Star Crab was the only restaurant that came close to tasting like Boiling Crab. 9.5/10

I ordered Star Crab for pickup thinking I was bringing home a delicious seafood feast. What I actually brought home was the worst decision I've made in 2026 so far. No-actually, I think I accidentally brought home a biological weapon when I ordered from here. TL, DR: I ate here and had food poisoning My order: crab, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. Everything looked good, smelled good, and I was genuinely excited. I got home, and in the moment, I thought, "Wow, this is going to be a great dinner." Then, then I dug in. Fast forward a short time after and my stomach said: absolutely not. What followed was a night of betrayal, regret, and a very intense relationship with my bathroom floor. I won't get into graphic details, but this meal came with... consequences. At one point I genuinely sat there thinking, "This can't be how my story ends... because of some pickup crab." While I sat there, sharting my life away, I began reflecting on every bad decision I've made over my entire life. Then, I started trying to figure out where i went wrong in the meal. If you've ever had food poisoning, you know the type of questions you ask. The kind where you start replaying the meal in your head like a crime scene investigation. Was it the shrimp? Was it the crab? Was it the potatoes? Was it the corn? At this point I trust none of them. Maybe, I got a bad batch? All I know is that the seafood boil turned into a gastrointestinal horror movie. I ordered dinner and ended up starring in an episode of "Survivor: Bathroom Edition." If you're considering any meal from this jawn, just know that my stomach and I are still in couples therapy trying to process what happened. I'm writing this review because I didn't even make it out of the house before regretting it. I don't want the same to happen to you. If you're considering eating here, just proceed with caution. STAR CRAB SAN BERNARDINO Just wanted to let people know. I don't usually post these kind of things but this is something I think our community needs to know Unfortunately, after eating our meal a Cockroch with eggs hanging out came out from the back of the bench. The owner tried to find an excuse to say the door was left open but it's obvious that there is an infestation of Roaches there. Very disappointing as it's my favorite seafood boil place. A worker came with a broom to sweep it off the bench I told him no I want the owner to see this and still did it anyways. I have never in my life given a bad review but this place is possibly the worst food on this earth. Who has ever had king crab that was so frozen it was soft? The flavor of the sauce was amazing but mixed with the fact that there was hotdogs served as sausage made it almost impossible to eat. 5 stars isn't enough for Kelly at Boiling Crab! The only reason I'm even leaving this review is because of how amazing she was. She truly is a master at what she does. She made sure me and my girls had everything we needed plus more the entire time we were there. She was so attentive, welcoming, and made us feel completely comfortable from the moment we walked in. I had an amazing time at star crab last night. After going home and telling my man, what a horrible time I had at Alaskan crab in Moreno Valley. He took me to star crab in San Bernardino. I had an awesome time, courteous, kind, friendly customer service and the food came out without time delay. Second timer here first time adding crawfish to the boil, first and foremost they were attentive. The wait was no longer than 15 mins on a Friday night. I went with my wife and kids along with a friend. We waited no longer than 30 mins for the food, for the most part the vibe was neutral along with the tvs playing in the background. Went here last night, I haven't been here in a while in which before I LOVED their food. Last night I HATED it. The cajun fries had no flavor and were burnt, the lemon pepper fries had no flavor, the shrimp was falling apart and no flavor. The food was absolutely delicious! The seafood was fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly . Definitely one of the better seafood spots I've been to. The flavors were on point, and the portion sizes were generous too.The only downside was the service. Our server wasn't very attentive when it came to drink refills and checking in throughout the meal. That being said, it wasn't enough to ruin the experience. Quick service, great food! Ordered a dozen oysters, lemon pepper fries, which were the best fries I've had in years (pictured below). Ordered two build-your-own bags with various sides one with (cajun) snowcrab legs and the other with half-pound scallops and half-pound shrimp. So much flavor! Sitting in the booths felt very private/cozy and made for a great dining experience. Update: Ate here again today + got 1/2lb black mussels and 1/2lb shrimp. 10/10 combo! I've been to a few crab boil places, and this place takes the bottom of the list. Very stingy with their proportions for the amount of money you pay. ONE crab cluster was $35...and when you crack it open it's half filled with meat. Half pound of shrimp is 6 little pieces. Service was okay, sat almost immediately- but the food was garbage. I come here every now and then because it's down the street from my job, my experience today was absolutely terrible‼ I ordered a seafood boil with shrimp, potatoes, sausage and eggs. These jokers gave me a hot dog and tried to pass it off as sausage‼I'm still in shock. How dare you treat your customers that way? You should have just told me you were out of sausage. Even though your food is pricey I was a loyal customer! You mean to tell me I paid $5.50 for hot dogs? We got one of the combos and have to say it was great! The food as fresh and the Cajun seasoning was delicious. Our server was so sweet and checked on us regularly. We came here on a Saturday night and we were sat down relatively fast. I'm not exactly sure what they were thinking in terms of music choice. Whoever controlled the music at the restaurant decided to play YNW Melly, Lil Baby etc. I don't have an issue with that kind of music, just thought it was a weird selection for a family seafood place idk. Honestly this place went from one of my favorite spots in the IE, to one I wouldn't go back to again. The shrimp & crawfish were very watered down and had NO flavor. I had to ask for extra sauce since there was not much to dip the shrimp in. Of course, the sauce was concentrated and it was delicious. But be prepared for an extra $4.99 charge if you want it to be flavorful. The waitress was very kind and attentive. We are regular customers here for the past two years and come here 3-4 times a month. Our last visit on 8/5/24 me, my wife and kids one of our orders was a pound and a half of shrimp and only received 8 pieces of shrimp not even close to a pound. We were put in the back of the restaurant when it was completely empty and was a slow day and we were never check on until we got our check. We even had to go to the front to get refills on our drinks twice. When we received the check I advised the waitresses that looks like I only received half a pound and if she could charge me what I got. She advised me that "oh your waiter is on break" and there's nothing I can do about it and that one pound usually comes with 16 shrimp and told here exactly on only got 8 pieces. I then advised her well I'm not paying for something that I didn't get. She then threatened us then I will have to call the police on me if I didn't want to pay. My wife and I were outraged on her response as she thought we were trying to dine and dash and wanted to pay for what we got. We then asked to speak to the manager and she stated that the manager was on her break and that she will not come out for this which is not acceptable if that was true and continued to say we will have to call the police. We then told her you are better off on walking away because she was just making it worse in front of our kids. We then asked the host if we can speak with the manager and she came to our table right away and advised her about the situation with her employee on everything she said to us about her calling the cops on us and that the manager wasn't going to come out for this. We advised her we aren't trying not to pay but pay what we were given. She apologized to us and took off a whole order and then some. We told her she didn't have to do that we just wanted to pay on what we received. We paid our bill and still gave the manager a tip as our attention wasn't to get a free meal we want to make it right and pay what we got. Me and my wife will definitely not be returning her since their employee threatened us to call the police on us for something they are doing in fact they were trying to steal from us if anything. read more

