taking it back was something I didn't understand! And still adding 18% gratuity topped it!

Went to Germantown this morning to have breakfast. Good choice. Had a party of 10 and the restaurant accommodated all of us with no issues. We arrived around 8:30 am. We ordered a variety of awesome food. When first entering we were greeted by a young lady that was very friendly and helpful. She explained the protocol-decide on what you would like to order for food and beverage, purchase your items and have a seat. The servers would find your number on the table and proceed to bring your food to the table when it was finished cooking. Service was fast and efficient. Everyone was nice and helpful. I had the breakfast burrito. It was filled with eggs, chiorzo, peppers, salsa, cheese, and wrapped in a tomato basil tortilla. It was quite yummy. My table mates had a variety of pancakes that we all tasted. We had the lemon ricotta, banana pudding, white chocolate espresso peppermint, cinnamon roll, gluten free sweet potato, and buttermilk. All the food was tasty. My niece had the Egg White platter and that looked pretty delicious as well. Coffee was good and strong. Parking is easy to access and the ordering process is seamless and courteous. The decor is very modern with a clean and bright look. The place has a sunny vibe to it. Will be back again to get a breakfast fix. Great place to eat.

    Waitlist on their website
    James D.

Set an expectation based on the website which they immediately FAIL to meet upon arrival. We checked the waitlist online because we like the food here, but we're in a hurry. It shows a Zero min wait, Tables Available Now. Well when we arrived they told us there was a 20+ minute wait. So I asked if this just happened because the website says 0min. I was told: "Oh yea. That's not right. It's based on an iPad system that we don't use". What a FAIL! Expectations Set and Not Met.

Excellent food presentation style. Ambiance is bright teal reminisce of 70s Cafe. The pancakes are phenomenal light and fluffy. The raspberry coconut latte is sweet . If you do not like coconut don't even think about ordering. The servers were very responsive and corrected a order without hiccup. The

Overall good takeout experience. Food was ready when expected and was delicious. Only negative was the oatmeal (bland and runny).

The Toasted Yolk gave us a little bit of everything--some hits, some misses, and one bartender who…read moremay have found a new calling. Avocado Toast Let's start with what should be one of the easiest breakfast items on any menu. Avocado toast doesn't need much--fresh avocado, a squeeze of lemon or lime, cracked pepper, sea salt, roasted tomatoes, cilantro, and a little love. Unfortunately, mine arrived with chunky raw onions, a few tomatoes, and not much else. The bright flavors that make avocado toast shine were missing. The sourdough bread, however, was perfectly toasted and had a great texture. Eggs Both dishes were ordered with eggs cooked over hard. Both arrived over easy. That's a simple request that should have been easy to execute. Salmon Benedict Presentation was nice, but the seasoning department apparently took the morning off. Salmon naturally has great flavor, but it still needs something. A squeeze of lemon, a touch of cracked pepper, sea salt, fresh herbs--anything. The salmon was bland, and the hash brown casserole followed the same theme. Breakfast Potatoes We ordered potatoes with grilled onions and received potatoes topped with the same chunky raw onions that appeared on the avocado toast. Not exactly what was expected. Now for the stars of the show... the drinks. The Mimosa was delicious, refreshing, and exactly what brunch should be. The Sidecar deserves special recognition. When the bartender admitted they had to Google how to make it, I became a little nervous. Turns out I had no reason to be. That Sidecar was fantastic and easily the best thing that hit our table all morning. Whoever made it absolutely knocked it out of the park. Final Verdict The Toasted Yolk has potential, but the kitchen needs to become friends with seasoning. The ingredients were there; the flavor was not. A few simple additions--lemon, pepper, salt, herbs, and attention to cooking eggs correctly--would have dramatically improved the experience. Will I return? Yes. The drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant, and there's enough on the menu to give it another chance. Next visit, I'll be ordering something different and hoping the kitchen brings a little more flavor to the table.

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

When we first pulled up, the line was out the door, so we knew it was good. We waited maybe about 15 minutes, and then we were let inside where we placed our order at the countertop. The menu is pretty big, so there were lots of options to pick from. I got the rooster, a fried chicken sandwich, and others got the kitchen sink plate with a Bloody Mary. After you placed your order, you found an open table. All of the tables were clean and accessible. I loved the vibe! Very up beat breakfast theme. Soon after we got a table, our food arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious! We all basically licked our plates clean lol. After they drop off your food, there is no 'service' so you do have to get everything yourself.
