I needed to print 270 pages. Instead of the lady tell me that she will help me to print it, she sent me to do it myself. It took me 2 whole hours instead of half or less of that if she would agree to help. Good store and prices are really great. But the service could be easier. I don't often stop by Staples, but a day or two ago I wandered in, exhausted after looking everywhere in vain for a particular lighted magnifying glass; my vision is just 'meh' (I am 70)..I was greeted at the front by James, who deserves a special high five. He asked what I was looking for, then directed me clearly and, graciously. I also needed office services, as our Fax is kaput. I now understand how to access Staples Fax services easily. James was extremely helpful; management note - this employee is a real plus for the Union Square store. Oh, I found that magnifying glass and it was just the thing. If I ever go back to this place in union square to print anything and see Stuart again , I will turn my back and leave and never go back there again !!!!! He was So rude and disrespectful with so much attitude , he yells and you, says to send whatever you need to an email with all the info and walked out on you while you are trying to get details on what info to send, I spent almost an hour to get there not for someone to yell at me, to send everything on email without any explanation and being ignored while asking questions .He didn't wanna resize my file and was trying to overcharged me for everything !!!!!!!So Bad !!!! The other person was having an issue with making copies I saw how rude and disrespectful he was talking to him too, didn't explain anything, and when the customer got an error in printing , with overcharging , Stuart said he can't do anything to fix it . If you have traveled recently you know the airports are zoos. Took my mother with me to get TSA precheck. Researched on line and found out that Staples now offered this service. Really? Figured I would pack snacks for this ordeal. Figured it would be 3-4 hours on line. Met a girl named Montana. (My mom insists her name was Dakota.) She wAS efficient, smart and KIND to both of us. We didn't have appointments but she had us out in 25 minutes with $5 coupons for the store also! we got our ktn numbers today. That was easy! read more

During this crazy time of Covid, the amount of shipping my Co-Owner and I have needed to do for my business has gone through the roof. I have to really give a big shout-out to Andy, who has handled 99% of all the shipping we have done over the past several months. All my shipping varies client to client and Andy has been AMAZING in handling all the aspect of all the shipping I had to do. He has been incredibly patient, detailed, and thorough. i had a specialty request which required cutting entire pads of paper, so i inquired at the print shop in the union sq. location as to whether they had a paper cutter which could handle the job. the man and woman at the desk told me that they did, and that i should go find the pads i wanted, and bring them back to them to be cut. i got a five pack, so when i went back to the print shop and the man told me that it was $4 per cut, i decided that i'd just try doing the first one at home with a razor, since i wasn't even sure that it was going to work, anyway. the woman checking me out at the register, margaret, happened to be the same woman with whom i had spoken earlier in the print shop. she asked how everything was working out, and when i told her what was going on, she offered to trim one for free, just to see if it worked. it worked perfectly, and she did the remaining four pads at no charge as well. staples, in a city where it's tough to get a store associate to look up from their phone or pause their conversation with a coworker to look you in the eye, i hope that you appreciate and acknowledge your employees who take pride in their work. thanks again, margaret! read more

Conveniently located in union square, this store has been there forever. It carries most things every other staple store does, but for some specific items you might have to order online and pickup at the store. Their printing section and team is very efficient and extremely competitive. You can print most anything through the website and pick it up same day. All he employees do a great job at helping you, and they usually know the store by heart. Ask and go straight to what you need or you'll leave with extra things. read more

This isn't your typical 5-star office supply, but it'll suffice. I'm usually here in my pajamas and bunny slippers really really late at night printing something last minute. Their location just outside of Union Sq and 24-hour operation hours makes it very convenient to drop by. Due to my own laziness and lack of a printer, I don't take out my frustrations on the employees. In fact, I usually chat them up. Because if anything is worse that printing your cover letter at 3AM, it's WORKING at that hour. There has been a few times when the printing station messed up my paper. The young gentleman behind the counter helped me by taking it inside the office and printing it on nice expensive paper. (The following day, the hiring managers said "this is some really nice paper" when I presented them with CV. So thank you, whoever you were working that graveyard shift!) read more

