Nathan Anthony, store manager of the Concord CA store on Treat Bl. should be fired. He has zero customer service skills. I ordered a toner on Tuesday 8/10 and was told it would arrive in the store 8/11. This went on everyday - including today - where I was now told maybe it will get to the store next Tuesday 8/18. I was talking to Nathan and he literally turned away from me and RAN away saying he had something else to do!! Even "Jim" another employee was surprised at his behavior! I said just cancel the order and give me a refund - they said they can't!! They want to wait till the toner gets in the office! WTH!! This is why brick and mortar stores are becoming dinosaurs... I ordered the same toner from Amazon - it will be delivered tomorrow to my home. Meanwhile - I'm out $50 with no assurance of when I'll really get a refund and yet a 5th trip to the damn store! .... and you know what - when Nathan returned - he never apologized... Staples - save some $$ & get another employee to replace him who can even describe customer service - that would be an improvement! Purchased an H-P printer on the web, one hour pick up at the store, Fantastic service. Ready for pickup as promised. Unfortunately upon unpacking (no visible external damage) discovered it was broken. Returned to the store, and manager Robert and the folks fell over themselves in having another one replacement immediately and out the door in minutes. Wanted to buy my mom a kindle before she came over, and I had to search high and low for someone on the floor to help. I never found anyone, so I was forced to get in the long cashier line and she had to page someone. This person seemed confused to be helping me leaving me ultra confused. This is the worst office supply store I've been in. Half of the store is empty, there was trash everywhere, and sometimes they don't even have displays, just piles. I asked someone for help and it was clear they did not want to help. I asked if they could check to see if they had something in stock and he told me "well, I guess I can but it would be a minimum of a 20 minute wait." The carpet also smelled terrible. I am so blown away by the level of customer service I just received from Staples Online Service, I had to share my experience. I purchased a Netgear modem 2 months ago from Staples Online. I have been having issues with reception and have been on the phone with Netgear tech support on and off since the purchase. Finally yesterday they said that it may be a faulty device and that I should exchange it for another one. I did not believe that Staples would accept the return, as it is beyond the 30 day return policy. When I called them they said, no problemo. She asked me if I would be "home" today, they would bring me a new one at no charge!! HELLO!!! I just hooked the new one up.... unfortunately it is not working as good as I had hoped, so I may have some type of interference. But, I wanted to share my amazing experience with Staples! I totally recommend them & if I can't get it at Costco, I'm going to get it at Staples from now on :) read more

I always buy my back to school supplies here. I also bought binders for my movie DVD binders. There was a guy Chris,who had tattoos, who was super helpful. He even jumped my car on his break when my car battery died. Alexis and Patrick in the computer tech help seem to know computers. Alexis got my wireless internet on my laptop going again. This is the Staples nearest to my house. In the beginning, they were pretty good. As of late they've just been getting worse and worse as time goes by. And their customer service is abominable on a good day. I used to buy the heavier quality paper (28#), by the case. Then you couldn't get cases, maybe a ream here and there. Now they don't have it at all. So I get heavier paper at OfficeMax. Last week I went to buy new dry erase wall calendars. One for my home office and one for my rented space. I got to the counter and the girl said $25 total. I said "That's not right, this one is supposed to be $28." No, she said, it's right. Well, what she didn't say is they are having inventory problems (no shit, it's not like I bought any paper that day) and the calendar was 2017. Who the hell needs a 2017 calendar on December 1? I know what happened in 2017. I have to plan 2018! So I had to take it back. I took it back yesterday only to find out that while they do have 2018 calendars, they're in the back somewhere and they don't have the staff to go dig them out. Come back another day. Seriously. That was the answer. I got it at OfficeMax. The whole process took me an hour, to return and drive to another store and get what I needed. At least they took back the 2017 one. Next time I'm just ordering on Amazon in the first place. read more

I reserved a printer Online for Instore pickup on 05/27/2014. I got an e-mail within minutes saying that the printer is ready for pickup. The e-mail also showed the price and pickup deadline date of 05/28/2014. On 05/28/2014, I got a reminder e-mail that the order is ready for pickup and at the same price as mentioned in the earlier e-mail. This evening I called the store to confirm that the printer is available for pickup and at the same price as what I reserved it for. A store associate confirmed that the printer was available at the price I reserved. I then drove to the store which was 25 miles from my office after what was a long day at work. The store team supervisor tells me he can't honor the price. At one point he was arguing that no staff at the store even spoke to me on the phone. Later on he budged down and accepted some of his staff members might have erroneously told me that the price is still valid. I was wondering what is the point of a reservation and all the "order is ready" e-mails that I got from staples if you guys don't honor the price? The supervisor even showed me a print out of the order confirmation he got from staples online which has the cashier instructions and pickup instructions. This printout clearly stated the price of the printer during online reservation. He still wouldn't honor the price! I am very unhappy with my shopping experience and will take my business elsewhere if STAPLES doesn't compensate me for the inconvenience caused by this store read more

