I've been taking my 2011 Chevy 1500 LT truck to Star Auto for a few years now. I think the first time I took to them was back in 2018 (that's just a guess). Rob the shop manager has always treated me good and explained the repair so I could understand what was happening. At first I was skeptic because reviews can be all over the place with positive reviews and negative reviews. I took the chance with Star Auto and have been happy with their service. I did do my own research before going with Star Auto. If I am going to be spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars in repairs on my truck I want to make sure I am getting the best deal possible and not feel ripped off. You know what they say, "you get what you pay for" So far I have got great service from Star Auto. I really like the fact that Start Auto has loaner cars so I don't have to miss work. There was only one instance last week where I wasn't able to secure a loaner from them. But, for the most part I was always able to grab a loaner for free, while my truck was getting work on. A free loaner is important to me so that I don't have to miss work. I miss the old days where cars and trucks were easy to work on yourself. But with today's technology and innovation in cars and trucks it's not so easy anymore. So I will continue to take my truck to Star Auto!! read more

Driving home from doctor's visit, my engine light came on. I took a chance and stopped at Star Auto Service without calling ahead. They immediately checked my car and discovered a stuck thermostat, which they replaced at a reasonable price. They also checked the pH of my coolant, finding it to be OK, and checked the CO level in my coolant to see if I had a leaky head gasket (which I didn't). They also performed a safety check of my car's systems and recommended that I replace two of my tires, (which I did the next day at Costco). They offered me a ride home, allowing me to keep my day's chores on track. I picked up the car later in the day. These folks are very professional, offer reliable repairs at a fair price and I am well pleased with the service I got. read more

Star Auto Service is amazing. They really do the job right and take care of their customers. From the shuttle service to calling and giving me updates, I really appreciate their attention to detail. They even gave me a loaner car -- a mustang which is considerably cooler than the minivan I left for repair. I've had a problem with an automatic side door that wouldn't stay open. The dealer spent an entire day and insisted I'd have to replace the whole door. I brought it to Star Auto and they were able to fix it for a fraction of the cost. With a lot of outstanding reviews already, why would someone want to add yet another one? It's because I've done a good amount of mechanical work on my own cars, and I want to let everyone know that Jeff, the owner, really knows what he's talking about. He can be trusted implicitly due to his years of experience, reasonable prices, and he might even be ethical! My first time to his shop was a couple afternoons ago on a friend's recommendation who's been going to him for over ten years. He replaced a defective rear wheel hub bearing. He got my car in when he said he would, and the job was completed the same afternoon. Wendy called me to tell me that my rear brakes needed replacing; I explained that I'd do that work myself. Arriving to pick up my car, he never argued with me about it and was nice the whole time. When I first brought my car in, he immediately checked out my problem, and he gave me a tour of his facility. It's very clean, well organized, and well equipped. He briefed me on their capabilities, and they can pretty much do everything. My car was making a scraping sound every time I or my husband turned the corner. I thought it was a rock in the wheel disk but it turned out to be a missing clip. I see why everyone gave this place 5 stars. I came for a 90,000 mile checkup on my car to make sure everything was running ok and to check on some worn out brake pads. Friendly, no BS service. I've never been to a car place that tells you what you DON'T need and not just the 50 things you do. Jeff is friendly and to the point about the status of your car and what it will need and what it won't. I was only there for about 2 hours and he kept me informed on everything they were doing to my car and what I might need to get done in the future and what not to worry about. Their costs are competitive and they get the work done quickly without risking quality. It's also surprisingly hard to find a place open on Saturdays, especially until 4 like these guys are. If you're going to wait for your car rather than drop it off, you need to let them know when you call in for an appointment though. I had a little trouble finding it because it's tucked behind a shopping center (Viking Shopping Center) and I drove right by the turn so be aware you won't be turning at a light, it's just a little driveway and you have to drive past the first set of industrial buildings, through the cross street and then it's there. Nothing makes your weekend like fast, friendly and efficient service for your car so I will definitely be back for all my car repair needs. read more