Absolute worst Staples location you can go to. They're around the corner from our office, so I've gone three or four times for various jobs. Jobs are consistently done incorrectly because they don't write down the appropriate details when you place your order. Work is never completed on time and there is zero communication with the customer. I've shown up numerous times for a job I was told would be completed to find out they need another 2-3 hours. Showed up 8:30AM this morning for a job that was promised to be finished by 2PM the day before to find out they hadn't even started. They told me a revised time of 11:00 AM, I came back to find out it still isn't finished - it's now 1PM and still no order is ready and not apologetic at all. Horrendous customer service, no one working there has any idea what is going on, I recommend you go anywhere but here. read more

Sometimes convenience is like a high five that just waits for you to walk into it. I remember heading toward Union Square one day, thinking to myself, "You know, it'd be really cool if I could find a nearby Staples for some [insert office supply here]." I pulled out my phone and launched my trusty Yelp app, typed in "Staples", and promptly walked into one of their sidewalk "/\" shaped ads that was sitting right in front of the doorway. Well I'll be damned. Staples! Of course, being the total dork I am, I still hit "search" in the app, just to see what would come up. Apparently, I was in the right place. What did we do without GPS? Oh wait, we walked into things. Right. Anyway! I've always been a fan of Staples, but there's definitely a difference between particular locations. Sometimes they're just badly run, or full of people who don't know their asses from their elbows. Thankfully, this is one of the better ones. The place is VERY clean and organized, and the staff actually knows where everything is, and can direct you accordingly. I've come in a few times with depressingly vague descriptions of supplies I needed, and they knew what I was referring to every time. That's a big thumbs up from me. Also, it's open 24/7. This review is specifically for the very lovely and friendly printing/binding services available at this particular Staples. I had to print and bind my thesis, and was losing sleep worrying about botched binding, lost files, and formatting flubs, after hearing so many others' printing horror stories. Despite a general wariness of both big corporations' customer service and technology, my looming deadline encouraged me to submit my print job through Staples' website, where I selected all of my binding bells and whistles from home. The online submission process uses tons of helpful images to show you what you're asking for, and even allows you to flip through a digital version of your final product before hitting the send button. Perf. A few hours later, I swung by to pick up the darling eight month time-sink that is my thesis, and was out in ten minutes. AND, while I was there, I liked the finished product so much, I had them print off and bind one more for me, while I stood there and watched. Couldn't have been a nicer, easier, less stressful experience. Plus, it's just a hop from Chipotle, easing the path for the all-important celebratory burrito. read more

Some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered ... I wanted to buy an external hard drive, but they're locked up inside a case. First of all, employees walk past trying not to make eye contact with me - God forbid I might ask them for assistance ... I finally found an employee just sitting on (one of the many) reclining chairs in the store, messing around on his phone. I asked him if he can unlock the case - without looking up form his phone, he tells me to go ask the Easy Tech counter. Over at the Easy Tech counter, more employees refuse to make eye contact, or acknowledge me at all - and a few more employees appear to be hiding in the back room, behind the counter. Wow these people hate their job, and are more lazy than government employees. After standing in front of the counter like an idiot for over 10 minutes, I left - walked across Union Sq over to Best Buy - and was instantly greeted by someone asking if they could help me. I was in and out of Best Buy in just minutes - with the same hard drive at the same price. My advice: Avoid Staples. Go to Best Buy. It's just down the block. read more

This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. To begin with, the people who work there don't look happy about working there at all. I understand that it could be frustrating dealing with printing, binding work etc, but it's your job, and you're getting paid for it, so while you're at it at least try to get a decent job done! Don't give me that look of ahh why can't you figure this out on your own. They don't even care if your life depends on it. I went there two days ago to get some material printed. I had a WD passport on me to transfer my files. They saw I had one, but they chose to tell me after half an hour of trying to transfer the files that their system doesn't accept passports. I let that go. When I finally sent them my files online to get the printing and binding work done, I thought it would come out as I wanted it to, especially since I put in notes of how I wanted it to be, but when I went there today to pick it up I saw that they had fucked up everything! How can you not have the pages in the right order, when there are numbers on each page? I refused to pay for their shoddy job and told them to throw it in the bin. Please don't go there if you have important work to get done. If it's something simple and non professional then they're okay, but otherwise this place is a big NO NO! read more