If you want your documents promptly printed or serviced, this is not the place. Even with advanced orders, this Staples does not have them ready. This is the third time I'm here, and it happened each time. Also, if you want an employee helping you find stuff in the store, this is not the place. Today, and employee asked if she can help, and I told her what I needed, she then turned around and told someone else to take care of it--while she just contined dusting some merchandise. If you want good customer service, and actually on-time and prompt documents, this really is not the place. read more

Service was excellent. The young man who helped me walked me to the product I needed and suggested others. No fifth star is because stock was low in some areas of the store. Not sure why. Most of the time, though, they have what I need. I've been shopping here since they opened in this location and I intend to continue. Two suggestions-- stock more and remodel. read more

This review is for the printing department. Several times In the past 6 weeks I've sent in orders to be printed. I get the confirmation that my order has been completed but have gone in and Print Center is closed and either the staff isn't allowed to even go into the Print Center or they can't find my order. I've been told everything from the entire printing department walked out and we won't have it open for at least 45 days to Copy Person is sick to we can't find anyone to work here. I went in to make some copies, and to print a shipping label from Amazon this afternoon. I was having trouble with the latter (my limitations, not Staples') and Julian was incredibly helpful. When I approached his work area, he was helping another woman, who appeared to be tweaking. He acknowledged me, just the same. And did an excellent job of explaining things, multiple times, to the young, tweaky woman. I was sorely confused about the printing process, and Julian provided excellent, patient, thorough, gracious assistance to me, despite several interruptions from other customers. Another woman came in right after me, also needing technical assistance, because she'd just been to the optometrist and had her eyes dilated; she was pretty agitated. Julian was INCREDIBLY patient and helpful with her, too. Julian handled three very needy, "high maintenance" customers in a row, with grace, respect and accuracy. Please, Staples, do not let Julian get away! He is a true asset to your business, and may well be management material. BTW, manager "Robert," please pay attention to this review! This review is for the Print Center only. The individuals I encountered claiming to serve customers are computer illiterate. They were too lazy to look on my thumb drive for a file, but instead chose to try to embarrass me by claiming my description of the file location was made as if talking to a child. Actually, a two-year old would have done a better job than those at the counter this morning. As you can imagine, I was not embarrassed, but determined. I informed management of their incompetence and was asked to leave the store by a weak-willed, shadow of a manager. Fortunately, the UPS store just up the street employs competent staff. Within 15 minutes of arriving at UPS on Clayton Road, my job was complete. Too bad, Staples! You lost a customer and hopefully my review will further decrease your foot traffic. read more

Great Customer Service While shopping in the store today, I noticed a desk floor mat that caught my eye. I came for file boxes, and found myself inquiring about the cost of a faux wood floor desk mat with Assistant Manager Christopher. He was most helpful. He directed me to the coupon table, where I found a $10.00 off coupon for all the floor mats. So, I left with the needed file boxes that I found at a clearance table, and the desk floor mat too. Nice to find that a young man of his character was eager and willing to help me save some money. He also, directed staff to help me out to my car with my purchases. Nice! read more

I take my laptops here to get them fixed, They got a big sign' We fix computers' . I usually end up paying about half the cost of the laptop to fix any problem hardware or software related. I have no way to compare how competitive their rates are. Last week I had wireless connectivity issues which turned out to be touchpad issue. Nonetheless I ended up with an antivirus software with one year antivirus warranty. The free Xfinity Norton 360 suite wasn't good enough I was told. Total cost $ 275.00 People are very nice however and do give personal attention as opposed to the giant electronic stores. read more

My computer monitor went out on me, so I went down to this Staples to look at monitors. First time I went they seemed really busy so I left and came back later. Second time I come back and no one acknowledges me or asks me if I need help. I had to go to the cashier and ask if I could get some help. A employee comes up to me and doesn't look too happy to have to assist me. He wasn't very much help. This store is also very messy. I was surprised when I discovered they charge more for ink cartridge than their website advertises. Their stock has diminished. It is good enough if you need something in a hurray, envelops, paper and the like. They do match online prices but you have to ask. So for a higher priced item check a price online first. read more
