This Staples was my go to for a decade for printer ink, back to school supplies and any other office supply items I may need at home. Although more convenient to buy these things on Amazon, I believe it's important to spend my money locally. That said, I will never step foot in this Staples again. I popped in to do an Amazon return then planned to purchase some printer ink. The last time I did an Amazon return at Staples, the counter was by the printer counter. It's now been moved to the cashier area. I walk in the store, normally get greeted but no one did. Walked to the printer area, saw the sign pointing me to the cashier area for Amazon returns. There are two cashiers, neither say anything to me but one makes eye contact. Each had a customer, no one else in the line. Both of them are obviously drawing out their transactions, I'm guessing no one likes Amazon returns. No biggie, I'll wait my turn. After a minute or two goes by, I ask if there is someone who works at the returns. I'm told someone will help me soon. Ok. The one guy, whose line I have been in on several trips and who is normally friendly and kind, finishes with his customer, looks around, sees an older lady with a cart full of items walking to the check out line. He stops right near where I'm standing, fully aware I'm there, takes the cart and kindly says to her, let me help you and proceeds to start scanning her items. She says, I'm not quite done, I was looking for a whatever. I say "hey, I was here first". In this snotty, condescending tone he tells me someone would be with me. I asked again if someone worked at returns. And again with the snotty tone he tells me "we all do and you have to wait your turn". I tell him I was there before the other lady and he knew it because he spoke to me. I left. Office Depot is close, Staples in Auburn has wonderful customer service and Amazon delivers. I came into Staples to get a bunch of soccer player cards laminated and thought it was going to take a long time. When I went up to the counter, the staff explained the easiest way to get it done and even gave me tips to save time and money by cutting the cards beforehand. I followed their advice, and the process was super quick they were able to laminate everything the same day. I went to Staples Roseville to buy data transfer equipment right before my Genius Bar appointment at Apple Roseville. At Staples Roseville, I picked up a memory stick and cable owing $50, paid with a $100 bill, and received a $50 bill in change. Genius Bar didn't use the Staples equipment to transfer data from an old to new Mac because they found corruption on the hard drive and referred me to data recovery. About 2 hours after my purchase, here is how my return went at Staples, 6770 Stanford Ranch Rd., Roseville, CA 95678: First, the cashier tried to give me store credit instead of my cash back without explaining or asking my preference. Second, I asked the manager if I could exchange the $50 bill in my wallet for the $100 bill in her hand to complete the $50 return for her. She said, "No, I'm not a bank." Third, the line had to wait for the manager to go to the back of the store and make $50 in small change for the only cashier open when she could've refunded my money at the register. Fourth, the manager dropped my change on the cashier's counter. In front of her, I counted $49 in bills, $0.84 in coins, and $0.16 cents short of a $50 return. Fifth, I asked if she'd take the $0.84 in coins on the counter and hand me $1 dollar from the drawer. Instead, she slams down the missing $0.16 cents and says, "I've closed my drawer now!" While I'm picking up the lose change off the counter and putting it in my wallet, the manager is ranting how she's not a bank, there is too much going on, and I'm confusing her. Frustrated, I said, "Oh my God! It's basic math!" There was a moment of silence. I don't expect Staples to act like a bank but I do expect a retail manager to know how to refund correct change. As I'm signing her receipts and stuffing my copies in my purse, she tells me if I'm not happy with her service I should call the 800 number, she writes down her name as Stephanie, and I'm to tell them I'm upset that she followed company policy. I said, "What difference would that make?" If a company hires and promotes a person who can't count then math ability must not be important to the job so complaining to the chain of command is useless. I'm putting my review here to let people know to count their change at the Roseville store. Normally things are great at Staples so maybe it's a one-off. read more

I have been in this place quite a few times. From work related to personal things that needed to be done. The staff here has been and continuously provide great customer service. From my experience, looking for items can be frustrating. In here they actually go with you and show you where to find them. Anyway, this review is about our experience (wife and I). We came here for an appointment for tsa pre check. This is one of the location. Prior to coming here, I booked a reservation time slot (or so I thought for me) at 11:10am for me and my wife. Unfortunately my appointment didn't go through on line and I have to come back the following business day. The gentleman that was helping us, was very patient and calm. His iPad/table keeps crashing but still he was calm. Lol if that was me I would've have given up and probably smash the tablet. If you ever want to apply for tsa pre check, you can visit tsa site and get information on several places that process them. Did you know you can recycle many electronics and even an old coffee maker at Staples? So cool right? See the full list of items they accept on the Staples website. The only trouble is their employees aren't that familiar with the policy even when they are posted at the recycling counter. Hopefully since Staples Corporate addressed this with the store management today you won't have the same experience of being laughed at and told that a coffee maker is not a TV or computer. Since it was such as small job piece of paper, I was hoping to have her cut it for me since they have a straight edge and could do better than I could with my scissors. Her response? "I'd have to charge you". Mind you, this was one small piece of paper. I pay for my stuff and realize afterwards that there was a fee attached at the bottom called "Express Guarantee". I was not made aware of this fee before making the transaction so I asked what it was. She told me to avoid it I would "have to leave it with them". For one piece of paper! Had I