It's not often I roll into a business on my hoveround and am greeted by a murderer's row of soiled garments, but that's what you get when a place sets up all it's fax machines in the entryway... only people faxing things are hippie backpackers begging mom and dad for another Benjamin so they can spend the next week "discovering themselves" in a subway jam band between paint huffs and lawyers. Look friends, I'm in the self-promotion biz and normally when I need 1200 single sided B&W zed cards, I go to staples where I can manipulate a dumb high schooler in to giving me a discount. But when I can't even make it to the counter because some jerk in a $400 suit doesn't understand how to work a preloaded monetary key card on the universal waystation, I lose my grill! This Staples is open 24 hours, so I head here when other stores are closed. Besides the convenient hours, this store is superior to the other Staples locations because the customer service is excellent. Leticia, who works at night at the register, was considerate and helpful. I had to carry a very large container home on the subway. She bagged, taped, and fashioned a leash that made carrying my bulky item home on the train as easy as carrying a handbag! The upstairs employee (whose name I didn't catch) was also very attentive and helpful when I placed my kiosk order. Even the manager was helpful, which is in contrast to other locations where the manager was clueless. The only negative is that the internet connection at the kiosks was poor, but that may have been just the day I was there. And some items were sold out. Really organized with staff available for questions. So far, every time I enter, I get a "Hello, welcome to Staples" (half & whole hearted). 2nd floor with all the office supplies are neat and aisles are navigated easily. There's also a sale-table present for any quick deals. (Got a semi-heavy duty Stapler of 28-sheet capacity for $9 (tag says: $16)). Overall, very convenient store near subway stops. read more

Going to staples has always brought back memories of those chilly September days where I had to bustle through the crowds of children and parents with my list of school items. I don't shop here as often any ore because you can always find things cheaper elsewhere. Even with that said, staples always have pretty decent sales. I went to this staples yesterday to pick up some sales items and was surprised at the level of customer service there. I wasn't expecting much because prior to my trip, I had read reviews of the rude customer service, etc. I interacted with three separate employees whom were all very helpful and attentive in helping me find what I needed. I went around lunchtime on a Monday so it wasn't very busy and was able to get everything I needed in 15 mins. The cashier was very polite and even applied an extra discount (from the circular) to my order. I would definitely shop here again. I came in here to ship something and was shocked at how great my experience was. It was my first time shipping something at staples , I was completely clueless, and on top of everything I had a bad day. But when I walked in the door, the person at the register instantly asked me what I needed , I said shipping, and she pointed me in the direction of the shipment center. There, I was met with very helpful, polite and kind employees. They measured my item, told me what size box I needed, I went upstairs, someone immediately asked me what I needed, I said such and such, and 10 second later was coming back down with the right box. They packed my item, secured it, taped it up, put the label on, rung me up and I was done in no time. Very quick, helpful, polite and nice staff! In the face of so many bad reviews of this place, I felt like it's important to leave a positive review , showing that customer service and quality of the employee - customer interaction makes all the difference in the world. read more

I don't usually shop at Staples because everything is a bit over priced. However when they have a sale, I can't myself from buying their items even if I don't need it. I have a two huge boxes of office supplies full of items I don't need but since the items were so cheap I couldn't help myself. This location also have wifi so if you can find a better price from a competitor you can match it. This location is pretty organized and they do a decent job of tracking their inventory. The store also has the most hours of any location. In an emergency you can always come here for your office supplies needs. read more

Terrible customer service. I came here to purchase a new tablet. First the salesman went on and on about the extended warranty, and I said, "no" repeatedly. I understand that you're a salesman, but there's a line. You do not continue pushing the customer to purchase something when they've already said, "no", many many times. After giving me attitude, he walks away and disappears for 10 to 15 mins and returns to hand me a tablet "new" in box. However, the box was damage as well as the factory seal had been tampered with. He insisted that this was new, and had two other employees aid his defense, yet there is no reason why an expensive electronic device should appear in this sort of condition, even if it's the box. It shows the kind of care they put into their products. After a stare down by the staff, I said, "no" one final time and left for good. read more

