The technician who answered the phone told me about the possible source of the problem and how to diagnose and fix it myself. He thought I should try that first rather than charging me $140 for a service call for something that I could do myself. He also said that I could call to follow up if I ran into issues. I was able to fix the problem thanks to his instructions. This is great customer service, even though I wasn't a customer! They will get my business for any appliance service from now on.

Fortunately I then found "Quality U Expect Appliance Repair". During our telephone call, Skip, the owner walked me through a few diagnostic procedures to determine the ice maker condition at no charge. As a result, his opinion was that ice maker was dead and needed to be replaced. Two days later, he arrived with a new ice maker and had it installed within about 15 minutes. Skip obviously new his way around the workings of a Samsung refrigerator, very knowledgeable, professional, and reliable. He is highly recommended!! He charged us $80 when we were quoted $59 for a service call. He claims he could have charged us $200 and replaced a fan that did not need replacing, but he only charged us $80 for the minimum labor charge. When questioned, he was rude and outraged that I would question him and his charges. He refused listen to my complaint and shouted over me when I tried to talk. He is a subcontractor for Appliance Repair Center (303-872-9029). I tried to file a complaint with BBB but, of course, he is not registered. This was the worst experience I have had with the repair sector. The contractor (Appliance Repair Center) has multiple locations and I could not verify Kitchens Plus's address. Appliance Repair Center has refused accept or listen (!) to my complaint about their subcontractor. Both of these companies are horrible to deal with--lousy customer service and lousy workmanship. Stay away!!!!!

I did go on this service call. Made the first trip and the freezer was packed so full the food fell…read moreout of the freezer. The evaporator fan was not running. It was so full of food there was no sense of taking everything out and putting everything back in to only get a fan. I got the fan but had to reschedule for another day and called the customer. I told the customer that if they would take all the food out ( I would call when I was 15 min away ) that would save on labor time. I got there and it was completely full as it was the first time and had to wait 10 minutes for him to take the food out. I took the evaporator apart and found loads of saran wrap stuffed in the freezer. But the fan was running. The evaporator coils were fully frosted and the compressor operational. I spent 45 minutes in the house the second time. I explained that it may have been all the saran wrap decreasing flow from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Or it may be an intermittent thermostat. And if the refrigerator had a problem I would return and instructed not to pack the freezer so full. I did not charge for the fan which was quoted prior to my return, The website states that there is no service call fee with repair but no repairs were done and only charge the minimum 80.00 for the repair. 2 drives to the house and 1 hour total in the house for 80.00. They tried to dispute the 80.00 cc charge and lost. Its people like this that cause the appliance repair rates to go up. 40 years appliance service.
