I've been here a few times and the food and always been good except once. The sauces are tasty and the spicy ones are REALLY spicy. If you like spicy sauces this is the place for you. It's pretty much a Boiling Crab but close by. Service was always excellent. The first time I went the manager/owner, middle aged Korean dude came out drank with us and comped us on a couple pitchers. Which brings me to my next point, really cheap beers. The selection is not great but the price makes it more than worth it. The new waitress, is very friendly, helpful and was a delight. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the Riverside area craving boiling crab but doesn't want to drive out to Rowland Heights. But I personally prefer this plane's sauces and fries. read more

I'm not a raving fan of Boiling Crab/Star Crab food but the food here is delicious! I've been here a dozen of times and all the times that I've gone, I haven't had any problems and the customer service was excellent. One of the servers, Tiffany, is an excellent server and was always there when needed. Every time I was there, she took care of us and made sure everything was great. I noticed that there weren't any TVs--which is pretty standard for these kinds of restaurants but it's great because it forces people to converse with each other and have a great time. However, the music could be a little more pleasant. I like beer and I like when beer is cheap so if you're like me, you'll enjoy the cheap pitchers of Kirin, Hef, Sapporro, etc. while you enjoy your shrimp or whatnot. I go to Boiling Crab at least a few times a month and I have to say that their taste comes pretty close. Their menu is fairly similar. One thing that I would suggest that they improve on is the consistency of their sauce. It's a little too runny for my liking, however it has a great flavor and if you ask for extra sauce on the side, you should be fine. Their sauce is also more on the sweeter side, but not too sweet. They have great customer service. You will see multiple servers coming over and checking in on your, not just your assigned server. Although Boiling Crab is still my favorite (sorry their seasoning is just untouchable), I would definitely return back to Star Crab. read more

Got the smallest family bucket size for two people for myself and a friend and it was still a huge amount. For this bucket you can pick two other options on top of shrimp, like mussels or clams for example, or even just extra shrimp. Decor was similar to Boiling Crab, they have writing all over the walls, booths, and fish nets. Their bathroom also has writing all over the wall and feels trashy. A "half pound" of shrimp only came down to 8 pieces. They were pretty fresh, however the Cajun sauce needs reformulating. There is very little Cajun flavor, with buttery overtones, tons of garlic and the spiciest option tastes like Boiling Crab mild. One pound is $10.95. DO NOT get their raw oysters. Not fresh at all even if you get 8 for $10. Service was mediocre. Not very attentive. I won't be coming back, very disappointing for its price in comparison to its quality. read more

Late review but a couple of weekends back I had a craving for some cajun food, I was looking on yelp and a lot of places had closed already, and one place was only doing dine in(no phone orders). I finally put in a call to Star unfortunately they were busy and not taking anymore phone orders but my husband was already out and was able to go in and place my order. I don't typically eat at places like this as it seems like too much work just to eat but seeing as I could get my shrimp peeled and headless I was all in...and I was not disappointed! The shrimp wasn't rubbery, cooked just right, corn melted off the cob, and the potatoes were just yum... but what sealed it for me was the garlic butter sauce! So good, if I could buy the sauce by itself I would, so much flavor and I am glad I got an extra side of it as I used it for the cod I cooked the following night. I order the shrimp and crab legs all the seasonings with the spiciest flavor (911) and it definitely makes my nose run but it's so addicting . Customer service is excellent besides NOT answering the phone for take out orders. You sometimes have to press redial 5x just to get through. Ate there last week on a Wednesday night . Place is very clean , bathrooms were well kept . The food was so damn delicious!! It's a small restaurant in a little business area and probably people might get turned off by that but the food makes up for the location!! We had the blue crab , green mussels , shrimp , crawfish , with corn , potatoes, sausage in . My husband and I couldn't finish it there's so much food in that bag . Definitely recommend to Not wear expensive white clothes , as it can get pretty darn messy ( but oh so worth it !) eating . I totally recommend this place for anyone who's a fan of Boiling Crab . We had the choice of table and booth, you guys already know what most people prefer. Hahah. We got the booth at the end and they're big and spacious. It wasn't too busy around the time we went which was perfect for us. Our server came to take our hour within 5 minutes of us sitting down. She was extremely sweet too. Repeated our somewhat long order back and had it right on. The selections are about the same as any other place. We're from Las Vegas so we have places just like this. The flavor here was just delicious. And the crawfish here are big. No complaints there. We finished 2lbs of shrimp, a pound of mussels, and a pound of crawfish and left feeling full and satisfied.