known, I would have dropped it off before running errands, which would have wasted their time instead of mine. If you need a small lamination service done, avoid this place like the plague. The last few times we needed labels for my husband's business trip, we stopped by this Staples, because we had missed the deadline for Amazon Prime shipping. While Staples' prices are usually higher than Amazon, it's nice to be able to walk into the store and have the items in our hands when we're in a time crunch. The past few times, our cashier has been this very peppy female employee. Both times, she seemed to be in the best mood, and I loved her energy. She had this smile and giggle that just made us feel happy. It's so nice to be waited on by someone who seems really happy about their job! Then a few days ago, I was on an organizing frenzy, so I stopped by Staples to get some foldable boxes. While I was slowly just walking down the aisles, taking my time and browsing, an employee (possibly a store manager, since he was wearing a grey shirt) was vacuuming and asked if he could help me find anything in particular. He then let me know where to find the boxes. I thanked him and walked to that aisle. A few minutes later, he was nearby again and was able to answer my question between the Staples brand and another brand that was on sale. He asked if I needed help carrying the boxes, but I thanked him and said no, I could carry them. So I lugged two packs of the on-sale boxes up to the front and the cashier rang me up. I then proceeded to give her my coupon, which was $10 off a purchase of $30. Since this purchase would be over $40, I figured there wouldn't be an issue. Turns out the items had to be "regularly-priced." Once again the store manager employee happened to be nearby (I guess the good thing about going early to a store is there are fewer customers, so you get more attention), and he helped me get 2 regularly-priced packs, while returning the ones I didn't want. He even grabbed a cart for me too. (I tend to do things the hard way and avoid carts, so he made things a lot easier. Thank you!). I completed the purchase and was heading out the door. The store manager/employee was walking back into the store (I think he was pushing some carts from outside?) and thanked me again, while I thanked him. I walked out of the store thinking, what great customer service! Plus he was so actively working hard at his job, covering so much space in a short time, and I felt that was very commendable. So... I'm hanging out with my new buddy Kelly at the FedEx store on Douglas. Why am I hanging out with Kelly at FedEx at 9:30PM writing a review about Staples? Because I left Staples at 9PM when they closed without the business critical poster that they assured me they could handle. I need this poster first thing tomorrow morning because I'm running a tournament for 200 people. These 200 people expect to see this poster, and I entrusted Staples with printing a single poster... I gave them five hours to do so, told them it was important and gave them every chance to say "no, sorry, we're too backed up" or "no, sorry, we're out of paper" or "no, sorry, our machine's broken". They had my phone number... they could have called me when they encountered problems. They did not. They instead chose to wait until 8:55 when I showed up to retrieve my finished product to say "sorry, our machine broke down... but hey, we'll give you a refund". That's not the way business works, folks. Be like Kelly and Faisal... get the job done and support business owners. Sadly, this is not the first time I've had this type of experience with the Staples print department. Last time (same type of order, same type of promise, same results) - the printer was clearly working... so I told them I was just going to hang out until they got it done... and they eventually did (30 mins after closing time). So... while I wrote this review... Kelly at FedEx (with some help from Faisal) accomplished what Staples could not. I like Staples as a store, actually, and will continue to drop by with non-critical needs like... oh... buying paper clips and pens... but I've been burned enough times by enough *different* print people at enough *different* Staples stores that I simply can't trust them with business critical items. Nice and clean store which is very well organized; you are bound to find something here that you didn't come in for, but now need! I came in to purchase an HP 92 Printer Ink Cartridge that I saw on Staples.com for $15.99 with free shipping. The same cartridge in the store was $17.99. Now I checked the website to see if they stated that the price would be different in store, but nowhere did it say, so I assumed it to be the same. Now I know it costs more to run a retail store (hence the $2 difference) but I would have just liked to know that the price would be different beforehand. Just FYI. After choosing my cartridge I walked around the store for a bit to check out what else they had because I'm a sucker for sharpies, markers, paper, post-it's, etc. and boy they sure had a ton! I was impressed with how much they had of everything! The cashier who helped me check out was very nice and good at making conversation. I would not recommend this location to complete your TSA precheck. Staff demands other forms of identification not required by TSA. In fact upon online confirmation of your TSA appt, the TSA identifies what documents you need to bring to your appt. Staff requested a birth certificate which made no sense considering TSA does not request such document during their online intake process and let's get real there's no picture associated to a birth certificate. It was a hassle in itself to get staff to outreach and escalate this issue when I showed them the appt confirmation from TSA which did not identify a birth certificate as required documentation. They took an avg 5-10 min appt for scanning of your ID and fingerprints and turned it into a 30 min ordeal because I simply pushed back and made them aware that their in-person validation process is flawed and not consistent with the TSA communications I received. They supposedly got an FBI agent on the phone to walk them through completion of the intake process and guess what...no other form of identification was asked about or needed from this FBI agent and verification was completed. Staff then proceeded to tell me well we do what we are told and we are told we need two forms of ID. Nope not coming back here again and waisting my time with unnecessary documents requested by staff. read more