I decided to try this place because it was close to my school and I instantly regretted it. The Cajun flavoring taste like paprika and ketchup mixed together. I literally could only eat a few pieces. I'm not sure who even told them that sauce was good or how anyone can eat it. There was no garlic, no butter, it was the color of a dark blood. I preferred here for the first time (off of recommendation) and was not disappointed. The flavor and quality was great, I ordered 2 pounds of shrimp added sausage,eggs and corn to the bag along with 2 pounds of Dungeness crab, seasoning choice was full house and the spicy level I chose was medium and lastly just a few orders or plain white rice. The server was nice and offered me a water while I waited for my food. The establishment was clean and the vibe was what you'd usually expect from a seafood boil resturant, though I cannot give an in depth experience seeing how I got my order to go, but overall I'd rate my experience a 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a solid seafood boil my only "negative" about the establishment is that they didn't have blue crab but that just being picky read more

Very disappointed. My friend and I came to this place to try their food out, and my 5 year old son and my friend's 5 year old daugher are allergic to seafood so we picked up happy meal for them. when we walked in to the restaurant , one of the employee told us that we weren't allowed to have the outside food in the restaurant due to some policy. we explained our kids are allergic to seafood, but they still told us outside food are not allow, and they should finish they're food outside of restaurant first then come back to dine in. i could understand if it was a full on meal for multiple ppl but it was just a little happy meal for the 5 year old. after i read the yelp reviews, i'm glad that we didn't wast our money at this restaurant. we will just take our business to Blazin' Crab over in Redlands. read more
