The guy at the registered was so patient in trying to help me figure it out. I felt bad, because I ordered 4 donuts, and they were waiting to be devoured by a hungry teenager. I made several attempts to use the Apple Pay, and it would not go through. I wanted to be the hero in this situation because my daughter was depending on me at this time, but Kyle became the hero. I REALLY wanted to like this place, the store is super-cute and I just live up the street. Unfortunately, while the service is GREAT, the product is not. To me the donuts are WAY too heavy, I mean we are talking lead here. I've tried several, just in case-- They all either had a strong artificial flavor, or no flavor at all. The price is a bit much also. I will gladly pay premium prices for a premium product, but this is not the case with Stan's. $8 for two donuts and milk. I miss Glazed and Infused! read more

In our uncertain times I take a solace in the gourmet donut places overtaken our various cities. I got an orange glazed donut. Which sounds funny but it was a very tasty donut. Sweet, flaky, the right amount of dryness/moistness ratio. It used to be people would ball at paying four bucks for one coffee or six dollars for one pint of beer. Spent an afternoon working here, and had a Stan's donut for the first time. I really enjoyed my time at this location. Chill and not crowded (Thursday). The server was very friendly. And I love their coffee (I've had Stan's coffee many times before.) I got the old fashioned pistachio. It was very good! Although, unlucky for Stan's, I think Firecakes still remains the best donut place in Chicago (if not the world). Stan's has a very positive reputation, and from my experiences here, it's well-deserved! The staff are awesome. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. The coffee is delicious - I'm not sure where they get their beans, but they should keep doing it. And they make all the floofy coffee drinks too. But the obvious star are the donuts. I'm a donut connoisseur, you see. I've had some really killer donuts in (ah, Granny's in Bozeman, MT), and Stan's is right up there. You would say, "I stan _____" instead of I "I love that [thing]." What's not to love? Absurdly large donuts made fresh on the daily with ingredients to make you roll your eyes back in pleasure - either glazed, powdered, plain cake, or stuffed full of delicious cream or jam. It's one of the absolute best donut experiences I've ever had. Add to it a draft latte from La Colombe and you're in caffeinated, sugared heaven. For instance, their donut of the day on my first visit was the Captain Crunch Bismark. It's filled with homemade vanilla custard and pulverized Captain Crunch Cereal. I mean...come on! It was even better than it sounds. It's easy to drop a lot of dough (see what I did there?) when you go to Stan's. But my god, it's worth every penny. read more

I have finally tried every donut shop in Chicago and I can officially say these are my favorite donuts. I love their huge selection and creative flavors. My absolute favorite donut was the biscoff and banana filled. The flavor combinations went so well together and who doesn't love biscoff?? The dough was so flakey and soft, it was the absolute perfect donut. I can't wait to come back and order just a dozen of these alone. The Nutella and banana filled donut was equally as good. The blueberry cheesecake filled donut was a close second to these donuts. It had a little more subtle flavors but the cheesecake and blueberry jam was a perfect combination. A big surprise was how good the new pretzel donut was. It isn't as pretty as the other donuts, but it had such a wonderful and unique flavor. It was a perfect balance between a donut and a pretzel and the flavors grew on me with each bite. It was similar to Auntie Anne's cinnamon pretzel but better in my opinion with a vanilla glaze rather than cinnamon covering. The lemon expresso bismark was also a unique and flavorful donut. Although I don't enjoy lemon flavors in general, I still liked this donut and my sister absolutely adored it. The Le Stan apple croissant donut was absolutely delicious as well. The flakey croissant layers and the apple filling were heavenly. The glazed yeast donuts we tried, like vanilla, pistachio, and regular glazed were okay. The dough was soft and the glazes were average. The strawberry bismark was probably my least favorite because the jelly tasted like it was out of a jar and I've definitely had better jelly-filled donuts from doughnut vault or firecakes. They definitely shine the most with their dough boy's best donuts, which are those biscoff/nutella/etc. filled donuts. I also decided to try one of their ice cream sandwiches and did not enjoy it. Today is Fat Tuesday. Stan's has paczkis therefore deserves a good review. We happened upon Stan's after shopping at Trader Joes across the street. They have an amazing selection of upscale donuts, it was hard to make a decision. I went with one of their seasonal specials, the Peppermint Bark Old Fashioned. It was a great choice. My sons enjoyed their Chocolate Pockets with Nutella. My youngest son had to take a break from eating his because it was so rich. We brought back a Maple Bacon Pecan for my husband, and he thought it was one of the best donuts he's ever eaten. Each donut is unique and AMAZING in every way!! I was lucky enough to drop by on a night where half a dozen donuts were only $10!!! How could I pass this up? So I bought dozen of them! It was my first time at Stans so I basically picked one of each flavor. The all around favorite has to be the Pistachio Lemon Old fashion donut! It's so light I could eat like 5 of these and not get sick of them. The Toffee one with the chocolate drizzle is really delicious!! Chocolate Truffle donut is incredibly rich, dense, and heavy in chocolate-y goodness. The Coconut one has nice coconut hints with the shreds on top. The Cinnamon Roll one was really big and I struggled to finish that one but I enjoyed that journey. Between the Apple Fritter and the Blueberry fritter, Blueberry hands down!! The Strawberry Bismark was so full of strawberry goodness, great for any berry lover! Even the plain glazed ones are just so good! At the intersection of Diversey, Clark, and Broadway, this location gets a strong mix of clientele. There is a wide array of donuts available that typically come in one of three varieties: 1) classic (think Dunk's), 2) old fashioned (classic glaze but a more fritter/fried texture), and 3) stuffed (think Boston Creme with more eccentric ingredients/names like a chocolate covered pocket stuffed with peanut butter & banana). The flavours that I've had are definitely on the delicious end of the spectrum as far as donuts go. The staff was friendly and prompt in service. We went on a Saturday and they were having a special on glazed old fashioned donuts for $0.87 in honor of Stan's 87th birthday. We first got the chocolate old fashioned and a candied bacon caramel pecan bar, then seeing that glazed donuts were on special we added one of the those to the order. The chocolate old fashioned was delicious! The chocolate was dark and tasted pure, the candied bacon caramel pecan bar was unique and fun to try. But the donut that took the cake (near pun intended) was the glazed old fashioned. It came out warm and fresh and literally melted in your mouth. It was not your typical donut. We had been greatly anticipating the opening of Stans for quite some time. Who doesn't want an awesome donut place within walking distance of where they live!? We've stopped in A few times already, but today was the first day in ate our donuts in the shop. Usually we just take them home to enjoy because the tables are full. Most of the time there's a small line, but it moves pretty fast. Our favorite donut so far is the biscoff pocket. The employee gave me 1 chive, I asked for 2 more. He rudely said, "I already put one the bag, you want another one now?" Well, I wouldn't have had to ask if your staff didn't mess up the first time! Today, I made the great life decision of trying Stan's for the first time. I arrived 15 minutes after they opened (early, but so worth it). The employees were super friendly and the doughnuts were unbelievably fresh/delicious. The peppermint old fashioned was very chocolatey and yummy. However, my favorite was a tie between the biscoff pocket and apple fritter. The biscoff pocket has an AMAZING flavor, both the dough and the filling.
