We have two daughters that wear glasses. We came to this location and from the beginning we've never had any issues at all . Everyone is very friendly and helpful at the Grossmont location. Alex has been the person I have ran into several times for help and he is so helpful. My daughter broke her glasses and when I went in I expected the worse . But Alex was able to fix them . He was very straight forward and honest. Didn't beat around the bush about fixing them . He would let me know if they were fixable or not (Which they were). Alex has the best customer service . First let me say this is truly the best experience I have EVER had getting glasses! I had some issues at another location with them giving me false information and instead of La Mesa saying, we are sorry we can't help you, they jumped through hoops to help me. When I went in to have my eye exam, I knew my eyes have gotten worse but wasn't sure how much worse they had gotten. I had them do my prescription for distance because that is the only prescription I've ever had to have. I ordered three pairs of glasses and when I came to pick them up and realized everything in front of me was blurry (Jays name tag lol) Dr. Vinh Is by far the coolest Dr I have ever seen for my eyes. I ended up having to go to progressive's and was so afraid to do so. Dr. Vihn Spent a lot of time explaining to me how they worked some of the things to expect, and told me to give them a try. I love them!!!!!! The customer service and over the top help didn't end with Dr. Vinh. Hillary and Daisy, two of the managers went above and beyond to help me with the pricing of my glasses due to bad customer service and bad information from another location. The highlight of my visits were having Jay, (Manager in training) Go over everything with me. From explaining my prescription, to the possibility of thickness in my lenses , To dealing with me not being able to take the first three pairs, to sending me back to Dr. Vihn to discuss progressives, To reiterating what Dr. Vihn said about things to expect in the adjustment period, to not taking a lunch hour until after 3 o'clock because I took so much time, Jay was AMAZING! I needed a minor repair on a pair of glasses--attach a temple using a microscopic screw. Since Stanton Optical is close to my home, I called to see if they could perform the repair. I made it clear that I was not a customer of theirs, but they set me an appointment anyway. When I arrived, the agent made the repair right at the front desk. And when I offered to pay for the repair, he declined. Stanton Optical had every right either to decline a repair to a pair of glasses they didn't sell, or to charge at least a nominal fee for the repair. That they did neither speaks well to their customer service orientation! read more

I am absolutely amazed at the reviews for this place! My first appointment was in January. After I sat there listening to the coworkers gossip about a fellow coworker and her baby daddy, I was seen by an eye doctor via online. Not even an actual doctor in the store. I ordered my contacts and was informed because my eyes were two different prescriptions (as expected for the last 40 years), I'd get two different texts to pick up, don't come in for pick up until I get both texts. After waiting an additional two weeks for the second text, I stopped by. There were two boxes waiting for me with the exact same prescription for both eyes. I told them it wasn't right. They argued with me that it was the correct prescription and that I needed to give them a try. So, I wore them for a day. I couldn't read anything. Driving was fine but couldn't read my phone, a store receipt, nothing. Returned to Stanton Optical. Told them of my issue. They said I'd need to see the doctor in the store. This time, an actual human being! She was nice. She did my second exam. She told me they only did contacts for distance for me. I asked why would they do that? She said they probably assumed I'd use reading glasses if I needed to read. Really? I want to see in all situations or why would I even bother?? Put on reading glasses every time I needed to read a text? Anyway, they put in contacts for me that one was for near and one was for far. They said my brain would figure it out but it would take a few weeks. Told me to return for my new order when my eyes adjusted. Said they'd exchange the $250 worth of contacts for the new prescription. So, with old contacts in hand, one month later, I went to exchange for my new prescription. To my surprise, they had no record of the second appointment or prescription. Told me I'd need to see the doctor again! A third time, they wanted me to sit in a chair and be examined! Needless to say, I was pretty upset! I sat waiting to see the doctor again but decided I was not going to ever return to Stanton Optical! I asked for the corporate number. Told them I was going to get my money back. Fortunately, they did find that receipt and returned my money immediately. Unfortunately, they could not return all the time and energy I wasted with this place! Buyer Beware! read more

I think this place is totally misleading in their adds. The eye exam is NOT free. They ask for $45.00 up front, "in case you dont buy glasses". The selection for free frames is about 8-10 out of hundreds. And then we were told it does not include the lenses. $160.00 later we got 2 pair of very cheap glasses with substandard frames. All I can hope for is that the perscription is correct. After reading other Yelp reviews, Something I should have done 1st. I see that getting your prescription correct doesn't always happen. They mislead you to get you in there then the "salesmen" upsell you. Stick to Walmart. read more

