I went to Stanton Tailor after reading the Yelp reviews and the reviews are right on the mark. I will add my story here as well. I had a few pairs of suit pants that needed some work. Two of them were too tight and one just needed to be let out. For the tight pants, the owner (Pablo?) told me that nothing could be done for the sides but he could add some material to the crotch area that could help with the tightness. A week later I come back and try on the pants and they are still tight. He doesn't charge me for the tight pants, only for the one where the waist was let out. Very honest and decent tailor. I dropped off a pair of pants to get hemmed and a dress shirt from work that needed to be let in. Although the alterations took a lil bit of time, the results were awesome. I couldn't ask for a better fit on my shirt. Pablo is def the man(even if it looks like he's not paying attention to what you're saying) and the guys behind the counter def deserve much credit as well. If u need a quick alteration they might not be the place, but if u have a couple days to wait for ur clothes.. then def stop by and try them out, i'm sure you'll be pleased with the results! read more

i went to this place on a referral from a friend. i got a new pair of pants hemmed (...with a cuff and a crease...) and the gentleman there, Pablo, was happy to do it while i waited. the price was very reasonable (under $10). probably a lot less than one might pay in a lot of places. while i was there, several customers came in for drop offs and pickups and most seemed to be on a first name basis and had expressed a great deal of satisfaction for work just finished or alterations in the past. there were also people walking by waving to Pablo who in turn returned a friendly and familiar wave. i don't live in the neighborhood but i would certainly go out of the way to go back based on the friendly service i received and perceived from other patrons. read more

Pablo is great. Brought in a ton of stuff today and asked if I could get my coat back tomorrow, to which he replied: "I don't like to say no." super quick, and the price is always right. This rating would be a 5, because Stanton tailor Shop does very quality work, but i have to give it a 4 as there was a 3 week wait last time I went. If you can wait that long for your clothing, I would highly recommend this place. I would also like to add that Pablo, the owner, was very professional in our conversation. He was transparent about the long wait time, gave me advice, and referred me to another tailor nearby. Needed pants altered to be slightly slimmer at the waist and through the leg. Pablo was on vacation when I went in, but his crew exceeded my expectations. Stanton Tailor Shop has skilled tailors, fair prices (for Manhattan), and are reliable except for rush jobs. The frentic pace on certain days makes mistakes unavoidable, but it took near a half hour for my pieces to turn up! However, the workers were very nice. During their search they were very sympathetic toward me - cracking jokes and sharing stories. Makes it hard to complain. Lovely shop, but good work takes time, so let them have it! read more

Pablo makes sure I'm comfortable and that I'm getting what I want. Since I've been recommended to him by my friend, I've been going to Stanton Tailor Shop, a few times a month for the past six month. Every time I go shopping now, I have a sense of ease knowing that if an item of clothing I buy doesn't fit exactly the way I want it to, I'm in good hands because of Pablo. I have to mention, the Stanton tailors do an amazing job when it comes to rips. I have a tendency to get rips around the crotch area of my pants and they make it seem like it was never there in the first place. Seamless! Hems, tapers and even t-shirts! Pablo does a great job but I am curious if his prices have creeped up over the years. They don't seem as cheap as they were years ago. But don't get me wrong, they are definitely affordable and cheaper than your average tailor. While he does a commendable job, I'd just recommend to people to make sure you come in with an opinion of what you want done because the times I've gone (maybe over a dozen times) I always ask him for his advice and he never gives any...whenever I ask him "what do you think/recommend?" he always responds "i don't know, its whatever you want"...argh, I'm not a tailor so it'd be nice if he just gave some of his own opinion to a length of a sleeve, etc....another frustration is there doesn't seem to be set prices like a typical tailor. It's a complete mystery to me when I bring in multiple items or have multiple alterations. Once I was trying to get an idea of what all was required and the cost of each alteration on my suit so I can see if it was worth doing everything or just some of the alterations. I asked him how much it was for just the sleeves but he skirted the question and gave me a vague response. It's also puzzling how he calculates the bill which is often not itemized so I have no idea how he gets to the final price. Seems he arbitrarily writes a number down sometimes. I brought in a coat once and had the sleeves done and coat taken in and he just scribbled $90 on a receipt. I was like huh? How'd you get that? read more

I stopped into this shop randomly one saturday to get a zipper fixed on a dress I had. Given my past experience with tailors I expected them to take the dress overnight at least and charge me a lot to put in a new zipper. The people here are so nice.
