The staff at Stanton Optical in La Mesa patiently work with you and within your budget to ensure you get the glasses you need... and love. I ordered single vision lenses when I should have ordered progressives. When I shared this with Alex, the branch manager, he IMMEDIATELY told me to pick out another pair of frames and he would take care of me. Wow! What a relief. Over the next forty minutes going around and around the store trying to find the "right" frame, different members of the staff checked on me, showed me a couple of options; but never pressured me. I was so pleased with my experience here! The staff were so incredibly nice. I just needed to purchase a new pair of glasses and there were so many selections available and all at a good price. I was told my glasses would be ready in about two weeks and they were ready much sooner than that. With my luck, a fight had broken out with unknown men in the parking lot. I made the mistake of going with the penguin instead of the world or the owl and let me tell you it won't happen again. One they said they did it same day they lied the optometrist was online they only had techs in the shop. Then, when we finally received our driving glasses, a week later, they didn't have the anti-glare that we were told was on all of them when we tried to explain that we were unhappy the little guy in there with the cloudy eye, proceeded to be very rude and tell us we didn't know what we were talking about. Thieves and besides that under $100 for two para glasses is bullshit. We paid over $400.. I cannot tell you how bad I would love for a shark, a killer whale, or even a seal to eat that damn penguin that one rotten stinking penguin. I would never recommend this place to anybody the amount of rude they put out at you when you have a question or comment about their product is beyond reasonable. Went for eye exam to get new prescription for my contacts. I was very clear on that. Once it was done, I was told I needed to make another appt. Since the doctor wrote it wrong. Took another day off work and got another test. The guy that works there named Haykel, was so rude to me and quoted me a price of 250 dollars with my insurance and I had been quoted 49 dollars the day before. I was practically in tears as he was rude and then said you can just go somewhere else then". I was with stanton for about 8 years but I will NEVER go back or refer anyone there. You will end up paying more then anywhere else. The manager John W. Was able to calm me down and I paid my 49.00. Contacts were supposed to be there in 3 to 4 days. It's been 11 and I am told they are still not there. read more

I saw the 2 for $69 ad and made an appointment. At my appointment Cody greeted me and set me up for my included eye exam. After the eye exam Cody helped me find a great set of frames. I decided to get 1 silver and 1 brown color. My lens for the first pair were done in less than an hour. They fit perfectly. But the 2nd pair of frames were out of stock. They'd order more and call me. After a week they call, and I head back. When I tried them on I notice that they are the same color as my first pair. They made a mistake, my 2nd pair was suppose to be brown. But what bothered me was they did not apolgize. It seems Cody was the one who made the mistake, but no one wanted to own up to it. Again, I'd have to come back. After a few weeks I call them and they tell me that my glasses are ready but have been misplaced. I've finally received my 2nd pair, but the whole situation has been utterly frustrating. The 2 for $69 deal is just not worth the hassle. I went in for an eye exam at this place a few months back. I took the prescription and ordered glasses and also got contacts from somewhere else because the $99 glasses I wanted from their store would have ended up costing $815. It wasn't even anything special, not any major brand, but all the antiglare, etc, etc, added up. Put both on and my vision was completely blurry. My eyes had not changed that much because I could still see fine with my old glasses. I went back for another exam with a doctor this time and sure enough the prescription the tech gave me was not correct. I told the brand manager- Mariela this and all I wanted them to do was replace my one box of contacts-- not even compensate me for the glasses which cost a few hundred dollars. She was RUDE, unreasonable and blamed me for the wrong prescription. I have never had such BAD service from any businesses. She was a complete B---and I will never go back there. For the price you get a tech, not a real doctor in person. Don't waste you money! By the way as a follow up my wife called the store and Mariela hung up on her! What kind of business is this? Beware! They took my fantastic Costa Del Mar sun glass frames to put my prescription in. the sales person said it would take 2 weeks. Later I was looking at the tiny print on my receipt and it said 3 weeks. I got a message that my glasses are delayed until the 14th, which will make it an entire month with no sunglasses. I tried to call the La Mesa office, but there is no direct line so I will have to go in tomorrow and demand my money back and my frames. I highly suspect they have lost my order with frames or one of their employees has just taken the frames for themselves. I will file a do not pay with my bank, but they still owe me close to $150.00 for my frames. What a horrible company. It does not matter if there prices are lower if they do not provide you with the glasses and prescription. The money for all these companies is in selling you frames. Loosing my business is just not that important to them because they are not making enough profit off of me even though it was $352.45, a lot of money for me! Still when you realize that Costco charged my $160 for the same prescription in a progressive, it is a lot. read more

I was at PB (Pacific Beach) and I went into the ocean and stupid me forgot that I had my glasses on. Soon after a big wave swept under me and took my glasses!!!