Now that I have had the doubtful joy of visiting their store in person, I can inform you that their in person service is just as deplorable as their phone support. I can tell you guys that sometimes LISTENING to the customer can get you much farther rather than talking over a customer and or discounting what a customer says. Had their associate and their supervisor taken the time to shut their mouths long enough we could have gotten my visit over sooner rather than later. As it stands it appears the men that provide support here are incapable of doing that and providing any real support. They would much rather hear themselves talk. I went in to pickup my order, Eventually got an email response yesterday stating that the product was ready after all for pick up. Was unable to go pick up said item as I was experiencing severe medical issues that rendered me incapable of driving. As such I came in this afternoon to pick up items. Initial associate asked me for name that order was under. I let him know that my order information was messed up and that he might have better luck searching with an order number. I provided order number, he could not locate anything. I gave him my phone number, nothing came up. He then asked who the glasses were for, as I was answering and letting him know they were for my daughter BUT due to issues in their own system the order was not paired to my information correctly, he decided to cut me off, cop an attitude and tell me that since the prescription is under my daughters name it would be found under her name. Mansplaining at its finest. Had to stop him to let him know that NO, actually the order was placed under MY NAME and at no point did their system ever request my daughters information. HE got frustrated and called over a manager. Also a complete aHole. Manager comes over and instead of asking me anything , goes to the rep who was unable to find anything, I tell them that they might have a better chance if they review the escalation email that I received yesterday. Manager now cuts me off as well as he enters his mansplaining mode. In the middle of his rant another associates hears whats going on and immediately knows who the order is related to. He pulls up the product (not under my daughter name)a and hands it to manager. instead of handing me the product the manager decides this is a good time to continue to run his mouth about the situation rather than hand me the glasses. I pointedly asked him for the glasses as I wanted to exit their establishment ASAP. He handed them to me, I walked away, HE CONTINUES TO YELL at me as I am walking away ABOUT HOW HE WILL DO WHATEVER HE CAN TO HELP ME AND PROVIDE SUPPORT. I yell back that this is highly doubtful. What was the point of all that from him? At the end of the day my kid has her glasses which is great. I am very thankful for the random associate who was aware of the situation. Save yourself the headache and stay away from Stanton optical or at the very least thislocation! read more