Most people go to a Auto Shop thinking "I wonder how much they'll try and get out of me THIS time..." My brother has been going to this shop for approximately 20 years. He has ALWAYS been happy. I took my Jeep in for the first time. I wanted a complete safety inspection, from top to bottom. I fully expected them to give me a list of everything that "MUST" be done ASAP or else my Jeep would explode. Well, there was a list, but an HONEST one. Nothing NEEDS repaired right now. But X, Y, and Z may want to be addressed at some point. They also explained how much and why something would cost what it would cost. They were HONEST. They were thorough. They were professional. The check engine light keeps going on in my 2003 Corolla, decided to bite the bullet and take it in, Jeff did a full check up on the car and although he couldn't help my case (he doesn't do transmissions) he was so very helpful. He explained what was wrong, why he couldn't work on it, referred me to a guy he trusts, and didn't charge me a dime. One of the best shops and people you're ever going to find. After reading many complimentary Yelp reviews, I visited Star Auto Service about a month ago. I spoke with Jeff about the work I wanted to have done on my 2007 Eclipse. I told him about the items another shop had recommended, he ticked off what was most likely necessary and what most likely not. He said of course all the items could be checked to confirm. I thanked him and said I'd call for an appointment. Two weeks or so later I cleared some time and created a list of items I wanted repaired. I also asked for a heads up on any future items that I might want to start saving for. Jeff was back with me in a very reasonable amount of time (24 hours) with a very fair quote for all the work requested. I had a bunch of things on my list. He had prepared to break it into segments of work if need be to help fit my budget. My car had an issue that needed to be addressed. Jeff kept me updated every step of the way and again offered a very fair price for the work involved and it was done what I considered at a good pace considering Mitsubishi can be a pain to get parts from. Jeff also let me know things with the potential to be a problem later. This allowed me budget just in case. Very appreciative for the insight to the problems I bet he's seen for years. I am one of those people who do not mind paying more for quality service. In this case I received the quality work, great customer service at a very fair price. Working in racing I know the amount of labor Jeff and the shop put into my car. They have the exclusive contract on all our vehicles now. If you are unsure of mechanics or just not that knowledgeable of cars in general, I'd highly recommend Star. They are honest people who will put things in terms you can understand. If you are all about cars I'd certainly recommend them. They've got strong local ties and are dedicated to getting your vehicle back on the road. I am more than satisfied. I would give Star Auto Service more stars if I could!. I had trouble with my 2007 Chevy Equinox for 6 months and took it to 4 different mechanics who couldn't diagnose the problem. I finally hit upon Star Auto Service and Jeff and his staff took the time to find out what was wrong. At my suggestion they even drove it on the 57 freeway to see what it was doing at high speeds. I have been looking for a good mechanic for a while now, and this is as good as it gets! They answer calls quickly, offered me an Uber ride home after I dropped off my car, and had a full breakdown of everything that needed to be done. Usually when places call you and have a list of things your car needs done, you have no idea if it needs it or not. They sent photos proving why certain things needed to be fixed or eventually looked at, and were in no way pushy to get them done. I will be taking all my vehicles here from now on! read more

Poor follow up. I had a master cylinder put in my car and paid more for it than I should have! I went in because the rear anti-lock break light was on. I had taken it there before for the same thing and they did a rear break seal. I thought they should be fixing something that they should have already fixed. Then they tell me it's the master cylinder and it cost me $350.00. I took my car to my mechanic of 16 years, where I should have gone first. I took it to Star Automotive because they didn't fix it right the first time and I thought they would stand by their work. They didn't. Needed tires really bad called to ask the price on the cheapest** tires they had for a 2011 Toyota Corolla. $834.... I then said "the cheapest?" He said "those are the cheapest" I then asked for the tire brand and those tires were $408 with installation. My wife's 2013 Mini Cooper S just hit 60K miles and was due for service. After checking Yelp, Star's reviews put it on top. I brought the car in and Rob and I discussed what it might need. A couple hours later, I received a text with a link to the inspection and what was actually required. Several items I hadn't considered, but made sense. I called and told them to do the work, but asked about a brake fluid flush I thought I needed. Rob told me how they check to determine if this is needed, and that there was no need to spend that money. How unique, a mechanic telling me I don't need to do something! So Rob quoted me a price for everything, which seemed very fair. When I went to pick-up the car, Rob informed me they found something else it needed, and did it for free since they had already quoted me. I can't think of another shop that would ever do that. Star Auto Service does great work, and they truly understand the meaning of customer service. On top of all that, they cleaned the car, dressed the tires, and had it looking great!