Currently writing this review as I wait in line for the copy and print shop. The line has not moved since I joined. There are clearly not enough employees to manage the demand for copy/prints. Plus, it doesn't help that the employees are moving extremely slowly. I've come here before to get papers bound into a book. The service that time was also slow but better than this experience. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE FOR TWENTY MINUTES. Update: after I finally got to the front of the line, the employee who was working with me left abruptly... I am writing this review not because I liked their products... This review is PURELY for the workers' attitudes and training. I accompanied a friend to this particular staples for a quick trip. I was surprised to be asked immediately by a worker if I needed something. He was super willing to help. I wasn't getting anything and informed the worker while sitting on the staples chair waiting for my friend. At the checkout line, the speed was swift and the service was efficient. They added more cashiers once the line grew long, as they should. It seems like a pretty smart or well trained group of guys. Actually I'm just now reading the other reviews and it's shocking to me that the same people who greeted me actually was rude. Perhaps it was because I wasn't planning on seriously buying anything and I was simply waiting for my friend, that I didn't get to see the other side of the workers. Staples' website advertises color printing, for the quantity I needed, at 37 cents per page. To print on card stock (which I had to buy, for $19), it is $1.41 per page. I learned this when I picked up my order and had a mini meltdown in the store. These prices aren't posted anywhere in the store that I saw. When I said I wanted to print on card stock, no one said it would be an extra fee. The only extra fee that was mentioned was a cutting fee of "I don't know, $8 or something?" which I turned down because I was trying to save my fellow bridesmaids some money. The employee who rung me up wasn't particularly helpful or at all sympathetic. I apologized to him for being upset about the situation, since it wasn't his fault, but he said, "Yeah, the managers upstairs won't do anything so it's not even worth saying anything." Didn't apologize for what had happened, it was just an "it is what it is" sort of thing, and directed me over to the cutting station. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is that after an HOUR of standing by myself, hand cutting invitations at one of the side counters, as it neared in on closing time, one of the other copy center employees silently walked over to me, grabbed the remaining stack (about 20 of the original 60 sheets) and brought them to a big machine to cut them for me. Took her all of 2 minutes. I nearly cried thanking her. So while I'm STILL fuming over the lack of information and some subpar service I did receive, Staples does have a few quality employees there if you look hard. Not happy. Bought a portable Canon, after... Said I have a Macbook Pro. Told the printer prints wirelessly. It doesn't print wirelessly unless you buy an IRDA adapter, which isn't compatible with Mac, or a bluetooth, which is expensive. read more

Oh the number of times I've had to make repeat visits to my own neighborhood Staples just to get a single online printing order correct. So much for same-day service. That's why I jumped ship to a location a little farther uptown this go-round, and boy was I pleased. The uber-helpful printing rep assisted with taking the order. Like magic, I returned end of day and it was ready and packaged to go right on time and spot-on correct. Such a breath of fresh air compared to past Staples boondoggles. Props to this location, too, for the weekday 24hour service and the shelves which are pretty much always stocked with what you came in for. Not a guarantee at Manhattan locations. Terrible experience. I submitted a print via email, and never heard from them so called 4 times over the next two days, speaking to a representative each time. They all promised they would return my call, never did. Two days later finally got an answer (again, when I called THEM) and succeeded to confirm the print was ready. When I arrived to pick it up, the rolled print was crushed and they would not be able to print another for until the end of the night. Go to any of the other copiers in the neighborhood instead, don't waste your time on this Staples location. Their service is deplorable. read more

The hours at this particular staples are amazing. During weekdays, they are open 24 hours, can you believe it? And the rates here are just amazing. For example, the other day I made ten black and white print outs for just $1.31. However, the machines here are really shit, and are always laggy, often malfunctioning. Lola who works there was incredibly rude to me. I don't know if she was the manager but when I asked to exchange an unopened item 20 days after purchasing it, she gave me a lot of attitude. All of the employee have a lot of attitude. Quite unprofessional as well with the nose rings (not the Indian type, rather the ones that are used on cows) tatoos all over the place. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the most inefficient waste of time garbage place I have ever been to in my life. It's expensive, counterintuitive, and nobody NOBODY knows what's going on, least of all the people who work here. The lines are ridiculous, two out of 4 copiers were out of service, the payment system is absolute garbage. I would rather fling myself into an active volcano than print here again. I should have flushed my money down the toilet rather than give it to these people because the print job belongs in a toilet anyway. URGH. read more