Alex Sanchez is a MACHISTA! Terrible service to be a manager. I tried to get my glasses fix because they broke as soon as I tried them on. Per him I broke them accusing me like he was there when it happened. He said "I'm sorry but they just didn't exploded in your face" in a sarcastic way. We got in an argument because I made an appointment to fix my glasses and get a new prescription since the glasses make me dizzy. And there were no Doctor to help me so I was confused because I made an appointment for that. He was moving his head in a sassy way like I'm stupid when he questioned me about my current glasses. He had an attitude since the beginning. But I didn't see he treated the lady before me or the other man the way he talked to me. I caught an attitude too because he started to pissed me off when he was treating me like if I'm stupid. I had a great experience here with the staff that helped me before him on my first appointment. I'm sorry I'm doing this terrible review but he deserves it. Alex made our visit extremely pleasant. She was efficient, courteous, pleasant and helpful. She had just the right note of humour during the physical part of the exam. Clearly she is adept at customer service and brought ease to choosing frames and making decisions. She even went the "extra mile" and worked past store closing without a peep to us! Then he worked with me on pice so i felt like what I got was definitely worth it. Came back in for pick up, got a clear voicemail in the morning letting me know my glasses were in. What a great experience. My first time ever purchasing glasses anywhere other than my optometrist and all I can say is WOW. Walking in I was instantly greeted by some of the staff. They made sure to ask if I needed any assistance without being pushy (a major plus to me when it comes to shopping). After finding a few frames that I really liked, I realized I left my lense RX at home! Luckily the manager,Tiffany, told me i could get a free eye exam if I was going to purchase the frames so she set me up with Nina who did my pre-rest before having me sit with Dr. Vinh. Dr Vinh is a very friendly and efficient person, he had my eyes checked within 10 minutes! The best part about all of this besides the great service is that your glasses are made on the spot! This is my second time to Stanton my first time was a little rough this time they lost my glasses that I brought in to have replaced and said I was going to get a refund since they lost my glasses. They then left me for 2 1/2 weeks without being able to see it work. They told me they would call me as soon as they were in. They didn't. I called yesterday and they told me that my glasses have been ready since yesterday and they closed in 20 minutes and they were closed on Sunday and no answer as to why nobody bothered to tell me they were in. I am absolutely furious and frustrated that they would leave me without any way to see knowing that I work on three computer monitors at work and no apologies as to why nobody bothered to call me when I could've picked them up and they're still trying to charge me the entire fee. Like I said don't go here unless you're looking for disappointment I was willing to make my review a little more positive after today's visit. But the manager Alex was condescending and rude and did nothing let me explain. Actually refused to speak to me anymore. The only bright point: Female Alex and Elise are wonderful employees and treated me well on all visits. I hope they are treated better than I was my their manager. But now I will never go back. If I could give this company NO STARS I would. They don't deserve a single star. I purchased 5 pairs of glasses in 2 years from Stanton. They break very easily. My last 2 pairs of glasses broke within 9 months so I took them back to the store to ask for repair. One pair the Manager was able to put my lenses in a similar pair of readers and I was pleased. The second pair, the lens had popped out and had cracked. The technician was going to pop the lens back in and off I would go. Unfortunately the tech broke the glasses while attempting to reset the lens. The manager told me that she would send them out and get them replaced. 4 weeks have passed and although I know we are in the midst of COVID19 quarantining and Civil unrest due to the murders of George Floyd and other unarmed black people, the least I could get is an estimated time of completion from either the store or customer service. The automated customer service application did not find a pending order using my phone number and then it hung up on me. I called back and I wanted to speak to the store. I don't recall the guy's name that answered but he began to tell me that usually when the phone bounces to him they are busy at the store. I told him I went through their automated phone system and thought that I was speaking to the store. He placed me on hold and then he hung up on me. I called back and attempted to contact the store again. This time Pablo answered and said "have you just gotten up and went to the store yourself?". I said well that is the wrong approach. Why would I make an unnecessary trip to the store if my order....and HE HUNG UP ON ME! Then I called back and I got Sherry. I asked to speak to her manager. She said she would take a message and the manager would get back to me in 24-72 hours. I asked her which manager. She said the manager of the store. I told her great now can I be transferred to HER manager - the call center manager, she said she didn't have a manager. She said she didn't have a boss and then SHE HUNG UP ON ME! I don't know if my glasses have been sent anywhere. I am a high risk person so I try not to venture out unless I am going to places where I am getting certain things or seeing certain people - mostly picking up medicine or seeing doctors. Stanton Optical is INCOMPETENT! Their customer service is LOUSY and every one of the people that answered my call should be fired. When I get my glasses repaired, I promise to never buy another pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses from this company again, and I promise to warn my friends and family about this horrible company. read more

Avoid these crooks. I was in need of glasses. I went there because of the 2 for $59 advertisement on the window. I don't have insurance. Buy 1 Get 1 free. Bahahaha. The exam was free. I paid $149 for frames. I have prescription sunglasses as well. Paid for those got regular lenses for free (HAHA). $129 value.$369 for lenses. $129 for some fee I didn't understand. I ended up paying over $700 for glasses. After a few days the glasses were bad. I couldn't see well with them. I returned them and had a new exam. The doctor there told me I need to see an ophthalmologist because he suspected diabetic retinopathy. And refused to give me a new prescription.It would have cost me about $1000 to see him. I went to another doctor and got a Prescription for progressive lenses, no sign of any complications.However the prescription he gave me was a little stronger. I took it back to stanton since I had already dropped $700 The girl told me that was not from an Ophthalmologist. I told her that this is the prescription I am giving you to make my glasses.They charged me an additional $100 for the progressive lenses.Had to call the manager to approve that. Got my glasses and they were fine. Sunglasses took a week longer. About a week later I dropped my sunglasses, both lenses popped out. I took them back and the girl tried to put them back. She came back out and said the lenses were cut wrong and they needed to re-cut them. About a week. During this time my regular glasses had gotten a few scratches on them. I have worn glasses all my life and rarely get a scratch. Nothing was done about that. They told me I must have been cleaning them wrong. (I used the solution and cloths they gave me). 2 weeks passed and I decided to stop in and check on my sunglasses. They were finished. The date on the package was 6 days prior to my visit. (They were supposed to call me). The last time I will ever deal with them. Take my advise go to costco. you'll save hundreds of dollars. read more
