Service was super quick (9pm at night) and the food was really good. I only gave 4/5 stars because they take cash only. (However they do have an ATM outside that you can use.) I strolled into this place around 2:30am this morning. Don't be fooled by the outside of this place, everything was amazing. I sat down was greeted by Paulie, had beverages in front of me in about 2 minutes, ordered an omelette and my friend ordered a burger. Did they put the order in before we got there? It was out in about 5-6 minutes, It takes longer for burger king or McDonalds to make food than this place. Everything was spectacular, best part is when I asked if they were open 24 hours, he said yes.. so your telling me I can go here whenever I want in the day or night? I don't know what they do, but I'm a fiend for this place's breakfast sandwiches. I'm from California and this is usually my first stop once I'm in New York. I have family in White Plains. I visit every couple of years. Not once have I been disappointed here and I love that every time I come, I see the same faces behind the counter. I've had their burgers and fries and pies. I love this White Plains landmark (1930s). Staff is warm and very kind to my elderly folks (bonus points for that) . Daily specials change with Thursday being corned beef and cabbage. Diner is often patronized by a cast of characters which always makes for a different experience. Place is somewhat small but comfortable when you can snag a booth. Parking meters out front and be advised...VERY efficient meter maids. Overall everything I've tried here is delicious and fresh. read more

Growing up in White Plains this has always been and still is the late night go to spot. It was Valentine's Day and we were leaving a show in NYC and both starving. As a new employee in White Plains, whose office is very near the Star Diner, I happen to see people going in and out of what looked like a beaten down trailer. As off putting as it looked -- I was curious. So, one morning (long before I had to be at the office) I went in. Well! I had the tastiest breakfast I've had in a LONG LONG time (Smile). The service was excellent, and my meal arrived in what seemed liked seconds-- freshly cooked. I've gone for lunch and enjoyed it just as much! Right now, they're closed for a 2 week vacation (July 25 to August 5th, 2011). Sigh. I can't wait for the staff to return --open back up --from what I know was a well deserved rest. read more

a smallish retro style diner in white plains away from the busy downtown area. i stopped by with a few friends who were regulars when they lived in white plains before moving out west and i do recall tagging along a few times and remember the breakfast being good . your best parking route is street parking and you will find plenty. inside its retro booths on one side and counter seating on other side with comfy stools. open 24/7 for good american breakfast, lunch , dinner with some greek dining options if you prefer. as we were seated at our booth our server came over right away and took our order. pancakes, egg white omelettes , oatmeal, coffee, tea , all came out in less then 10 minutes and no complaints from my group . food and service is very good and that old school retro interior is a major plus. read more

This is a white plains must eat here!! Star diner is special. The entire diner is an old air steam type trailer and the address is 66 1/2. Ok? How cutie is that? It has a not over the top at all 50's diner appeal. It's casual. Everyone knows your name type of place. I have been coming to star diner for over 20 years. Back in the days of old when we would come home from work at 3am... Star was there and so was everyone else.. Even majOr Delfino. There are 5 booths that hold 4 people 5 if your small! And a counter that sits 12. It's not gourmet people, it's straight up comfort food. Pure joy. My recommendations are anything. From cheeseburgers to fries with real gravy and the turkey soup on Thursdays. They just get it right. I obsess over the specials like pot the roast on Wednesdays (on a buttered roll with a side of gravy please) and my daughters favorite 2 eggs over medium side of home fries! Stopped by on my way to LGA. Needed something quick but good. First thing is you can easily walk right past it so watch for the main door. Lively staff - friendly, vibrant atmosphere. Small place and everyone seems to know each other their. The cooking area is right behind the counter and that's only a few feet from the few booths in the place. Waitress was spunky but sweet. All of this made me hope that the food was just good enough to swallow. But no worries. Excellent food (I had the French toast with eggs) and they know how to cook eggs right. The food in and of itself was good. The atmosphere is what has made me give this restaurant 2 stars. There is hardly any room to stand/wait for a table or bar stool, never mind space for the waitresses to move through and serve their customers. My daughter and I waited for about 35 minutes before being seated. Even then, there is no process for being seated. People who came in after us, were seated first because they were standing near the available stools. This is a local place, so if you are from the area definitely check it out, otherwise there are probably better establishments in the area to visit. read more

I have always wanted to go to this diner for years ( about 25).But when passing by, we were usually on our way going somewhere else. But today, my daughter and I stopped in and were pleasantly surprised . It was a little after 11am and it was crowded. We found a very roomy and cozy booth in the back. The menu had all the usual diner favorites which I love . My daughter had the waffle and scrambled eggs and I had the turkey club with potato salad. The food was exceptional especially the turkey club which was the best I've had in years. The unsweetened ice tea was nice and strong and the service was friendly and fast !!!
