The food is always pretty good except for the wings which hardly had any meat on them. My two biggest issues are the prices and the service from the bar staff. The regular wait staff is great but the bar staff is slow even when there is only 5 people. You have to ask for refills, ask for napkins, it's just bad. Been here twice. Good both times. Friendly staff and friendly regulars. Good atmosphere. Lots of draft beer selections, good daily food, happy hour food and drink specials. Used to be the place to go for sports, good bar food and a beer. Now I don't even know what the place is. I don't think they know. Food? No thanks, it's like a diner chef trying to make "that there fancy stuff". All over priced. They are by far NOT the best ribs... actually some of the worst I've had recently. All the bartenders are "lifers" so if they don't know you... don't expect much from them. If you're a family, the sports guys will offend your kids with language during the games. Now with much better places opening up around them, they've tried their hand at serving micro brews. The place is just a hole anymore... forget the old stanleys, its not there. Our last visit was awful. Sat in the "Saloon" and poor service from the woman who always is more interested in the game than your order. Wings were ok, but not worth thr price. Had a rubber chicken sandwich that tasted like it was soaking in water before they slapped some canned topping on it. My date's burger was sent back and came out worse than before. Our other companion waited another 15 minutes for his food which was some pasta (i think) which had crunchy parts in it? Seriously, stop dragging the memories down. Close the place and rework it. We went there for lunch for the first time September 2013 on a Monday, didn't want to commit to dinner on our first visit. There are smoking benches immediately at the entrance, not a good thing, the place has rugs and you can immediately smell a musty funk upon entering. The food is mediocre, the service is slow and the salad bar at Acme is alot better than this joint, waited 15 minutes to get my salad as there was a lady replenishing the salad bar and moved as fast as molasses, wtf. My husband had an average roast beef, french onion soup (was not hot) and I had the dreadful salad. I gather the bar area may be a better bet for beer on football Sundays. I gave them two stars because they had my favorite beer. However, it took a half hour to receive it on a not so busy Saturday night. I placed an order,but after taking a half hour to get a beer I asked for the check before eating. Lazy servers and a cramped atmosphere make this place a big miss. read more

First time Sunday diner! Heard a lot of good things about their ribs and it was very true! Ribs were delicious off the bone finger licking good! Norman our waiter was great! i've only lived in Delaware for a couple of years and the 1st place I checked out was Stanleys Tavern. I just happened to buy a house right around the corner. I was pleasantly suprised in the begining and I have been a loyal fan of Stanleys for several years now until recently. I don't know whats changed but their food quality has really gone down hill and not just a little but it's ridiculous. I keep going back hoping something will change but i can tell you if it doesn't change soon I am one frequent customer that will not be going back. Last night we ordered an app and it was embarrassing to see what they served. The cheese sticks were mush the wings were nothing but bones and the cheese in the potato skins looked like plastic. Please bring back the quality Stanleys was once known for! read more

Every time I dine at this place I always ask myself why I keep coming back. The bartenders are rude and take forever, you would think the opposite because the actual bar is the size of my bathroom. The food is okay, we used to love the Stanley's Original but the last few times we have had to send it back. They need to get rid of the old head bartenders that are behind the bar because that is what is killing their business. They look at you like you have 10 heads when you order something other than a bottled beer. They are always eating behind the bar and approach you with a full mouth. Also the manager who has little man syndrome needs to realize that he is representing a company and should put forth more effort in making sure all guests are okay. Instead he would rather talk about how "weed" needs to be legalized and can't wait to start his own "growing" business. Def not something I would want my kids to hear when I bring them there. I have been going to Stanley's for my entire life, in the past two years I have noticed the place going downhill. It has been well know as the hotspot to watch a game or take the family out to dinner. I have been getting the same Ahi tuna dinner there for the past couple years every time I go. I went their recently and they took it off the menu due to "raised tuna costs", I looked through the menu and they really have nothing that stands out, all the options are very plain generic items. They also seem to never have a consistent staff, when I went in there recently I did not recognize anyone from the last time I ate there. I got the salmon with fries, it said that the salmon was seasoned and garnished. My plate came out with just a slab of seared salmon with nothing on it and fries, the presentation was horrible and the salmon was bland, not bad but not good enough to get again. The service was fine, but like I said I could tell that my server was new, and he/she was trying a little bit to hard to be courteous, it was a little overbearing. Stanley's is not what it use to be, I use to eat here at least 20 times a year with my family or large parties of friends. I am done eating here, it was great while it lasted. read more

Happy hour bar in the back: The older bartender lady is really nice, BUT!! It's time for her to hang it up, she is the slowest bartender, makes you wait time and time again just to get served. My friends and I have actually stopped coming here because she's usually working the happy hour bar and very painful waiting 5-10 min to get served. She's very nice but gets to distracted and can't remember, it's time to either let her go or get additional help when she's working. Sad to see this place lose customers over such very bad service. read more
